Food from Paradise

جنت سے غذا

1. Dua for the request of a Maedah descent from the sky.

2. It is narrated from Ibne Abbas, in a lengthy traditional report that when once the Holy Prophet (s) came to the house of Lady Fatima Zahra (s) he found her pale faced and her eyes sunken. He asked: My dearest one, why are you so pale and emaciated? She replied: We have not eaten since the last three days. He offered some advice and Fatima went into the room and prayed two units of prayer; and then raising her hands to the heavens said…

   ابن عباس نے ایک طویل حدیث میں روایت کی ہے۔ ایک دن نبی اکرم حضرت فاطمہ کے پاس تشریف لائے تودیکھا کہ آپ کا چہرہ زرد ہے۔ آنحضرتؐ نے سبب دریافت کیا تو عرض کیا کہ تین دنوں سے کوئی غذا نہیں کھائی۔ اس وقت ایک کمرے میں گئیں اور جائے نماز بچھائی اور ۲ رکعت نماز ادا فرمائی اور ہاتھوں کی ہتھیلیوں کو آسمان کی طرف بلند کیا، اور عرض کیا۔۔۔

3. بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

   BISMI ALLAAHI AR-RAHMAANI AR-RAHEEM

   In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

   اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

4. اِلٰهِیْ وَسَیِّدِیْ هٰذَا مُحَمَّدٌ نَبِیُّكَ، وَهٰذَا عَلِیٌّ اِبْنُ عَمِّ نَبِیِّكَ، وَهٰذَانِ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَیْنُ سِبْطَا نَبِیِّكَ۔ اِلٰهِیْ اَنْزِلْ عَلَیْنَا مَآئِدَۃً مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ كَمَا اَنْزَلْتَهَا عَلٰی بَنِیْ اِسْرَآئِیْلَ، اَكَلُوْا مِنْهَا وَكَفَرُوْا بِهَا، اَللّٰهُمَّ اَنْزِلْهَا عَلَیْنَا فَاِنَّا بِهَا مُؤْمِنُوْنَ۔

   ILAAHEE WASAYYIDEE HAAZAA MUHAMMADUN NABIYYUKA, WAHAAZAA 'ALIYYUN IBNU 'AMMI NABIYYIKA, WAHAAZAANI AL-HASANU WAL-HUSAYNU SIBTAA NABIYYIK. ILAAHEE ANZIL 'ALAYNAA MAA'IDATAN MINA AS-SAMAA'I KAMAA ANZALTAHAA 'ALAA BANEE ISRAA'EELA, AKALOO MINHAA WAKAFAROO BIHAA, ALLAAHUMMA ANZILHAA 'ALAYNAA FA-INNAA BIHAA MU'MINOON.

   My God, my Lord, this Muhammad is your messenger, this Ali is the cousin of your Prophet and this Hasan and Husain are the grandsons of your Prophet. My God, send down upon us from the heavens the same table of food as You sent down upon Bani Israel; but they ate from it and then denied the bounty. O Allah, send it upon us and we would remain steadfast on faith.

   اے پروردگار، اے میرے مولا، یہ آپ کے نبی محمد ہیں اور یہ علی آپ کے نبی کے چچا زاد بھائی ہیں یہ حسن اور حسین ہیں جو آپ کے نبی کے نواسے ہیں۔ پروردگار ہم پر مائدہ نازل فرما جس طرح بنی اسرائیل پر نازل فرمایا تھا ان لوگوں نے اسے کھایا اور کفران نعمت کی۔ پروردگار تو اسے ہم پر نازل فرما ہم اس پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں۔

5. In another narration it has come in this way…

   ایک اور روایت میں یوں ہے۔۔۔

6. اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّ فَاطِمَۃَ بِنْتَ نَبِیِّكَ قَدْ اَضَرَّ بِهَا الْجُوْعُ، وَهٰذَا عَلِیُّ بْنُ اَبِیْ طَالِبٍ اِبْنُ عَمِّ نَبِیِّكَ قَدْ اَضَرَّ بِهِ الْجُوْعُ، فَاَنْزِلِ اللّٰهُمَّ عَلَیْنَا مَآئِدَۃً مِنَ السَّمَآئِ كَمَا اَنْزَلْتَهَا عَلٰی بَنِیْ اِسْرَآئِیْلَ فَكَفَرُوْا وَاِنَّا مُؤْمِنُوْنَ۔

   ALLAAHUMMA INNA FAATIMATA BINTA NABIYYIKA QAD ADARRA BIHAA AL-JOO'U, WAHAAZAA 'ALIYYU IBNU ABEE TAALIBIN IBNU 'AMMI NABIYYIKA QAD ADARRA BIHI AL-JOO'U, FA-ANZILI ALLAAHUMMA 'ALAYNAA MAA'IDATAN MINA AS-SAMAA'I KAMAA ANZALTAHAA 'ALAA BANEE ISRAA'EELA FAKAFAROO WA-INNAA MU'MINOON.

   O God, this Fatima is the daughter of your Prophet, who is distressed by hunger, and this Ali Ibne Abi Talib is the cousin of your Prophet, who is distressed by hunger; so O God, send down upon us from the heavens a table of food like You sent upon Bani Israel, but they adopted denial, but we are believers.

   پروردگار بیشک فاطمہ تیرے نبی کی بیٹی بھوک سے پریشان ہے۔ یہ علی تیرے نبی کے چچا زاد بھائی بھوک سے نڈھال ہے۔ پس ہم پر آسمان سے مائدہ نازل فرما۔ جس طرح بنی اسرائیل پر فرمایا تو انہوں نے انکار کیا اور ہم اقرار کرنے والے ہیں۔

7. اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔

   ALLAAHUMMA SALLI 'ALAA MUHAMMADIN WA-AALI MUHAMMAD.

   O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.

   اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آلؑ پر۔

8. Ibne Abbas said: The supplication had not yet concluded when a tray of food came down from above her.
