Namaz in Ramazan

ماہ رمضان کی نمازیں

1. PLEASE NOTE: Be it clear that the reason for presenting Translation is to understand Salaat and to recite in Arabic with concentration because reciting Salaat other than Arabic language (or Transliteration) is not correct.

2. Mohammad Ibn Suleman narrates that when we asked Imam Reza (a) about the manner of desirable prayers performed by the Holy Prophet (s), he (a) said: “On the first of the month of Ramazan the Holy Prophet (s) performed Maghrib prayer then performed 4 rakats of supererogatory prayers of Maghrib then he (s) performed 8 rakats other prayers, and thereafter after performing Isha prayer he performed 2 rakats of supererogatory of Isha in sitting position. Then after getting up he (s) performed 12 rakats of other supererogatory prayer and then entered his house. When some people asked the holy prophet (s) the reason of performance of these prayers, he (s) said…

   محمد ابن سلمان روایت کرتے ہے کہ جب ہم لوگوں نے امام رضاؑ سے پوچھا، کہ کس طرح سے رسولِ خداؐ مستحب نمازوں کو انجام دیا کرتے تھے؟ امامؑ نے فرمایا: ماہِ رمضان کی پہلی شب میں رسولِ خداؐ مغرب کی نماز کے بعد ۴ رکعت نوافل مغرب اور اُس کے بعد ۸ رکعت نماز پڑھتے تھے، اور پھر نمازِ عشاء کے بعد ۲ رکعت نوافل عشاء بیٹھ کر انجام دیتے تھے۔ پھر کھڑے ہو کر دیگر ۱۲ رکعت نماز انجام دیتے تھے اور اُس کے بعد اپنے گھر میں داخل ہوتے تھے۔ جب کچھ لوگوں نے رسولِ خداؐ سے ان نمازوں کو انجام دینے کی وجہ پوچھی تو آن حضرتؐ نے فرمایا۔۔۔

3. اَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اِنَّ هٰذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ نَافِلَةٌ وَلَنْ نَـجْتَمِعَ لِلنَّافِلَةِ فَلْيُصَلِّ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنْكُمْ وَحْدَهٗ وَلْيَقُلْ مَا عَلَّمَهُ اللهُ مِنْ كِتَابِهٖ۔ وَاعْلَمُوْا اَنَّهٗ لَا جَمَاعَةَ فِيْ نَافِلَةٍ۔

   “I performed these prayers due to superiority by the month of Ramazan over other months”۔ Next day when some people tried to perform those supererogatory prayer in congregation, the Holy Prophet (s) said: “There is no congregation for supererogatory.

   میں اِن نمازوں کو انجام اس لئے دیتا ہوں، کیونکہ ماہِ رمضان کی فضیلت دیگر ماہ سے افضل ہے۔ دوسرے دن جب کچھ لوگوں نے اِن نمازوں کو باجماعت پڑھنے کی کوشش کی، تو رسولِ خداؐ نے فرمایا: مستحب نمازیں جماعت سے نہیں ہو سکتی۔

4. On the night of 19th of the month of Ramazan he (s) took bath at sunset and performed Maghrib prayer and then performed the usual 4 rakats of supererogatory of Maghrib and departed to this house. He (s) came out of his house and performed Isha prayer and 2 rakats of supererogatory of Isha in sitting position. Then he stood up and performed one 100 rakats in which he (s) recited Surah Ikhlaas 10 times after reciting Surah Fateha once in each rakat. In the end he (s) performed midnight prayer then Namaz of Shaf’ and Watr.

   ۱۹؍ماہِ رمضان کی شب میں آن حضرتؐ نے غروبِ آفتاب کے وقت غسل کر کے نمازِ مغرب کو انجام دیا اور پھر ۴ رکعت نوافل مغرب پڑھی اور اپنے گھر گئے۔ آن حضرتؐ اپنے گھر سے دوبارا نکلے اور نمازِ عشاء کے بعد ۲ رکعت نوافل عشاء بیٹھ کر انجام دی۔ پھر وہ کھڑے ہو کر ۱۰۰ رکعت نماز دو دو کر کے ، کہ جس کی ہر رکعت میں سورۂ فاتحہ کے بعد ۱۰ مرتبہ سورۂ اخلاص کو پڑھا۔ آخر میں آن حضرتؐ نے نوافل شب، پھر نماز شفا اور وتر کو انجام دیا۔

5. On the 20th day of the month of Ramazan he (s) performed the prayers like other nights.

   ۲۰؍ ماہِ رمضان کو آن حضرتؐ نے دیگر شبوں کی طرح نماز کو انجام دیا۔

6. On the night of 21st he (s) took bath at the time of sunset and performed all the prayers as he had done on the night of 19th of Ramazan.

   ۲۱؍ ماہِ رمضان کی شب میں غروبِ آفتاب کے وقت غسل کیا اور تمام نمازوں کو ۱۹؍ماہِ رمضان کی شب کی طرح انجام دیا۔

7. On the night of 22nd of the month of Ramazan he (s) performed 20 rakats of supererogatory as he (s) used to perform on other nights including 8 rakats of Maghrib and 12 rakats after Isha prayers.

   ۲۲؍ماہِ رمضان کی شب میں ۲۰ رکعت نماز انجام دیتے تھے جس میں ۸رکعت نمازِ مغرب کے بعد اور ۱۲ رکعت نمازِ عشاء کے بعد۔

8. On the night of 23rd he (s) took bath and performed all the prayers as he had performed on the night of 19th of the month of Ramazan.

   ۲۳؍ ماہِ رمضان کی شب میں غروبِ آفتاب کے وقت غسل کیا اور تمام نمازوں کو ۱۹؍ماہِ رمضان کی شب کی طرح انجام دیا۔

9. When somebody asked Imam Reza (a) as how to perform all the 51 rakats of daily obligatory prayers and Supererogatory in the month of Ramazan, he (a) said; The Holy Prophet (s) used to perform all these prayers of 51 rakats as he used to perform in other months excluding the month of Ramazan.

   جب کسی نے امام رضاؑ سے معلوم کیا کہ کیسے واجب نماز کی تمام ۵۱ رکعت اور ماہِ رمضان کی دیگر نمازوں کو پڑھی جایں؟ امامؑ نے فرمایا: رسولِ خداؐ یہ ۵۱ رکعت نماز کو ہر مہینے انجام دیتے تھے سوائے ماہِ رمضان کے۔
