# Obligatory Part

- Instruction: It is obligatory to bury a corpse in a manner that its smell does not come out and predatory animals cannot dig it out; and if there is danger that an animal will dig it out, the grave must be strengthened with bricks or similar things.
- Instruction (Urdu): میت کو اس طرح زمین میں دفن کرنا واجب ہے کہ اس کی بو باہر نہ آئے اور درندے بھی اس کا بدن باہر نہ نکال سکیں اور اگر اس بات کا خوف ہو کہ درندے اس کا بدن باہر نکال لیں گے تو قبر کو اینٹوں وغیرہ سے پختہ کر دینا چاہئے۔

- Instruction: If it is not possible to bury a corpse in the ground, it can be placed in a building or in a coffin instead.
- Instruction (Urdu): اگر میت کو زمین میں دفن کرنا ممکن نہ ہو تو دفن کرنے کے بجائے اسے کمرے یا تابوت میں رکھا جا سکتا ہے۔

- Instruction: A corpse must be laid in the grave on its right side in a way that the front of the body faces qibla.
- Instruction (Urdu): میت کو قبر میں دائیں پہلو اس طرح لٹانا چاہئے کہ اس کے بدن کا سامنے کا حصہ رو بقبلہ ہو۔

- Instruction: If someone dies on a ship, in the event that his corpse will not decompose and there is no problem with it being on the ship, the people must wait until the ship reaches land and then they must bury it in the ground; otherwise, the ghusl, camphorating, and shrouding must be performed on the corpse while it is on the ship. And after performing Namaz-e-Mayyit, the corpse must be placed in a large barrel, its lid closed, and then the barrel must be thrown into the sea; or, a heavy object must be tied to the feet of the corpse and then it must be thrown into the sea. If possible, the corpse must be thrown in a place where it will not immediately become food for animals.
- Instruction (Urdu): اگر کوئی شخص کشتی میں مر جائے اور اس کی میت کے خراب ہونے کا امکان نہ ہو اور اسے کشتی میں رکھنے میں بھی کوئی امر مانع نہ ہو تو لوگوں کو چاہئے کہ انتظار کریں تا کہ خشکی تک پہنچ جائیں اور اسے زمین میں دفن کردیں ورنہ چاہئے کہ اسے کشتی میں ہی غسل دے کر حنوط کریں اور کفن پہنائیں اور نماز میت پڑھنے کے بعد اسے چٹائی میں رکھ کر اس کا منہ بند کر دیں اور اس کے پاوں میں کوئی بھاری چیز  باندھ کر سمندر میں ڈال دیں اور جہاں تک ممکن ہو اسے ایسی جگہ نہیں گرانا چاہئے جہاں جانور اسے فوراً لقمہ بنا لیں۔

- Instruction: If a (pregnant) disbelieving woman dies and the baby in her womb has died, in the event that the father of the child is a Muslim, the woman must be laid on her left side with her back facing qibla so that the front of the baby faces qibla. The same applies, based on recommended precaution, if the spirit (rooh) has not yet entered the foetus.
- Instruction (Urdu): اگر کوئی کافر عورت مر جائے اور اس کے پیٹ میں مرا ہوا بچہ ہو اور بچے کا باپ مسلمان ہو تو اس عورت کو قبر میں بائیں پہلو قبلے کی طرف پیٹھ کر کے لٹانا چاہئے تا کہ بچے کا منہ قبلے کی طرف ہو اور اگر پیٹ میں موجود بچے کے بدن میں ابھی جان نہ پڑی ہو تب بھی احتیاط مستحب کی بنا پر یہی حکم ہے۔

- Instruction: It is not permitted to bury a Muslim in the graveyard of disbelievers, or to bury a disbeliever in the graveyard of Muslims.
- Instruction (Urdu): مسلمان کو کافروں کے قبرستان میں دفن کرنا اور کافر کو مسلمانوں کے قبرستان میں دفن کرنا جائز نہیں ہے۔

- Instruction: It is not permitted to bury a Muslim in a place that is disrespectful to him, such as a place where rubbish and dirt are thrown.
- Instruction (Urdu): مسلمان کو ایسی جگہ جہاں اس کی بے حرمتی ہوتی ہو مثلًا جہاں کوڑا کرکٹ اور گندگی پھینکی جاتی ہو، دفن کرنا جائز نہیں ہے۔

- Instruction: It is not permitted to bury a corpse in a place that is usurped, or in the ground of a place like a mosque that has been given as a charitable endowment (waqf) for purposes other than burial.
- Instruction (Urdu): میت کو غصبی زمین میں یا ایسی زمین میں جو دفن کے علاوہ کسی دوسرے مقصد مثلًا مسجد کے لئے وقف ہو دفن کرنا جائز نہیں ہے۔

- Instruction: It is not permitted to exhume a grave in order for another corpse to be buried there unless the grave is very old and the first corpse has completely decomposed.
- Instruction (Urdu): کسی میت کی قبر کھود کر کسی دوسرے مردے کو اس قبر میں دفن کرنا جائز نہیں ہے، لیکن اگر قبر پرانی ہو گئی ہو اور پہلی میت کا نشان باقی نہ رہا ہو تو دفن کر سکتے ہیں۔

- Instruction: If a part of the corpse becomes separated even if it is its hair, nail, or tooth it must be buried with the body; and in the event that the separated part is found after the body has been buried, then based on obligatory precaution, even if it is its hair, nail or tooth, it must be buried in a different place. Furthermore, it is recommended to bury nails and teeth that separated from a person’s body when he was alive.
- Instruction (Urdu): جو چیز میت سے جدا ہو جائے خواہ وہ اس کے بال، ناخن یا دانت ہی ہوں اسے اس کے ساتھ ہی دفن کر دینا چاہئے اور اگر جدا ہونے والی چیزیں اگر چہ وہ دانت، ناخن یا بال ہی کیوں نہ ہوں میت کو دفنانے کے بعد ملیں تو احتیاط لازم کی بنا پر انہیں کسی دوسری جگہ دفن کر دینا چاہئے، اور جو ناخن اور دانت انسان کی زندگی میں ہی اس سے جدا ہو جائیں انہیں دفن کرنا مستحب ہے۔

- Instruction: If someone dies in a well and it is not possible to bring him out of it, the well must be sealed and it will be considered to be his grave.
- Instruction (Urdu): اگر کوئی شخص کنویں میں مر جائے اور اسے باہر نکالنا ممکن نہ ہو تو چاہئے کہ کنویں کا منہ بند کر دیں اور اس کنویں کو ہی اس کی قبر قرار دیں۔

- Instruction: If a child dies in its mother’s womb and were it to remain in the womb it would be dangerous for the mother, it must be taken out in the easiest way possible; and there is no problem if one is compelled to cut it into pieces.
- Instruction (Urdu): اگر کوئی بچہ ماں کے پیٹ میں مر جائے اور اس کا پیٹ میں رہنا ماں کی زندگی کے لئے خطرناک ہو تو چاہئے کہ اسے آسان ترین طریقے سے باہر نکالیں۔ چنانچہ اگر اسے ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کرنے پر بھی مجبور ہوں تو کرنے میں کوئی حرج نہیں۔

- Instruction: Whenever a woman dies with a living child in her womb, if there is hope in the child surviving albeit for a short period of time then the woman must be cut open from wherever it is best suited for the health of the child, and the child must be taken out, and then the mother’s body must be stitched up.
- Instruction (Urdu): اگر ماں مر جائے اور بچہ اس کے پیٹ میں زندہ ہو اور اگر چہ اس بچے کے زندہ رہنے کی امید نہ ہو تب بھی ضروری ہے کہ ہر اس جگہ کو چاک کریں جو بچے کی سلامتی کے لئے بہتر ہے اور بچے کو باہر نکالیں اور پھر اس جگہ کو ٹانکے لگا دیں۔
