شیخ صدوقؒ نے معتبر سند کے ساتھ امام علی رضاؑ سے اور حضرتؑ نے اپنے آباءِ طاہرینؑ کے واسطے سے امیرالمومنینؑ سے روایت کی ہے کہ آپ نے فرمایا: ایک روز(جمعہ) رسول اللہؐ نے ہمیں خطبہ دیتے ہوئے ارشاد فرمایا۔۔۔
اَیُّهَا النَّاسُ! اِنَّهٗ قَدْ اَقْبَلَ اِلَیْكُمْ شَهْرُ اللهِ بِالْبَرَكَۃِ وَالرَّحْمَۃِ وَالْمَغْفِرَۃِ شَهْرٌ هُوَ عِنْدَ اللهِ اَفْضَلُ الشُّهُوْرِ وَاَیَّامُهٗ اَفْضَلُ الْاَیَّامِ وَلَیَالِیْهٖ اَفْضَلُ اللَّیَالِیْ، وَسَاعَاتُهٗ اَفْضَلُ السَّاعَاتِ هُوَ شَهْرٌ دُعِیْتُمْ فِیْهِ اِلٰی ضِیَافَۃِ اللهِ وَجُعِلْتُمْ فِیْهِ مِنْ اَهْلِ كَرَامَۃِ اللهِ اَنْفَاسُكُمْ تَسْبِیْحٌ، وَنَوْمُكُمْ فِیْهِ عِبَادَۃٌ، وَعَمَلُكُمْ فِیْهِ مَقْبُوْلٌ، وَدُعَاؤُكُمْ فِیْهِ مُسْتَجَابٌ فَاسْئَلُوا اللهَ رَبَّكُمْ بِنِیَّاتٍ صَادِقَۃٍ وَقُلُوْبٍ طَاهِرَۃٍ، اَنْ یُّوَفِّقَكُمْ لِصِیَامِهٖ وَتِلَاوَۃِ كِتَابِهٖ فَاِنَّ الشَّقِیَّ مَنْ حُرِمَ غُفْرَانَ اللهِ فِیْ هٰذَا الشَّهْرِ الْعَظِیْمِ وَاذْكُرُوْا بِجُوْعِكُمْ وَعَطَشِكُمْ فِیْهِ جُوْعَ یَوْمِ الْقِیَامَۃِ وَعَطَشَهٗ، وَتَصَدَّقُوْا عَلٰی فُقَرَآئِكُمْ وَمَسَاكِیْنِكُمْ وَوَقِّرُوْا كِبَارَكُمْ، وَارْحَمُوْا صِغَارَكُمْ۔
Ayyuhaa an-naas!
Innahoo qad aqbala ilaykum shahru allaahi bil-barakati war-rahmati wal-maghfirati shahrun huwa 'inda allaahi afdalu ash-shuhoori wa-ayyaamuhoo afdalu al-ayyaami walayaaleehee afdalu al-layaalee, wasaa'aatuhoo afdalu as-saa'aati huwa shahrun du'eetum feehi ilaa diyaafati allaahi waju'iltum feehi min ahli karaamati allaahi anfaasukum tasbeehun, wanawmukum feehi 'ibaadatun, wa'amalukum feehi maqboolun, wadu'aa'ukum feehi mustajaabun fas'aloo allaaha rabbakum biniyyaatin saadiqatin waquloobin taahiratin, an yuwaffiqakum lisiyaamihee watilaawati kitaabihee fa-inna ash-shaqiyya man hurima ghufraana allaahi fee haazaa ash-shahri al-'azeemi wazkuroo bijoo'ikum wa'atashikum feehi joo'a yawmi al-qiyaamati wa'atashahoo, watasaddaqoo 'alaa fuqaraa'ikum wamasaakeenikum wawaqqiroo kibaarakum, warhamoo sighaarakum.
O people, the month of Allah (Ramazan) has come upon you with blessings, mercy, and forgiveness. This month is the most favorable month in the view of Almighty Allah. Its days are the best days. Its nights are the best nights. Its hours are the best hours. In this month, you have been invited to the hospitality of Almighty Allah and you have been chosen to be within the people of Almighty Allah’s honoring. Your breaths in this month are (considered) glorification (of Almighty Allah). Your sleep in this month is (considered) an act of worship. Your deeds are accepted in this month. Your prayers are responded in this month. You may thus pray Almighty Allah with sincere intentions and pure hearts that He will guide you to observing fasting (properly) and to reciting His Book in this month. Verily, the true miserable is he who is deprived of Almighty Allah’s forgiveness in this magnificent month. As you feel hunger and thirst in this month, you should remember the hunger and thirst of the Resurrection Day. Give alms to the poor and the needy among you. Respect those who are older than you are. Have mercy upon those who are younger than you are.
اے لوگو! تمہاری طرف رحمتوں اور برکتوں والا مہینہ آرہا ہے، جس میں گناہ معاف ہوتے ہیں،یہ مہینہ خدا کے ہاں سارے مہینوں سے افضل و بہتر ہے، جس کے دن دوسرے مہینوں کے دنوں سے بہتر، جس کی راتیں دوسرے مہینوں کی راتوں سے بہتر اور جس کی گھڑیاں دوسرے مہینوں کی گھڑیوں سے بہتر ہیں۔ یہی وہ مہینہ ہے جس میں حق تعالیٰ نے تمہیں اپنی مہمان نوازی میں بلایا ہے اور اس مہینے میں خدا نے تمہیں بزرگی والے لوگوں میں قرار دیا ہے کہ اس میں سانس لینا تمہاری تسبیح اور تمہارا سونا عبادت کا درجہ پاتا ہے۔ اس میں تمہارے اعمال قبول کیے جاتے اور دعائیں منظور کی جاتی ہیں، اب تم اچھی نیت اور بری باتوں سے دلوں کے پاک کرنے کے ساتھ اس ماہ میں خدا ئے تعالیٰ سے سوال کرو کہ وہ تم کو اس ماہ کے روزے رکھنے اور اس میں تلاوتِ قرآن کرنے کی توفیق عطا کرے ،کیوں کہ جو شخص اس بڑائی والے مہینے میں خدا کی طرف سے بخشش سے محروم رہ گیا وہ بدبخت اور بدانجام ہوگا۔ اس مہینے کی بھوک پیاس میں قیامت والی بھوک پیاس کا تصور کرو، اپنے فقیروں اور مسکینوں کو صدقہ دو، بوڑھوں کی تعظیم کرو، چھوٹوں پر رحم کرو۔
وَصِلُوْا اَرْحَامَكُمْ وَاحْفَظُوْا اَلْسِنَتَكُمْ وَغُضُّوْا عَمَّا لَا یَحِلُّ النَّظَرُ اِلَیْهِ اَبْصَارَكُمْ وَعَمَّا لَا یَحِلُّ الْاِسْتِمَاعُ اِلَیْهِ اَسْمَاعَكُمْ وَتَحَنُّوْا عَلٰی اَیْتَامِ النَّاسِ یُتَحَنَّنُ عَلٰی اَیْتَامِكُمْ وَتُوْبُوْا اِلَی اللهِ مِنْ ذُنُوْبِكُمْ وَارْفَعُوْا اِلَیْهِ اَیْدِیَكُمْ بِالدُّعَاءِ فِیْ اَوْقَاتِ صَلَوَاتِكُمْ فَاِنَّهَا اَفْضَلُ السَّاعَاتِ یَنْظُرُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِیْهَا بِالرَّحْمَۃِ اِلٰی عِبَادِهٖ یُجِیْبُهُمْ اِذَا نَاجَوْهُ وَیُلَبِّیْهِمْ اِذَا نَادَوْهُ وَیُعْطِیْهِمْ اِذَا سَئَلُوْهُ، وَیَسْتَجِیْبُ لَهُمْ اِذَا دَعَوْهُ۔
Wasiloo arhaamakum wahfazoo alsinatakum waghuddoo 'ammaa laa yahillu an-nazaru ilayhi absaarakum wa'ammaa laa yahillu al-istimaa'u ilayhi asmaa'akum watahannoo 'alaa aytaami an-naasi yutahannanu 'alaa aytaamikum watooboo ilaa allaahi min zunoobikum warfa'oo ilayhi aydiyakum bid-du'aa'i fee awqaati salawaatikum fa-innahaa afdalu as-saa'aati yanzuru allaahu 'azza wajalla feehaa bir-rahmati ilaa 'ibaadihee yujeebuhum izaa naajawhu wayulabbeehim izaa naadawhu wayu'teehim izaa sa'aloohu, wayastajeebu lahum izaa da'awh.
Esteem your ties with your relatives. Keep your tongues from obscenity. Cast down your looks from all that which is unlawful for you to gaze and close your hearings against all that which is unlawful for you to hear. Treat kindly the orphans among you so that your orphans will be treated kindly. Repent from your sins. Raise your hands towards Him (i.e. Almighty Allah) with supplications at the times of your prayers, for these times are the best hours at which Almighty Allah looks at His servants with mercy, He will respond to their prayers, answer their calls, and receive their supplications.
رشتہ داروں کے ساتھ نرمی و مہربانی کرو اپنی زبانوں کو ان باتوں سے بچاؤ کہ جو نہ کہنی چاہئیں، جن چیزوں کا دیکھنا حلال نہیں ان سے اپنی نگاہوں کو بچائے رکھو، جن چیزوں کا سننا تمہارے لیے جائز نہیں ان سے اپنے کانوں کو بند رکھو، دوسرے لوگوں کے یتیم بچوں پر رحم کرو تا کہ تمہارے بعد لوگ تمہارے یتیم بچوں پر رحم کریں ،اپنے گناہوں سے توبہ کرو، خدا کی طرف رخ کرو، نمازوں کے بعد اپنے ہاتھ دعا کے لیے اٹھاؤ کہ یہ بہترین اوقات ہیں جن میں حق تعالیٰ اپنے بندوں کی طرف نظرِ رحمت فرماتا ہے۔ اور جو بندے اس وقت اس سے مناجات کرتے ہیں وہ ان کو جواب دیتا ہے اور جو بندے اسے پکارتے ہیں ان کی پکار پر لبیک کہتا ہے، جب وہ اس سے مانگتے ہیں تو انہیں عطا کرتا ہے اور جب دعا کرتے ہیں تو ان کی دعا قبول کرتا ہے۔
اَیُّهَا النَّاسُ! اِنَّ اَنْفُسَكُمْ مَرْهُوْنَۃٌ بِاَعْمَالِكُمْ، فَفُكُّوْهَا بِاِسْتِغْفَارِكُمْ وَظُهُوْرَكُمْ ثَقِیْلَۃٌ مِنْ اَوْزَارِكُمْ فَخَفِّفُوْا عَنْهَا بِطُوْلِ سُجُوْدِكُمْ وَاعْلَمُوْآ اَنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اَقْسَمَ بِعِزَّتِهٖ اَنْ لَّا یُعَذِّبَ الْمُصَلِّیْنَ وَالسَّاجِدِیْنَ وَاَنْ لَّا یُرَوِّعَهُمْ بِالنَّارِ یَوْمَ یَقُوْمُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِیْنَ۔
اَیُّهَا النَّاسُ! مَنْ فَطَّرَ مِنْكُمْ صَآئِمًا مُؤْمِنًا فِیْ هٰذَا الشَّهْرِ كَانَ لَهٗ بِذٰالِكَ عِنْدَ اللهِ عِتْقُ رَقَبَۃٍ، وَمَغْفِرَۃٌ لِّمَا مَضٰی مِنْ ذُنُوْبِهٖ قِیْلَ یَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ (ص): وَلَیْسَ كُلُّنَا یَقْدِرُ عَلٰی ذَالِكَ فَقَالَ صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَآلِهٖ وَسَلَّمَ اِتَّقُوْا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَۃٍ اِتَّقُوْا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشَرْبَۃٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ۔
Ayyuhaa an-naas!
Inna anfusakum marhoonatun bi-a'maalikum, fafukkoohaa bi-istighfaarikum wazuhoorakum thaqeelatun min awzaarikum fakhaffifoo 'anhaa bitooli sujoodikum wa'lamoo'aa anna allaaha 'azza wajalla aqsama bi'izzatihee an laa yu'azziba al-musalleena was-saajideena wa-an laa yurawwi'ahum bin-naari yawma yaqoomu an-naasu lirabbi al-'aalameen.
Ayyuhaa an-naas!
Man fattara minkum saa'iman mu'minan fee haazaa ash-shahri kaana lahoo bizaalika 'inda allaahi 'itqu raqabatin, wamaghfiratun limaa madaa min zunoobihee qeela yaa rasoola allaahi (s): walaysa kullunaa yaqdiru 'alaa zaalika faqaala sallaa allaahu 'alayhi wa-aalihee wasallama ittaqoo an-naara walaw bishiqqi tamratin ittaqoo an-naara walaw bisharbatin min maa'.
O people, truly, your souls are dependent upon your deeds; therefore, try to free them by means of imploring for forgiveness. Likewise, your backs are heavily burdened by your sins; therefore, try to lighten the burdens on your backs by means of long prostration (before your Lord). Let it be known to you that Almighty Allah has sworn by His Might that He shall not chastise the performers of prayers and those who prostrate before Him and that He shall not frighten them with Hellfire on that day when all humankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds. O people, if anyone of you gives food to a faster (i.e. an observer of fasting) to break his fasting this month, he shall be awarded by Almighty Allah the reward of manumitting a bond Muslim as well as a forgiveness of all his past sins.” The attendants asked, “O Allah’s Messenger, not all of us can do this!” The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) answered, “Guard yourselves against the Fire even with half a date. Guard yourselves against the Fire even with a single drink of water.
اے لوگو! اس میں شک نہیں کہ تمہاری جانیں گروی پڑی ہیں۔ تم خدا سے مغفرت طلب کرکے ان کو چھڑانے کی کوشش کرو۔ تمہاری کمریں گناہوں کے بوجھ سے دبی ہوئی ہیں تم زیادہ سجدے کرکے ان کا بوجھ ہلکا کرو، کیوں کہ خدا نے اپنی عزت و عظمت کی قسم کھارکھی ہے کہ اس مہینے میں نمازیں پڑھنے اور سجدے کرنے والوں کو عذاب نہ دے اور قیامت میں ان کو جہنم کی آگ کا خوف نہ دلائے اے لوگو! جو شخص اس ماہ میں کسی مؤمن کا روزہ افطار کرائے تو اسے گناہوں کی بخشش اور ایک غلام کوآزاد کرنے کا ثواب ملے گا۔ آنحضرتؐ کے اصحاب میں سے بعض نے عرض کی :یا رسولؐ اللہ! ہم سب تو اس عمل کی توفیق نہیں رکھتے ؟!تو آپؐ نے فرمایا: تم افطار میں آدھی کھجور یا ایک گھونٹ شربت دے کر بھی خود کو آتشِ جہنم سے بچا سکتے ہو۔ کیوں کہ حق تعالیٰ اس کو بھی پورا اجر دے گا جو اس سے کچھ زیادہ دینے کی توفیق نہ رکھتا ہو۔
اَیُّهَا النَّاسُ! مَنْ حَسَّنَ مِنْكُمْ فِیْ هٰذَا الشَّهْرِ خُلْقَهٗ كَانَ لَهٗ بِذَالِكَ جَوَازًا عَلَی الصِّرَاطِ، یَوْمَ تَزِلُّ فِیْهِ الْاَقْدَامُ وَمَنْ خَفَّفَ فِیْ هٰذَا الشَّهْرِ عَمَّا مَلَكَتْ یَمِیْنُهٗ، خَفَّفَ اللهُ عَلَیْهِ حِسَابَهٗ، وَمَنْ كَفَّ فِیْهِ شَرَّهٗ كَفَّ اللهُ عَنْهٗ غَضَبَهٗ یَوْمَ یَلْقَاهٗ وَمَنْ اَكْرَمَ فِیْهِ یَتِیْمًا اَكْرَمَهُ اللهُ یَوْمَ یَلْقَاهٗ وَمَنْ وَصَلَ فِیْهِ رَحِمَهٗ، وَصَلَهُ اللهُ بِرَحْمَتِهٖ یَوْمَ یَلْقَاهٗ وَمَنْ قَطَعَ فِیْهِ رَحِمَهٗ قَطَعَ اللهُ عَنْهٗ رَحْمَتَهٗ یَوْمَ یَلْقَاهٗ وَمَنْ تَطَوَّعَ فِیْهِ بِصَلَاۃٍ كَتَبَ اللهُ لَهٗ بَرَائَۃً مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَنْ اَدّٰی فِیْهِ فَرْضًا، كَانَ لَهٗ ثَوَابُ مَنْ اَدّٰی سَبْعِیْنَ فَرِیْضَۃً، فِیْمَا سِوَاهُ مِنَ الشُّهُوْرِ وَمَنْ اَكْثَرَ فِیْهِ مِنَ الصَّلَاۃِ عَلَیَّ، ثَقَّلَ اللهُ مِیْزَانَهٗ یَوْمَ تَخِفُّ الْمَوَازِیْنُ وَمَنْ تَلَا فِیْهِ آیَۃً مِّنَ الْقُرْآنْ، كَانَ لَهٗ مِثْلُ اَجْرِ مَنْ خَتَمَ الْقُرْآنَ فِیْ غَیْرِهٖ مِنْ الشُّهُوْرِ۔
Ayyuhaa an-naas!
Man hassana minkum fee haazaa ash-shahri khulqahoo kaana lahoo bizaalika jawaazan 'alaa as-siraati, yawma tazillu feehi al-aqdaamu waman khaffafa fee haazaa ash-shahri 'ammaa malakat yameenuhoo, khaffafa allaahu 'alayhi hisaabahoo, waman kaffa feehi sharrahoo kaffa allaahu 'anhoo ghadabahoo yawma yalqaahoo waman akrama feehi yateeman akramahu allaahu yawma yalqaahoo waman wasala feehi rahimahoo, wasalahu allaahu birahmatihee yawma yalqaahoo waman qata'a feehi rahimahoo qata'a allaahu 'anhoo rahmatahoo yawma yalqaahoo waman tatawwa'a feehi bisalaatin kataba allaahu lahoo baraa'atan mina an-naari waman addaa feehi fardan, kaana lahoo thawaabu man addaa sab'eena fareedatan, feemaa siwaahu mina ash-shuhoori waman akthara feehi mina as-salaati 'alayya, thaqqala allaahu meezaanahoo yawma takhiffu al-mawaazeenu waman talaa feehi aayatan mina al-qur'aan, kaana lahoo mithlu ajri man khatama al-qur'aana fee ghayrihee min ash-shuhoor.
O people, as to those among you who behave politely in this month, they shall be permitted to pass the Discriminating Bridge (Seerat) on the day when many feet will slip (ie. the Resurrection Day). As to those among you who relieve their servants from a part of their jobs, Almighty Allah shall make easy for them the interrogation on the Resurrection Day. As to those who stop bothering the others, Almighty Allah shall save them from His ire on the day when they shall meet Him. As to those who honor an orphan in this month, Almighty Allah shall honor them on the day when they will meet Him. As to those who keep good ties with their relatives in this month, Almighty Allah will keep good ties with them through His mercy on the day when they will meet Him. On the other hand, as to those who rupture their relations with their relatives in this month, Almighty Allah will prevent them from receiving His mercy on the day when they will meet Him. As to those who voluntarily offer a prayer in this month, Almighty Allah will release them from Hellfire. As to those who perform a religious rite in this month, they shall be given the reward of performing seventy religious rites in other months. As to those who very frequently invoke Almighty Allah’s blessings upon me in this month, Almighty Allah shall make their scales heavy (i.e. full of good deeds) when the others’ scales will be light (i.e. lacking good deeds). As to those who recite a single verse of the Qur’an in this month, they shall have the reward of one who has recited the whole Qur’an in other months.
اے لوگو! جو شخص اس مہینے میں اپنے اخلاق درست کرے تو حق تعالیٰ قیامت میں اس کو پلِ صراط سے با آسانی گزاردے گا۔ جب کہ لوگوں کے پاؤں پھسل رہے ہوں گے۔ جو شخص اس مہینے میں اپنے غلام اور لونڈی سے تھوڑی خدمت لے تو قیامت میں خدا اس کا حساب سہولت کے ساتھ لے گا، اور جو شخص اس مہینے میں اپنے شر کو روکے رکھے تو جس دن وہ خدا سے ملے گا خدا اس سے اپنا غضب روک لے گا، اور جو شخص اس مہینے میں کسی یتیم کو عزت اور مہربانی کی نظر سے دیکھے تو قیامت میں خدا اس کو احترام کی نگاہ سے دیکھے گا۔ جوشخص اس مہینے میں اپنے رشتہ داروں سے نیکی اور اچھائی کا برتاؤ کرے تو حق تعالیٰ قیامت میں اس کو اپنی رحمت کے ساتھ ملائے رکھے گا اور جو شخص اپنے قریبی عزیزوں سے بدسلوکی کرے تو خدا روزِ قیامت اسے اپنے سایۂ رحمت سے محروم رکھے گا۔ جوشخص اس مہینے میں سنتی نمازیں بجا لائے تو خدا ئے تعالیٰ قیامت کے دن اسے دوزخ سے برأت نامہ(نجات) عطا کرے گا۔ اور جو شخص اس ماہ میں اپنی واجب نمازیں ادا کرے تو اسے دوسرے مہینوں میں ستر فرض ادا کرنے کا ثواب ملے گا، اور جو شخص اس مہینے میں مجھ پر کثرت سے درود بھیجے توحق تعالیٰ اس کے اعمال کا پلّہ بھاری کردے گا جب کہ دوسرے لوگوں کے پلّے ہلکے ہوں گے۔ جو شخص اس مہینے میں قرآن پاک کی ایک آیت پڑھے تو خداوند کریم اس کے لیے کسی اور مہینے کی بہ نسبت ختمِ قرآن کا ثواب لکھے گا،
اَیُّهَا النَّاسُ! اِنَّ اَبْوَابَ الْجِنَانِ فِیْ هٰذَا الشَّهْرِ مُفَتَّحَۃٌ فَاسئَلُوْا رَبَّكُمْ اَنْ لَّا یُغَلِّقَهَا عَنْكُمْ وَاَبْوٰابَ النِّیْرَانِ مُغَلَّقَۃٌ، فَاسْئَلُوْا رَبَّكُمْ اَنْ لَّا یُفَتِّحَهَا عَلَیْكُمْ وَالشَّیَاطِیْنُ مَغْلُوْلَۃٌ، فَاسْئَلُوْا رَبَّكُمْ اَنْ لَا یُسَلِّطَهَا عَلَیْكُمْ۔
Ayyuhaa an-naas!
Inna abwaaba al-jinaani fee haazaa ash-shahri mufattahatun faas'aloo rabbakum an laa yughalliqahaa 'ankum wa-abwaaba an-neeraani mughallaqatun, fas'aloo rabbakum an laa yufattihahaa 'alaykum wash-shayaateenu maghloolatun, fas'aloo rabbakum an laa yusallitahaa 'alaykum.
O people, certainly, the gates of Paradise are open wide in this month; therefore, pray your Lord not to close them before you. Similarly, the gates of Hellfire are closed in this month; therefore, pray your Lord not to open them for you. Devils are tied up in this month; therefore, pray your Lord not to set them up over you...”
اے لوگو! بے شک اس ماہ میں جنت کے دروازے کھلے ہوئے ہیں لہٰذا اللہ تعالیٰ سے دعا کرو کہ وہ انہیں تم پر بند نہ کرے۔ دوزخ کے دروازے اس مہینے میں بند ہیں لہٰذا خدائے تعالیٰ سے سوال کرو کہ وہ انہیں تم پر نہ کھولے اور شیطانوں کو اس مہینے میں زنجیروں میں جکڑ دیا جاتا ہےلہٰذا خدا سے سوال کرو کہ وہ انہیں تم پر مسلط نہ ہونے دے ۔
قَالَ اَمِیْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ! فَقُمْتُ فَقُلْتُ یَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ (ص) مَا اَفْضَلُ الْاَعْمَالِ فِیْ هٰذَا الشَّهْرِ؟ فَقَالَ: یَا اَبَا الْحَسَنِ! اَفْضَلُ الْاَعْمَالِ فِیْ هٰذَا الشَّهْرِ، اَلْوَرَعُ عَنْ مَحَارِمِ اللهِ ثُمَّ بَكٰی، فَقُلْتُ یَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ مَا یُبْكِیْكَ؟ فَقَالَ یَا عَلِیُّ! اَبْكِیْ لِمَا یُسْتَحَلُّ مِنْكَ فِیْ هٰذَا الشَّهْرِ، كَاَنِّیْ بِكَ وَاَنْتَ تُصَلِّیْ لِرَبِّكَ وَقَدِ انْبَعَثَ اَشْقَی الْاَوَّلِیْنَ وَالْاٰخِرِیْنَ، شَقِیْقُ عَاقِرِ نَاقَۃِ ثَمُوْدَ فَضَرَبَكَ ضَرْبَۃً عَلٰی فَرْقِكَ فَخَضَبَ مِنْهَا لِحْیَتَكَ۔
قَالَ اَمِیْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ: فَقُلْتُ یَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ (ص): وَذٰلِكَ فِیْ سَلَامَۃٍ مِنْ دِیْنِیْ؟ فَقَالَ (ص) فِیْ سَلَامَۃٍ مِنْ دِیْنِكَ۔
Qaala ameeru al-mu'mineena 'alayhi as-salaam!
Faqumtu faqultu yaa rasoola allaahi (s) maa afdalu al-a'maali fee haazaa ash-shahr?
Faqaala: yaa abaa al-hasan!
Afdalu al-a'maali fee haazaa ash-shahri, al-wara'u 'an mahaarimi allaahi thumma bakaa, faqultu yaa rasoola allaahi maa yubkeek?
Faqaala yaa 'aliyy!
Abkee limaa yustahallu minka fee haazaa ash-shahri, ka-annee bika wa-anta tusallee lirabbika waqadi inba'atha ashqaa al-awwaleena wal-aakhireena, shaqeequ 'aaqiri naaqati thamooda fadarabaka darbatan 'alaa farqika fakhadaba minhaa lihyatak.
Qaala ameeru al-mu'mineena 'alayhi as-salaamu: faqultu yaa rasoola allaahi (s): wazaalika fee salaamatin min deenee?
Faqaala (s) fee salaamatin min deenik.
The Commander of the Faithful (Ali (a)) said that he got up and said, "O the Prophet of Allah (s) What is the best deed in this month?" He (s) replied," O Abul Hasan! abstaining from the matters forbidden by Allah, the Majestic, the Glorified, is the best deed in this month. "Then he (the Prophet) (s) wept. Ali (a) asked, "O the Messenger of Allah! What makes you weep?" He (s) replied, "O Ali (a) I weep for what they will do with you in this month. As if I am with you, and you are offering prayers to your Lord, when the worst of the foregone, and those who are yet to come, a brother of the person who slew the camel of Samood has come and gives you a (sword) blow on your head, which reddens your beard." The Commander of the Faithful said: I asked, "O the Prophet of Allah, will that be for the safety of my Faith" He (s) replied, "Yes, it will be with the safety of your Faith
حضرت امیر المومنین مولا علیؑ نے فرمایا کہ آپ پر اللہ کی رحمت ہو، میں نے حضرت رسول خداؐ کے احترام میں کھڑے ہو کر کہا یا رسول اللہؐ اس مقدس مہینے میں سب سے بہترین اعمال کون سے ہیں؟ حضرت رسول خداؐ نے فرمایا کہ: اے ابو الحسن ماہ رمضان میں بہترین اعمال تقویٰ اور گناہوں سے پرہیز ہے۔ پھر آپ گریہ فرمانے لگے تو میں نے پوچھا کہ آپ گریہ کیوں کر رہے ہیں؟ فرمایا: اے علی! میں اس پر روتا ہوں جو اس مہینے میں تمہارے ساتھ روا رکھا جائے گا۔ گویا میں دیکھ رہا ہوں کہ تم اپنے رب کی نماز پڑھ رہے ہو اور اگلوں پچھلوں میں سب سے بدبخت، قومِ ثمود کی اونٹنی کی کونچیں کاٹنے والے کا بھائی (ابن ملجم) اٹھا اور اس نے تمہارے سر کے بیچ ضربت لگائی جس سے تمہاری داڑھی خون سے رنگین ہو گئی، تو اُس وقت حضرت علیؑ نے فرمایا، کیا میرا دین سالم رہے گا؟ حضور پر نور نے فرمایا کہ ہاں تمہارا دین سالم رہے گا۔
ثُمَّ قَالَ یَا عَلِیُّ: مَنْ قَتَلَكَ فَقَدْ قَتَلَنِیْ وَمَنْ اَبْغَضَكَ فَقَدْ اَبْغَضَنِیْ، وَمَنْ سَبَّكَ فَقَدْ سَبَّنِیْ لِاَنَّكَ مِنِّیْ كَنَفْسِیْ، رُوْحُكَ مِنْ رُوْحِیْ، وَطِیْنَتُكَ مِنْ طِیْنَتِیْ اِنَّ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالٰی خَلَقَنِیْ وَاِیَّاكَ، وَاصْطَفَانِیْ وَاِیَّاكَ وَاخْتَارَنِیْ لِلنُّبُوَّۃِ، وَاخْتَارَكَ لِلْاِمَامَۃِ، فَمَنْ اَنْكَرَ اِمَامَتَكَ فَقَدْ اَنْكَرَ نُبُوَّتِیْ۔
یَا عَلِیُّ! اَنْتَ وَصِیِّیْ، وَاَبُوْ وَلَدَیْ، وَزَوْجُ ابْنَتِیْ وَخَلِیْفَتِیْ عَلٰی اُمَّتِیْ فِیْ حَیَاتِیْ وَبَعْدَ مَوْتِیْ، اَمْرُكَ اَمْرِیْ، وَنَهْیُكَ نَهْیِیْ اُقْسِمُ بِالَّذِیْ بَعَثَنِیْ بِالنُّبُوَّۃِ وَجَعَلَنِیْ خَیْرَ الْبَرِیَّۃِ اِنَّكَ لَحُجَّۃُ اللهِ عَلٰی خَلْقِهٖ وَاَمِیْنُهٗ عَلٰی سِرِّهٖ، وَخَلِیْفَتُهٗ عَلٰی عِبَادِهٖ وَصَلَّی اللهُ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِهِ الطَّیِّبِیْنَ الطَّاهِرِیْنَ الْمَعْصُوْمِیْنَ (ع)۔
Thumma qaala yaa 'aliyyu: man qatalaka faqad qatalanee waman abghadaka faqad abghadanee, waman sabbaka faqad sabbanee li-annaka minnee kanafsee, roohuka min roohee, wateenatuka min teenatee inna allaaha tabaaraka wata'aalaa khalaqanee wa-iyyaaka, wastafaanee wa-iyyaaka wakhtaaranee lin-nubuwwati, wakhtaaraka lil-imaamati, faman ankara imaamataka faqad ankara nubuwwatee.
Yaa 'aliyy!
Anta wasiyyee, wa-aboo waladay, wazawju ibnatee wakhaleefatee 'alaa ummatee fee hayaatee waba'da mawtee, amruka amree, wanahyuka nahyee uqsimu billazee ba'athanee bin-nubuwwati waja'alanee khayra al-bariyyati innaka lahujjatu allaahi 'alaa khalqihee wa-ameenuhoo 'alaa sirrihee, wakhaleefatuhoo 'alaa 'ibaadihee wasallaa allaahu 'alaa muhammadin wa-aalihi at-tayyibeena at-taahireena al-ma'soomeena (').
O Ali (a) whoever kills you has killed me; whoever hates you has hated me; whoever abuses you has abused me; because, indeed you are to me like my own self; your soul is from my soul; your nature is from my nature; Indeed Allah the Holiest and the Greatest, created me and you too; He chose me and you too; He selected me for Prophethood and selected you for Imamat; whoever denies your Imamat, has denied my Prophethood. O Ali (a) you are my successor, father of my children, my son in-law, and my Khalifa over my (Ummat) people, both during my life and after my death. Your order is my order, your prohibition is my prohibition. I swear by Him who made me the Prophet and made me the best of the people, indeed you are the Proof of Allah for His creatures, His Trustee of His Secrets, and His vicegerent over His servants. May Allah bless Muhammad and his good, pure and infallible Progeny (a.s).
پھر فرمایا: اے علی! جس نے تمہیں قتل کیا اس نے مجھے قتل کیا، جس نے تم سے بغض رکھا اس نے مجھ سے بغض رکھا، اور جس نے تمہیں برا کہا اس نے مجھے برا کہا، کیونکہ تم مجھ سے میرے نفس کی مانند ہو، تمہاری روح میری روح سے ہے اور تمہاری طینت میری طینت سے ہے۔ بے شک اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ نے مجھے اور تمہیں پیدا کیا، مجھے اور تمہیں چن لیا، مجھے نبوت کے لیے اختیار کیا اور تمہیں امامت کے لیے، پس جس نے تمہاری امامت کا انکار کیا اس نے میری نبوت کا انکار کیا۔ اے علی! تم میرے وصی، میرے بچوں کے باپ، میری بیٹی کے شوہر اور میری زندگی میں اور میری موت کے بعد میری امت پر میرے خلیفہ ہو۔ تمہارا حکم میرا حکم ہے اور تمہاری نہی میری نہی ہے۔ میں اس ذات کی قسم کھاتا ہوں جس نے مجھے نبوت کے ساتھ مبعوث کیا اور مجھے تمام مخلوق سے بہتر قرار دیا، کہ تم یقیناً اس کی مخلوق پر اللہ کی حجت، اس کے راز کے امین اور اس کے بندوں پر اس کے خلیفہ ہو۔ اور اللہ رحمت نازل فرمائے محمدؐ اور ان کی پاکیزہ، طاہر اور معصوم آلؑ پر۔
