Preparing Kafan of Dead

مرنے والے کا کفن

1. When he completes his vow by death, his eyes must be closed, his hands stretched out, his mouth shut, his legs extended, his jaws pulled, and his shrouds prepared. The shroud is required to consist of 3 pieces; an apron, a shirt, and a loincloth. However, it is recommended to add a fourth piece, which is a special wrap usually used by the people of Yemen, or any other loincloth. It is furthermore recommended to use a fifth piece of clothes with which the thighs and the hip are tied up. Moreover, it is recommended to use a sixth piece of clothes as a turban. In addition, some camphor that has not been cooked with fire may be added in a quantity ranging between thirteen and a third dirham, four mithqals, or one dirham at least. If this is unfeasible, any quantity may be used. On each of these shrouds, the following words may be written down…

   جب اس کی روح پرواز کر جائے تو اسے سیدھا لٹا کر اس کی آنکھیں بند کر دی جائیں بازو سیدھے کر کے پہلوؤں کے ساتھ لگا دیئے جائیں اس کا منہ بند کیا جائے پنڈلیاں کھینچ کر سیدھی کر دی جائیں اور اس کی ٹھوڑی باندھ دی جائے ۔ اس کے بعد کفن کے حصول کی کوشش شروع کر دی جائے ۔کفن میں واجب ۳ کپڑے ہیں یعنی لنگ، کفنی اور بڑی چادر، مستحب ہے کہ ان کپڑوں کے علاوہ یمنی چادر بھی ہو یا کوئی اور چادر ہو اس کے علاوہ ایک پانچواں کپڑا بھی ہے جسے ران پیچ کہتے ہیں جو میت کی رانوں پر لپیٹا جاتا ہے۔ نیز مستحب ہے کہ مذکورہ کپڑوں کے علاوہ اسے عمامہ بھی باندھا جائے پھر اس کے لیے کافور مہیا کیا جائے جو آگ میں پکا ہوا نہ ہو افضل یہ ہے کہ اس کا وزن ۱۳ درہم اور ایک تہائی درہم ہو، اس کا اوسط وزن ۴ مثقال اور کم از کم ایک درہم ہو اور اگر اتنا کافور ملنا بھی مشکل ہو تو پھر جتنا بھی ملے وہ حاصل کیا جائے، بہتر ہے کہ کفن میں سے ہر کپڑے پر یہ لکھا جائے۔۔۔

2. يَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ وَاَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُوْلُ اللهِ وَاَنَّ عَلِيًّا اَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْاَئِمَّةِ مِنْ وُلْدِهٖ وَاَنَّ اَوَّلَهُمُ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ وَعَلِىُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيْ وَجَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَمُوْسَى بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَعَلِىُّ بْنُ مُوْسٰى وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيْ وَعَلِىُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيْ وَالْقَآئِمُ الْحُجَّةُ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ اَئِمَّتُهٗ اَئِمَّةُ الْهُدَى الْاَبْرَارُ۔

   YASHHADU AN LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ALLAAHU WAHDAHOO LAA SHAREEKA LAHOO WA-ANNA MUHAMMADAN RASOOLU ALLAAHI WA-ANNA 'ALIYYAN AMEERA AL-MU'MINEENA WAL-A'IMMATI MIN WULDIHEE WA-ANNA AWWALAHUMU AL-HASANU WAL-HUSAYNU WA'ALIYYU IBNU AL-HUSAYNI WAMUHAMMADU IBNU 'ALEE WAJA'FARU IBNU MUHAMMADIN WAMOOSAA IBNU JA'FARIN WA'ALIYYU IBNU MOOSAA WAMUHAMMADU IBNU 'ALEE WA'ALIYYU IBNU MUHAMMADIN WAL-HASANU IBNU 'ALEE WAL-QAA'IMU AL-HUJJATU 'ALAYHIMU AS-SALAAMU A'IMMATUHOO A'IMMATU AL-HUDAA AL-ABRAAR.

   [Write the name of mayyit] bears witness that there is no god save Allah, One and Only and having no associate, that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, that Ali is the commander of the believers, and that the Imams from his progeny: Hasan, Husain, Ali the son of Husain, Muhammad the son of Ali, Ja`far the son of Muhammad, Moosa the son of Ja`far, Ali the son of Moosa, Muhammad the son of Ali, Ali the son of Muhammad, Hasan the son of Ali, and the Rising Argument-person, peace be upon them all are his Imams. They are the pious leaders to true guidance.

   (میت کا نام)گواہی دیتا ہے کہ نہیں کوئی معبود مگر ﷲ جو یکتا ہے کوئی اس کا شریک نہیں ، یہ کہ حضرت محمدؐ ﷲ کے رسول ہیں حضرت علیؑ مومنوں کے امیر ہیں اور جو امام ان کی اولاد میں ہیں کہ ان میں اول حسنؑ ہیں اور حسینؑ، علی ابن الحسینؑ محمد ابن علیؑ، جعفر ابن محمدؑ،موسیٰ ابن جعفرؑ،علی ابن موسیٰؑ، محمد ابن علیؑ، علی ابن محمدؑ،حسن ابن علیؑ اور حجت القائمؑ اس کے امام ہیں جو ہدایت و نیکی والے امام ہیں۔

3. This inscription may be written with water with which soil of Imam Husain’s tomb or with the finger is mixed. It must not be written with black color.

   اس کے بعد یہ سب کچھ خاکِ شفا یا انگلی سے لکھا جائے، سیاہی سے نہیں۔
