Zikr to be recited before Sunrise & Sunset
طلوع و غروب آفتاب سے پہلے پڑھے جانے والا ذکر
Kulayni, Ibn Baabwayh, Shaikh Tusi, and other scholars have reported through valid chains of authority that Imam Sadiq (a) said: It is obligatory upon every Muslim to say the following litany 10 times before sunrise and before sunset every day…
شيخ کلينیؒ، ابن بابويہؒ، شيخ طوسیؒ اور ديگر علماء نے معتبر اسناد کے ساتھ امام جعفر صادقؑ سے روايت کی ہے کہ ہر مسلمان پر واجب ہے کہ طلوع و غروب آفتاب سے پہلے ۱۰ مرتبہ يہ دعا پڑھے۔۔۔
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَاشَرِيْكَ لَهٗ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِىْ وَيُمِيْتُ وَهُوَ حَىُّ لَا يَمُوْتُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ۔
Laa ilaaha illal-laaho wah-dahu laa sharee-ka lahu, lahul mulko wa lahul hamdo yoh-yee wa yomee-to wa howa haiyyo laa ya-mooto be-yade-hil khairo wa howa ‘alaa kulle shai-in qadeer.
There is no god but Allah alone He has no partner. His is the dominion and His is all praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is Ever-Living and does not die. In His hand is all good, and He has power over all things.
نہيں کوئی معبود سواے الله کے وه يکتا ہے کوئی اس کا شريک نہيں، حکومت اسی کی اور حمد اسی کے ليے ہے، وه زنده کرنے اور موت دينے والا ہے اور وه زنده ہے اسے موت نہيں، بھلائی اسی کے ہاتھ میں ہے اور وه ہر چيز پر قدرت رکھتا ہے۔
According to some narrations, the following statement is added to this litany…
بعض روايات کے مطابق يوں ہے۔۔۔
يُحْيِىْ وَ يُمِيْتُ وَيُمِيْتُ وَيُحْيِىْ۔
Yoh-yee wa yomee-to wa yomee-to wa yoh-yee.
He gives life and causes death, and He causes death and gives life.
زنده کرنے موت دينے والا اور موت دينے والا اور زنده کر نے والا ہے۔
The following statement was mentioned in some narrations and missed in others…
اور بعض روايات میں یہ کلمات نہيں ہيں اور بعض ميں موجود ہيں۔۔۔
وَهُوَ حَىُّ لَا يَمُوْتُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرَ۔
Wa howa haiyyo laa yamoo-to be-yade-hil khair.
And He is Ever-Living and does not die; in His hand is all good.
وه زنده ہے اسے موت نہيں بھلائی اسی کے ہاتھ ميں ہے۔
Apparently, whatever form is said is acceptable although it is more acceptable to say the most comprehensive form. Confirming the significance of this litany, some narrations hold that if you miss saying this litany at these times, you may make up for it later on, because, on the word of other narrations, it remits from sins.
اور ظاہرًا يہ تمام صورتيں مناسب ہيں اور اگر ان سبھی جملوں کو ادا کرے تو بہت بہتر ہے۔ بعض روايتوں میں ہے کہ اگر اس دعا کا پڑھنا ترک ہوجاے تو قضاء کرے کہ اس کا پڑھنا لازم ہے اور بعض روايات کے مطابق يہ انسان کے اس دن کے گناہوں کا کفاره ہے۔
