Juz 10 (Sipara)جز (سیپارہ)-۱۰

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

And know that whatever thing you gain, a fifth of it is for Allah and for the Apostle and for the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, if you believe in Allah and in that which We revealed to Our servant, on the day of distinction, the day on which the two parties met; and Allah has power over all things.

اور یہ جان لو کہ تمہیں جس چیز سے بھی فائدہ حاصل ہو اس کا پانچواں حصّہ اللہ، رسول، رسول کے قرابتدار، ایتام، مساکین اور مسافرانِ غربت زدہ کے لئے ہے اگر تمہارا ایمان اللہ پر ہے اور اس نصرت پر ہے جو ہم نے اپنے بندے پر حق و باطل کے فیصلہ کے دن جب دو جماعتیں آپس میں ٹکرا رہی تھیں نازل کی تھی اور اللہ ہر شے پر قادر ہے۔

When you were on the nearer side (of the valley) and they were on the farthest side, while the caravan was in a lower place than you; and if you had mutually made an appointment, you would certainly have broken away from the appointment, but in order that Allah might bring about a matter which was to be done, that he who would perish might perish by clear proof, and he who would live might live by clear proof; and most surely Allah is Hearing, Knowing;

جب کہ تم وادی کے قریبی محاذ پر تھے اور وہ لوگ دور والے محاذ پر تھے اور قافلہ تم سے نشیب میں تھا اور اگر تم پہلے سے جہاد کے وعدہ پر نکلتے تو یقینًا اس کے خلاف کرتے لیکن خدا ہونے والے امر کا فیصلہ کرنا چاہتا تھا تاکہ جو ہلاک ہو وہ دلیل کے ساتھ اور جو زندہ رہے وہ بھی دلیل کے ساتھ اور اللہ سب کی سننے والا اور سب کے حالِ دل کا جاننے والا ہے۔

When Allah showed them to you in your dream as few; and if He had shown them to you as many you would certainly have become weak-hearted and you would have disputed about the matter, but Allah saved (you); surely He is the Knower of what is in the breasts.

جب خدا ان کو تمہاری نظروں میں کم کرکے دکھلا رہا تھا کہ اگر زیادہ دکھلا دیتا تو تم سست پڑ جاتے اور آپس ہی میں جھگڑا کرنے لگتے لیکن خدا نے تمہیں اس جھگڑے سے بچالیا کہ وہ دل کے رازوں سے بھی باخبر ہے۔

And when He showed them to you, when you met, as few in your eyes and He made you to appear little in their eyes, in order that Allah might bring about a matter which was to be done, and to Allah are all affairs returned.

اور جب خدا مقابلہ کے وقت تمہاری نظروں میں دشمنوں کو کم دکھلا رہا تھا اور ان کی نظروں میں تمہیں کم کرکے دکھلا رہا تھا تاکہ اس امر کا فیصلہ کردے جو ہونے والا تھا اور سارے امور کی بازگشت اللہ ہی کی طرف ہے۔

O you who believe! when you meet a party, then be firm, and remember Allah much, that you may be successful.

ایمان والو جب کسی گروہ سے مقابلہ کرو تو ثباتِ قدم سے کام لو اور اللہ کو بہت یاد کرو کہ شاید اسی طرح کامیابی حاصل کرلو۔

And obey Allah and His Apostle and do not quarrel for then you will be weak in hearts and your power will depart, and be patient; surely Allah is with the patient.

اور اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی اطاعت کرو اور آپس میں اختلاف نہ کرو کہ کمزور پڑ جاؤ اور تمہاری ہوا بگڑ جائے اور صبر کرو کہ اللہ صبر کرنے والوں کے ساتھ ہے۔

And be not like those who came forth from their homes in great exultation and to be seen of men, and (who) turn away from the way of Allah, and Allah comprehends what they do.

اور ان لوگوں جیسے نہ ہوجاؤ جو اپنے گھروں سے اتراتے ہوئے اور لوگوں کو دکھانے کے لئے نکلے اور راہِ خدا سے روکتے رہے کہ اللہ ان کے اعمال کا احاطہ کئے ہوئے ہے۔

And when the Shaitan made their works fair seeming to them, and said: No one can overcome you this day, and surely I am your protector: but when the two parties came in sight of each other he turned upon his heels, and said: Surely I am clear of you, surely I see what you do not see, surely I fear Allah; and Allah is severe in requiting (evil).

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب شیطان نے ان کے لئے ان کے اعمال کو آراستہ کردیا اور کہا کہ آج کوئی تم پر غالب آنے والا نہیں ہے اور میں تمہارا مددگار ہوں۔ اس کے بعد جب دونوں گروہ آمنے سامنے آئے تو الٹے پاؤں بھاگ نکلا اور کہا کہ میں تم لوگوں سے بری ہوں میں وہ دیکھ رہا ہوں جو تم نہیں دیکھ رہے ہو اور میں اللہ سے ڈرتا ہوں کہ وہ سخت عذاب کرنے والا ہے۔

When the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was disease said: Their religion has deceived them; and whoever trusts in Allah, then surely Allah is Mighty, Wise.

جب منافقین اور جن کے دلوں میں کھوٹ تھا کہہ رہے تھے کہ ان لوگوں کو ان کے دین نے دھوکہ دیا ہے حالانکہ جو شخص اللہ پر اعتماد کرتا ہے تو خدا ہر شے پر غالب آنے والا اور بڑی حکمت والا ہے۔

And had you seen when the angels will cause to die those who disbelieve, smiting their faces and their backs, and (saying): Taste the punishment of burning.

کاش تم دیکھتے کہ جب فرشتے ان کی جان نکال رہے تھے اور ان کے منہ اور پیٹھ پر مارتے جاتے تھے کہ اب جہنّم کا مزہ چکھو۔

This is for what your own hands have sent on before, and because Allah is not in the least unjust to the servants;

یہ اس لئے کہ تمہارے پچھلے اعمال کا نتیجہ یہی ہے اور خدا اپنے بندوں پر ظلم کرنے والا نہیں ہے۔

In the manner of the people of Firon and those before them; they disbelieved in Allah’s communications, therefore Allah destroyed them on account of their faults; surely Allah is strong, severe in requiting (evil).

جو حال آلِ فرعون اور ان کے پہلے والوں کا تھا کہ انہوں نے آیاتِ الٰہیہ کا انکار کیا تو خدا نے انہیں ان کے گناہوں کی گرفت میں لے لیا کہ اللہ قوی بھی ہے اور شدید عذاب کرنے والا بھی ہے۔

This is because Allah has never changed a favor which He has conferred upon a people until they change their own condition; and because Allah is Hearing, Knowing;

یہ اس لئے کہ خدا کسی قوم کو دی ہوئی نعمت کو اس وقت تک نہیں بدلتا جب تک وہ خود اپنے تئیں تغیر نہ پیدا کردیں کہ خدا سننے والا بھی ہے اور جاننے والا بھی ہے۔

In the manner of the people of Firon and those before them; they rejected the communications of their Lord, therefore We destroyed them on account of their faults and We drowned Firon’s people, and they were all unjust.

جس طرح آلِ فرعون اور ان کے پہلے والوں کا انجام ہوا کہ انہوں نے پروردگار کی آیات کا انکار کیا تو ہم نے ان کے گناہوں کی بنا پر انہیں ہلاک کردیا اور آلِ فرعون کو غرق کردیا کہ یہ سب کے سب ظالم تھے۔

Surely the vilest of animals in Allah’s sight are those who disbelieve, then they would not believe.

زمین پر چلنے والوں میں بدترین افراد وہ ہیں جنہوں نے کفر اختیار کرلیا اور اب وہ ایمان لانے والے نہیں ہیں۔

Those with whom you make an agreement, then they break their agreement every time and they do not guard (against punishment).

جن سے آپ نے عہد لیا اور اس کے بعد وہ ہر مرتبہ اپنے عہد کو توڑ دیتے ہیں اور خدا کا خوف نہیں کرتے۔

Therefore if you overtake them in fighting, then scatter by (making an example of) them those who are in their rear, that they may be mindful.

اگر وہ جنگ میں تمہارے قبضہ میں آجائیں تو انہیں اور ان کے پشتیبان سب کو نکال باہر کرو تاکہ عبرت حاصل کریں۔

And if you fear treachery on the part of a people, then throw back to them on terms of equality; surely Allah does not love the treacherous.

اور اگر کسی قوم سے کسی خیانت یا بدعہدی کا خطرہ ہے تو آپ بھی ان کے عہد کو ان کی طرف پھینک دیں کہ اللہ خیانت کاروں کو دوست نہیں رکھتا ہے۔

And let not those who disbelieve think that they shall come in first; surely they will not escape.

اور خبردار کافروں کو یہ خیال نہ ہو کہ وہ آگے بڑھ گئے وہ کبھی مسلمانوں کو عاجز نہیں کرسکتے۔

And prepare against them what force you can and horses tied at the frontier, to frighten thereby the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them, whom you do not know (but) Allah knows them; and whatever thing you will spend in Allah’s way, it will be paid back to you fully and you shall not be dealt with unjustly.

اور تم سب ان کے مقابلہ کے لئے امکانی قوت اور گھوڑوں کی صف بندی کا انتظام کرو جس سے اللہ کے دشمن ، اپنے دشمن اور ان کے علاوہ جن کو تم نہیں جانتے ہو اور اللہ جانتا ہے سب کو خوف زدہ کردو اور جو کچھ بھی راہِ خدا میں خرچ کرو گے سب پورا پورا ملے گا اور تم پر کسی طرح کا ظلم نہیں کیا جائے گا۔

And if they incline to peace, then incline to it and trust in Allah; surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

اور اگر وہ صلح کی طرف مائل ہوں تو تم بھی جھک جاؤ اور اللہ پر بھروسہ کرو کہ وہ سب کچھ سننے والا اور جاننے والا ہے۔

And if they intend to deceive you- then surely Allah is sufficient for you; He it is Who strengthened you with His help and with the believers

اور اگر یہ آپ کو دھوکہ دینا چاہیں گے تو خدا آپ کے لئے کافی ہے۔ اس نے آپ کی تائید، اپنی نصرت اور صاحبانِ ایمان کے ذریعہ کی ہے۔

And united their hearts; had you spent all that is in the earth, you could not have united their hearts, but Allah united them; surely He is Mighty, Wise.

اور ان کے دلوں میں محبّت پیدا کردی ہے کہ اگر آپ ساری دنیا خرچ کردیتے تو بھی ان کے دلوں میں باہمی الفت نہیں پیدا کرسکتے تھے لیکن خدا نے یہ الفت و محبّت پیدا کردی ہے کہ وہ ہر شے پر غالب اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

O Prophet! Allah is sufficient for you and (for) such of the believers as follow you.

اے پیغمبر آپ کے لئے خدا اور وہ مومنین کافی ہیں جو آپ کا اتباع کرنے والے ہیں۔

O Prophet! urge the believers to war; if there are twenty patient ones of you they shall overcome two hundred, and if there are a hundred of you they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they are a people who do not understand.

اے پیغمبر آپ لوگوں کو جہاد پر آمادہ کریں اگر ان میں بیس بھی صبر کرنے والے ہوں گے تو دو سو پر غالب آجائیں گے اور اگر سو ہوں گے تو ہزاروں کافروں پر غالب آجائیں گے اس لئے کہ کفاّر سمجھدار قوم نہیں ہیں۔

For the present Allah has made light your burden, and He knows that there is weakness in you; so if there are a hundred patient ones of you they shall overcome two hundred, and if there are a thousand they shall overcome two thousand by Allah’s permission, and Allah is with the patient.

اب اللہ نے تمہارا بار ہلکا کردیا ہے اور اس نے دیکھ لیا ہے کہ تم میں کمزوری پائی جاتی ہے تو اگرتم میں سو بھی صبر کرنے والے ہوں گے تو دو سو پر غالب آجائیں گے اور اگر ہزار ہوں گے تو بحکم خدا دو ہزار پر غالب آجائیں گے اور اللہ صبر کرنے والوں کے ساتھ ہے۔

It is not fit for a prophet that he should take captives unless he has fought and triumphed in the land; you desire the frail goods of this world, while Allah desires (for you) the hereafter; and Allah is Mighty, Wise.

کسی نبی کو یہ حق نہیں ہے کہ وہ قیدی بنا کر رکھے جب تک زمین میں جہاد کی سختیوں کا سامنا نہ کرے، تم لوگ تو صرف مالِ دنیا چاہتے ہو جب کہ اللہ آخرت چاہتا ہے اور وہی صاحبِ عزّت و حکمت ہے۔

Were it not for an ordinance from Allah that had already gone forth, surely there would have befallen you a great chastisement for what you had taken to.

اگر خدا کی طرف سے پہلے فیصلہ نہ ہوچکا ہوتا تو تم لوگوں نے جو فدیہ لے لیا تھا اس پر عذابِ عظیم نازل ہوجاتا۔

Eat then of the lawful and good (things) which you have acquired in war, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

پس اب جو مالِ غنیمت حاصل کرلیا ہے اسے کھاؤ کہ وہ حلال اور پاکیزہ ہے اور تقویٰ الٰہی اختیار کرو کہ اللہ بہت بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

O Prophet! say to those of the captives who are in your hands: If Allah knows anything good in your hearts, He will give to you better than that which has been taken away from you and will forgive you, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اے پیغمبر اپنے ہاتھ کے قیدیوں سے کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر خدا تمہارے دلوں میں نیکی دیکھے گا تو جو مال تم سے لے لیا گیا ہے اس سے بہتر نیکی تمہیں عطا کردے گا اور تمہیں معاف کردے گا کہ وہ بڑا بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

And if they intend to act unfaithfully towards you, so indeed they acted unfaithfully towards Allah before, but He gave (you) mastery over them; and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

اور اگر یہ آپ سے خیانت کرنا چاہتے ہیں تو اس سے پہلے خدا سے خیانت کرچکے ہیں جس کے بعد خدا نے ان پر قابو عطا کردیا کہ وہ سب کچھ جاننے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

Surely those who believed and fled (their homes) and struggled hard in Allah’s way with their property and their souls, and those who gave shelter and helped- these are guardians of each other; and (as for) those who believed and did not fly, not yours is their guardianship until they fly; and if they seek aid from you in the matter of religion, aid is incumbent on you except against a people between whom and you there is a treaty, and Allah sees what you do.

بےشک جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور انہوں نے ہجرت کی اور راہِ خدا میں اپنے جان و مال سے جہاد کیا اور جنہوں نے پناہ دی اور مدد کی یہ سب آپس میں ایک دوسرے کے ولی ہیں اور جن لوگوں نے ایمان اختیار کرکے ہجرت نہیں کی ان کی ولایت سے آپ کا کوئی تعلق نہیں ہے جب تک ہجرت نہ کریں اور اگر دین کے معاملہ میں تم سے مدد مانگیں تو تمہارا فرض ہے کہ مدد کردو علاوہ اس قوم کے مقابلہ کے جس سے تمہارا معاہدہ ہوچکا ہے کہ اللہ تمہارے اعمال کو خوب دیکھنے والا ہے۔

And (as for) those who disbelieve, some of them are the guardians of others; if you will not do it, there will be in the land persecution and great mischief.

جو لوگ کفر والے ہیں وہ آپس میں ایک دوسرے کے مددگار ہیں اور اگر تم ایمان والوں کی مدد نہ کرو گے تو زمین میں فتنہ اور عظیم فساد برپا ہوجائے گا۔

And (as for) those who believed and fled and struggled hard in Allah’s way, and those who gave shelter and helped, these are the believers truly; they shall have forgiveness and honorable provision.

اور جن لوگوں نے ایمان اختیار کیا اور ہجرت کی اور راہِ خدا میں جہاد کیا اور پناہ دی اور نصرت کی وہی درحقیقت واقعی مومنین ہیں اور ان ہی کے لئے مغفرت اور باعزّت رزق ہے۔

And (as for) those who believed afterwards and fled and struggled hard along with you, they are of you; and the possessors of relationships are nearer to each other in the ordinance of Allah; surely Allah knows all things.

اور جو لوگ بعد میں ایمان لے آئے اور ہجرت کی اور آپ کے ساتھ جہاد کیا وہ بھی تم ہی میں سے ہیں اور قرابتدار کتابِ خدا میں سب آپس میں ایک دوسرے سے زیادہ اوّلیت اور قربت رکھتے ہیں بےشک اللہ ہر شے کا بہترین جاننے والا ہے۔

(This is a declaration of) immunity by Allah and His Apostle towards those of the idolaters with whom you made an agreement.

مسلمانو جن مشرکین سے تم نے عہد و پیمان کیا تھا اب ان سے خدا و رسول کی طرف سے مکمل بیزاری کا اعلان ہے۔

So go about in the land for four months and know that you cannot weaken Allah and that Allah will bring disgrace to the unbelievers.

لہذا کافرو! چار مہینے تک آزادی سے زمین میں سیر کرو اور یہ یاد رکھو کہ خدا سے بچ کر نہیں جاسکتے اور خدا کافروں کو ذلیل کرنے والا ہے۔

And an announcement from Allah and His Apostle to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage that Allah and His Apostle are free from liability to the idolaters; therefore if you repent, it will be better for you, and if you turn back, then know that you will not weaken Allah; and announce painful punishment to those who disbelieve.

اور اللہ و رسول کی طرف سے حج اکبر کے دن انسانوں کے لئے اعلانِ عام ہے کہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول دونوں مشرکین سے بیزار ہیں لہذا اگر تم توبہ کرلو گے تو تمہارے حق میں بہتر ہے اور اگر انحراف کیا تو یاد رکھنا کہ تم اللہ کو عاجز نہیں کرسکتے ہو اور پیغمبر آپ کافروں کو دردناک عذاب کی بشارت دے دیجئے۔

Except those of the idolaters with whom you made an agreement, then they have not failed you in anything and have not backed up anyone against you, so fulfill their agreement to the end of their term; surely Allah loves those who are careful (of their duty).

علاوہ ان افراد کے جن سے تم مسلمانوں نے معاہدہ کررکھا ہے اور انہوں نے کوئی کوتاہی نہیں کی ہے اور تمہارے خلاف ایک دوسرے کی مدد نہیں کی ہے تو چار مہینے کے بجائے جو مدّت طے کی ہے اس وقت تک عہد کو پورا کرو کہ خدا تقویٰ اختیار کرنے والوں کو دوست رکھتا ہے۔

So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

پھر جب یہ محترم مہینے گزر جائیں تو کفاّر کو جہاں پاؤ قتل کردو اور گرفت میں لے لو اور قید کردو اور ہر راستہ اور گزر گاہ پر ان کے لئے بیٹھ جاؤ اور راستہ تنگ کردو۔ پھر اگر توبہ کرلیں اور نماز قائم کریں اور زکوٰۃادا کریں تو ان کا راستہ چھوڑ دو کہ خدا بڑا بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

And if one of the idolaters seek protection from you, grant him protection till he hears the word of Allah, then make him attain his place of safety; this is because they are a people who do not know.

اور اگر مشرکین میں کوئی تم سے پناہ مانگے تو اسے پناہ دے دو تاکہ وہ کتابِ خدا سُنے اس کے بعد اسے آزاد کرکے جہاں اس کی پناہ گاہ ہو وہاں تک پہنچا دو اور یہ مراعات اس لئے ہے کہ یہ جاہل قوم حقائق سے آشنا نہیں ہے۔

How can there be an agreement for the idolaters with Allah and with His Apostle; except those with whom you made an agreement at the Sacred Mosque? So as long as they are true to you, be true to them; surely Allah loves those who are careful (of their duty).

اللہ و رسول کے نزدیک عہد شکن مشرکین کا کوئی عہد و پیمان کس طرح قائم رہ سکتا ہے ہاں اگر تم لوگوں نے کسی سے مسجد الحرام کے نزدیک عہد کرلیا ہے تو جب تک وہ لوگ اپنے عہد پر قائم رہیں تم بھی قائم رہو کہ اللہ متقی اور پرہیزگار افراد کو دوست رکھتا ہے۔

How (can it be)! while if they prevail against you, they would not pay regard in your case to ties of relationship, nor those of covenant; they please you with their mouths while their hearts do not consent; and most of them are transgressors.

ان کے ساتھ کس طرح رعایت کی جائے جب کہ یہ تم پر غالب آجائیں تو نہ کسی ہمسائگی اور قرابت کی نگرانی کریں گے اور نہ کوئی عہد و پیمان دیکھیں گے، یہ تو صرف زبانی تم کو خوش کررہے ہیں ورنہ ان کا دل قطعی منکر ہے اور ان کی اکثریت فاسق اور بدعہد ہے۔

They have taken a small price for the communications of Allah, so they turn away from His way; surely evil is it that they do.

انہوں نے آیاتِ الٰہیہ کے بدلے بہت تھوڑی منفعت کو لے لیا ہے اور اب راہِ خدا سے روک رہے ہیں، یہ بہت برا کام کررہے ہیں۔

They do not pay regard to ties of relationship nor those of covenant in the case of a believer; and these are they who go beyond the limits.

یہ کسی مومن کے بارے میں کسی قرابت یا قول و اقرار کی پرواہ نہیں کرتے ہیں یہ صرف زیادتی کرنے والے لوگ ہیں۔

But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and We make the communications clear for a people who know.

پھر بھی اگر یہ توبہ کرلیں اور نماز قائم کریں اور زکٰوۃ ادا کریں تو دین میں تمہارے بھائی ہیں اور ہم صاحبانِ علم کے لئے اپنی آیات کو تفصیل کے ساتھ بیان کرتے رہتے ہیں۔

And if they break their oaths after their agreement and (openly) revile your religion, then fight the leaders of unbelief- surely their oaths are nothing- so that they may desist.

اور اگر یہ عہد کے بعد بھی اپنی قسموں کو توڑ دیں اور دین میں طعنہ زنی کریں تو کفر کے سربراہوں سے کھل کر جہاد کرو کہ ان کی قسموں کا کوئی اعتبار نہیں ہے شاید یہ اسی طرح اپنی حرکتوں سے باز آجائیں۔

What! will you not fight a people who broke their oaths and aimed at the expulsion of the Apostle, and they attacked you first; do you fear them? But Allah is most deserving that you should fear Him, if you are believers.

کیا تم اس قوم سے جہاد نہ کرو گے جس نے اپنے عہد و پیمان کو توڑ دیا ہے اور رسول کو وطن سے نکال دینے کا ارادہ بھی کرلیا ہے اور تمہارے مقابلہ میں مظالم کی پہل بھی کی ہے۔ کیا تم ان سے ڈرتے ہو تو خدا زیادہ حقدار ہے کہ اس کا خوف پیدا کرو اگر تم صاحبِ ایمان ہو۔

Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace, and assist you against them and heal the hearts of a believing people.

ان سے جنگ کرو اللہ انہیں تمہارے ہاتھوں سے سزا دے گا اور رسوا کرے گا اور تمہیں ان پر فتح عطا کرے گا اور صاحبِ ایمان قوم کے دلوں کو ٹھنڈا کردے گا۔

And remove the rage of their hearts; and Allah turns (mercifully) to whom He pleases, and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

اور ان کے دلوں کا غصّہ دور کردے گا اور اللہ جس کی توبہ کو چاہتا ہے قبول کرلیتا ہے کہ وہ صاحبِ علم بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے۔

What! do you think that you will be left alone while Allah has not yet known those of you who have struggled hard and have not taken anyone as an adherent besides Allah and His Apostle and the believers; and Allah is aware of what you do.

کیا تمہارا خیال یہ ہے کہ تم کو اسی طرح چھوڑ دیا جائے گا جب کہ اللہ نے ابھی یہ بھی نہیں دیکھا ہے کہ تم میں جہاد کرنے والے کون لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے خدا، رسول اور صاحبانِ ایمان کو چھوڑ کر کسی کو دوست نہیں بنایا ہے اور اللہ تمہارے اعمال سے خوب باخبر ہے۔

The idolaters have no right to visit the mosques of Allah while bearing witness to unbelief against themselves, these it is whose doings are , and in the fire shall they abide.

یہ کام مشرکین کا نہیں ہے کہ وہ مساجد خدا کو آباد کریں جب کہ وہ خود اپنے نفس کے کفر کے گواہ ہیں، ان کے اعمال برباد ہیں اور وہ جہنّم میں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں۔

Only he shall visit the mosques of Allah who believes in Allah and the latter day, and keeps up prayer and pays the poor-rate and fears none but Allah; so (as for) these, it may be that they are of the followers of the right course.

اللہ کی مسجدوں کو صرف وہ لوگ آباد کرتے ہیں جن کا ایمان اللہ اور روز آخرت پر ہے اور جنہوں نے نماز قائم کی ہے زکوٰۃادا کی ہے اور سوائے خدا کے کسی سے نہیں ڈرے یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جو عنقریب ہدایت یافتہ لوگوں میں شمار کئے جائیں گے۔

What! do you make (one who undertakes) the giving of drink to the pilgrims and the guarding of the Sacred Mosque like him who believes in Allah and the latter day and strives hard in Allah’s way? They are not equal with Allah; and Allah does not guide the unjust people.

کیا تم نے حاجیوں کے پانی پلانے اور مسجد الحرام کی آبادی کو اس کا جیسا سمجھ لیا ہے جو اللہ اور آخرت پر ایمان رکھتا ہے اور راہِ خدا میں جہاد کرتا ہے۔ ہرگز یہ دونوں اللہ کے نزدیک برابر نہیں ہوسکتے اور اللہ ظالم قوم کی ہدایت نہیں کرتا ہے۔

Those who believed and fled (their homes), and strove hard in Allah’s way with their property and their souls, are much higher in rank with Allah; and those are they who are the achievers (of their objects).

بےشک جو لوگ ایمان لے آئے اور انہوں نے ہجرت کی اور راہ خدا میں جان اور مال سے جہاد کیا وہ اللہ کے نزدیک عظیم درجہ کے مالک ہیں اور درحقیقت وہی کامیاب بھی ہیں۔

Their Lord gives them good news of mercy from Himself and (His) good pleasure and gardens, wherein lasting blessings shall be theirs;

اللہ ان کو اپنی رحمت، رضامندی اور باغات کی بشارت دیتا ہے جہاں ان کے لئے دائمی نعمتیں ہوں گی۔

Abiding therein forever; surely Allah has a Mighty reward with Him.

وہ ان ہی باغات میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے کہ اللہ کے پاس عظیم ترین اجر ہے۔

O you who believe! do not take your fathers and your brothers for guardians if they love unbelief more than belief; and whoever of you takes them for a guardian, these it is that are the unjust.

ایمان والو خبردار اپنے باپ دادا اور بھائیوں کو اپنا دوست نہ بناؤ اگر وہ ایمان کے مقابلہ میں کفر کو دوست رکھتے ہوں اور جو شخص بھی ایسے لوگوں کو اپنا دوست بنائے گا وہ ظالموں میں شمار ہوگا۔

Say: If your fathers and your sons and your brethren and your mates and your kinsfolk and property which you have acquired, and the slackness of trade which you fear and dwellings which you like, are dearer to you than Allah and His Apostle and striving in His way, then wait till Allah brings about His command: and Allah does not guide the transgressing people.

پیغمبرآپ کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر تمہارے باپ دادا، أولاد، برادران، ازواج، عشیرہ و قبیلہ اور وہ اموال جنہیں تم نے جمع کیا ہے اور وہ تجارت جس کے خسارہ کی طرف سے فکرمند رہتے ہو اور وہ مکانات جنہیں پسند کرتے ہو تمہاری نگاہ میں اللہ، اس کے رسول اور راہِ خدا میں جہاد سے زیادہ محبوب ہیں تو وقت کا انتظار کرو یہاں تک کہ امرِ الہی آجائے اور اللہ فاسق قوم کی ہدایت نہیں کرتا ہے۔

Certainly Allah helped you in many battlefields and on the day of (battle of) Hunain, when your great numbers made you vain, but they availed you nothing and the earth became strait to you notwithstanding its spaciousness, then you turned back retreating.

بےشک اللہ نے کثیر مقامات پر تمہاری مدد کی ہے اور حنین کے دن بھی جب تمہیں اپنی کثرت پر ناز تھا لیکن اس نے تمہیں کوئی فائدہ نہیں پہنچایا اور تمہارے لئے زمین اپنی وسعتوں سمیت تنگ ہوگئی اور اس کے بعد تم پیٹھ پھیر کر بھاگ نکلے۔

Then Allah sent down His tranquillity upon His Apostle and upon the believers, and sent down hosts which you did not see, and chastised those who disbelieved, and that is the reward of the unbelievers.

پھر اس کے بعد خدا نے اپنے رسول اور صاحبانِ ایمان پر سکون نازل کیا اور وہ لشکر بھیجے جنہیں تم نے نہیں دیکھا اور کفر اختیار کرنے والوں پر عذاب نازل کیا یہی کافرین کی جزا اور ان کا انجام ہے۔

Then will Allah after this turn (mercifully) to whom He pleases, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اس کے بعد خدا جس کی چاہے گا توبہ قبول کرلے گا وہ بڑا بخشنے والا مہربان ہے۔

O you who believe! the idolaters are nothing but unclean, so they shall not approach the Sacred Mosque after this year; and if you fear poverty then Allah will enrich you out of His grace if He please; surely Allah is Knowing, Wise.

ایمان والو! مشرکین صرف نجاست ہیں لہذا خبردار اس سال کے بعد مسجدالحرام میں داخل نہ ہونے پائیں اور اگر تمہیں غربت کا خوف ہے تو عنقریب خدا چاہے گا تو اپنے فضل و کرم سے تمہیں غنی بنادے گا کہ وہ صاحبِ علم بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے۔

Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

ان لوگوں سے جہاد کرو جو خدا اور روزِ آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے اور جس چیز کو خدا و رسول نے حرام قرار دیا ہے اسے حرام نہیں سمجھتے اور اہل کتاب ہوتے ہوئے بھی دینِ حق کا التزام (پابندی) نہیں کرتے، یہاں تک کہ اپنے ہاتھوں سے ذلّت کے ساتھ تمہارے سامنے جزیہ پیش کرنے پر آمادہ ہوجائیں۔

And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!

اور یہودیوں کا کہنا ہے کہ عزیرؑ اللہ کے بیٹے ہیں اور نصارٰی کہتے ہیں کہ مسیحؑ اللہ کے بیٹے ہیں یہ سب ان کی زبانی باتیں ہیں،ان باتوں میں یہ بالکل ان کے مثل ہیں جو ان کے پہلے کفار کہا کرتے تھے، اللہ ان سب کو قتل کرے یہ کہاں بہکے چلے جارہے ہیں۔

They have taken their doctors of law and their monks for lords besides Allah, and (also) the Messiah son of Marium and they were enjoined that they should serve one God only, there is no god but He; far from His glory be what they set up (with Him).

ان لوگوں نے اپنے عالموں اور راہبوں اور مسیح بن مریمؑ کو خدا کو چھوڑ کر اپنا رب بنالیا ہے حالانکہ انہیں صرف خدائے یکتا کی عبادت کا حکم دیا گیا تھا جس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے وہ واحد و بے نیاز ہے اور ان کے مشرکانہ خیالات سے پاک و پاکیزہ ہے۔

They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths, and Allah will not consent save to perfect His light, though the unbelievers are averse.

یہ لوگ چاہتے ہیں کہ نورِ خدا کواپنے منہ سے پھونک مار کر بجھا دیں حالانکہ خدا اس کے علاوہ کچھ ماننے کے لئے تیار نہیں ہے کہ وہ اپنے نور کو تمام کردے چاہے کافروں کو یہ کتنا ہی برا کیوں نہ لگے۔

He it is Who sent His Apostle with guidance and the religion of truth, that He might cause it to prevail over all religions, though the polytheists may be averse.

وہ خدا وہ ہے جس نے اپنے رسول کو ہدایت اور دینِ حق کے ساتھ بھیجا تاکہ اپنے دین کو تمام ادیان پر غالب بنائے چاہے مشرکین کو کتنا ہی ناگوار کیوں نہ ہو۔

O you who believe! most surely many of the doctors of law and the monks eat away the property of men falsely, and turn (them) from Allah’s way; and (as for) those who hoard up gold and silver and do not spend it in Allah’s way, announce to them a painful chastisement

ایمان والو نصارٰی کے بہت سے علماء اور راہب، لوگوں کے اموال کو ناجائز طریقہ سے کھاجاتے ہیں اور لوگوں کو راہِ خدا سے روکتے ہیں، اور جو لوگ سونے چاندی کا ذخیرہ کرتے ہیں اور اسے راہِ خدا میں خرچ نہیں کرتے پیغمبرآپ انہیں دردناک عذاب کی بشارت دے دیں۔

On the day when it shall be heated in the fire of hell, then their foreheads and their sides and their backs shall be branded with it; this is what you hoarded up for yourselves, therefore taste what you hoarded.

جس دن وہ سونا چاندی آتشِ جہنّم میں تپایا جائے گا اور اس سے ان کی پیشانیوں اور ان کے پہلوؤں اور پشت کو داغا (جلایا) جائے گا کہ یہی وہ ذخیرہ ہے جو تم نے اپنے لئے جمع کیا تھا اب اپنے خزانوں اور ذخیروں کا مزہ چکھو۔

Surely the number of months with Allah is twelve months in Allah’s ordinance since the day when He created the heavens and the earth, of these four being sacred; that is the right reckoning; therefore be not unjust to yourselves regarding them, and fight the polytheists all together as they fight you all together; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil).

بےشک مہینوں کی تعداد اللہ کے نزدیک کتابِ خدا میں اس دن سے بارہ ہے جس دن اس نے آسمانوں اور زمین کو پیدا کیا ہے۔ ان میں سے چار مہینے محترم ہیں اور یہی سیدھا اور مستحکم دین ہے لہٰذا خبردار ان مہینوں میں اپنے اوپر ظلم نہ کرنا اور تمام مشرکین سے اسی طرح جہاد کرنا جس طرح وہ تم سے جنگ کرتے ہیں اور یہ یاد رکھنا کہ خدا صرف متقی اور پرہیزگار لوگوں کے ساتھ ہے۔

Postponing (of the sacred month) is only an addition in unbelief, wherewith those who disbelieve are led astray, violating it one year and keeping it sacred another, that they may agree in the number (of months) that Allah has made sacred, and thus violate what Allah has made sacred; the evil of their doings is made fairseeming to them; and Allah does not guide the unbelieving people.

محترم مہینوں میں تقدیم و تاخیر کفر میں ایک قسم کی زیادتی ہے جس کے ذریعہ کفاّر کو گمراہ کیا جاتا ہے کہ وہ ایک سال اسے حلال بنالیتے ہیں اور دوسرے سال حرام کردیتے ہیں تاکہ اتنی تعداد برابر ہوجائے جتنی خدا نے حرام کی ہے اور حرامِ خدا حلال بھی ہوجائے، ان کے بدترین اعمال کو ان کی نگاہ میں آراستہ کردیا گیا ہے اور اللہ کافر قوم کی ہدایت نہیں کرتا ہے۔

O you who believe! What (excuse) have you that when it is said to you: Go forth in Allah’s way, you should incline heavily to earth; are you contented with this world’s life instead of the hereafter? But the provision of this world’s life compared with the hereafter is but little.

ایمان والو تمہیں کیا ہوگیا ہے کہ جب تم سے کہا گیا کہ راہِ خدا میں جہاد کے لئے نکلو تو تم زمین سے چپک کر رہ گئے کیا تم آخرت کے بدلے زندگانی دنیا سے راضی ہوگئے ہو تو یاد رکھو کہ آخرت میں اس متاعِ زندگانی دنیا کی حقیقت بہت قلیل ہے۔

If you do not go forth, He will chastise you with a painful chastisement and bring in your place a people other than you, and you will do Him no harm; and Allah has power over all things.

اگر تم راہِ خدا میں نہ نکلو گے تو خدا تمہیں دردناک عذاب میں مبتلا کرے گا اور تمہارے بدلے دوسری قوم کو لے آئے گا اور تم اسے کوئی نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکتے ہو کہ وہ ہر شے پر قدرت رکھنے والا ہے۔

If you will not aid him, Allah certainly aided him when those who disbelieved expelled him, he being the second of the two, when they were both in the cave, when he said to his companion: Grieve not, surely Allah is with us. So Allah sent down His tranquillity upon him and strengthened him with hosts which you did not see, and made lowest the word of those who disbelieved; and the word of Allah, that is the highest; and Allah is Mighty, Wise.

اگر تم پیغمبر کی مدد نہ کرو گے تو ان کی مدد خدا نے کی ہے اس وقت جب کفاّر نے انہیں وطن سے باہر نکال دیا اور وہ ایک شخص کے ساتھ نکلے اور دونوں غار میں تھے تو وہ اپنے ساتھی سے کہہ رہے تھے کہ رنج نہ کرو خدا ہمارے ساتھ ہے پھر خدا نے اپنی طرف سے اپنے پیغمبر پر سکون نازل کردیا اور ان کی تائید ان لشکروں سے کردی جنہیں تم نہ دیکھ سکے اور اللہ ہی نے کفاّر کے کلمہ کو پست بنادیا ہے اور اللہ کا کلمہ درحقیقت بہت بلند ہے کہ وہ صاحبِ عزّت و غلبہ بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے۔

Go forth light and heavy, and strive hard in Allah’s way with your property and your persons; this is better for you, if you know.

مسلمانو! تم ہلکے ہو یا بھاری گھر سے نکل پڑو اور راہِ خدا میں اپنے اموال اور نفوس سے جہاد کرو کہ یہی تمہارے حق میں خیر ہے اگرتم کچھ جانتے ہو۔

Had it been a near advantage and a short journey, they would certainly have followed you, but the tedious journey was too long for them; and they swear by Allah: If we had been able, we would certainly have gone forth with you; they cause their own souls to perish, and Allah knows that they are most surely liars.

پیغمبر! اگر کوئی قریبی فائدہ یا آسان سفر ہوتا تو یہ ضرور تمہارا اتباع کرتے لیکن ان کے لئے دور کا سفر مشکل بن گیا ہے اور عنقریب یہ خدا کی قسم کھائیں گے کہ اگر ممکن ہوتا تو ہم ضرور آپ کے ساتھ نکل پڑتے۔ یہ اپنے نفس کو ہلاک کررہے ہیں اور خدا خوب جانتا ہے کہ یہ جھوٹے ہیں۔

Allah pardon you! Why did you give them leave until those who spoke the truth had become manifest to you and you had known the liars?

پیغمبر!خدا نے آپ سے درگزر کیا کہ آپ نے کیوں انہیں پیچھے رہ جانے کی اجازت دے دی بغیر یہ معلوم کئے کہ ان میں کون سچاّ ہے اور کون جھوٹا ہے۔

They do not ask leave of you who believe in Allah and the latter day (to stay away) from striving hard with their property and their persons, and Allah knows those who guard (against evil).

جو لوگ اللہ اور روزِ آخرت پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں وہ ہرگز اپنے جان و مال سے جہاد کرنے کے خلاف اجازت نہ طلب کریں گے کہ خدا صاحبانِ تقویٰ کو خوب جانتا ہے۔

They only ask leave of you who do not believe in Allah and the latter day and their hearts are in doubt, so in their doubt do they waver.

یہ اجازت صرف وہ لوگ طلب کرتے ہیں جن کا ایمان اللہ اور روز آخرت پر نہیں ہے اور ان کے دلوں میں شبہ ہے اور وہ اسی شبہ میں چکّر کاٹ رہے ہیں۔

And if they had intended to go forth, they would certainly have provided equipment for it, but Allah did not like their going forth, so He withheld them, and it was said (to them): Hold back with those who hold back.

یہ اگر نکلنا چاہتے تو اس کے لئے سامان تیار کرتے لیکن خدا ہی کو ان کا نکلنا پسند نہیں ہے اس لئے اس نے ان کے ارادوں کو کمزور رہنے دیا اور ان سے کہا گیا کہ اب تم بیٹھنے والوں کے ساتھ بیٹھے رہو۔

Had they gone forth with you, they would not have added to you aught save corruption, and they would certainly have hurried about among you seeking (to sow) dissension among you, and among you there are those who hearken for their sake; and Allah knows the unjust.

اگر یہ تمہارے درمیان نکل بھی پڑتے تو تمہاری وحشت میں اضافہ ہی کردیتے اور تمہارے درمیان فتنہ کی تلاش میں گھوڑے دوڑاتے پھرتے اور تم میں ایسے لوگ بھی تھے جو ان کی سننے والے بھی تھے اور اللہ تو ظالمین کو خوب جاننے والا ہے۔

Certainly they sought (to sow) dissension before, and they meditated plots against you until the truth came, and Allah’s commandment prevailed although they were averse (from it).

بےشک انہوں نے اس سے پہلے بھی فتنہ کی کوشش کی تھی اور تمہارے امور کو الٹ پلٹ دینا چاہا تھا یہاں تک کہ حق آگیا اور امر خدا واضح ہوگیا اگرچہ یہ لوگ اسے ناپسند کررہے تھے۔

And among them there is he who says: Allow me and do not try me. Surely into trial have they already tumbled down, and most surely hell encompasses the unbelievers.

ان میں وہ لوگ بھی ہیں جو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم کو اجازت دے دیجئے اور فتنہ میں نہ ڈالئے تو آگاہ ہوجاؤ کہ یہ واقعًا فتنہ میں گر چکے ہیں اور جہنّم تو کافرین کو ہر طرف سے احاطہ کئے ہوئے ہے۔

If good befalls you, it grieves them, and if hardship afflicts you, they say: Indeed we had taken care of our affair before; and they turn back and are glad.

ان کا حال یہ ہے کہ آپ تک نیکی آتی ہے تو انہیں بُری لگتی ہے اور کوئی مصیبت آجاتی ہے تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے اپنا کام پہلے ہی ٹھیک کرلیا تھا اور خوش و خرم واپس چلے جاتے ہیں۔

Say: Nothing will afflict us save what Allah has ordained for us; He is our Patron; and on Allah let the believers rely.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ ہم تک وہی حالات آتے ہیں جو خدا نے ہمارے حق میں لکھ دیئے ہیں وہی ہمارا مولا ہے اور صاحبانِ ایمان اسی پر توکل اور اعتماد رکھتے ہیں۔

Say: Do you await for us but one of two most excellent things? And we await for you that Allah will afflict you with punishment from Himself or by our hands. So wait; we too will wait with you.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تم ہمارے بارے میں جس بات کا بھی انتظار کررہے ہو وہ دو میں سے ایک نیکی ہے اور ہم تمہارے بارے میں اس بات کا انتظار کررہے ہیں کہ خدا اپنی طرف سے یا ہمارے ہاتھوں سے تمہیں عذاب میں مبتلا کردے لہٰذا اب عذاب کا انتظار کرو ہم بھی تمہارے ساتھ انتظار کررہے ہیں۔

Say: Spend willingly or unwillingly, it shall not be accepted from you; surely you are a transgressing people.

کہہ دیجئے کہ تم بخوشی خرچ کرو یا جبرًا تمہارا عمل قبول ہونے والا نہیں ہے کہ تم ایک فاسق قوم ہو۔

And nothing hinders their spendings being accepted from them, except that they disbelieve in Allah and in His Apostle and they do not come to prayer but while they are sluggish, and they do not spend but while they are unwilling.

اور ان کے نفقات کو قبول ہونے سے صرف اس بات نے روک دیا ہے کہ انہوں نے خدا اور رسول کا انکار کیا ہے اور یہ نمازبھی سستی اور کسلمندی کے ساتھ بجالاتے ہیں اور راہِ خدا میں کراہت اور ناگواری کے ساتھ خرچ کرتے ہیں۔

Let not then their property and their children excite your admiration; Allah only wishes to chastise them with these in this world’s life and (that) their souls may depart while they are unbelievers.

تمہیں ان کے اموال اور اولاد حیرت میں نہ ڈال دیں بس اللہ کاارادہ یہی ہے کہ ان ہی کے ذریعہ ان پر زندگانی دنیا میں عذاب کرے اور حالتِ کفر ہی میں ان کی جان نکل جائے۔

And they swear by Allah that they are most surely of you, and they are not of you, but they are a people who are afraid (of you).

اور یہ اللہ کی قسم کھاتے ہیں کہ یہ تم ہی میں سے ہیں حالانکہ یہ تم میں سے نہیں ہیں یہ لوگ بزدل لوگ ہیں۔

If they could find a refuge or cave or a place to enter into, they would certainly have turned thereto, running away in all haste.

ان کو کوئی پناہ گاہ یا غار یا گھس بیٹھنے کی جگہ مل جائے تو اس کی طرف بے تحاشہ بھاگ جائیں گے۔

And of them there are those who blame you with respect to the alms; so if they are given from it they are pleased, and if they are not given from it, lo! they are full of rage.

اور ان ہی میں سے وہ بھی ہیں جو خیرات کے بارے میں الزام لگاتے ہیں کہ انہیں کچھ مل جائے تو راضی ہوجائیں گے اور نہ دیا جائے تو ناراض ہوجائیں گے۔

And if they were content with what Allah and His Apostle gave them, and had said: Allah is sufficient for us; Allah will soon give us (more) out of His grace and His Apostle too; surely to Allah do we make our petition.

حالانکہ اے کاش یہ خدا و رسول کے دئیے ہوئے پر راضی ہوجاتے اور یہ کہتے کہ ہمارے لئے اللہ ہی کافی ہے عنقریب وہ اور اس کا رسول اپنے فضل و احسان سے عطا کردیں گے اور ہم تو صرف اللہ کی طرف رغبت رکھنے والے ہیں۔

Alms are only for the poor and the needy, and the officials (appointed) over them, and those whose hearts are made to incline (to truth) and the (ransoming of) captives and those in debts and in the way of Allah and the wayfarer; an ordinance from Allah; and Allah is knowing, Wise.

صدقات و خیرات بس فقراء، مساکین اور ان کے کام کرنے والے اور جن کی تالیفِ قلب کی جاتی ہے اور غلاموں کی گردن کی آزادی میں اور قرضداروں کے لئے اور راہِ خدا میں غربت زدہ مسافروں کے لئے ہیں یہ اللہ کی طرف سے فریضہ ہے اور اللہ خوب جاننے والا اور حکمت والا ہے۔

And there are some of them who molest the Prophet and say: He is one who believes everything that he hears; say: A hearer of good for you (who) believes in Allah and believes the faithful and a mercy for those of you who believe; and (as for) those who molest the Apostle of Allah, they shall have a painful punishment.

ان میں سے وہ بھی ہیں جو پیغمبر کو اذیت دیتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں کہ وہ تو صرف کان ہیں۔ آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تمہارے حق میں بہتری کے کان ہیں کہ خدا پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور مومنین کی تصدیق کرتے ہیں اور صاحبانِ ایمان کے لئے رحمت ہیں اور جو لوگ رسولِ خدا کو اذیت دیتے ہیں ان کے واسطے دردناک عذاب ہے۔

They swear to you by Allah that they might please you and, Allah, as well as His Apostle, has a greater right that they should please Him, if they are believers.

یہ لوگ تم لوگوں کو راضی کرنے کے لئے خدا کی قسم کھاتے ہیں حالانکہ خدا و رسول اس بات کے زیادہ حقدار تھے کہ اگر یہ صاحبانِ ایمان تھے تو واقعًا انہیں اپنے اعمال و کردار سے راضی کرتے۔

Do they not know that whoever acts in opposition to Allah and His Apostle, he shall surely have the fire of hell to abide in it? That is the grievous abasement.

کیا یہ نہیں جانتے ہیں کہ جو خدا و رسول سے مخالفت کرے گا اس کے لئے آتشِ جہنّم ہے اور اسی میں ہمیشہ رہنا ہے اور یہ بہت بڑی رسوائی ہے۔

The hypocrites fear lest a chapter should be sent down to them telling them plainly of what is in their hearts. Say: Go on mocking, surely Allah will bring forth what you fear.

منافقین کو یہ خوف بھی ہے کہ کہیں کوئی سورہ نازل ہوکر مسلمانوں کو ان کے دل کے حالات سے باخبر نہ کردے تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تم اور مذاق اڑاؤ اللہ بہرحال اس چیز کو منظرِ عام پر لے آئے گا جس کا تمہیں خطرہ ہے۔

And if you should question them, they would certainly say: We were only idly discoursing and sporting. Say: Was it at Allah and His communications and His Apostle that you mocked?

اور اگر آپ ان سے باز پرس کریں گے تو کہیں گے کہ ہم تو صرف بات چیت اور دل لگی کررہے تھے تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ کیا اللہ اور اس کی آیات اور رسول کے بارے میں مذاق اڑارہے تھے۔

Do not make excuses; you have denied indeed after you had believed; if We pardon a party of you, We will chastise (another) party because they are guilty.

تو اب معذرت نہ کرو، تم نے ایمان کے بعد کفر اختیار کیا ہے، ہم اگر تم میں کی ایک جماعت کو معاف بھی کردیں تو دوسری جماعت پر ضرور عذاب کریں گے کہ یہ لوگ مجرم ہیں۔

The hypocritical men and the hypocritical women are all alike; they enjoin evil and forbid good and withhold their hands; they have forsaken Allah, so He has forsaken them; surely the hypocrites are the transgressors.

منافق مرد اور منافق عورتیں آپس میں سب ایک دوسرے سے ہیں، سب برائیوں کا حکم دیتے ہیں اور نیکیوں سے روکتے ہیں اور اپنے ہاتھوں کو راہِ خدا میں خرچ کرنے سے روکے رہتے ہیں، انہوں نے اللہ کو بھلا دیا ہے تو اللہ نے انہیں بھی نظرانداز کردیا ہے کہ منافقین ہی اصل میں فاسق ہیں۔

Allah has promised the hypocritical men and the hypocritical women and the unbelievers the fire of hell to abide therein; it is enough for them; and Allah has cursed them and they shall have lasting punishment.

اور اللہ نے منافق مردوں اور عورتوں سے اور تمام کافروں سے آتشِ جہنّم کا وعدہ کیا ہے جس میں یہ ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں، وہی ان کے واسطے کافی ہے اور ان کے لئے ہمیشہ رہنے والا عذاب ہے۔

Like those before you; they were stronger than you in power and more abundant in wealth and children, so they enjoyed their portion; thus have you enjoyed your portion as those before you enjoyed their portion; and you entered into vain discourses like the vain discourses in which entered those before you. These are they whose works are in this world and the hereafter, and these are they who are the losers.

تمہاری مثال تم سے پہلے والوں کی ہے جو تم سے زیادہ طاقتور تھے اور تم سے زیادہ مالدار اور صاحبِ اولاد بھی تھے، انہوں نے اپنے حصّہ سے خوب فائدہ اٹھایا اور تم نے بھی اسی طرح اپنے نصیب سے فائدہ اٹھایا جس طرح تم سے پہلے والوں نے اٹھایا تھا اور اسی طرح لغویات میں داخل ہوئے جس طرح وہ لوگ داخل ہوئے تھے حالانکہ وہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے اعمال دنیا اور آخرت میں برباد ہوگئے اور وہی وہ لوگ ہیں جو حقیقتًا خسارہ والے ہیں۔

Has not the news of those before them come to them; of the people of Nuh and Ad and Samood, and the people of Ibrahim and the dwellers of Madyan and the overthrown cities; their apostles came to them with clear arguments; so it was not Allah Who should do them injustice, but they were unjust to themselves.

کیا ان لوگوں کے پاس ان سے پہلے والے افراد قوم نوحؑ، عادؑ، ثمودؑ، قوم ابراہیمؑ، اصحاب مدین اور الٹ دی جانے والی بستیوں کی خبرنہیں آئی جن کے پاس ان کے رسول واضح نشانیاں لے کر آئے اور انہوں نے انکار کردیا۔ خدا کسی پر ظلم کرنے والا نہیں ہے لوگ خود اپنے نفس پر ظلم کرتے ہیں۔

And (as for) the believing men and the believing women, they are guardians of each other; they enjoin good and forbid evil and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, and obey Allah and His Apostle; (as for) these, Allah will show mercy to them; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise.

مومن مرد اور مومن عورتیں آپس میں سب ایک دوسرے کے ولی اور مددگار ہیں کہ یہ سب ایک دوسرے کو نیکیوں کا حکم دیتے ہیں اور برائیوں سے روکتے ہیں، نماز قائم کرتے ہیں، زکوٰۃ ادا کرتے ہیں اللہ اور رسول کی اطاعت کرتے ہیں، یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن پر عنقریب خدا رحمت نازل کرے گا کہ وہ ہر شے پر غالب اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

Allah has promised to the believing men and the believing women gardens, beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them, and goodly dwellings in gardens of perpetual abode; and best of all is Allah’s goodly pleasure- that is the grand achievement.

اللہ نے مومن مرد اور مومن عورتوں سے ان باغات کا وعدہ کیا ہے جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہوں گی، یہ ان میں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں، ان جناتِ عدن میں پاکیزہ مکانات ہیں اور اللہ کی مرضی تو سب سے بڑی چیز ہے اور یہی ایک عظیم کامیابی ہے۔

O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination.

پیغمبر! کفار اور منافقین سے جہاد کیجئے اور ان پر سختی کیجئے کہ ان کا انجام جہنّم ہے جو بدترین ٹھکانا ہے۔

They swear by Allah that they did not speak, and certainly they did speak, the word of unbelief, and disbelieved after their Islam, and they had determined upon what they have not been able to effect, and they did not find fault except because Allah and His Apostle enriched them out of His grace; therefore if they repent, it will be good for them; and if they turn back, Allah will chastise them with a painful chastisement in this world and the hereafter, and they shall not have in the land any guardian or a helper.

یہ اپنی باتوں پر اللہ کی قسم کھاتے ہیں کہ ایسا نہیں کہا حالانکہ انہوں نے کلمہ کفر کہا ہے اور اپنے اسلام کے بعد کافر ہوگئے ہیں اور وہ ارادہ کیا تھا جو حاصل نہیں کرسکے اور ان کا غصّہ صرف اس بات پر ہے کہ اللہ اور رسول نے اپنے فضل و کرم سے مسلمانوں کو نواز دیا ہے۔ بہرحال یہ اب بھی توبہ کرلیں تو ان کے حق میں بہتر ہے اور منہ پھیرلیں تو اللہ ان پر دنیا اور آخرت میں دردناک عذاب کرے گا اور روئے زمین پر کوئی ان کا سرپرست اور مددگار نہ ہوگا۔

And there are those of them who made a covenant with Allah: If He give us out of His grace, we will certainly give alms and we will certainly be of the good.

ان میں وہ بھی ہیں جنہوں نے خدا سے عہد کیا کہ اگر وہ اپنے فضل و کرم سے عطا کردیگا تو اس کی راہ میں صدقہ دیں گے اور نیک بندوں میں شامل ہوجائیں گے۔

But when He gave them out of His grace, they became niggardly of it and they turned back and they withdrew.

اس کے بعد جب خدا نے اپنے فضل سے عطا کردیا تو بخل سے کام لیا اور کنارہ کش ہوکر پلٹ گئے۔

So He made hypocrisy to follow as a consequence into their hearts till the day when they shall meet Him because they failed to perform towards Allah what they had promised with Him and because they told lies.

تو ان کے بخل نے ان کے دلوں میں نفاق راسخ کردیا اس دن تک کے لئے جب یہ خدا سے ملاقات کریں گے اس لئے کہ انہوں نے خدا سے کئے ہوئے وعدہ کی مخالفت کی ہے اور جھوٹ بولے ہیں۔

Do they not know that Allah knows their hidden thoughts and their secret counsels, and that Allah is the great Knower of the unseen things?

کیا یہ نہیں جانتے کہ خدا ان کے رازِ دل اور ان کی سرگوشیوں کو بھی جانتا ہے اور وہ سارے غیب کا جاننے والا ہے۔

They who taunt those of the faithful who give their alms freely, and those who give to the extent of their earnings and scoff at them; Allah will pay them back their scoffing, and they shall have a painful chastisement.

جو لوگ صدقات میں فراخدلی سے حصّہ لینے والے مومنین اور ان غریبوں پر جن کے پاس ان کی محنت کے علاوہ کچھ نہیں ہے الزام لگاتے ہیں اور پھر ان کا مذاق اڑاتے ہیں خدا ان کا بھی مذاق بنادے گا اور اس کے پاس بڑا دردناک عذاب ہے۔

Ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them; even if you ask forgiveness for them seventy times, Allah will not forgive them; this is because they disbelieve in Allah and His Apostle, and Allah does not guide the transgressing people.

آپ ان کے لئے استغفار کریں یا نہ کریں، اگر ستّرمرتبہ بھی استغفار کریں گے تو خدا انہیں بخشنے والا نہیں ہے اس لئے کہ انہوں نے اللہ اور رسول کا انکار کیا ہے اور خدا فاسق قوم کو ہدایت نہیں دیتا ہے۔

Those who were left behind were glad on account of their sitting behind Allah’s Apostle and they were averse from striving in Allah’s way with their property and their persons, and said: Do not go forth in the heat. Say: The fire of hell is much severe in heat. Would that they understood (it).

جو لوگ جنگ تبوک میں نہیں گئے وہ رسول اللہ کے پیچھے بیٹھے رہ جانے پر خوش ہیں اور انہیں اپنے جان و مال سے راہِ خدامیں جہاد ناگوار معلوم ہوتا ہے اور یہ کہتے ہیں کہ تم لوگ گرمی میں نہ نکلو، تو پیغمبر آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ آتش جہنّم اس سے زیادہ گرم ہے اگر یہ لوگ کچھ سمجھنے والے ہیں۔

Therefore they shall laugh little and weep much as a recompense for what they earned.

اب یہ لوگ ہنسیں کم اور روئیں زیادہ کہ یہی ان کے کئے کی جزا ہے۔

Therefore if Allah brings you back to a party of them and then they ask your permission to go forth, say: By no means shall you ever go forth with me and by no means shall you fight an enemy with me; surely you chose to sit the first time, therefore sit (now) with those who remain behind.

اس کے بعد اگر خدا آپ کو ان کے کسی گروہ تک میدان سے واپس لائے اور یہ دوبارہ خروج کی اجازت طلب کریں تو آپ کہہ دیجئے تم لوگ کبھی میرے ساتھ نہیں نکل سکتے اور کسی دشمن سے جہاد نہیں کرسکتے تم نے پہلے ہی بیٹھے رہنا پسند کیا تھا تو اب بھی پیچھے رہ جانے والوں کے ساتھ بیٹھے رہو۔

And never offer prayer for anyone of them who dies and do not stand by his grave; surely they disbelieve in Allah and His Apostle and they shall die in transgression.

اور خبردار ان میں سے کوئی مر بھی جائے تو اس کی نماز جنازہ نہ پڑھئے گا اور اس کی قبر پر کھڑے بھی نہ ہویئے گا کہ ان لوگوں نے خدا اور رسول کا انکار کیا ہے اور حالتِ فسق میں دنیا سے گزر گئے ہیں۔

And let not their property and their children excite your admiration; Allah only wishes to chastise them with these in this world and (that) their souls may depart while they are unbelievers

اور ان کے اموال و اولاد آپ کو بھلے نہ معلوم ہوں خدا ان کے ذریعہ ان پر دنیا میں عذاب کرنا چاہتا ہے اور چاہتا ہے کہ کفر کی حالت میں ان کا دم نکل جائے۔

And whenever a chapter is revealed, saying: Believe in Allah and strive hard along with His Apostle, those having ampleness of means ask permission of you and say: Leave us (behind), that we may be with those who sit.

اور جب کوئی سورہ نازل ہوتا ہے کہ اللہ پر ایمان لے آؤاور رسول کے ساتھ جہاد کرو تو ان ہی کے صاحبانِ حیثیت آپ سے اجازت طلب کرنے لگتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں کہ ہمیں ان ہی بیٹھنے والوں کے ساتھ چھوڑ دیجئے۔

They preferred to be with those who remained behind, and a seal is set on their hearts so they do not understand.

یہ اس بات پر راضی ہیں کہ پیچھے رہ جانے والوں کے ساتھ رہ جائیں، ان کے دلوں پر مہر لگ گئی ہے اب یہ کچھ سمجھنے والے نہیں ہیں۔

But the Apostle and those who believe with him strive hard with their property and their persons; and these it is who shall have the good things and these it is who shall be successful.

لیکن رسول اور ان کے ساتھ ایمان لانے والوں نے راہِ خدا میں اپنے جان و مال سے جہاد کیا ہے اور ان ہی کے لئے نیکیاں ہیں اور وہی فلاح یافتہ اور کامیاب ہیں۔

Allah has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them; that is the great achievement.

اللہ نے ان کے لئے وہ باغات مہیا کئے ہیں جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہیں اور وہ ان ہی میں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں اور یہی بہت بڑی کامیابی ہے۔

And the defaulters from among the dwellers of the desert came that permission may be given to them and they sat (at home) who lied to Allah and His Apostle; a painful chastisement shall afflict those of them who disbelieved.

اور آپ کے پاس دیہاتی معذرت کرنے والے بھی آگئے کہ انہیں بھی گھر بیٹھنے کی اجازت دے دی جائے اور وہ بھی بیٹھ رہے جنہوں نے خدا و رسول سے غلط بیانی کی تھی تو عنقریب ان میں کے کافروں پر بھی دردناک عذاب نازل ہوگا۔

It shall be no crime in the weak, nor in the sick, nor in those who do not find what they should spend (to stay behind), so long as they are sincere to Allah and His Apostle; there is no way (to blame) against the doers of good; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful;

جو لوگ کمزور ہیں یابیمار ہیں یا ان کے پاس راہِ خدا میں خرچ کرنے کے لئے کچھ نہیں ہے ان کے بیٹھے رہنے میں کوئی حرج نہیں ہے بشرطیکہ خدا و رسول کے حق میں اخلاص رکھتے ہوں کہ نیک کردار لوگوں پر کوئی الزام نہیں ہوتا اور اللہ بہت بخشنے والا مہربان ہے۔

Nor in those who when they came to you that you might carry them, you said: I cannot find that on which to carry you; they went back while their eyes overflowed with tears on account of grief for not finding that which they should spend.

اور ان پر بھی کوئی الزام نہیں ہے جو آپ کے پاس آئے کہ انہیں بھی سواری پر لے لیجئے اور آپ ہی نے کہہ دیا کہ ہمارے پاس سواری کا انتظام نہیں ہے اور وہ آپ کے پاس سے اس عالم میں پلٹے کہ ان کی آنکھوں سے آنسو جاری تھے اور انہیں اس بات کا رنج تھا کہ ان کے پاس راہِ خدا میں خرچ کرنے کے لئے کچھ نہیں ہے۔

The way (to blame) is only against those who ask permission of you though they are rich; they have chosen to be with those who remained behind, and Allah has set a seal upon their hearts so they do not know.

الزام ان لوگوں پرہے جو غنی اور مالدار ہوکر بھی اجازت طلب کرتے ہیں اور چاہتے ہیں کہ پسماندہ لوگوں میں شامل ہوجائیں اور خدا نے ان کے دلوں پر مہرلگادی ہے اور اب کچھ جاننے والے نہیں ہیں۔

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
