شیخ ابن فہدؒ نے امام جعفر صادق ؑ سے نقل کیا ہے کہ آپؑ نے فرمایا: ہر وہ دعا جس کے آغاز میں خدا کی تمجید و بزرگی اور ثناء و تعریف نہ ہو وہ ابتر و ناکام ہوتی ہے پہلے خدا کی تمجید ہوتی ہے پھر ثناء اور تعریف ہوتی ہے، راوی نے پوچھا :کم سے کم تمجید کیا ہے جو کافی ہو سکتی ہے؟ آپؑ نے فرمایا: یوں کہا کرو۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ اَنْتَ الْاَوَّلُ فَلَيْسَ قَبْلَكَ شَيْءٌ وَاَنْتَ الْآخِرُ فَلَيْسَ بَعْدَكَ شَيْءٌ وَاَنْتَ الظَّاهِرُ فَلَيْسَ فَوْقَكَ شَيْءٌ وَاَنْتَ الْبَاطِنُ فَلَيْسَ دُوْنَكَ شَيْءٌ وَاَنْتَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ۔
Allaahumma antal awwalo fa-laiy-sa qab-laka shaiy-oon wa antal aa-khero fa-laiy-sa ba’daka shaiy-oon wa antaz zaahe-ro fa-laiy-sa faw-qa-ka shaiy-oon wa antal baate-no fa-laiy-sa doo-naka shaiy-oon wa antal ‘azee-zul hakeem.
O Allah, You are the First nothing is before You; and You are the Last nothing is after You. You are the Manifest nothing is above You; and You are the Hidden nothing is beneath You. And You are the Mighty, the Wise.
اے معبود! تو ایسا اول ہے کہ تجھ سے پہلے کوئی چیز نہ تھی، تو ایسا آخر ہے کہ تیرے بعد کوئی چیز نہ ہو گی، تو ایسا ظاہر ہے کہ تجھ سے اوپر کوئی چیز نہیں، تو ایسا باطن ہے کہ تجھ سے نیچے کوئی چیز نہیں اور تو غالب ہے حکمت والا۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allahumma swalle alaa muhammadiw wa aale muhammadin
Allah’s (s.w.t) choicest blessings be upon Mohammed and his holy progeny.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔
