Grave of Mukhtar (a)
قبرِ جنابِ مختار (ع)
He was born in 1 AH. He hosted Muslim ibn Aqil in Kufa but was imprisoned in the dungeons of Ubaydullah ibn Ziyaad during the massacre at Karbala. After his release he launched a campaign under the leadership of Ibrahim ibn Malik’e Ashtar to avenge the martyrdom of Imam Husain (a.s). During his uprising many involved in the martyrdom of Imam Husain (a.s) and his family, were pursued and killed including Shimr ibn Zil Jawshan, Khowli ibn Yazid, Umar ibn Saad and Ubaydullah ibn Ziyaad. After 18 months of rule in Kufa, Mukhtar was killed by Musab ibn Zubair in 67 AH. Recite his ziyarat in the following way…
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
BISMI ALLAAHI AR-RAHMAANI AR-RAHEEM
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْوَلِیُّ النَّاصِحُ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا اَبَا اِسْحَاقَ الْمُخْتَارِ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْآخِذُ بِالثَّاْرِ الْمُحَارِبُ لِلْكَفَرَۃِ الْفُجَّارِ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْمُخْلِصُ لِلهِ فِیْ طَاعَتِهٖ وَلِزَیْنِ الْعَابِدِیْنَ فِیْ مَحَبَّتِهِ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَنْ رَضِیَ عَنْهُ النَّبِیُّ الْمُخْتَارُ وَقَسِیْمُ الْجَنَّۃِ وَالنَّارِ وَكَاشِفُ الْكَرْبِ وَالْغُمَّۃِ قَائِمًا لَمْ یَصِلْ اِلَیْهِ اَحَدٌ مِنَ الْاُمَّۃِ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَنْ بَذَلَ نَفْسَهٗ فِیْ رِضَائِ الْاَئِمَّۃِ فِیْ نُصْرَۃِ الْعِتْرَۃِ الطَّاهِرِیْنَ۔ وَالْآخِذُ بِثَاْرِهِمْ مِنَ الْعِصَابَۃِ الْمَلْعُوْنَۃِ الْفَاجِرَۃِ۔ فَجَزَاكَ اللهُ عَنِ النَّبِیِّ وَعَنْ اَهْلِ بَیْتِهٖ عَلَیْهِمُ السَّلَامُ۔
AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKA AYYUHAA AL-'ABDU AS-SAALIH. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKA AYYUHAA AL-WALIYYU AN-NAASIH. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKA YAA ABAA ISHAAQA AL-MUKHTAAR. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKA AYYUHAA AL-AAKHIZU BITH-THA'RI AL-MUHAARIBU LIL-KAFARATI AL-FUJJAAR. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKA AYYUHAA AL-MUKHLISU LILLAAHI FEE TAA'ATIHEE WALIZAYNI AL-'AABIDEENA FEE MAHABBATIH. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKA YAA MAN RADIYA 'ANHU AN-NABIYYU AL-MUKHTAARU WAQASEEMU AL-JANNATI WAN-NAARI WAKAASHIFU AL-KARBI WAL-GHUMMATI QAA'IMAN LAM YASIL ILAYHI AHADUN MINA AL-UMMAH. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKA YAA MAN BAZALA NAFSAHOO FEE RIDAA'I AL-A'IMMATI FEE NUSRATI AL-'ITRATI AT-TAAHIREEN. WAL-AAKHIZU BITHA'RIHIM MINA AL-'ISAABATI AL-MAL'OONATI AL-FAAJIRAH. FAJAZAAKA ALLAAHU 'ANI AN-NABIYYI WA'AN AHLI BAYTIHEE 'ALAYHIMU AS-SALAAM.
Peace be upon you, O righteous servant! Peace be upon you, O sincere friend! Peace be upon you, O Aba Ishaq al-Mukhtar! Peace be upon you, O avenger, warrior battling against evil disbelievers! Peace be upon you, O the one sincere in his obedience to Allah and in his love for Imam Zayn ul Abedin (a.s). Peace be upon you, O the one with whom were pleased the chosen Prophet, the distributor of heaven and hell and the remover of grief and sorrow. None from the community reach such a position. Peace be upon you, O the one who sacrificed himself to please the Imams by aiding the pure progeny, who avenged them from the cursed evil group. So, may Allah reward you on behalf of the Prophet and his household, peace be upon them.
سلام ہو آپ پر، اے نیک بندے! سلام ہو آپ پر، اے خیر خواہ ولی! سلام ہو آپ پر، اے ابو اسحاق مختار! سلام ہو آپ پر، اے خونِ شہداء کا بدلہ لینے والے، اور کافروں و بدکاروں کے خلاف جہاد کرنے والے۔ سلام ہو آپ پر، اے وہ شخص جو اللہ کی اطاعت میں خالص تھا، اور امام زین العابدینؑ کی محبت میں (بھی) مخلص تھا۔ سلام ہو آپ پر، اے وہ جس سے نبیِ منتخب راضی تھے، اور وہ بھی جسے جنت و جہنم کی تقسیم کرنے والے (امیرالمؤمنینؑ) اور غم و کرب دور کرنے والے (اہلِ بیتؑ) کی رضا حاصل تھی ایسی ثابت قدمی کے ساتھ کہ امت میں کوئی آپ کے مرتبے تک نہ پہنچ سکا۔ سلام ہو آپ پر، اے وہ جس نے اپنی جان ائمہؑ کی رضا کے لیے، اور پاک عترت (اہلِ بیتؑ) کی مدد کے لیے قربان کر دی۔ اور آپ اُن کے خون کا بدلہ لینے والے ہیں اُن ملعون اور بدکار گروہوں سے۔ پس اللہ آپ کو نبیؐ اور اُن کے اہلِ بیتؑ کی طرف سے بہترین جزا عطا فرمائے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
ALLAAHUMMA SALLI 'ALAA MUHAMMADIN WA-AALI MUHAMMAD.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آلؑ پر۔
