### Pen (Makki)

- Arabic: بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
- Transliteration: BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM
- English: In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
- Urdu: اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

- Arabic: نۗ وَالْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُوْنَ
- Transliteration: NOON; WALQALAMI WA MAA YASTUROON.
- English: Noon. I swear by the pen and what the angels write
- Urdu: نۤ، قلم اور اس چیز کی قسم جو یہ لکھ رہے ہیں۔

- Arabic: مَآ اَنْتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُوْنٍ
- Transliteration: MAA ANTA BINI’MATI RABBIKA BIMAJNOON.
- English: By the grace of your Lord you are not mad.
- Urdu: آپ اپنے پروردگار کی نعمت کے طفیل مجنون نہیں ہیں۔

- Arabic: وَاِنَّ لَكَ لَاَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُوْنٍ
- Transliteration: WA INNA LAKA LA AJRAN GHAIRA MAMNOON.
- English: And most surely you shall have a reward never to be cut off.
- Urdu: اور آپ کے لئے کبھی نہ ختم ہونے والا اجر ہے۔

- Arabic: وَاِنَّكَ لَعَلٰى خُلُقٍ عَظِيْمٍ
- Transliteration: WA INNAKA LA’ALAA KHULUQIN ’AZEEM.
- English: And most surely you conform (yourself) to sublime morality.
- Urdu: اور آپ بلند ترین اخلاق کے درجہ پر ہیں۔

- Arabic: فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُوْنَ
- Transliteration: FASATUBSIRU WA YUBSIROON.
- English: So you shall see, and they (too) shall see
- Urdu: عنقریب آپ بھی دیکھیں گے اور وہ بھی دیکھ لیں گے۔

- Arabic: بِاَيِّكُمُ الْمَفْتُوْنُ
- Transliteration: BI AYYIKUMUL MAFTOON.
- English: Which of you is afflicted with madness.
- Urdu: کہ دیوانہ کون ہے۔

- Arabic: اِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيْلِهٖ وَهُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِيْنَ
- Transliteration: INNAA RABBAKA HUWA A’LAMU BIMAN DALLA ’AN SABEELIHEE WA HUWA A’LAMU BILMUHTADEEN.
- English: Surely your Lord best knows him who errs from His way, and He best knows the followers of the right course.
- Urdu: آپ کا پروردگار بہتر جانتا ہے کہ کون اس کے راستہ سے بہک گیا ہے اور کون ہدایت یافتہ ہے۔

- Arabic: فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ
- Transliteration: FALAA TUTI’IL MUKAZZIBEEN.
- English: So do not yield to the rejecters.
- Urdu: لہذا آپ جھٹلانے والوں کی اطاعت نہ کریں۔

- Arabic: وَدُّوْا لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُوْنَ
- Transliteration: WADDOO LAW TUDHINU FA-YUDHINOON.
- English: They wish that you should be pliant so they (too) would be pliant.
- Urdu: یہ چاہتے ہیں کہ آپ ذرا نرم ہو جائیں تو یہ بھی نرم ہو جائیں۔

- Arabic: وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِيْنٍ
- Transliteration: WA LAA TUTI’ KULLA HALLAA FIM MAHEEN.
- English: And yield not to any mean swearer
- Urdu: اور خبردار آپ کسی بھی مسلسل قسم کھانے والے ذلیل۔

- Arabic: هَمَّازٍ مَشَّاۗءٍۢ بِنَمِيْمٍ
- Transliteration: HAMMAAZIM MASH SHAAA’IM BINAMEEM.
- English: Defamer, going about with slander
- Urdu: عیب جو اور اعلٰی درجہ کے چغلخور۔

- Arabic: مَنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ اَثِيْمٍ
- Transliteration: MANNAA’IL LILKHAIRI MU’TADIN ASEEM.
- English: Forbidder of good, outstepping the limits, sinful
- Urdu: مال میں بیحد بخل کرنے والے، تجاوز گناہگار۔

- Arabic: عُتُلٍّۢ بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ زَنِيْمٍ
- Transliteration: UTULLIM BA’DA ZAALIKA ZANEEM.
- English: Ignoble, besides all that, base-born;
- Urdu: بدمزاج اور اس کے بعد بدنسل کی اطاعت نہ کریں۔

- Arabic: اَنْ كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَّبَنِيْنَ
- Transliteration: AN KAANA ZAA MAALINW-WA BANEEN.
- English: Because he possesses wealth and sons.
- Urdu: صرف اس بات پر کہ یہ صاحبِ مال و اولاد ہے۔

- Arabic: اِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِ اٰيٰتُنَا قَالَ اَسَاطِيْرُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ
- Transliteration: IZAA TUTLAA ’ALAIHI AAYAATUNAA QAALA ASAATEERUL AWWALEEN.
- English: When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore.
- Urdu: جب اس کے سامنے آیاتِ الٰہیہ کی تلاوت کی جاتی ہے تو کہہ دیتا ہے کہ یہ سب اگلے لوگوں کی داستانیں ہیں۔

- Arabic: سَنَسِمُهٗ عَلَى الْخُرْطُوْمِ
- Transliteration: SANASIMUHOO ’ALAL KHURTOOM.
- English: We will brand him on the nose.
- Urdu: ہم عنقریب اس کی ناک پر نشان لگا دیں گے۔

- Arabic: اِنَّا بَلَوْنٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ اَصْحٰبَ الْجَنَّةِ اِذْ اَقْسَمُوْا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِيْنَ
- Transliteration: INNAA BALAWNAAHUM KAMAA BALAWNAAA AS-HAABAL JANNATI IZ ’AQSAMOO LA-YASRI MUNNAHAA MUSBIHEEN.
- English: Surely We will try them as We tried the owners of the garden, when they swore that they would certainly cut off the produce in the morning
- Urdu: ہم نے ان کو اسی طرح آزمایا ہے جس طرح باغ والوں کو آزمایا تھا جب انہوں نے قسم کھائی تھی کہ صبح کو پھل توڑ لیں گے۔

- Arabic: وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُوْنَ
- Transliteration: WA LAA YASTASNOON.
- English: And were not willing to set aside a portion (for the poor).
- Urdu: اور انشاء اللہ نہیں کہیں گے۔

- Arabic: فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَاۗئِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَاۗئِمُوْنَ
- Transliteration: FATAAFA ’ALAIHAA TAAA’I FUM MIR RABBIKA WA HUM NAAA’IMOON.
- English: Then there encompassed it a visitation from your Lord while they were sleeping.
- Urdu: تو خدا کی طرف سے راتوں رات ایک بلا نے چکر لگایا جب یہ سب سو رہے تھے۔

- Arabic: فَاَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيْمِ
- Transliteration: FA ASBAHAT KASSAREEM.
- English: So it became as black, barren land.
- Urdu: اور سارا باغ جل کر کالی رات جیسا ہو گیا۔

- Arabic: فَتَنَادَوْا مُصْبِحِيْنَ
- Transliteration: FATANAADAW MUSBIHEEN.
- English: And they called out to each other in the morning
- Urdu: پھر صبح کو ایک نے دوسرے کو آواز دی۔

- Arabic: اَنِ اغْدُوْا عَلٰى حَرْثِكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰرِمِيْنَ
- Transliteration: ANIGHDOO ’ALAA HARSIKUM IN KUNTUM SAARIMEEN.
- English: Saying: Go early to your tilth if you would cut (the produce).
- Urdu: کہ پھل توڑنا ہے تو اپنے اپنے کھیت کی طرف چلو۔

- Arabic: فَانْطَلَقُوْا وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُوْنَ
- Transliteration: FANTALAQOO WA HUM YATAKHAAFATOON.
- English: So they went, while they consulted together secretly
- Urdu: پھر سب گئے اس عالم میں کہ آپس میں راز دارانہ باتیں کر رہے تھے۔

- Arabic: اَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِيْنٌ
- Transliteration: AL LAA YADKHULANNAHAL YAWMA ’ALAIKUM MISKEEN.
- English: Saying: No poor man shall enter it today upon you.
- Urdu: کہ خبردار آج باغ میں کوئی مسکین داخل نہ ہونے پائے۔

- Arabic: وَغَدَوْا عَلٰى حَرْدٍ قٰدِرِيْنَ
- Transliteration: WA GHADAW ’ALAA HARDIN QAADIREEN.
- English: And in the morning they went, having the power to prevent.
- Urdu: اور روک تھام کا بندوبست کر کے صبح سویرے پہنچ گئے۔

- Arabic: فَلَمَّا رَاَوْهَا قَالُوْٓا اِنَّا لَضَاۗلُّوْنَ
- Transliteration: FALAMMAA RA AWHAA QAALOOO INNAA LADAAALLOON.
- English: But when they saw it, they said: Most surely we have gone astray.
- Urdu: اب جو باغ کو دیکھا تو کہنے لگے کہ ہم تو بہک گئے۔

- Arabic: بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُوْمُوْنَ
- Transliteration: BAL NAHNU MAHROOMOON.
- English: Nay! we are made to suffer privation.
- Urdu: بلکہ بالکل سے محروم ہو گئے۔

- Arabic: قَالَ اَوْسَطُهُمْ اَلَمْ اَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُوْنَ
- Transliteration: QAALA AWSATUHUM ALAM AQUL LAKUM LAW LAA TUSABBIHOON.
- English: The best of them said: Did I not say to you, Why do you not glorify (Allah)?
- Urdu: تو ان کے منصف مزاج نے کہا کہ میں نے نہ کہا تھا کہ تم لوگ تسبیح پروردگار کیوں نہیں کرتے۔

- Arabic: قَالُوْا سُبْحٰنَ رَبِّنَآ اِنَّا كُنَّا ظٰلِمِيْنَ
- Transliteration: QAALOO SUBHAANA RABBINAAA INNAA KUNNAA ZAALIMEEN.
- English: They said: Glory be to our Lord, surely we were unjust.
- Urdu: کہنے لگے کہ ہمارا رب پاک و بے نیاز ہے اور ہم واقعًا ظالم تھے۔

- Arabic: فَاَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ يَّتَلَاوَمُوْنَ
- Transliteration: FA AQBALA BA’DUHUM ’ALAA BA’DINY YATALAAWAMOON.
- English: Then some of them advanced against others, blaming each other.
- Urdu: پھر ایک نے دوسرے کو ملامت کرنا شروع کر دی۔

- Arabic: قَالُوْا يٰوَيْلَنَآ اِنَّا كُنَّا طٰغِيْنَ
- Transliteration: QAALOO YAA WAILANAAA INNAA KUNNAA TAAGHEEN.
- English: Said they: O woe to us! surely we were inordinate:
- Urdu: کہنے لگے کہ افسوس ہم بالکل سرکش تھے۔

- Arabic: عَسٰى رَبُّنَآ اَنْ يُّبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَآ اِنَّآ اِلٰى رَبِّنَا رٰغِبُوْنَ
- Transliteration: ASAA RABBUNAAA ANY YUBDILANAA KHAIRAM MINHAAA INNAAA ILAA RABBINAA RAAGHIBOON.
- English: Maybe, our Lord will give us instead one better than it; surely to our Lord do we make our humble petition.
- Urdu: شائد ہمارا پروردگار ہمیں اس سے بہتر دے دے کہ ہم اس کی طرف رغبت کرنے والے ہیں۔

- Arabic: كَذٰلِكَ الْعَذَابُ وَلَعَذَابُ الْاٰخِرَةِ اَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُوْا يَعْلَمُوْنَ
- Transliteration: KAZAALIKAL AZAAB, WA LA’AZAABUL AAKHIRATI AKBAR; LAW KAANOO YA’LAMOON.
- English: Such is the chastisement, and certainly the chastisement of the hereafter is greater, did they but know!
- Urdu: اسی طرح عذاب نازل ہوتا ہے اور آخرت کا عذاب تو اس سے بڑا ہے اگر انہیں علم ہو۔

- Arabic: اِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِيْنَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِيْمِ
- Transliteration: INNA LILMUTTAQEENA ’INDA RABBIHIM JANNAATIN NA’EEM.
- English: Surely those who guard (against evil) shall have with their Lord gardens of bliss.
- Urdu: بےشک صاحبانِ تقویٰ کے لئے پروردگار کے یہاں نعمتوں کی جنّت ہے۔

- Arabic: اَفَنَجْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ كَالْمُجْرِمِيْنَ
- Transliteration: AFANAJ’ALUL MUSLIMEENA KALMUJRIMEEN.
- English: What! shall We then make (i.e. treat) those who submit as the guilty?
- Urdu: کیا ہم اطاعت گزار وں کو مجرموں جیسا بنا دیں۔

- Arabic: مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُوْنَ
- Transliteration: MAA LAKUM KAIFA TAHKUMOON.
- English: What has happened to you? How do you judge?
- Urdu: تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے کیسا فیصلہ کر رہے ہو۔

- Arabic: اَمْ لَكُمْ كِتٰبٌ فِيْهِ تَدْرُسُوْنَ
- Transliteration: AM LAKUM KITAABUN FEEHI TADRUSOON.
- English: Or have you a book wherein you read
- Urdu: یا تمہاری کوئی کتاب ہے جس میں یہ سب پڑھا کرتے ہو۔

- Arabic: اِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيْهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُوْنَ
- Transliteration: INNA LAKUM FEEHI LAMAA TAKHAIYAROON.
- English: That you have surely therein what you choose?
- Urdu: کہ وہاں تمہاری پسند کی ساری چیزیں حاضر ملیں گی۔

- Arabic: اَمْ لَكُمْ اَيْمَانٌ عَلَيْنَا بَالِغَةٌ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ اِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُوْنَ
- Transliteration: AM LAKUM AYMAANUN ’ALAINAA BAALIGHATUN ILAA YAWMIL QIYAAMATI INNA LAKUM LAMAA TAHKUMOON.
- English: Or have you received from Us an agreement confirmed by an oath extending to the day of resurrection that you shall surely have what you demand?
- Urdu: یا تم نے ہم سے روزِ قیامت تک کی قسمیں لے رکھی ہیں کہ تمہیں وہ سب کچھ ملے گا جس کا تم فیصلہ کرو گے۔

- Arabic: سَلْهُمْ اَيُّهُمْ بِذٰلِكَ زَعِيْمٌ
- Transliteration: SALHUM AYYUHUM BIZAA LIKA ZA’EEM.
- English: Ask them which of them will vouch for that
- Urdu: ان سے پوچھئے کہ ان سب باتوں کا ذمہ دار کون ہے۔

- Arabic: اَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاۗءُ فَلْيَاْتُوْا بِشُرَكَاۗئِهِمْ اِنْ كَانُوْا صٰدِقِيْنَ
- Transliteration: AM LAHUM SHURAKAAA’U FAL YA’TOO BISHURAKAAA ’IHIM IN KAANOO SAADIQEEN.
- English: Or have they some associates. Then let them bring their associates if they are truthful.
- Urdu: یا ان کے لئے شرکاء ہیں تو اگر یہ سچے ہیں تو اپنے شرکاء کو لے آئیں۔

- Arabic: يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَنْ سَاقٍ وَّيُدْعَوْنَ اِلَى السُّجُوْدِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيْعُوْنَ
- Transliteration: YAWMA YUKSHAFU ’AM SAAQINW WA YUD’AWNA ILAS SUJOODI FALAA YASTATEE’OON.
- English: On the day when there shall be a severe affliction, and they shall be called upon to make obeisance, but they shall not be able
- Urdu: جس دن پنڈلی کھول دی جائے گی اور انہیں سجدوں کی دعوت دی جائے گی اور یہ سجدہ بھی نہ کر سکیں گے۔

- Arabic: خَاشِعَةً اَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ وَّقَدْ كَانُوْا يُدْعَوْنَ اِلَى السُّجُوْدِ وَهُمْ سٰلِمُوْنَ
- Transliteration: KHAASHI’ATAN ABSAARUHUM TARHAQUHUM ZILLATUNW WA QAD KAANOO YUD’AWNA ILASSUJOODI WA HUM SAALIMOON.
- English: Their looks cast down, abasement shall overtake them; and they were called upon to make obeisance indeed while yet they were safe.
- Urdu: ان کی نگاہیں شرم سے جھکی ہوں گی ذلّت ان پر چھائی ہو گی اور انہیں اس وقت بھی سجدوں کی دعوت دی جا رہی تھی جب یہ بالکل صحیح و سالم تھے۔

- Arabic: فَذَرْنِيْ وَمَنْ يُّكَذِّبُ بِهٰذَا الْحَدِيْثِ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ
- Transliteration: FAZARNEE WA MANY YUKAZZIBU BIHAAZAL HADEESI SANASTAD RIJUHUM MIN HAISU LAA YA’LAMOON.
- English: So leave Me and him who rejects this announcement; We will overtake them by degrees, from whence they perceive not:
- Urdu: تو اب مجھے اور اس بات کے جھٹلانے والوں کو چھوڑ دو ہم عنقریب انہیں اس طرح گرفتار کریں گے کہ انہیں اندازہ بھی نہ ہو گا۔

- Arabic: وَاُمْلِيْ لَهُمْ اِنَّ كَيْدِيْ مَتِيْنٌ
- Transliteration: WA UMLEE LAHUM; INNA KAIDEE MATEEN.
- English: And I do bear with them, surely My plan is firm.
- Urdu: اور ہم تو اس لئے ڈھیل دے رہے ہیں کہ ہماری تدبیر مضبوط ہے۔

- Arabic: اَمْ تَسْئَلُهُمْ اَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُوْنَ
- Transliteration: AM TAS’ALUHUM AJRAN FAHUM MIN MAGHRAMIN MUSQALOON.
- English: Or do you ask from them a reward, so that they are burdened with debt?
- Urdu: کیا آپ ان سے مزدوری مانگ رہے ہیں جو یہ اس کے تاوان کے بوجھ سے دبے جا رہے ہیں۔

- Arabic: اَمْ عِنْدَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُوْنَ
- Transliteration: AM ’INDAHUMUL GHAIBU FAHUM YAKTUBOON.
- English: Or have they (the knowledge of) the unseen, so that they write (it) down?
- Urdu: یا ان کے پاس کوئی غیب ہے جسے یہ لکھ رہے ہیں۔

- Arabic: فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُنْ كَصَاحِبِ الْحُوْتِ اِذْ نَادٰى وَهُوَ مَكْظُوْمٌ
- Transliteration: FASBIR LIHUKMI RABBIKA WA LAA TAKUN KASAAHIBIL HOOT; IZ NAADAA WA HUWA MAKZOOM.
- English: So wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, and be not like the companion of the fish, when he cried while he was in distress.
- Urdu: اب آپ اپنے پروردگار کے حکم کے لئے صبر کریں اور صاحبِ (قومِ یونس) حوت جیسے نہ ہو جائیں جب انہوں نے نہایت غصّہ کے عالم میں آواز دی تھی۔

- Arabic: لَوْلَآ اَنْ تَدٰرَكَهٗ نِعْمَةٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّهٖ لَنُبِذَ بِالْعَرَاۗءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُوْمٌ
- Transliteration: LAW LAAA AN TADAARA KAHOO NI’MATUM MIR RABBIHEE LANUBIZA BIL’ARAAA’I WA HUWA MAZMOOM.
- English: Were it not that favor from his Lord had overtaken him, he would certainly have been cast down upon the naked ground while he was blamed.
- Urdu: کہ اگر انہیں نعمتِ پروردگار نے سنبھال نہ لیا ہوتا تو انہیں چٹیل میدان میں برے حالوں میں چھوڑ دیا جاتا۔

- Arabic: فَاجْتَبٰهُ رَبُّهٗ فَجَعَلَهٗ مِنَ الصّٰلِحِيْنَ
- Transliteration: FAJTABAAHU RABBUHOO FAJA’ALAHOO MINAS SAALIHEEN.
- English: Then his Lord chose him, and He made him of the good.
- Urdu: پھر ان کے رب نے انہیں منتخب کر کے نیک کرداروں میں قرار دے دیا۔

- Arabic: وَاِنْ يَّكَادُ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَيُزْلِقُوْنَكَ بِاَبْصَارِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا الذِّكْرَ وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ اِنَّهٗ لَمَجْنُوْنٌ
- Transliteration: WA INY-YAKAADUL LAZEENA KAFAROO LA-YUZLIQOONAKA BIABSAARIHIM LAMMAA SAMI’UZ-ZIKRA WA YAQOOLOONA INNAHOO LAMAJNOON.
- English: And those who disbelieve would almost smite you with their eyes when they hear the reminder, and they say: Most surely he is mad.
- Urdu: اور یہ کفاّر قرآن کو سنتے ہیں تو ایسا لگتا ہے کہ عنقریب آپ کو نظروں سے پھسلا دیں گے اور یہ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو دیوانے ہیں۔

- Arabic: وَمَا هُوَ اِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعٰلَمِيْنَ
- Transliteration: WA MAA HUWA ILLAA ZIKRUL LIL’AALAMEEN.
- English: And it is naught but a reminder to the nations.
- Urdu: حالانکہ یہ قرآن عالمین کے لئے نصیحت ہے اور بس۔

- Transliteration: SADAQALLAHUL ALIYYUL AZEEM
- English: Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.
- Urdu: اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
