It is addressed to the One present in every place, so that He may hear a call the reciter admits is made with excessive sin and too little shame. Its questions are put plainly: which of the terrifying states should be remembered and which forgotten, when death alone would be enough, and what comes after death is greater and worse. It names four things it calls for help against — desires that have overpowered the reciter, an enemy that has pounced, a world that attracts, and the soul that leads towards evil except that on which the Lord has mercy (12:53). Its closing passage imagines the moment of standing alone: every creature withdrawn, even father and mother, the reciter's deeds carried on his neck, and Allah asking about what He already knows better. Saying yes leaves no escape from His justice; saying no is answered with "was I not a witness over you?" What it asks for, three times over, is pardon before the punishment rather than acquittal. ## Text - Arabic: بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ - Transliteration: BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM - English: In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful. - Urdu: اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔ - Arabic: اُنَاجِیْكَ یَامَوْجُوْدُ فِیْ كُلِّ مَكَانٍ لَعَلَّكَ تَسْمَعُ نِدَاۗئِیْ فَقَدْ عَظُمَ جُرْمِیْ وَقَلَّ حَیَاۗئِیْ مَوْلٰایَ یَامَوْلٰایَ اَیَّ الْاَھْوَالِ اَتَذَكَّرُ وَاَیَّھَا اَنْسٰی وَلَوْ لَمْ یَكُنْ اِلَّا الْمَوْتَ لَكَفٰی كَیْفَ وَمَا بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ اَعْظَمُ وَاَدْھٰی۔ مَوْلٰایَ یَامَوْلٰایَ حَتّٰی مَتٰی اَقُوْلُ لَكَ الْعُتْبٰی مَرَّۃًۢ بَعْدَ اُخْرٰی ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ عِنْدِیْ صِدْقًا وَلَا وَفَاۗءً فَیَاغَوْثَاہُ ثُمَّ وَاغَوْثَاہُ بِكَ یَااَللہُ مِنْ ھَوَیٍ قَدْ غَلَبَنِیْ وَمِنْ عَدُوٍّ قَدِ اسْتَكْلَبَ عَلَیَّ وَمِنْ دُنْیَا قَدْ تَزَیَّنَتْ لِیْ وَمِنْ نَفْسِ اَمَّارَۃٍۢ بِالسُّوٓءِ اِلَّا مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّیْ۔ - Transliteration: ONAAJEEKA YAA MAWJOODUN FEE KULLE MAKAANIN LA-A'LLAKA TASMA-O NEDAAA-EE FAQAD A'ZOMA JURMEE WA QALLA HAYAA-EE MAWLAAYA YAA MAWLAAYA AYYAL AHWAALE ATAZAKKARO WA AYYAHA ANSAA WA LAW LAM YAKUN ILLAL MAWTO LAKAFAA KAYFA WA MAA BA'DAL MAWTE A-A'ZAMO WA ADHAA. MAWLAAYA YAA MAWLAAYA HATTAA MATAA WA ELAA MATAA AQOOLO LAKAL UTBAA MARRATAN BA'DA UKHRAA SUMMA LAA TAJEDO I'NDEE SIDQAN WALAA WAFAAA-AN FA YAA GHAWSAA-HO SUMMA WAA GHAWSAA-HO BEKA YAA ALLAAHO MIN HAWAN QAD GHALABANEE WA MIN A'DUWWIN QADIS TAKLABA A'LAYYA WA MIN DUNYAA QAD TAZAYYANAT LEE WA MIN NAFSIN AMMAARATIN BIS-SOOO-E ILLAA MAA RAHEMA RABBEE. - English: O Allah bless Muhammad and his family I whisper unto You, O One Who is present in every place so that You may hear my call for surely my sin is excessive and my shame is less. My Master, O my Master which of the terrifying states shall I remember and which of them shall I forget for if there was nothing except death it would be enough then what about after death greater and much worse? My master O my Master up to when and till when will I say, I am to blame, again and again, but then You do not find any truth or loyalty in me? I call for help and I call for help, O Allah from desires which have overpowered me and from the enemy which has pounced on me and from the world which attracts me and from the soul that leads towards evil except that on which my Lord has mercy (12:53). - Urdu: اے وہ اﷲجو ہر جگہ موجود ہے میں تجھ سے مناجات کررہاہوں۔ شاید کہ تو میری فریاد سن لے کیوں کہ میرے جرائم زیادہ ہیں اور حیا گھٹ گئی ہے،میرے مولا اے میرے مولا! میں کس کس خوف کو یاد کروں اور کس کس کو فراموش کروں، اگر موت کے سوا کوئی خوف نہ ہوتا تویہی کافی تھا اور موت کے بعد کے حالات تو زیادہ پُر خطر ہیں ۔ میرے مولا اے میرے مولا! کب تک اور کہاں تک تجھ سے کہتا رہوں ایک کے بعد دوسری بارعذر لاؤں پھر بھی تو میری طرف سے اس میں سچائی اور پابندی نہیں پاتا ہائے فریاد، پھر ہائے فریاد ہے، تجھ سے اے اﷲ خواہش نفس سے جو مجھ پر حاوی ہے اور اس دشمن سے فریاد جو مجھ پر جھپٹ پڑا ہے، اس دنیا پر فریاد جو میرے لیے سنور کر آگئی اور اس نفس پر جو برائی کا حکم دیتا ہے مگر جس پر میرا رب رحم کرے۔ - Arabic: مَوْلٰایَ یَامَوْلٰایَ اِنْ كُنْتَ رَحِمْتَ مِثْلِیْ فَارْحَمْنِیْ وَاِنْ كُنْتَ قَبِلْتَ مِثْلِیْ فَاقْبَلْنِیْ یَاقَبِلَ السَّحَرَۃِ اِقْبَلْنِیْ یَامَن لَّمْ اَزَلْ اَتَعَرَّفُ مِنْہُ الْحُسْنٰی یَامَنْ یُّغَذِّیْنِیْ بِالنِّعَمِ صَبَاحًا وَّمَسَاۗءً اِرْحَمْنِیْ یَوْمَ اٰتِیْكَ فَرْدًا شَاخِصًا اِلَیْكَ بَصَرِیْ مُقَلَّدًا عَمَلِیْ قَدْ تَبَرَّءَ جَمِیْعُ الْخَلْقِ مِنِّیْ نَعَمْ وَاَبِیْ وَاُمِّیْ وَمَنْ كَانَ لَہٗ كَدِّیْ وَسَعْیِیْ فَاِنْ لَمْ تَرْحَمْنِیْ فَمَنْ یَّرْحَمُنِیْ وَمَنْ یُّوْنِسُ فِی الْقَبْرِ وَحْشَتِیْ وَمَن یُّنْطِقُ لِسَانِیْ۔ - Transliteration: MAWLAAYA YAA MAWLAAYA IN KUNTA RAHIMTA MISLEE FARHAMNEE WA IN KUNTA QABILTA MISLEE FA AQBALNEE YAA KAABELAS-SAHARATE IQBALNEE YAA MAN LAM AZAL ATA-A'RRAFO MINHUL HUSNAA YAA MAN YOGAZZEENEE BIN NEA'ME SABAAHAN WA MASAAHAN IRHAMNEE YAWMAA AATEEKA FARDAN SHAAKHESAN ELAYKA BASAREE MOQALLADAN A'MALEE QAD TABARRA-A JAMEE-U'L KHALQE MINNEE NA-A'M WA ABEE WA UMMEE WA MAN KAANA LAHU QADDEE WA SA'YEE FA IN LAM TARHAMNEE FA MAN YARHAMONEE WA MAN YOONESO FIL QABRE WAHSHATEE WA MAN YUNTEQO LESAANEE. - English: My master O my master if You have had mercy on the likes of me then have mercy on me and if You have accepted from the likes of me then accept from me, O One Who accepts the early morning prayer accept me, O One who, I still know only good from Him. O One who nourishes me with blessings morning and evening have mercy on me when I come to You alone, my glance fixed on You my actions carried on my neck When all of creation will withdraw away from me yes, even my father and mother and those for whom I worked and struggled then if You will not have mercy on me who will have mercy on me who will give me solace from the loneliness of the grave and who will make me speak when I am alone with my deeds and when You will ask me about what You know better than me? - Urdu: میرے مولا! اے میرے مولا! اگر تو نے کسی مجھ جیسے پر رحم کیا ہے تو مجھ پر بھی رحم کر، اگر کسی مجھ جیسے کا عمل قبول کیا ہے تو میرا بھی عمل قبول کر، اے ساحرانِ مصر کو قبول کرنے والے مجھے بھی قبول کر،اے وہ جس سے میں نے ہمیشہ اچھائی ہی کو پہچانا، اے وہ جو مجھے صبح و شام نعمتیں عطا فرماتا ہے، مجھ پر اس دن رحم فرمانا جب تنہا ہوں گااورتیری طرف آنکھ لگائے ہوں گا۔ اپنے اعمال گلے میں لٹکائے جب ساری مخلوق مجھ سے دوری اختیار کرے گی، ہاں میرے ماں باپ بھی اور وہ بھی جن کے لیے میں دکھ جھیلتا رہا، پس اگر تو مجھ پر رحم نہ کرے تو کون کرے گا؟قبر کی تنہائی میں کون میرا ہم دم ہوگا؟ کون میری زبان کو گویا کرے گا؟ جب تو عمل کے بارے میں مجھ سے سوال کرے گا، جب کہ تو اسے مجھ سےزیادہ جانتا ہے۔ - Arabic: اِذَا خَلَوْتُ بِعَمَلِیْ وَسَاۗئَلْتَنِیْ عَمَّا اَنْتَ اَعْلَمُ بِہٖ مِنِّیْ فَاِنْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَاَیْنَ الْمَھْرَبُ مِنْ عَدْلِكَ وَاِنْ قُلْتُ لَمْ اَفْعَلْ قُلْتَ اَلَمْ اَكُنِ الشَّاھِدَ عَلَیْكَ فَعَفْوُكَ عَفْوُكَ یَامَوْلٰایَ قَبْلَ سَرَابِیْلِ الْقَطِرَانِ عَفْوُكَ عَفْوُكَ یَامَوْلٰایَ قَبْلَ جَھَنَّمَ وَالنِّیْرَانِ عَفْوُكَ عَفْوُكَ یَامَوْلٰایَ قَبْلَ اَنْ تُغَلَّ الْاَیْدِیْ اِلَی الْاَعْنَاقِ یَااَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ وَخَیْرَ الْغَافِرِیْنَ۔ - Transliteration: EZAA KHALAWTO BE A'MALEE WA SAA-ALTANEE A'MMAA ANTA A-A'LAMO BEHI MIN A'DLEKA WA IN QULTO LAM AF-A'L QULTA ALAM AKANISH SHAAHEDA A'LAYKA FA A'FWOKA A'FWOK YAA MAWLAAYA QABLA SARAABEELIL QATERAANE A'FWOKA A'FWOK YAA MAWLAAYA QABLA AN TOGHALLAL AYDEE ELAL A-A'NAAKE YAA ARHAMAR RAAHEMEEN WA KHAYRAL GHAAFEREEN. - English: Then if I say yes (to my sins) where will be the escape from Your Justice? And if I say I did not commit it You will say was I not a witness over you? So (I beseech) Your Forgiveness Your Pardon O my master before the wearing of the clothes of Hell Your Forgiveness Your Pardon O my Master before the Hell and the Fire Your Forgiveness Your Forgiveness O my Master before the hands are tied to the necks O the most Merciful and the best of Forgivers. - Urdu: تو اگر میں ہاں کہوں پھر تیرے عدل سے کدھر بھاگوں گا اور اگر کہوں، میں نے نہیں کیاتو تو کہے گا:کیا میں اس پر گواہ نہیں تھا۔ پس بخش دے، بخش دے اے میرے مولا ۔ اس سے پہلے کہ تارکول کا جامہ پہنوں۔ بخش دے، بخش دے۔ اے میرے مولا! اس سے پہلے کہ جہنم کے شعلوں میں پڑوں بخش دے بخش دے اے میرے مولا، اس سے پہلے کہ میرے ہاتھ گردن میں باندھ دیئے جائیں اے سب سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والے اور اے بہت بخشنے والے۔ - Arabic: اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔ - Transliteration: ALLAHUMMA SWALLE ALAA MUHAMMADIW WA AALE MUHAMMADIN - English: Allah’s (s.w.t) choicest blessings be upon Mohammed and his holy progeny. - Urdu: اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔ --- Published by Fatima Zahra Imamia Centre, North Ipswich QLD, https://fzic.org.
