چہل کلید (۴۰؍چابیاں)
Chehel Kilid — the Forty Keys. Not one supplication but a collection of forty passages of the Qur’an, gathered to be read for particular needs, each treated as a key to what is asked for.
It opens with the first verse of Surat al-Fath, “Surely We have given you a clear victory”, and moves through verses of promise and of reassurance: the greeting of peace to those who enter the Garden, the verse naming the Messenger who grieves at the distress of his people, and the words of those of understanding who say “Our Lord, You did not create this in vain.”
Because it is Qur’an throughout, it carries the weight of what it quotes rather than of a narration about it.
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُّبِيْنًا
Innaa fatahnaa laka fatham mubeenaa.
Surely We have given to you a clear victory
بےشک ہم نے آپ کو کھلی ہوئی فتح عطا کی ہے۔
۔۔۔سَلٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ طِبْتُمْ فَادْخُلُوْهَا خٰلِدِيْنَ۔
...salaamun ’alaikum tibtum fadkhuloohaa khaalideen.
...Peace be on you, you shall be happy; therefore enter it to abide.
سلام ہو تم پر، بہت اچھے رہے، داخل ہو جاؤ اس میں ہمیشہ کے لیے
لَقَدْ جَاۗءَكُمْ رَسُوْلٌ مِّنْ اَنْفُسِكُمْ عَزِيْزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيْصٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ رَءُوْفٌ رَّحِيْمٌ
Laqad jaaa’akum rasoolum min anfusikum ’azeezun ’alaihi maa ’anittum hareesun ’alaikum bilmu’mineena ra’oofur raheem.
Certainly an Apostle has come to you from among yourselves; grievous to him is your falling into distress, excessively solicitous respecting you; to the believers (he is) compassionate, merciful.
یقینًا تمہارے پاس وہ پیغمبر آیا ہے جو تم ہی میں سے ہے اور اس پر تمہاری ہر مصیبت شاق ہوتی ہے وہ تمہاری ہدایت کے بارے میں حرص رکھتا ہے اور مومنین کے حال پر شفیق اور مہربان ہے۔
۔۔۔رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هٰذَا بَاطِلًا سُبْحٰنَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ۔
...rabbanaa maa khalaqta haaza baatilan subhaanaka faqinaa ’azaaban naar.
...Our Lord! Thou hast not created this in vain! Glory be to Thee; save us then from the chastisement of the fire.
۔۔۔ پروردگار! یہ سب کچھ تُو نے فضول اور بے مقصد نہیں بنایا ہے، تُو پاک ہے اس سے کہ عبث کا م کرے۔ پس اے رب! ہمیں دوزخ کے عذاب سے بچالے۔
وَتِلْكَ حُجَّتُنَآ اٰتَيْنٰهَآ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ عَلٰی قَوْمِهٖ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجٰتٍ مَّن نَّشَاۗءُ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيْمٌ عَلِيْمٌ
Wa tilka hujjatunaaa aatainaahaaa ibraaheema ’alaa qawmih; narfa’u darajaatim man nashaaa’; inna rabbaka hakeemun ’aleem.
And this was Our argument which we gave to Ibrahim against his people; We exalt in dignity whom We please; surely your Lord is Wise, Knowing.
یہ ہماری دلیل ہے جسے ہم نے ابراہیمؑ کو ان کی قوم کے مقابلہ میں عطا کی اور ہم جس کو چاہتے ہیں اس کے درجات کو بلند کردیتے ہیں ، بےشک تمہارا پروردگار صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے اور باخبر بھی ہے۔
وَقُلْ جَاۗءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ اِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوْقًا
Wa qul jaaa’al haqqu wa zahaqal baatil; innal baatila kaana zahooqaa.
And say: The truth has come and the falsehood has vanished; surely falsehood is a vanishing (thing).
اور کہہ دیجئے کہ حق آگیا اور باطل فنا ہوگیا کہ باطل بہرحال فنا ہونے والا ہے۔
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْاٰنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاۗءٌ وَّرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَلَا يَزِيْدُ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ اِلَّا خَسَارًا
Wa nunazzilu minal quraani maa huwa shifaaa’unw wa rahmatullil mu’mineena wa laa yazeeduz zaalimeena illaa khasaaraa.
And We reveal of the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers, and it adds only to the perdition of the unjust.
اور ہم قرآن میں وہ سب کچھ نازل کررہے ہیں جو صاحبانِ ایمان کے لئے شفا اور رحمت ہے اور ظالمین کے لئے خسارہ میں اضافہ کے علاوہ کچھ نہ ہوگا۔
قُلْنَا يٰنَارُ كُوْنِيْ بَرْدًا وَّسَلٰمًا عَلٰٓى اِبْرٰهِيْمَ
Qulnaa yaa naaru koonee bardanw wa salaaman ’alaaa ibraaheem.
We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim;
تو ہم نے بھی حکم دیا کہ اے آگ ابراہیمؑ کے لئے سرد ہوجا اور سلامتی کاسامان بن جا۔
وَاَرَادُوْا بِهٖ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنٰهُمُ الْاَخْسَرِيْنَ
Wa araadoo bihee kaidan faja’alnaahumul akhsareen.
And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers.
اور ان لوگوں نے ایک مکر کا ارادہ کیا تھا تو ہم نے بھی انہیں خسارہ والا اور ناکام قرار دے دیا۔
۔۔۔فَنَادٰى فِي الظُّلُمٰتِ اَن لَّآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّآ اَنْتَ سُبْحٰنَكَ اِنِّيْ كُنْتُ مِنَ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ۔
...
Fanaada fiz zulumaate al laa ilaaha illaa anta subhaanaka inni kunto minaz zaalimeen.
…So he called out among afflictions: There is no god but Thou, glory be to Thee; surely I am of those who make themselves to suffer loss.
۔۔۔آخر کو اُس نے تاریکیوں میں سے پکارا۔ نہیں ہے کوئی خدا مگر تُو، پاک ہے تیری ذات، بے شک میں نے قُصور کیا۔
۔۔۔وَلَا تُمْسِكُوْا بِعِصَمِ الْكَوَافِرِ۔۔۔
...wa laa tumsikoo bi ’isamil kawaafir...
…And let them ask for what they have spent from the unbelivers…
۔۔۔اور تم خود بھی کافر عورتوں کو اپنے نکاح میں روکے نہ رہو۔۔۔
وَاُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سٰجِدِيْنَ
Wa ulqiyas saharatu saajideen.
And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves).
اور جادوگر سب کے سب سجدہ میں گر پڑے۔
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَّتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللهِ اَنْدَادًا يُّحِبُّوْنَهُمْ كَحُبِّ اللهِ وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْٓا اَشَدُّ حُبًّا لِّلهِ۔۔۔
Wa minan naasi mai yattakhizu min doonil laahi andaadai yuhibboonahum kahubbil laahi wallazeena aamanooo ashaddu hubbal lillah…
And there are some among men who take for themselves objects of worship besides Allah, whom they love as they love Allah, and those who believe are stronger in love for Allah…
(مگر وحدتِ خدا وندی پر دلالت کرنے والے ان کھلے کھلے آثار کے ہوتے ہوئے بھی ) کچھ لوگ ایسے ہیں جو اللہ کے سوا دوسروں کو اس کا ہمسر اور مد مقابل بناتے ہیں 1اور ان کے ایسے گرویدہ ہیں جیسی اللہ کے ساتھ گرویدگی ہونی چاہیے۔ حالانکہ ایمان رکھنے والے لوگ سب سے بڑھ کر اللہ کو محبوب رکھتے ہیں۔۔۔
بَیَّنَاهَا بَیْنَ آدَمَ وَحَوَّا وَبَیْنَ یُوْسُفَ وَزُلَیْخَا وَفَاطِمِۃَ الزَّهْرَاءِ وَعَلِیُّ الْمُرْتَضٰی۔ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ مُصْطَفٰی صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَبِحَقِّ جَبْرَئِیْلَ وَمِیْکَائِیْلَ وَاِسْرَافِیْلَ وَعِزْرَائِیْلَ۔ یَا حَنَّانُ یَا مَنَّانُ یَا دَیَّانُ یَا بُرْهَانُ یَا رِضْوَانُ یَا سُلْطَانُ یَا غُفْرَانُ۔
Baiyya-naa-haa baiyna aadama wa hawwaa, wa baiyna yoosu-fa wa zulai-khaa, wa faatema-taz zahraa-e wa aliyyul murtazaa.
Be-haqqe mohammdin mustafaa sallal laaho a’laiy-he wa sallama, wa be-haqqe jabraeel wa mikaa-eela wa israa-feela wa i’zraa-eela.
Yaa han-naano yaa man-naano yaa daiy-yaano yaa bur-haano yaa riz-waano yaa sul-taano yaa ghuf-raano.
We made it clear (manifest) between Adam and Eve, and between Joseph and Zulaykha, and (between) Fatema az-Zahra and Ali al-Murtaza. By the right (for the sake) of Muhammad al-Mustafa, peace and blessings be upon him, and by the right of Jibraeel (Gabriel), Meekaail (Michael), Israafil, and Izraeel (Azrael). O Most Compassionate (Hannan), O Most Generous (Mannan), O Judge (Dayyan), O Proof (Manifest) Truth (Burhaan), O Rizwaan, O Sovereign (Sultaan), O Forgiveness (Ghufraan).
ہم نے اسے آدمؑ و حواؑ کے درمیان، اور یوسفؑ و زلیخا کے درمیان، اور فاطمہ زہراؑ اور علی مرتضیٰؑ کے درمیان ظاہر )واضح( کر دیا۔محمد مصطفیٰؐ کے صدقے، اور جبرائیلؑ، میکائیلؑ، اسرافیلؑ اور عزرائیلؑ کے صدقے۔اے بہت شفقت کرنے والے! اے بہت عطا کرنے والے! اے بدلہ دینے والے )انصاف( کرنے والے! اے حق کی دلیل! اے رضوان! اے بادشاہِ حقیقی! اے بخشش والے!
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اِذَا جَاۗءَ نَصْرُ اللهِ وَالْفَتْحُ
Iza jaaa’a nasrul-laahi walfath.
When there comes the help of Allah and the victory
جب خدا کی مدد اور فتح کی منزل آجائے گی۔
وَرَاَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُوْنَ فِيْ دِيْنِ اللهِ اَفْوَاجًا
Wa ra-aitan naasa yadkhuloona fee deenil laahi afwajaa.
And you see men entering the religion of Allah in companies
اور آپ دیکھیں گے کہ لوگ دینِ خدا میں فوج در فوج داخل ہو رہے ہیں۔
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ تَوَّابًا
Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wastaghfirh, innahoo kaana tawwaaba.
Then celebrate the praise of your Lord, and ask His forgiveness; surely He is oft-returning (to mercy).
تو اپنے رب کی حمد کی تسبیح کریں اور اس سے استغفار کریں کہ وہ بہت زیادہ توبہ قبول کرنے والا ہے۔
۔۔۔نَصْرٌ مِّنَ اللهِ وَفَتْحٌ قَرِيْبٌ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ۔
...nasrum minal laahi wa fat hun qareeb; wa bashshiril mu ’mineen.
…Help from Allah and a victory near at hand; and give good news to the believers.
۔۔۔اللہ کی طرف سے نُصرت اور قریب ہی میں حاصل ہو جانے والی فتح۔ اے نبیؐ ، اہل ایمان کو اِس کی بشارت دے دو۔
يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا۔۔۔
Yaa ayyuhal lazeena aamanoo…
O you who believe! be not forward…
اے لوگو جو ایمان لائے ہو۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ اَحَدٌ
Qul huwal laahu ahad.
Say: He, Allah, is One.
اے رسول کہہ دیجئے کہ وہ اللہ ایک ہے۔
اَللهُ الصَّمَدُ
Allah hus-samad.
Allah is He on Whom all depend.
اللہ برحق اور بے نیاز ہے۔
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُوْلَدْ
Lam yalid wa lam yoolad.
He begets not, nor is He begotten.
اس کی نہ کوئی اولاد ہے اور نہ والد۔
وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهٗ كُفُوًا اَحَدٌ
Wa lam yakul-lahoo kufuwan ahad.
And none is like Him.
اور نہ اس کا کوئی کفو اور ہم سر ہے۔
۔۔۔لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهٖ شَيْءٌ وَّهُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْبَصِيْرُ
...laisa kamislihee shai’unw wa huwas samee’ul baseer.
…Nothing like a likeness of Him; and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
۔۔۔کائنات کی کوئی چیز اس کے مشابہ نہیں، وہ سب کچھ سُننے اور دیکھنے والا ہے۔
قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ
Qul a’oozu bi rabbil-falaq.
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn
کہہ دیجئے کہ میں صبح کے مالک کی پناہ چاہتا ہوں۔
مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Min sharri maa khalaq.
From the evil of what He has created
تمام مخلوقات کے شر سے۔
وَمِنْ شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ اِذَا وَقَبَ
Wa min sharri ghaasiqin izaa waqab.
And from the evil of the utterly dark night when it comes
اور اندھیری رات کے شر سے جب اس کا اندھیرا چھا جائے۔
قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ
Qul a’oozu birabbin naas.
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of men
اے رسول! کہہ دیجئے کہ میں انسانوں کے پروردگار کی پناہ چاہتا ہوں۔
مَلِكِ النَّاسِ
Malikin naas.
The King of men
جو تمام لوگوں کا مالک اور بادشاہ ہے۔
اِلٰهِ النَّاسِ
Ilaahin naas.
The God of men
سارے انسانوں کا معبود ہے۔
۔۔۔قُلْ كَفٰى بِاللهِ شَهِيْدًۢا بَيْنِيْ وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَمَنْ عِنْدَهٗ عِلْمُ الْكِتٰبِ۔
...qul kafaa billaahi shaheedam bainee wa bainakum wa man ’indahoo ’ilmul kitaab.
...Say: Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you and whoever has knowledge of the Book.
۔۔۔کہو میرے اور تمہارے درمیان اللہ کی گواہی کافی ہے۔۔۔
وَقُلْ جَاۗءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ اِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوْقًا
Wa qul jaaa’al haqqu wa zahaqal baatil; innal baatila kaana zahooqaa.
And say: The truth has come and the falsehood has vanished; surely falsehood is a vanishing (thing).
اور کہہ دیجئے کہ حق آگیا اور باطل فنا ہوگیا کہ باطل بہرحال فنا ہونے والا ہے۔
قُلْ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَنَا رَبُّنَا ثُمَّ يَفْتَحُ بَيْنَنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَهُوَ الْفَتَّاحُ الْعَلِيْمُ
Qul yajma’u bainanaa rabbunaa summa yaftahu bainanaa bilhaqq; wa huwal fattaahul ’aleem.
Say: Our Lord will gather us together, then will He judge between us with the truth; and He is the greatest Judge, the All-knowing.
کہئے کہ ایک دن خدا ہم سب کو جمع کرے گا اور پھر ہمارے درمیان حق کے ساتھ فیصلہ کرے گا اور وہ بہترین فیصلہ کرنے والا ہے اور جاننے والا ہے۔
قُلْ اِنَّمَا الْعِلْمُ عِنْدَ اللهِ وَاِنَّمَآ اَنَا۟ نَذِيْرٌ مُّبِيْنٌ
Qul innamal ’ilmu ’indallaahi wa innamaaa ana nazeerum mubeen.
Say: The knowledge (thereof is only with Allah and I am only a plain warner.
آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ علم اللہ کے پاس ہے اور میں تو صرف واضح طور پر ڈرانے والا ہوں۔
قُلْ اَرَئَيْتُمْ اِنْ اَصْبَحَ مَاۗؤُكُمْ غَوْرًا فَمَنْ يَّاْتِيْكُمْ بِمَاۗءٍ مَّعِيْنٍ
Qul ara’aytum in asbaha maaa’ukum ghawran famai ya’teekum bimaaa’im ma’een.
Say: Have you considered if your water should go down, who is it then that will bring you flowing water?
کہہ دیجئے کہ تمہارا کیا خیال ہے اگر تمہارا سارا پانی زمین کے اندر جذب ہو جائے تو تمہارے لئے چشمہ کا پانی بہا کر کون لائے گا۔
قُلْنَا يٰنَارُ كُوْنِيْ بَرْدًا وَّسَلٰمًا عَلٰٓى اِبْرٰهِيْمَ
Qulnaa yaa naaru koonee bardanw wa salaaman ’alaaa ibraaheem.
We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim;
تو ہم نے بھی حکم دیا کہ اے آگ ابراہیمؑ کے لئے سرد ہوجا اور سلامتی کاسامان بن جا۔
قُلْ يٰٓاَيُّهَا الْكٰفِرُوْنَ
Qul yaaa-ayyuhal kaafiroon.
Say: O unbelievers!
آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ اے کافرو۔
لَآ اَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُوْنَ
Laaa a’budu maa t’abudoon.
I do not serve that which you serve
میں ان خداؤں کی عبادت نہیں کر سکتا جن کی تم پوجا کرتے ہو۔
۔۔۔فَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُوْنُوْا قِرَدَةً خٰسِئِيْنَ۔
...faqulnaa lahum koonoo qiradatan khaasi’een.
...so We said to them: Be (as) apes, despised and hated.
۔۔۔تو ہم نے حکم دے دیا کہ اب ذلت کے ساتھ بندر بن جائے۔
قُلْ سِيْرُوْا فِي الْاَرْضِ ثُمَّ انْظُرُوْا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ
Qul seeroo fil ardi summan zuroo kaifa kaana ’aaqibatul mukazzibeen.
Say: Travel in the land, then see what was the end of the rejecters.
آپ ان سے کہہ دیجئے کہ زمین میں سیر کریں پھر اس کے بعد دیکھیں کہ جھٹلانے والوں کا انجام کیا ہوتا ہے۔
قُلْ مَنْ يَّكْلَؤُكُمْ بِالَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ مِنَ الرَّحْمٰنِ۔۔۔
Qul mai yakla ’ukum billaili wannahaari minar rahmaan…
Say: Who guards you by night and by day from the Beneficent God…
آپ ان سے کہہ دیجیے کہ انہیں رات یا دن میں کون بچاتا لے۔۔۔
قُلْ هَلْ نُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِالْاَخْسَرِيْنَ اَعْمَالًا
Qul hal nunabbi’ukum bilakhsareena a’maalaa.
Say: Shall We inform you of the greatest losers in (their) deeds?
پیغمبر کیا ہم آپ کو ان لوگوں کے بارے میں اطلاع دیں جو اپنے اعمال میں بدترین خسارہ میں ہیں۔
قُلْ اِنَّمَآ اَنَا۟ بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُوْحٰٓى اِلَيَّ اَنَّمَآ اِلٰهُكُمْ اِلٰهٌ وَّاحِدٌ۔۔۔
Qul innamaaa ana basharum mislukum yoohaaa ilaiya annamaa ilaahukum ilaahunw waahid…
Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your god is one God…
اے محمدؐ، کہو کہ میں تو ایک انسان ہوں تم ہی جیسا، میری طرف وحی کی جاتی ہے کہ تمہارا خدا بس ایک ہی خدا ہے۔۔۔
سُبْحٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُوْنَ
Subhaana rabbika rabbil ’izzati ’amma yasifoon.
Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, above what they describe.
آپ کا پروردگار جو مالکِ عزّت بھی ہے ان کے بیانات سے پاک و پاکیزہ ہے۔
وَسَلٰمٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ
Wa salaamun ’alalmursaleen.
And peace be on the apostles.
اور ہمارا سلام تمام مرسلین پر ہے۔
وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ
Walhamdu lillaahi rabbil ’aalameen.
And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
اور ساری تعریف اس اللہ کے لئے ہے جو عالمین کا پروردگار ہے۔
صَلَوَاتُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلٰی سَیِّدِنَا نَبِیِّنَا اَبُوالْقَاسِمِ الْمُحَمَدٍ۔
Salawaato was-salaamo a’laa sayyede-naa naiyye-naa abul qaasemil mohammadin.
Blessing and salutation on the leader of prophets, Mohammad father of Qasim.
درود و سلام ہو آپ پر اے نبیوں کے سردار ابول قاسمِ محمدؐ۔
یَا اللهُ، یَا اللهُ، یَا اللهُ، یَا اللهُ، یَا اللهُ، یَا اللهُ، یَا اللهُ۔
Yaa allaaho, yaa allaaho, yaa allaaho, yaa allaaho, yaa allaaho, yaa allaaho, yaa allaaho.
O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah.
اے اللہ، اے اللہ، اے اللہ، اے اللہ، اے اللہ، اے اللہ، اے اللہ۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
