رایان لکھتے ہے: میں نے علی ابن موسی الرضاؑ کو ایک دعا پڑھتے ہوے سنا تو میں نے اس کو حفظ کر لیا۔ اور جب کبھی میں تکلیف میں اس دعا کو پڑھتا، تو اللہ تعالی مجھے رحات عطا فرماتا، اور وہ دعا یہ ہے۔۔۔

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

اَللّٰهُمَّ اَنْتَ ثِقَتِيْ فِيْ كُلِّ كَرْبٍ وَاَنْتَ رَجَآئِيْ فِيْ كُلِّ شدَّةٍ وَاَنْتَ لِيْ فِيْ كُلِّ اَمْرٍ نَزَلَ بِيْ ثِقَةٌ وَعُدَّةٌ كَمْ مِنْ كَرْبٍ يَضْعَفُ عَنْهُ الْفُؤَادُ وَتَقِلُّ فِيْهِ الْـحِيْلَةُ وَتَعْيِيْ فِيْهِ الْاُمُوْرُ وَيَـخْذُلُ فِيْهِ الْبَعِيْدُ وَالْقَرِيْبُ وَالصِّدِّيقُ وَيَشْمُتُ فِيْهِ الْعَدُوُّ اَنْزَلْتُهٗ بِكَ وَشَكَوْتُهٗ اِلَيْكَ رَاغِبًا اِلَيْكَ فِيْهِ عَـمَّنْ سِوَاكَ فَفَرَّجْتَهٗ وَكَشَفْتَهٗ وَكَفَيْتَنِيْهِ فَاَنْتَ وَلِيُّ كُلِّ نِعْمَةٍ وَصَاحِبُ كُلِّ حَاجَةٍ وَمُنْتَهٰى كُلِّ رَغْبَةٍ فَلَكَ الْـحَمْدُ كَثِيْرًا وَلَكَ الْمَنُّ فَاضِلًا بِنِعْمَتِكَ تَتِمُّ الصَّالِـحَاتِ يَا مَعْرُوْفًا بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ مَعْرُوْفٌ وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ مَوْصُوْفٌ اَنِلْنِيْ مِنْ مَعْرُوْفِكَ مَعْرُوْفًا تُغْنِيْنِيْ بِهٖ عَنْ مَعْرُوْفِ مَنْ سِوَاكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ۔

Allaahumma anta seqatee fee kulle karbin wa anta rajaaa-ee fee kulle shiddatin wa anta lee feekulle amrin nazala bee seqatun wa u’ddatun kam min karbin yaz-a’fo a’nhul fo-waado wa taqillo feehil heelato wa ta’yee feehil omooro wa yakhzolo feehil ba-e’edo wal qareebo was siddeeqo wa yashmoto feehil a’duwwo anzaltohu beka wa shakawtohu elayka raagheban elayka feehe a’mman sewaaka fafarrajtahu wa kashaftahu wa kafaytaneehe fa-anta waliyyo kulle ne’matin wa saahebo kulle haajatin wa muntahaa kulle raghbatin falakal hamdo kaseeran wa lakal manno faazelan be-ne’mateka tatimmus saalehaate yaa ma’roofan bil-ma’roofe ma’roofun wa yaa man howa bilma’roofe mawsoofun anilnee min ma’roofeka ma’roofan tughneenee behi a’n ma’roofe man sewaaka be rahmateka yaa arhamar raahemeen.

O Allah! You are my Trust in every distress, and You are my Hope in every hardship; and in all that befalls me, You are my Trust and my Shelter; How much of grief that weakens the heart, and has but little way of escape, and when the affairs lack any remedy, when the distant ones and the near ones, and the friends let me down, and the enemies taunt, I came unto You and complained to You, inclined to You beside all others, and You dispelled the grief and relieved the affliction, and became Sufficient for me, So You are the Provider of all bounties, and the Source for all needs, and the Final Refuge for every desire. So, for You is abundant praise, and to You belongs the plentiful favour. With Your blessings, all righteousness is fulfilled. O One Who is known for His Grace, and the One praised for His Grace, bless me with the Grace which would enable me to dispense with kindness from others, I beseech Your mercy, O the most Merciful of the mercifuls.

اے اللہ! تو ہر غم میں میرا سہارا ہے، اور ہر سختی میں میری امید ہے۔ اور جو بھی معاملہ مجھ پر آ پڑے، اس میں تو ہی میرا بھروسہ بھی ہے اور میرا سامانِ مدد بھی۔ کتنی ہی ایسی گھڑیاں آتی ہیں جن میں دل کمزور پڑ جاتا ہے، تدبیر کم رہ جاتی ہے، معاملات الجھ جاتے ہیں، اور قریب و دور، دوست بھی ساتھ چھوڑ دیتے ہیں، اور دشمن خوش ہوتا ہے۔ ایسے وقت میں میں اس مصیبت کو تیرے سامنے رکھتا ہوں اور تجھ ہی سے فریاد کرتا ہوں، تیرے سوا کسی سے امید نہیں رکھتا۔ پھر تو ہی اسے دور کر دیتا ہے، اسے ہٹا دیتا ہے، اور مجھے کافی ہو جاتا ہے۔ پس تو ہر نعمت کا مالک ہے، ہر ضرورت کا پورا کرنے والا ہے، اور ہر امید کی آخری منزل تو ہی ہے۔ لہٰذا تیرے لیے بہت زیادہ حمد ہے، اور تیرا احسان بہت بڑا ہے۔ تیری ہی نعمت سے نیک کام مکمل ہوتے ہیں۔ اے وہ ذات جو بھلائی کے ساتھ پہچانی جاتی ہے، اور اے وہ ذات جو بھلائی ہی کے وصف سے موصوف ہے! مجھے اپنی بھلائی میں سے ایسی بھلائی عطا فرما کہ اس کے ذریعے مجھے تیرے سوا کسی کی بھلائی کی حاجت نہ رہے اپنی رحمت سے، اے سب سے بڑھ کر رحم کرنے والے۔

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔

Allahumma swalle alaa muhammadiw wa aale muhammadin

Allah’s (s.w.t) choicest blessings be upon Mohammed and his holy progeny.

اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔
