Khums

Khums has two halves and they are not interchangeable. The Centre does not currently hold written permission (ijaza) to receive sahm-e-Imam on your behalf, so it is not collected here. Paying it to someone without that permission would not discharge your obligation.

  • Khums -- Sahm-e-Imamسهم الإمام

Sahm-e-Imam must be paid to your marja, or to someone holding his written permission (ijaza). The Centre does not currently hold an ijaza, so it cannot accept this half on your behalf -- paying it here would not discharge your obligation. Use the official channels shown below.

  • Khums -- Sahm-e-Sadatسهم السادة

Whether sahm-e-Sadat requires your marja's permission differs between maraji. The Centre will confirm its position before accepting this half.

Please pay khums through your own marja’s office or an authorised wakil. If you are unsure which applies to you, speak to the Centre’s alim.

About your gift

The Fatima Zahra Imamia Centre is a registered charity (ABN 66 129 175 686) registered with the ACNC.

Donations are not tax deductible. In Australia, advancing religion is not a deductible gift recipient category, so gifts to the Centre for religious purposes cannot be claimed. Any receipt the Centre issues says so.
