# Dua of Thanking for Graces

- Instruction: Through a valid chain of authority, Imam Reza (a) is reported to have related the following story: A man found a sheet of paper with an inscription and brought it to the Holy Prophet (s) who, once he read it, called out at people to gather for a congregational prayer. As everybody came, the Holy Prophet (s) ascended the minbar (a pulpit in the mosque) and said: This is the scripture of Yusha’, the son of Nun (Prophet Joshua), the successor of Prophet Moses (a). The inscription reads the following: In the Name of Allah; the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. Your Lord is certainly Kind and Merciful. The best of Allah’s servants are the pious, pure, and affectionate; while the most wicked of Allah’s servants are so identified that fingers can point at them. He who wishes to have his deeds measured by the fairest balance and to carry out his duties towards the graces that Almighty Allah has bestowed upon him, must say the following litany every day…
- Instruction (Urdu): معتبر سند کے ساتھ امام علی رضاؑ  سے روايت ہے کہ اصحاب پيغمبر میں سے ايک شخص کو کہيں سے ايک خط ملا جسے وه آنحضرتؐ کی خدمت میں لے آيا، آپ نے حکم فرمايا کہ تمام اصحاب اکٹھے ہوں ، جب وه اکٹھے ہو گئے تو حضرت رسول اکرمؐ منبر پر تشريف لے گئے اور ارشاد فرمايا :يہ وه خط ہے جو حضرت موسیٰؑ کے وصی يوشع بن نونؑ نے لکھا اور اس کا مضمون يہ ہے: بسم اللهالرحمٰن الرحيم، يقينًا تمہارا پروردگار تمہارا دوست اور مہربان ہے ، يقينًا خدا کے بہترين بندے گمنام پرہيز گار ہيں اور خدا کی بد ترين مخلوق وه لوگ ہيں جو جھوٹی رياست و حکومت کے طلب گار اور لوگوں میں معروف ہيں، پس جو شخص يہ چاہتا ہے کہ اسے کامل اور پورا ثواب ملے اور خدا کی نعمتوں کا شکر ادا کرے تو اسے چاہيئے کہ ہر روز يہ دعا پڑھے۔۔۔

- Arabic: بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
- Transliteration: BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM
- English: In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
- Urdu: اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

- Arabic: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ كَمَا يَنْۢبَغِىْ لِلهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ كَمَا يَنْۢبَغِىْ لِلهِ وَلَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ كَمَا يَنْۢبَغِىْ لِلهِ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ النَّبِىِّ الْاُمِّىِّ وَعَلٰى جَمِيْعِ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ وَالنَّبِيِّيْنَ حَتّٰى يَرْضَى اللهُ۔
- Transliteration: SUBHAA-NAL LAAHE KAMAA YAM-BAGHEE LILLAA-HE WAL HAMDO LILLAA-HE KAMAA YAM-BAGHEE LILLAA-HE WA LAA ILAAHA ILLAL-LAAHO KAMAA YAM-BAGHEE LILLAA-HE WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAA-HE WA SALAL-LAAHO ‘ALAA MOHAMMADIW WA AHLE BAITE-HIN NABIYYIL UMMIY-YE WA ‘ALAA JAMEE’IL MUR-SALEE-NA WAL NABIY-YEENA HATTAA YAR-ZALLAAH.
- English: All glory be to Allah as it should be for Allah. All praise be to Allah as it should be for Allah. There is no god save Allah as it should be for Allah. There is neither might nor power except with Allah. May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad, and his Household, the Meccan Prophet, and upon all the Messengers and Prophets until Allah is pleased.
- Urdu: الله پاک و پاکيزه ہے جيسے اسے ہونا چاہيئے، حمد خدا کے ليے ہے جيسی کہ ہونی چاہيئے، کوئی معبود نہيں مگر لله جيسا کہ اسے ہونا چاہيئے، نہيں کوئی طاقت و قوت مگر وه جو الله سے ہے اور خدا رحمت فرماے حضرت محمدؐ پر جو نبی امی ہيں اور ان کے اہل بيؑت پر، خدا کرے تمام رسولوں اور نبيوںپر اس قدر کہ وه راضی ہو جائے۔

- Arabic: اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
- Transliteration: ALLAHUMMA SWALLE ALAA MUHAMMADIW WA AALE MUHAMMADIN
- English: Allah’s (s.w.t) choicest blessings be upon Mohammed and his holy progeny.
- Urdu: اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔
