Prompting the Dead
میت کو تلقین کرے
Before lining up bricks, it is recommended to prompt the dead person to say the two creeds of Islam and the Holy Imams by names. Hence, the prompter, addressing the dead person, should say: يا so and so بن the son of so and so…
مستحب ہے کہ میت کو شہادتین اور ائمہ طاہرینؑ کے ناموں کی اس وقت تلقین کی جائے، جب اسے قبر میں اتارا جا چکا ہو اور قبر کو بند نہ کیا گیا ہو پس تلقین کرنے والا کہے:یافلاں ابن فلاں، یعنی میت کا نام اور اس کے باپ کا نام لے کر کہے۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
BISMI ALLAAHI AR-RAHMAANI AR-RAHEEM
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اُذْكُرِ الْعَهْدَ الَّذِىْ خَرَجْتَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ دَارِ الدُّنْيَا شَهَادَةَ اَنْ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَاشَرِيْكَ لَهٗ وَاَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهٗ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ وَاَنَّ عَلِيًّا اَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ اَئِمَّتُكَ اَئِمَّةُ الْهُدَى الْاَبْرَارِ۔
UZKURI AL-'AHDA ALLAZEE KHARAJTA 'ALAYHI MIN DAARI AD-DUNYAA SHAHAADATA AN LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ALLAAHU WAHDAHOO LAASHAREEKA LAHOO WA-ANNA MUHAMMADAN 'ABDUHOO WARASOOLUHOO WA-ANNA 'ALIYYAN AMEERA AL-MU'MINEENA WAL-HASANA WAL-HUSAYNA A'IMMATUKA A'IMMATU AL-HUDAA AL-ABRAAR.
Remember the covenant on which you have departed the abode of this world: the profession that there is no god save Allah, One and Only and having no associate, that Muhammad (s.a.w.a) is His servant and messenger, and that Ali (a.s) the Commander of the Faithful, Hasan (a.s), Husain (a.s) they are the pious leaders to true guidance.
اس عہد کو یاد کر جس پر تو دنیا کے گھر سے رخصت ہوا، یعنی اس بات کی گواہی کہ نہیں کوئی معبود مگر ﷲ جو یکتا ہے کوئی اس کا شریک نہیں اور یہ کہ حضرت محمدؐ اس کے بندے اور رسول ہیں۔ نیز یہ کہ علیؑ مومنوں کے امیر اور حسنؑ اور حسینؑ تیرے امام ہیں جو ہدایت والے خوش کردار ہیں۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
ALLAAHUMMA SALLI 'ALAA MUHAMMADIN WA-AALI MUHAMMAD.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آلؑ پر۔
Upon accomplishing lining up the bricks, the burier, as well as all the attendants advisably using the backsides of their hands, should pour down dust on the dead body. Meanwhile, they are recommended to say these words…
جب قبر پر اینٹیں چن لے تو پھر قبر پر مٹی ڈالیں اور مستحب ہے کہ جو لوگ وہاں موجود ہوں وہ اپنے ہاتھوں کی پشت سے اس پر مٹی ڈالتے ہوئے یہ کہیں۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

اِنَّا لِلهِ وَاِنَّا اِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُوْنَ هٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ وَصَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ۔ اَللّٰهُمَّ زِدْنَا اِيْمَانًا وَتَسْلِيْمًا۔
INNAA LILLAAHI WA-INNAA ILAYHI RAAJI'OONA HAAZAA MAA WA'ADANAA ALLAAHU WARASOOLUHOO WASADAQA ALLAAHU WARASOOLUH. ALLAAHUMMA ZIDNAA EEMAANAN WATASLEEMAA.
We are Allah’s and to Him shall we return. This is what Allah and His Messenger promised us, and Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. O Allah, (please) increase us faith and submission (to You).
یقیناً ہم ﷲ کے ہیں اور اسی کی طرف لوٹیں گے، یہی وہ چیز ہے جس کا وعدہ ہم سے ﷲ و رسولؐ نے کیا اور ﷲ اور اس کے رسولؐ نے سچ فرمایا، اے معبود! ہمارے ایمان و تسلیم میں اضافہ فرما۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
