Surah Fateha (1, 7 ayat)سورۂ فاتحہ

Spoken throughout in the voice of the worshipper. It opens with praise of Allah as Lord of the Worlds, the Beneficent, the Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment, then turns to direct address: Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help. It closes asking to be kept on the right path, that of those favoured, not those who incur wrath or go astray.

Opening (Makki)

This surah was revealed in both Makkah and Madina. In the commentary of Majma’ul Bayan it is narrated that the Holy Prophet (s) said that whoever recites this Surah, he will get the reward for reciting 2/3 of the whole Qur’an, and will get the reward equivalent to what would be gained by giving charity to all the believing men and women in the world. Surah Fateha is a cure for physical and also spiritual ailments. Without this Surah, even the daily prayers are incomplete. It is indeed a great treasure that has been given to us by Allah (s) through the Holy Prophet (s) and no previous prophet has been given anything like it. This Surah is also known as ‘Ummul Kitaab’ (means Mother of Book) and ‘Sab’a Mathani’ (means containing 7 verses).

رسول خداؐ نے فرمایا: جس مسلمان نے اس سورہ کی تلاوت کی گویا اس نے دوسوم قرآن کی تلاوت کی اور اسے تمام مؤمنین اور مؤمنات کو صدقہ دینے کاثواب ملے گا۔ ) مجمع البیان ج ۱ ص ۴۸ (

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ

Al-hamdu lillaahi rabbi al-'aalameen

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

ساری تعریف اللہ کے لئے ہے جو عالمین کا پالنے والا ہے۔

اَلرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

Ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

The Beneficent, the Merciful.

وہ عظیم اور دائمی رحمتوں والا ہے۔

مٰلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّيْنِ

Maaliki yawmi ad-deen

Master of the Day of Judgment.

روزِ قیامت کا مالک و مختار ہے۔

اِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَاِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِيْنُ۔

Iyyaaka na'budu wa-iyyaaka nasta'een.

Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help.

پروردگار! ہم تیری ہی عبادت کرتے ہیں اور تجھی سے مدد چاہتے ہیں۔

اِهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيْمَ

Ihdinaa as-siraata al-mustaqeem

Keep us on the right path.

ہمیں سیدھے راستہ کی ہدایت فرماتا رہ۔

صِرَاطَ الَّذِيْنَ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوْبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّآلِّيْنَ

Siraata allazeena an'amta 'alayhim ghayri al-maghdoobi 'alayhim walaa ad-daalleen

The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray.

جو اُن لوگوں کا راستہ ہے جن پر تو نے نعمتیں نازل کی ہیں ان کا راستہ نہیں جن پر غضب نازل ہوا ہے یا جو بہکے ہوئے ہیں۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem.

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
