Hussain ibn Khalid al-Sayrafi asked Imam Reza (a), ‘What was the mark on the ring of the Commander of the Faithful (a)?’ The Imam (a) replied, ‘Why don’t you ask about that of the people before him?’ Then Hussain ibn Khalid al-Sayrafi said, ‘Okay Now I will ask. What was marked on the ring of Adam (a)?’ The Imam (a) replied, ‘It was LAA ILAAHA ILLAL-LAAH. MOHAMMADAR RASOOLULLAAH (There is no god but Allah. Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah). Adam (a) descended to Earth with that ring. When Nuh (a) was about to board the Ark, Allah, Mighty and Majestic be He, revealed to him, ‘O Nuh! If you fear that you will be drowned say ‘There in no god but Allah’ 1000 times and then ask me to rescue you from getting drowned and save those who are with you.’ When Nuh (a) and the people with him climbed aboard the Ark and he released the cable, it became stormy. Nuh (a) feared to get drowned when the storm got stronger. He did not have enough time to say LAA ILAAHA ILLAL-LAAH (There is no god but Allah) 1000 times. So in the Syriac language he said…
حسین ابن خالد السیرافی نے امام رضاؑ سے پوچھا کہ امیر المومنینؑ کی انگوٹھی پر کیا لکھا ہوا تھا؟ امامؑ نے فرمایا: تم اُن سے پہلے والوں کے بارے میں کیوں سوال نہیں کرتے؟ پھر حسین ابن خالد السیرافی نے کہا: ٹھک ہے تو میں پوچھتا ہو کہ آدمؑ کی انگوٹھی پر کیا لکھا ہوا تھا؟ امامؑ نے فرمایا: لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدَ الرَّسُوْلُ اللهُ (نہیں ہے کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے، محمد اللہ کے رسول ہیں)۔ آدمؑ اُس انگوٹھی کو لے کر زمین پر آئے۔ جب نوحؑ کشتی پر سوار ہو رہے تھے، تب اللہ تعالی نے اُن کو وحی کی: "اے نوح! اگر تمہیں ڈر ہے کہ تم ڈوب جاؤوگے تو ۱۰۰۰ مرتبہ کہوں: "نہیں ہے کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے" اور پھر مجھ سے دعا مانگوں، کہ میں آپ کو اور آپ کے ساتھیوں کو ڈوبنے سے بچا ؤں۔ جب نوحؑ اور اُن کے ساتھی کشتی پر سوار ہوئے اور رسی کو کھول کر کشتی کو رواں کیا تو وہ پانی کے موجوں سے ڈگمگانے لگی۔ جب طوفان تیز ہوا تو نوحؑ کو کشتی ڈوب جانے کا خوف ہوا۔ اُن کے پاس اتنا وقت نہیں تھا کہ وہ ۱۰۰۰ مرتبہ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ کہتے، تو اُنہوں نے شامی زبان میں کہا۔۔۔
هَيْلُوْلِيًا اَلْفًا اَلْفًا يَا مَارِيَا يَا مَارِيَا اتْقِنْ۔
HAIY-LOOLE-YAN AL-FAN, AL-FAN YAA MAARE-YAA, YAA MAARE-YAT-QIN.
Haiy-loole-yan a 1000 times, a 1000 times. O Waves! O Waves! Calm down!
ہیلولیًا ۱۰۰۰ مرتبہ، ۱۰۰۰ مرتبہ، اے موجے! اے موجے! اے موجے! خاموش ہوجا۔

موجیں خاموش ہو گئی اور کشتی سکون پا گئی۔ نوحؑ نے کہا: جب کہ اللہ کے اس کلام نے مجھے بچا لیا، تو اب یہ کلام مجھ سے جدا نہ ہو۔ لہذا اُنہوں نے اپنی انگوٹھی کے پتھر پر یہ لکھا۔۔۔
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ اَلْفَ مَرَّةٍ يَا رَبِّ اَصْلِحْنِيْ۔
LAA ILAAHA ILLAL-LAAHO ALFA MARRA-TIN YAA RABBE AS-LEH-NEE.
There is no god but Allah a 1000 times; O Lord! Improve me.
نہیں ہے کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے، ۱۰۰۰ مرتبہ، اے پالنے والے میری اصلاح فرما۔
The Imam (a) added, When Ibrahim (a) was placed on the catapult Jibraeel (a) got angry. Allah, Mighty and Majestic be He, sent him a revelation and asked, ‘O Jibraeel! What made you perturbed? Jibraeel (a) said, O Lord! This is Your friend! There is no one else on the Earth who worships you. Now You have let Your enemy overcome him (Ibrahim)! Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic be He, revealed to Jibraeel (a), Relax! Rushing is for someone like you who is scared of death. But as for Me, I consider him to be My servant and can save him whenever I wish. Thus Jibraeel (a)’s soul calmed down and went to Ibrahim (a) and said, ‘Do you need anything?’ Ibrahim (a) said, ‘I have but not from you.’ Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic be He, sent Jibraeel (a) down to him with a ring on which it was written…
پھر امامؑ نے فرمایا: جب ابراہیمؑ کو منجنک پر رکھ کر آگ میں پھینکنا چاہتے تھے، تب جبرائیلؑ کو غصہ آ گیا۔ اللہ تعالی نے اُن سے وحی کے ذریعے پوچھا: اے جبرائیل! تم کو کس بات پر غصہ آ گیا؟ جبرائیلؑ نے فرمایا: اے پروردگار! یہ تیرے دوست (خلیل) ہیں! زمین پر اور کوئی نہیں جو تیری عبادت کرتا ہو۔ اب تو اپنے دشمن کو اُن پر غالب کر رہا ہے۔ تب اللہ تعالی نے جبرائیل کو وحی کے ذریعے کہا: صبر کرو! جلد بازی تم جیسے لوگ کرتے ہیں جن کو موت کا خوف ہو، پر میرے لئے، میں اُن کو میرا بندہ سمجھتا ہو اور میں جب چاہوں تب اُن کو بچا سکتا ہوں۔ لہذا جبرائیلؑ کو اطمینان ہوا اور وہ ابراہیمؑ کے پاس پہنچے اور فرمایا: "تمہیں کچھ خواہش ہے؟" ابراہیمؑ نے فرمایا: مجھے خواہش تو ہے، مگر تم سے نہیں۔ پھر اللہ تعالی نے جبرائیلؑ کو ایک انگوٹھی دے کر ابراہیمؑ کی طرف بھیجا جس پر یہ لکھا ہوا تھا۔۔۔
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ مُـحَمَّدٌ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ فَوَّضْتُ اَمْرِيْ اِلَى اللهِ اَسْنَدْتُ ظَهْرِيْ اِلَى اللهِ حَسْبِيَ اللہُ۔
LAA ILAAHA ILLAL-LAAHO MOHAMMA-DOON RASOO-LUL-LAAHE LAA HAWLA WALAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAA-HE FAW-WAZTO AMREE ILAL-LAAHE AS-NADTO ZAHREE ILAL-LAAHE HASBE-YAL-LAAHO.
There is no god but Allah. Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. There is no power nor any strength save by Allah. I entrust my affairs to Allah. I rely on Allah. Allah suffices for me.
نہیں ہے کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے۔ محمد اللہ کے رسول ہیں، نہیں ہے کوئی طاقت و قوت مگر اللہ سے، میں اپنے تمام اُمور کو اللہ کے سپرد کرتا ہوں، میں اللہ پر بھروسہ کرتا ہوں، اللہ میرے لئے کافی ہے۔

اللہ تعالی نے اُسے فرمایا: اس کلمات کو اپنی انگوٹھی پر نقش کروا دو تاکہ میں آگ کو تمہارے لئے ٹھنڈی اور سلامت بنا دو۔ پھر امامؑ نے فرمایا: دو ذکر ایسے ہیں جو توریت سے لئے گئے ہیں موسیؑ کی انگوٹھی کے لئے۔۔۔
اِصْبِرْ تُؤْجَرْ اَصْدُقْ تَنْجُ۔
ISBIR TO-JAR AS-DUQ TANJO.
Preserve to get rewarded. Tell the truth to be saved.
حفاظت کرو اجر کو حاصل کرنے کے لئے، سچ کہوں حق کو بچانے کے لئے۔

سُبْحَانَ مَنْ اَلْـجَمَ الْـجِنَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهٖ۔
SUBHAANA MAN AL-JAMAL JINNA BE-KALEMAA-TEHI.
Glorified is He who controlled the genies with His words.
تعریف اُس خدا کی جو اپنے کلمات سے جناتوں پر قادر ہے۔

اور یہ کلمات کو انجیل سے لیا گیا تھا جو نبی عیسیؑ کی انگوٹھی پر لکھا ہوا تھا۔۔۔
طُوْبٰى لِعَبْدٍ ذُكِرَ اللهُ مِنْ اَجْلِهٖ وَوَيْلٌ لِعَبْدٍ نُسِيَ اللهُ مِنْ اَجْلِہٖ۔
TOOBAA LE-ABDIN ZOKE-RAL LAAHO MIN AJLE-HI WA WAIY-LOON LE-A’BDIN NOSE-YAL-LAAHO MIN AJLE-HI.
Prosperous be the one whom Allah makes him remember his death. Woe be to one whom Allah makes him forget his death.
کامیاب ہے وہ جس کو اللہ اُس کی موت کی یاد دلاتا ہے، بدبخت ہے وہ جسے اللہ اُس کی موت سے غافل کر دیتا ہے۔

Hussain ibn Khalid said, “Imam Reza (a) opened up his hand and showed me his father’s ring that was in his hand and what was marked on it.”
حسین ابن خالد کہتے ہیں: امام رضاؑ نے اپنا ہاتھ کھو لا اور اپنے والد کی انگوٹھی دکھائی کہ جس پر یہ لکھا ہوا تھا۔
