Misam-e-Tammar

1. He was a devout and loyal companion of Imam Ali (a.s), from Iranian origin. After Imam Ali (a.s) purchased him and freed him from slavery, he became a date seller and therefore the title ’al-Tammar’. Imam Ali (a.s) taught him many branches of knowledge, including ilm-e-Manaya wal Balaya (esoteric knowledge of future events) and ilm-e-Taweel (interpretation and exegesis of the Qur’an). Imam Ali (a.s) would take him to a nearby desert in the middle of the night to teach him about future affairs/matters/events. Imam Ali (a.s) showed him the tree on which he would be hung till death and Misam used to pray by that tree and talk with it. But even as they hung him, he wouldn’t stop praising the Ahle Bayt (a.s) or stop mentioning the evil conduct of Bani Umayyah. So, Ibn Ziyad ordered his men to cut off his tongue and finally his body was left hanging for a few days.

2. بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

   BISMI ALLAAHI AR-RAHMAANI AR-RAHEEM

   In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

   اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

3. اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَااَمِیْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكِ یَافَاطِمَۃُ الزَّهْرَائِ سَیِّدَۃَ نِسَائِ الْعَالَمِیْنَ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَیْنِ سَیِّدَیْ شَبَابِ اَهْلِ الْجَنَّۃِ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْاَئِمَّۃِ مِنْ ذُرِّیَّۃِ الْحُسَیْنِ عَلَیْهِمُ السَّلَامُ وَرَحْمَۃُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ یَا مَیْثَمُ بْنَ یَحْیَی التَّمَّارَ الْمُطِیْعُ لِلهِ وَلِرَسُوْلِهٖ وَلِاَمِیْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَلِفَاطِمَۃِ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَیْنِ۔ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ قَدْ اَقَمْتَ الصَّلَوۃَ وَآتَیْتَ الزَّكَاۃَ وَاَمَرْتَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ وَنَهَیْتَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَجَاهَدْتَ فِیْ اللهِ حَقَّ جَهَادِهٖ وَعَمِلْتَ بِكِتَابِهٖ مُقْتَدِیًا بِالصَّالِحِیْنَ وَمُتَّبِعًا لِلنَّبِیِّیْنَ وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ قُتِلْتَ مَظْلُوْمًا فَلَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ ظَلَمَكَ وَمَنْ اِفْتَرٰی عَلَیْكَ وَمَنْ اَمَرَ بِقَتْلِكَ وَلَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ نَصَبَ لَكَ الْعَدَاوَۃَ وَالْبَغْضَائَ اِلٰی یَوْمِ الْقِیَامَۃِ وَحَشَی اللهُ قُبُوْرَهُمْ نَارًا وَاَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا اَلِیْمًا جِئْتُكَ اَیُّهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ زَائِرًا قَبْرَكَ مُقِرًّا بِحَقِّكَ مُعْتَرِفًا بِفَضْلِكَ فَاَسْئَلُ اللهَ بِالشَّأْنِ الَّذِیْ لَكَ عِنْدَهٗ اَنْ یُّصَلِّیَ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَاَنْ یَّقْضِیَ لَنَا حَوَائِجَنَا فِیْ الدُّنْیَآ وَالْآخِرَۃِ وَرَحْمَۃُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ۔

   AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKA YAA RASOOLA ALLAAH. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKA YAA AMEERA AL-MU'MINEEN. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKI YAA FAATIMATU AZ-ZAHRAA'I SAYYIDATA NISAA'I AL-'AALAMEEN. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAA AL-HASANI WAL-HUSAYNI SAYYIDAY SHABAABI AHLI AL-JANNAH. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAA AL-A'IMMATI MIN ZURRIYYATI AL-HUSAYNI 'ALAYHIMU AS-SALAAMU WARAHMATU ALLAAHI WABARAKAATUH. AS-SALAAMU 'ALAYKA AYYUHAA AL-'ABDU AS-SAALIHU YAA MAYTHAMU IBNA YAHYAA AT-TAMMAARA AL-MUTEE'U LILLAAHI WALIRASOOLIHEE WALI-AMEERI AL-MU'MINEENA WALIFAATIMATI WAL-HASANI WAL-HUSAYN. ASHHADU ANNAKA QAD AQAMTA AS-SALAWTA WA-AATAYTA AZ-ZAKAATA WA-AMARTA BIL-MA'ROOFI WANAHAYTA 'ANI AL-MUNKARI WAJAAHADTA FEE ALLAAHI HAQQA JAHAADIHEE WA'AMILTA BIKITAABIHEE MUQTADIYAN BIS-SAALIHEENA WAMUTTABI'AN LIN-NABIYYEENA WA-ASHHADU ANNAKA QUTILTA MAZLOOMAN FALA'ANA ALLAAHU MAN ZALAMAKA WAMAN IFTARAA 'ALAYKA WAMAN AMARA BIQATLIKA WALA'ANA ALLAAHU MAN NASABA LAKA AL-'ADAAWATA WAL-BAGHDAA'A ILAA YAWMI AL-QIYAAMATI WAHASHAA ALLAAHU QUBOORAHUM NAARAN WA-A'ADDA LAHUM 'AZAABAN ALEEMAN JI'TUKA AYYUHAA AL-'ABDU AS-SAALIHU ZAA'IRAN QABRAKA MUQIRRAN BIHAQQIKA MU'TARIFAN BIFADLIKA FA-AS'ALU ALLAAHA BISH-SHA'NI ALLAZEE LAKA 'INDAHOO AN YUSALLIYA 'ALAA MUHAMMADIN WA-AALI MUHAMMADIN WA-AN YAQDIYA LANAA HAWAA'IJANAA FEE AD-DUNYAA WAL-AAKHIRATI WARAHMATU ALLAAHI WABARAKAATUH.

   Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah! Peace be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful! Peace be upon you, O Fatima Zahra, leader of the women of the worlds. Peace be upon Hasan and Husain, leaders of the youth of paradise. Peace be on the Imams from the lineage of Husain, may Divine peace, mercy and blessings be on them. Peace be upon you, O righteous servant, O Misam ibn Yahya, At-Tammar, the one obedient to Allah, His messenger, the Commander of the Faithful, Fatimah, Hasan and Husain. I testify that you established the prayer, paid zakat, enjoined the good, forbade the evil, and strove for the sake of Allah as is due to Him. You worked according to His book, following the righteous and pursuing the Prophets. I testify that you were slain unjustly. May Allah curse those who oppressed and accused you and ordered your murder. May Allah curse those who prepared the grounds for animosity and hatred against you, till the Day of Judgement. May Allah fill their graves with fire and prepare for them a painful chastisement. O righteous servant! I have come to visit your grave, acknowledging your right, realising your virtues. So I ask Allah by your honorable status with Him, to bless Muhammad and the Family of Muhammad and to grant us our wishes in this world and the hereafter. Divine mercy and blessings upon you.

   سلام ہو آپ پر، اے رسولِ اللہؐ۔ سلام ہو آپ پر، اے امیرالمؤمنینؑ۔ سلام ہو آپ پر، اے فاطمہؑ زہراؑ جو تمام جہانوں کی عورتوں کی سردار ہیں۔ سلام ہو امام حسنؑ اور امام حسینؑ پر، جو اہلِ جنت کے جوانوں کے سردار ہیں۔ سلام ہو امام حسینؑ کی نسل سے تمام ائمہؑ پر اللہ کی رحمت اور برکتیں ہوں۔ سلام ہو آپ پر، اے نیک بندے! اے میثم بن یحییٰ تمّار جو اللہ، اُس کے رسولؐ، امیرالمؤمنینؑ، فاطمہؑ، حسنؑ اور حسینؑ کے فرمانبردار تھے۔ میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ آپ نے نماز قائم کی، زکوٰۃ ادا کی، نیکی کا حکم دیا، برائی سے روکا، اور اللہ کی راہ میں حق کے مطابق جہاد کیا۔ آپ نے اللہ کی کتاب کے مطابق عمل کیا نیک لوگوں کی پیروی کرتے ہوئے اور انبیاء کے طریقے پر چلتے ہوئے۔ اور میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ آپ کو مظلومانہ طور پر شہید کیا گیا۔ پس اللہ کی لعنت ہو اُس پر جس نے آپ پر ظلم کیا، اور جس نے آپ پر جھوٹ باندھا، اور جس نے آپ کے قتل کا حکم دیا۔ اور اللہ کی لعنت ہو اُن پر جو قیامت تک آپ کے لیے دشمنی اور بغض رکھتے رہیں۔ اللہ اُن کی قبروں کو آگ سے بھر دے اور اُن کے لیے دردناک عذاب تیار کرے۔ اے نیک بندے! میں آپ کے پاس آپ کی قبر کی زیارت کے لیے آیا ہوں، آپ کے حق کا اقرار کرتے ہوئے اور آپ کے فضل کو مانتے ہوئے۔ پس میں اللہ سے آپ کے اُس مقام کے واسطے (جو آپ کو اللہ کے نزدیک حاصل ہے) دعا کرتا ہوں کہ وہ محمدؐ اور آلِ محمدؑ پر درود بھیجے، اور ہماری دنیا و آخرت کی حاجتیں پوری فرمائے۔ اور اللہ کی رحمت اور برکتیں ہوں۔

4. اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔

   ALLAAHUMMA SALLI 'ALAA MUHAMMADIN WA-AALI MUHAMMAD.

   O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.

   اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آلؑ پر۔
