Dua for Longevity
لمبی عمر کی دعا
Sayyid Ibn Tawus, through a valid chain of authority, has reported the following incident from Jamil ibn Darraj: A man visited Imam Sadiq (a) and said, “My master, I have become old aged, my relatives have all died, and I fear lest death will come upon me while I have no one to entertain me and to whom I may refer.” The Imam (a) answered, “Some of your brothers-in-faith are closer to you than relatives and you can find with them entertainment more pleasant that which you may find with your relatives. However, if you wish that you and your relatives will live longer, you must say the following supplicatory prayer after each ritual prayer…
سيدا بن طاووسؒ نے معتبر سند کے ساتھ جميل بن دراج سے روايت کی ہے کہ ايک شخص امام جعفر صادقؑ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور عرض کيا: مولا! ميری عمر زياده ہوگئی ہے ميرے رشتہ دار مر چکے ہيں کوئی مونس اور ہمدم نہيں ملتا مجھے ڈرہے کہ میں خود بھی مر جائوں گا حضرت نے فرمايا: اپنے رشتہ داروں کی نسبت صالح مومن بھائی اُنس کے لئے بہتر ہيں اگر تم اپنی اور عزيز و اقارب اور دوستوں کی لمبی عمر چاہتے ہو تو ہر نماز کے بعد اس دُعا کو پڑھا کرو۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّ رَسُوْلَكَ الصَّادِقَ الْمُصَدَّقَ صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهٖ قَالَ اِنَّكَ قُلْتَ مَا تَرَدَّدْتُ فِىْ شَىْءٍ اَنَا فَاعِلُهٗ كَتَرَدُّدِىْ فِىْ قَبْضِ رُوْحِ عَبْدِىَ الْمُؤْمِنِ يَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ وَاَكْرَهُ مَسَاۗئَتَهٗ۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَجِّلْ لِوَلِيِّكَ الْفَرَجَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ وَالنَّصْرَ وَلَا تَسُؤْنِىْ فِىْ نَفْسِىْ وَلَا فِىْ اَحَدٍ مِّنْ اَحِبَّتِىْ۔
Allaahumma salle ‘alaa mohammadiw wa aale mohammad.
Allaahumma inna rasoola-kas saade-qal mo-sadde-qa salawaa-toka ‘alaiyhe wa aale-hi qaala inna-ka qulta maa tarad-dadto fee shai-in anaa faa’elo-hu kata-raddo-dee fee qabze roohe ‘abde-yal momene yakra-hul mauta wa ak-raho masaa-a-tahu.
Allaahumma fa-salle ‘alaa mohammadiw wa aale mohammad wa ‘ajjil le-waliye-kal faraja wal ‘aafe-yata wan nasra wa laa tasoo-nee fee nafsee wa laa fee ahadin min a-hibba-tee.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. O Allah, indeed Your Messenger the truthful and confirmed one may Your blessings be upon him and his family said that You have said: “I do not hesitate about anything that I am going to do as I hesitate about taking the soul of My believing servant: he dislikes death, and I dislike causing him distress.” O Allah, so send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and hasten relief, well-being, and victory for Your Wali (Your chosen guardian). And do not make me grieve concerning myself, nor concerning any of my loved ones.
اے معبود رحمت فرما محمدؐ وآل محمدؑ پر، اے معبودبے شک تيرے سچے اور سچا قرار ديئے ہوئے رسول تيری رحمتيں ہوں ان پر اور ان کی آلؑ پر نے فرمايا کہ يقيناً تو نے ارشاد کيا کہ میں جو کچھ کرنا چاہوں اس میں کوئی تردد نہيں ہوتا مگر اس وقت جب میں کسی ايسے مومن کی روح قبض کرنے لگوں جو موت کو پسند نہ کرے اور میں اس کی ناراضگی کو پسند نہيں کرتا اور اے معبود درود بھيج محمدؐ و آل محمدؑ پر اور اپنے آخری ولی کی کشائش میں جلدی کر انہيں محفوظ رکھ کاميابی عطا فرما اور مجھے اپنے اور اپنے دوستوں کے بارے میں کسی برائی سے دوچار نہ کرنا۔
If you wish, you may mention the persons you love by names.” The old man thereafter said, “By Allah I take the oath, I lived for such a long time until I became bored of life.” This ultimately considerable supplicatory prayer is mentioned in all books of supplications.
اگر چاہو تو اپنے ايک ايک دوست کا نام لو اور کہو :نہ فلاں کے بارے میں نہ فلاں کے بارے میں برائی سے دو چار نہ کرنا، راوی کہتا ہے کہ جب میں نے يہ دُعا پابندی کے ساتھ پڑھنا شروع کی تو مجھے اس قدر زندگی نصيب ہوئی کہ میں اس سے اکتا گيا۔ يہ دُعا نہايت ہی معتبر ہے اور دعائوں کی تمام کتابوں میں منقول ہے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allahumma swalle alaa muhammadiw wa aale muhammadin
Allah’s (s.w.t) choicest blessings be upon Mohammed and his holy progeny.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔
