Juz 13 (Sipara)جز (سیپارہ)-۱۳

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

And I do not declare myself free, most surely (man’s) self is wont to command (him to do) evil, except such as my Lord has had mercy on, surely my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.

اور میں اپنے نفس کو بھی بری نہیں قرار دیتا کہ نفس بہرحال برائیوں کا حکم دینے والا ہے مگر یہ کہ میرا پروردگار رحم کرے کہ وہ بڑا بخشنے والا مہربان ہے۔

And the king said: Bring him to me, I will choose him for myself. So when he had spoken with him, he said: Surely you are in our presence today an honorable, a faithful one.

اور بادشاہ نے کہا کہ ذرا انہیں لے آؤ میں اپنے ذاتی امور میں ساتھ رکھوں گا اس کے بعد جب ان سے بات کی تو کہا کہ تم آج سے ہمارے دربار میں باوقار امین کی حیثیت سے رہو گے۔

He said: Place me (in authority) over the treasures of the land, surely I am a good keeper, knowing well.

یوسفؑ نے کہا کہ مجھے زمین کے خزانوں پر مقرر کردو کہ میں محافظ بھی ہوں اور صاحبِ علم بھی۔

And thus did We give to Yusuf power in the land- he had mastery in it wherever he liked; We send down Our mercy on whom We please, and We do not waste the reward of those who do good.

اور اس طرح ہم نے یوسفؑ کو زمین میں اختیار دے دیا کہ وہ جہاں چاہیں رہیں۔ ہم اپنی رحمت سے جس کو بھی چاہتے ہیں مرتبہ دے دیتے ہیں اور کسی نیک کردار کے اجر کو ضائع نہیں کرتے۔

And certainly the reward of the hereafter is much better for those who believe and guard (against evil).

اور آخرت کا اجر تو ان لوگوں کے لئے بہترین ہے جو صاحبانِ ایمان ہیں اور خدا سے ڈرنے والے ہیں۔

And Yusuf’s brothers came and went into him, and he knew them, while they did not recognize him.

اور جب یوسفؑ کے بھائی مصر آئے اور یوسفؑ کے پاس پہنچے تو انہوں نے سب کو پہچان لیا اور وہ لوگ نہیں پہچان سکے۔

And when he furnished them with their provision, he said: Bring to me a brother of yours from your father; do you not see that I give full measure and that I am the best of hosts?

پھر جب ان کا سامان تیار کردیا تو ان سے کہا کہ تمہارا ایک بھائی اور بھی ہے اسے بھی لے آؤ کیا تم نہیں دیکھتے ہو کہ میں سامان کی ناپ تول بھی برابر رکھتا ہوں اور مہمان نوازی بھی کرنے والا ہوں۔

But if you do not bring him to me, you shall have no measure (of corn) from me, nor shall you come near me.

اب اگر اسے نہ لے آئے تو آئندہ تمہیں بھی غلہ نہ دوں گا اور نہ میرے پاس آنے پاؤ گے۔

They said: We will strive to make his father yield in respect of him, and we are sure to do (it).

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ ہم اس کے باپ سے بات چیت کریں گے اور ضرور کریں گے۔

And he said to his servants: Put their money into their bags that they may recognize it when they go back to their family, so that they may come back.

اور یوسفؑ نے اپنے جوانوں سے کہا کہ ان کی پونجی بھی ان کے سامان میں رکھ دو شاید جب گھر پلٹ کر جائیں تو اسے پہچان لیں اور اس طرح شاید دوبارہ پلٹ کر ضرور آئیں۔

So when they returned to their father, they said: O our father, the measure is withheld from us, therefore send with us our brother, (so that) we may get the measure, and we will most surely guard him.

اب جو پلٹ کر باپ کی خدمت میں آئے اور کہا کہ بابا جان آئندہ ہمیں غلہ سے روک دیا گیا ہے لہذا ہمارے ساتھ ہمارے بھائی کو بھی بھیج دیجئے تاکہ ہم غلہ حاصل کرلیں اور اب ہم اس کی حفاظت کے ذمہ دار ہیں۔

He said: I cannot trust in you with respect to him, except as I trusted in you with respect to his brother before; but Allah is the best Keeper, and He is the most Merciful of the merciful ones.

یعقوبؑ نے کہا کہ ہم اس کے بارے میں تمہارے اوپر اسی طرح بھروسہ کریں جس طرح پہلے اس کے بھائی یوسفؑ کے بارے میں کیا تھا۔ خیر خدا بہترین حفاظت کرنے والا ہے اور وہی سب سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

And when they opened their goods, they found their money returned to them. They said: O our father! what (more) can we desire? This is our property returned to us, and we will bring corn for our family and guard our brother, and will have in addition the measure of a camel (load); this is an easy measure.

پھر جب ان لوگوں نے اپنا سامان کھولا تو دیکھا کہ ان کی بضاعت (قیمت) واپس کردی گئی ہے تو کہنے لگے بابا جان اب ہم کیا چاہتے ہیں یہ ہماری پونجی بھی واپس کردی گئی ہے اب ہم اپنے گھر والوں کے لئے غلّہ ضرور لائیں گے اور اپنے بھائی کی حفاظت بھی کریں گے اور ایک اونٹ کا بار اور بڑھوالیں گے کہ یہ بات اس کی موجودگی میں آسان ہے۔

He said: I will by no means send him with you until you give me a firm covenant in Allah’s name that you will most certainly bring him back to me, unless you are completely surrounded. And when they gave him their covenant, he said: Allah is the One in Whom trust is placed as regards what we say.

یعقوبؑ نے کہا کہ میں اسے ہرگز تمہارے ساتھ نہ بھیجوں گا جب تک کہ خدا کی طرف سے عہد نہ کرو گے کہ اسے واپس ضرور لاؤ گے مگر یہ کہ تم ہی کو گھیر لیا جائے۔ اس کے بعد جب ان لوگوں نے عہد کرلیا تو یعقوبؑ نے کہا کہ اللہ ہم لوگوں کے قول و قرار کا نگراں اور ضامن ہے۔

And he said: O my sons ! do not (all) enter by one gate and enter by different gates and I cannot avail you aught against Allah; judgment is only Allah’s; on Him do I rely, and on Him let those who are reliant rely.

اور پھر کہا کہ میرے فرزندو دیکھو سب ایک دروازے سے داخل نہ ہونا اور متفرق دروازوں سے داخل ہونا کہ میں خدا کی طرف سے آنے والی بلاؤں میں تمہارے کام نہیں آسکتا حکم صرف اللہ کے ہاتھ میں ہے اور اسی پر میرا اعتماد ہے اور اسی پر سارے توکل کرنے والوں کو بھروسہ کرنا چاہئے۔

And when they had entered as their father had bidden them, it did not avail them aught against Allah, but (it was only) a desire in the soul of Yaqoub which he satisfied; and surely he was possessed of knowledge because We had given him knowledge, but most people do not know.

اور جب وہ لوگ اسی طرح داخل ہوئے جس طرح ان کے والد نے کہا تھا اگرچہ وہ خدائی بلا کو ٹال نہیں سکتے تھے لیکن یہ ایک خواہش تھی جو یعقوبؑ کے دل میں پیدا ہوئی جسے انہوں نے پورا کرلیا اور وہ ہمارے دئیے ہوئے علم کی بنا پر صاحبِ علم بھی تھے اگرچہ اکثر لوگ اس حقیقت سے بھی ناواقف ہیں۔

And when they went in to Yusuf, he lodged his brother with himself, saying: I am your brother, therefore grieve not at what they do.

اور جب وہ لوگ یوسفؑ کے سامنے حاضر ہوئے تو انہوں نے اپنے بھائی کو اپنے پاس پناہ دی اور کہا کہ میں تمہارا بھائی یوسف ہوں لہذا جو برتاؤ یہ لوگ کرتے رہے ہیں اب اس کی طرف سے رنج نہ کرنا۔

So when he furnished them with their provisions, (someone) placed the drinking cup in his brother’s bag. Then a crier cried out: O caravan! you are most surely thieves.

اس کے بعد جب یوسفؑ نے ان کا سامان تیار کرادیا تو پیالہ کو اپنے بھائی کے سامان میں رکھوادیا اس کے بعد منادی نے آواز دی کہ قافلے والو تم سب چور ہو۔

They said while they were facing them: What is it that you miss?

ان لوگوں نے مڑ کر دیکھا اور کہا کہ آخر تمہاری کیا چیز گم ہوگئی ہے۔

They said: We miss the king’s drinking cup, and he who shall bring it shall have a camel-load and I am responsible for it.

ملازمین نے کہا کہ بادشاہ کا پیالہ نہیں مل رہا ہے اور جو اسے لے کر آئے گا اسے ایک اونٹ کا بار غلہ انعام ملے گا اور میں اس کا ذمہ دار ہوں۔

They said: By Allah! you know for certain that we have not come to make mischief in the land, and we are not thieves.

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ خدا کی قسم تمہیں تو معلوم ہے کہ ہم زمین میں فساد کرنے کے لئے نہیں آئے ہیں اور نہ ہم چور ہیں۔

They said: But what shall be the requital of this, if you are liars?

ملازموں نے کہا کہ اگر تم جھوٹے ثابت ہوئے تو اس کی سزا کیا ہے۔

They said: The requital of this is that the person in whose bag it is found shall himself be (held for) the satisfaction thereof; thus do we punish the wrongdoers.

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ اس کی سزا خود وہ شخص ہے جس کے سامان میں سے پیالہ برآمد ہو ہم اسی طرح ظلم کرنے والوں کو سزادیتے ہیں۔

So he began with their sacks before the sack of his brother, then he brought it out from his brother’s sack. Thus did We plan for the sake of Yusuf; it was not (lawful) that he should take his brother under the king’s law unless Allah pleased; We raise the degrees of whomsoever We please, and above everyone possessed of knowledge is the All-knowing one.

اس کے بعد بھائی کے سامان سے پہلے دوسرے بھائیوں کے سامان کی تلاشی لی اور آخر میں بھائی کے سامان میں سے پیالہ نکال لیا، اور اس طرح ہم نے یوسفؑ کے حق میں تدبیر کی کہ وہ بادشاہ کے قانون سے اپنے بھائی کو نہیں لے سکتے تھے مگر یہ کہ خدا خود چاہے ہم جس کو چاہتے ہیں اس کے درجات کو بلند کردیتے ہیں اور ہر صاحبِ علم سے برتر ایک صاحبِ علم ہوتا ہے۔

They said: If he steal, a brother of his did indeed steal before; but Yusuf kept it secret in his heart and did not disclose it to them. He said: You are in an evil condition and Allah knows best what you state.

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ اگر اس نے چوری کی ہے تو کیا تعجب ہے اس کا بھائی اس سے پہلے چوری کرچکا ہے۔ یوسفؑ نے اس بات کو اپنے دل میں چُھپالیا اور ان پر اظہار نہیں کیا، کہاکہ تم بڑے برے لوگ ہو اور اللہ تمہارے بیانات کے بارے میں زیادہ بہتر جاننے والا ہے۔

They said: O chief! he has a father, a very old man, therefore retain one of us in his stead; surely we see you to be of the doers of good.

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ اے عزیز مصر اس کے والد بہت ضعیف العمر ہیں لہذا ہم میں سے کسی ایک کو اس کی جگہ پر لے لیجئے اور اسے چھوڑ دیجئے کہ ہم آپ کو احسان کرنے والا سمجھتے ہیں۔

He said: Allah protect us that we should seize other than him with whom we found our property, for then most surely we would be unjust.

یوسفؑ نے کہا کہ خدا کی پناہ کہ ہم جس کے پاس اپنا سامان پائیں اس کے علاوہ کسی دوسرے کو گرفت میں لے لیں اور اس طرح ظالم ہوجائیں۔

Then when they despaired of him, they retired, conferring privately together. The eldest of them said: Do you not know that your father took from you a covenant in Allah’s name, and how you fell short of your duty with respect to Yusuf before? Therefore I will by no means depart from this land until my father permits me or Allah decides for me, and He is the best of the judges:

اب جب وہ لوگ یوسفؑ کی طرف سے مایوس ہوگئے تو الگ جاکر مشورہ کرنے لگے تو سب سے بڑے نے کہا کہ کیا تمہیں نہیں معلوم کہ تمہارے باپ نے تم سے خدائی عہد لیا ہے اور اس سے پہلے بھی تم یوسفؑ کے بارے میں کوتاہی کرچُکے ہو تو اب میں تو اس سرزمین کو نہ چھوڑوں گا یہاں تک کہ والد محترم اجازت دے دیں یا خدا میرے حق میں کوئی فیصلہ کردے کہ وہ بہترین فیصلہ کرنے والا ہے۔

Go back to your father and say: O our father! surely your son committed theft, and we do not bear witness except to what we have known, and we could not keep watch over the unseen:

ہاں تم لوگ باپ کی خدمت میں جاؤ اور عرض کرو کہ آپ کے فرزند نے چوری کی ہے اور ہم اسی بات کی گواہی دے رہے ہیں جس کا ہمیں علم ہے اور ہم غیب کی حفاظت کرنے والے نہیں ہیں۔

And inquire in the town in which we were and the caravan with which we proceeded, and most surely we are truthful.

آپ اس بستی سے دریافت کرلیں جس میں ہم تھے اور اس قافلے سے پوچھ لیں جس میں ہم آئے ہیں اور ہم بالکل سچےّ ہیں۔

He (Yaqoub) said: Nay, your souls have made a matter light for you, so patience is good; maybe Allah will bring them all together to me; surely He is the Knowing, the Wise.

یعقوبؑ نے کہا کہ یہ تمہارے دل نے ایک نئی بات گڑھ لی ہے میں پھر بھی صبرجمیل اختیار کروں گا کہ شائد خدا ان سب کو لے آئے کہ وہ ہر شئے کا جاننے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

And he turned away from them, and said: O my sorrow for Yusuf! and his eyes became white on account of the grief, and he was a repressor (of grief).

یہ کہہ کر انہوں نے سب سے منہ پھیر لیا اور کہا کہ افسوس ہے یوسف کے حال پر اوراتناروئے کہ آنکھیں سفیدہو گئیں اور غم کے گھونٹ پیتے رہے۔

They said: By Allah! you will not cease to remember Yusuf until you are a prey to constant disease or (until) you are of those who perish.

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ آپ اسی طرح یوسفؑ کویاد کرتے رہیں گے یہاں تک کہ بیمار ہوجائیں یا ہلاک ہونے والوںمیں شامل ہو جائیں۔

He said: I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know.

یعقوبؑ نے کہا کہ میں اپنے حزن و غم اور اپنی بےقراری کی فریاد اللہ کی بارگاہ میں کر رہا ہوں اور اس کی طرف سے وہ سب جانتا ہوں جو تم نہیں جانتے ہو۔

O my sons! Go and inquire respecting Yusuf and his brother, and despair not of Allah’s mercy; surely none despairs of Allah’s mercy except the unbelieving people.

میرے فرزندو جاؤ یوسفؑ اور ان کے بھائی کو خوب تلاش کرو اور رحمتِ خدا سے مایوس نہ ہونا کہ اس کی رحمت سے کافر قوم کے علاوہ کوئی مایوس نہیں ہوتا ہے۔

So when they came into him, they said: O chief! distress has afflicted us and our family and we have brought scanty money, so give us full measure and be charitable to us; surely Allah rewards the charitable.

اب جو وہ لوگ دوبارہ یوسفؑ کے پاس گئے تو کہنے لگے کہ اے عزیز ہم کو اور ہمارے گھر والوں کو بڑی تکلیف ہے اور ہم ایک حقیر سی پونجی لے کر آئے ہیں آپ ہمیں پورا پورا غلہ دے دیں اور ہم پر احسان کریں کہ خدا کارِخیر کرنے والوں کو جزائے خیر دیتا ہے۔

He said: Do you know how you treated Yusuf and his brother when you were ignorant?

اس نے کہا کہ تمہیں معلوم ہے کہ تم نے یوسفؑ اور ان کے بھائی کے ساتھ کیا برتاؤ کیا ہے جب کہ تم بالکل جاہل تھے۔

They said: Are you indeed Yusuf? He said: I am Yusuf and this is my brother; Allah has indeed been gracious to us; surely he who guards (against evil) and is patient (is rewarded) for surely Allah does not waste the reward of those who do good.

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ کیا آپ ہی یوسفؑ ہیں؟انہوں نے کہا کہ بےشک میں یوسفؑ ہوں اور یہ میرا بھائی ہے۔ اللہ نے ہمارے اوپر احسان کیا ہے اور جو کوئی بھی تقویٰ اور صبر اختیار کرتاہے اللہ نیک عمل کرنے والوں کے اجر کو ضائع نہیں کرتا ہے۔

They said: By Allah! now has Allah certainly chosen you over us, and we were certainly sinners.

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ خدا کی قسم خدا نے آپ کو فضیلت اور امتیاز عطا کیا ہے اور ہم سب خطاکار تھے۔

He said: (There shall be) no reproof against you this day; Allah may forgive you, and He is the most Merciful of the merciful.

یوسفؑ نے کہا کہ آج تمہارے اوپر کوئی الزام نہیں ہے، خدا تمہیں معاف کردے گا کہ وہ بڑا رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Take this my shirt and cast it on my father’s face, he will (again) be able to see, and come to me with all your families.

جاؤ میری قمیض لے کر جاؤ اور بابا کے چہرہ پر ڈال دو کہ ان کی بصارت پلٹ آئے گی اور اس مرتبہ اپنے تمام گھر والوں کو ساتھ لے کر آنا۔

And when the caravan had departed, their father said: Most surely I perceive the greatness of Yusuf, unless you pronounce me to be weak in judgment.

اب جو قافلہ مصر سے روانہ ہوا تو ان کے پدر بزرگوار نے کہا کہ میں یوسفؑ کی خوشبو محسوس کررہا ہوں اگر تم لوگ مجھے سٹھیایا ہوا نہ کہو۔

They said: By Allah, you are most surely in your old error.

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ خدا کی قسم آپ ابھی تک اپنی پرانی گمراہی میں مبتلا ہیں۔

So when the bearer of good news came he cast it on his face, so forthwith he regained his sight. He said: Did I not say to you that I know from Allah what you do not know?

اس کے بعد جب بشیر نے آکر قمیض کو یعقوبؑ کے چہرہ پر ڈال دیا تو دوبارہ صاحبِ بصارت ہوگئے اور انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے تم سے نہ کہا تھا کہ میں خدا کی طرف سے وہ جانتا ہوں جو تم نہیں جانتے ہو۔

They said: O our father! ask forgiveness of our faults for us, surely we were sinners.

ان لوگوں نے کہا بابا جان اب آپ ہمارے گناہوں کے لئے استغفار کریں ہم یقینًا خطاکار تھے۔

He said: I will ask for you forgiveness from my Lord; surely He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

انہوں نے کہا کہ میں عنقریب تمہارے حق میں استغفار کروں گا کہ میرا پروردگار بہت بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

Then when they came in to Yusuf, he took his parents to lodge with him and said: Enter safe into Egypt, if Allah please.

اس کے بعد جب وہ لوگ سب یوسفؑ کے یہاں حاضر ہوئے تو انہوں نے ماں باپ کو اپنے پہلو میں جگہ دی اور کہا کہ آپ لوگ مصر میں انشاء اللہ بڑے اطمینان و سکون کے ساتھ داخل ہوں۔

And he raised his parents upon the throne and they fell down in prostration before him, and he said: O my father! this is the significance of my vision of old; my Lord has indeed made it to be true; and He was indeed kind to me when He brought me forth from the prison and brought you from the desert after the Shaitan had sown dissensions between me and my brothers, surely my Lord is benignant to whom He pleases; surely He is the Knowing, the Wise.

اور انہوں نے والدین کو بلند مقام پر تخت پر جگہ دی اور سب لوگ یوسفؑ کے سامنے سجدہ میں گر پڑے یوسفؑ نے کہا کہ بابا یہ میرے پہلے خواب کی تعبیر ہے جسے میرے پروردگار نے سچ کر دکھایا ہے اور اس نے میرے ساتھ احسان کیا ہے کہ مجھے قید خانہ سے نکال لیا اور آپ لوگوں کو گاؤں سے نکال کر مصر میں لے آیا جب کہ شیطان میرے اور میرے بھائیوں کے درمیان فساد پیدا کرچکا تھا۔ بےشک میرا پروردگار اپنے ارادوں کی بہترین تدبیر کرنے والا اور صاحبِ علم اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

My Lord! Thou hast given me of the kingdom and taught me of the interpretation of sayings: Originator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my guardian in this world and the hereafter; make me die a muslim and join me with the good.

پروردگار تو نے مجھے ملک بھی عطا کیا اور خوابوں کی تعبیر کا علم بھی دیا۔ تو زمین و آسمان کا پیدا کرنے والا ہے اور دنیا وآخرت میں میرا ولی اور سرپرست ہے مجھے دنیا سے فرمانبردار اٹھانا اور صالحین سے ملحق کردینا۔

This is of the announcements relating to the unseen (which) We reveal to you, and you were not with them when they resolved upon their affair, and they were devising plans.

پیغمبر! یہ سب غیب کی خبریں ہیں جنہیں ہم وحی کے ذریعہ آپ تک پہنچا رہے ہیں ورنہ آپ تو اس وقت نہ تھے جب وہ لوگ اپنے کام پر اتفاق کررہے تھے اور یوسفؑ کے بارے میں بری تدبیریں کررہے تھے۔

And most men will not believe though you desire it eagerly.

اور آپ کس قدر کیوں نہ چاہیں انسانوں کی اکثریت ایمان لانے والی نہیں ہے۔

And you do not ask them for a reward for this; it is nothing but a reminder for all mankind.

اور آپ ان سے تبلیغ رسالت کی اجرت تو نہیں مانگتے ہیں یہ قرآن تو عالمین کے لئے ایک ذکر اور نصیحت ہے۔

And how many a sign in the heavens and the earth which they pass by, yet they turn aside from it.

اور زمین و آسمان میں بہت سی نشانیاں ہیں جن سے لوگ گزر جاتے ہیں اور کنارہ کش ہی رہتے ہیں۔

And most of them do not believe in Allah without associating others (with Him).

اور ان میں کی اکثریت خدا پر ایمان بھی لاتی ہے تو شرک کے ساتھ۔

Do they then feel secure that there may come to them an extensive chastisement from Allah or (that) the hour may come to them suddenly while they do not perceive?

تو کیا یہ لوگ اس بات کی طرف سے مطمئن ہوگئے ہیں کہ کہیں ان پر عذابِ الٰہی آکر چھاجائے یا اچانک قیامت آجائے اور یہ غافل ہی رہ جائیں۔

Say: This is my way: I call to Allah, I and those who follow me being certain, and glory be to Allah, and I am not one of the polytheists.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ یہی میرا راستہ ہے کہ میں بصیرت کے ساتھ خدا کی طرف دعوت دیتا ہوں اور میرے ساتھ میرا اتباع کرنے والا بھی ہے اور خدا پاک و بے نیازہے اور میں مشرکین میں سے نہیں ہوں۔

And We have not sent before you but men from (among) the people of the towns, to whom We sent revelations. Have they not then travelled in the land and seen what was the end of those before them? And certainly the abode of the hereafter is best for those who guard (against evil); do you not then understand?

اور ہم نے آپ سے پہلے ان ہی مردوں کو رسول بنایا ہے جو آبادیوں میں رہنے والے تھے اور ہم نے ان کی طرف وحی بھی کی ہے تو کیا یہ لوگ زمین میں سیر نہیں کرتے کہ دیکھیں کہ ان سے پہلے والوں کا انجام کیا ہوا ہے اور دارِ آخرت صرف صاحبانِ تقویٰ کے لئے بہترین منزل ہے۔ کیا تم لوگ عقل سے کام نہیں لیتے ہو۔

Until when the apostles despaired and the people became sure that they were indeed told a lie, Our help came to them and whom We pleased was delivered; and Our punishment is not averted from the guilty people.

یہاں تک کہ جب ان کے انکار سے مرسلین مایوس ہونے لگے اور ان لوگوں نے سمجھ لیاکہ ان سے جھوٹا وعدہ کیا گیا ہے تو ہماری مدد مرسلین کے پاس آگئی اور ہم نے جن لوگوں کو چاہا انہیں نجات دے دی اور ہمارا عذاب مجرم قوم سے پلٹایا نہیں جاسکتا ہے۔

In their histories there is certainly a lesson for men of understanding. It is not a narrative which could be forged, but a verification of what is before it and a distinct explanation of all things and a guide and a mercy to a people who believe.

یقینًا ان کے واقعات میں صاحبانِ عقل کے لئے سامانِ عبرت ہے اور یہ کوئی ایسی بات نہیں ہے جسے گڑھ لیا جائے یہ قرآن پہلے کی تمام کتابوں کی تصدیق کرنے والا ہے اور اس میں ہر شے کی تفصیل ہے اور یہ صاحبِ ایمان قوم کے لئے ہدایت اور رحمت بھی ہے۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Alif Lam Mim Ra. These are the verses of the Book; and that which is revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, but most people do not believe.

المر۔ یہ کتابِ خدا کی آیتیں ہیں اور جو کچھ بھی آپ کے پروردگار کی طرف سے نازل کیا گیا ہے وہ سب برحق ہے لیکن لوگوں کی اکثریت ایمان لانے والی نہیں ہے۔

Allah is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you see, and He is firm in power and He made the sun and the moon subservient (to you); each one pursues its course to an appointed time; He regulates the affair, making clear the signs that you may be certain of meeting your Lord.

اللہ ہی وہ ہے جس نے آسمانوں کو بغیر کسی ستون کے بلند کردیا ہے جیسا کہ تم دیکھ رہے ہو اس کے بعد اس نے عرش پر اقتدار قائم کیا اور آفتاب و ماہتاب کو مُسخّر بنایا کہ سب ایک معینہ مدّت تک چلتے رہیں گے وہی تمام امور کی تدبیر کرنے والا ہے اور اپنی آیات کو مفصل طور سے بیان کرتا ہے کہ شاید تم لوگ پروردگار کی ملاقات کا یقین پیدا کرلو۔

And He it is Who spread the earth and made in it firm mountains and rivers, and of all fruits He has made in it two kinds; He makes the night cover the day; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.

وہ خدا وہ ہے جس نے زمین کو پھیلایا اور اس میں اٹل قسم کے پہاڑ قرار دئیے اور نہریں جاری کیں اور ہر پھل کا جوڑا قرار دیا وہ رات کے پردے سے دن کو ڈھانک دیتا ہے اور اس میں صاحبانِ فکر و نظر کے لئے بڑی نشانیاں پائی جاتی ہیں۔

And in the earth there are tracts side by side and gardens of grapes and corn and palm trees having one root and (others) having distinct roots- they are watered with one water, and We make some of them excel others in fruit; most surely there are signs in this for a people who understand.

اور زمین کے متعدد ٹکڑے آپس میں ایک دوسرے سے ملے ہوئے ہیں اور انگور کے باغات ہیں اور زراعت ہے اور کھجوریں ہیں جن میں بعض دو شاخ کی ہیں اور بعض ایک شاخ کی ہیں اور سب ایک ہی پانی سے سینچے جاتے ہیں اور ہم بعض کو بعض پر کھانے میں ترجیح دیتے ہیں اور اس میں بھی صاحبانِ عقل کے لئے بڑی نشانیاں پائی جاتی ہیں۔

And if you would wonder, then wondrous is their saying: What! when we are dust, shall we then certainly be in a new creation? These are they who disbelieve in their Lord, and these have chains on their necks, and they are the inmates of the fire; in it they shall abide.

اور اگر تمہیں کسی بات پر تعجّب ہے تو تعجّب کی بات ان لوگوں کا یہ قول ہے کہ کیا ہم خاک ہوجانے کے بعد بھی نئے سرے سے دوبارہ پیدا کئے جائیں گے، یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے اپنے پروردگار کا انکار کیا ہے اور ان ہی کی گردنوں میں طوق ڈالے جائیں گے اور یہی اہلِ جہّنم ہیں اور اسی میں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں۔

And they ask you to hasten on the evil before the good, and indeed there have been exemplary punishments before them; and most surely your Lord is the Lord of forgiveness to people, notwithstanding their injustice; and most surely your Lord is severe in requiting (evil).

اور اے رسول یہ لوگ آپ سے بھلائی سے پہلے ہی برائی (عذاب) چاہتے ہیں جب کہ ان کے پہلے بہت سی عذاب کی نظیریں گزر چکی ہیں اور آپ کا پروردگار لوگوں کے لئے ان کے ظلم پر بخشنے والا بھی ہے اور بہت سخت عذاب کرنے والا بھی ہے۔

And those who disbelieve say: Why has not a sign been sent down upon him from his Lord? You are only a warner and (there is) a guide for every people.

اور یہ کافر کہتے ہیں کہ ان کے اوپر کوئی نشانی (ہماری مطلوبہ) کیوں نہیں نازل ہوتی تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ میں صرف ڈرانے والا ہوں اور ہر قوم کے لئے ایک ہادی اور رہبر ہے۔

Allah knows what every female bears, and that of which the wombs fall short of completion and that in which they increase; and there is a measure with Him of everything.

اللہ بہتر جانتا ہے کہ ہر عورت کے شکم میں کیا ہے اور اس کے رحم میں کیا کمی اور زیادتی ہوتی رہتی ہے اور ہر شے کی اس کے نزدیک ایک مقدار معین ہے۔

The knower of the unseen and the seen, the Great, the Most High.

وہ غائب و حاضر سب کا جاننے والا بزرگ و بالاتر ہے۔

Alike (to Him) among you is he who conceals (his) words and he who speaks them openly, and he who hides himself by night and (who) goes forth by day.

اس کے نزدیک تم میں کے سب برابر ہیں جو بات آہستہ کہے اور جو بلند آواز سے کہے اور جو رات میں چھپارہے اور دن میں چلتا رہے۔

For his sake there are angels following one another, before him and behind him, who guard him by Allah’s commandment; surely Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change their own condition; and when Allah intends evil to a people, there is no averting it, and besides Him they have no protector.

اس کے لئے سامنے اور پیچھے سے محافظ طاقتیں ہیں جو حکمِ خدا سے اس کی حفاظت کرتی ہیں اور خدا کسی قوم کے حالات کو اس وقت تک نہیں بدلتا جب تک وہ خود اپنے کو تبدیل نہ کرلے اور جب خدا کسی قوم پر عذاب کا ارادہ کرلیتا ہے تو کوئی ٹال نہیں سکتا ہے اور نہ اس کے علاوہ کوئی کسی کا والی و سرپرست ہے۔

He it is Who shows you the lightning causing fear and hope and (Who) brings up the heavy cloud.

وہی خدا ہے جو تمہیں ڈرانے اور لالچ دلانے کے لئے بجلیاں دکھاتا ہے اور پانی سے لدے ہوئے بوجھل بادل ایجاد کرتا ہے۔

And the thunder declares His glory with His praise, and the angels too for awe of Him; and He sends the thunderbolts and smites with them whom He pleases, yet they dispute concerning Allah, and He is mighty in prowess.

گرج اس کی حمد کی تسبیح کرتی ہے اور فرشتے اس کے خوف سے حمد و ثنا کرتے رہتے ہیں اور بجلیوں کو بھیجتا ہے تو جس تک چاہتا ہے پہنچا دیتا ہے اور یہ لوگ اللہ کے بارے میں کج بحثی کررہے ہیں جب کہ وہ بہت مضبوط قوت اور عظیم طاقت والا ہے۔

To Him is due the true prayer; and those whom they pray to besides Allah give them no answer, but (they are) like one who stretches forth his two hands towards water that it may reach his mouth, but it will not reach it; and the prayer of the unbelievers is only in error.

برحق پکارنا صرف خدا ہی کا پکارنا ہے اور جو لوگ اس کے علاوہ دوسروں کو پکارتے ہیں وہ ان کی کوئی بات قبول نہیں کرسکتے سوائے اس شخص کے مانند جو پانی کی طرف ہتھیلی پھیلائے ہو کہ منہ تک پہنچ جائے اور وہ پہنچنے والا نہیں ہے اور کافروں کی دعا ہمیشہ گمراہی میں رہتی ہے۔

And whoever is in the heavens and the earth makes obeisance to Allah only, willingly and unwillingly, and their shadows too at morn and eve.

اللہ ہی کے لئے زمین و آسمان والے ہنسی خوشی یا زبردستی سجدہ کررہے ہیں اور صبح و شام ان کے سائے بھی سجدہ کناں ہیں۔

Say: Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?- Say: Allah. Say: Do you take then besides Him guardians who do not control any profit or harm for themselves? Say: Are the blind and the seeing alike? Or can the darkness and the light be equal? Or have they set up with Allah associates who have created creation like His, so that what is created became confused to them? Say: Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Supreme.

پیغمبر کہہ دیجئے کہ بتاؤ کہ زمین و آسمان کا پروردگار کون ہے اور بتادیجئے کہ اللہ ہی ہے اور کہہ دیجئے کہ تم لوگوں نے اس کو چھوڑ کر ایسے سرپرست اختیار کئے ہیں جو خود اپنے نفع و نقصان کے مالک نہیں ہیں اور کہئے کہ کیا اندھے اور بینا ایک جیسے ہوسکتے ہیں یا نورو ظلمت برابر ہوسکتے ہیں یا ان لوگوں نے اللہ کے لئے ایسے شریک بنائے ہیں جنہوں نے اسی کی طرح کی کائنات خلق کی ہے اور ان پر خلقت مشتبہ ہوگئی ہے، کہہ دیجئے کہ اللہ ہی ہر شے کا خالق ہے اور وہی یکتا اور سب پر غالب ہے۔

He sends down water from the cloud, then watercourses flow (with water) according to their measure, and the torrent bears along the swelling foam, and from what they melt in the fire for the sake of making ornaments or apparatus arises a scum like it; thus does Allah compare truth and falsehood; then as for the scum, it passes away as a worthless thing; and as for that which profits the people, it tarries in the earth; thus does Allah set forth parables.

اس نے آسمان سے پانی برسایا تو وادیوں میں بقدر ظرف بہنے لگا اور سیلاب میں جوش کھا کر جھاگ آگیا اور اس دھات سے بھی جھاگ پیدا ہوگیا جسے آگ پر زیور یا کوئی دوسرا سامان بنانے کے لئے پگھلاتے ہیں، اسی طرح پروردگار حق و باطل کی مثال بیان کرتا ہے کہ جھاگ خشک ہوکر فنا ہوجاتا ہے اور جو لوگوں کو فائدہ پہنچانے والا ہے وہ زمین میں باقی رہ جاتا ہے اور خدا اسی طرح مثالیں بیان کرتا ہے۔

For those who respond to their Lord is good; and (as for) those who do not respond to Him, had they all that is in the earth and the like thereof with it they would certainly offer it for a ransom. (As for) those, an evil reckoning shall be theirs and their abode is hell, and evil is the resting-place.

جو لوگ پروردگار کی بات کو قبول کرلیتے ہیں ان کے لئے نیکی ہے اور جو اس کی بات کو قبول نہیں کرتے انہیں زمین کے سارے خزانے بھی مل جائیں اور اسی قدر اور بھی مل جائے تو یہ بطور فدیہ دے دیں گے لیکن ان کے لئے بدترین حساب ہے اور ان کا ٹھکانا جہنّم ہے اور وہ بہت برا ٹھکانا ہے۔

Is he then who knows that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth like him who is blind? Only those possessed of understanding will mind

کیا وہ شخص جو یہ جانتا ہے کہ جو کچھ آپ کے پروردگار کی طرف سے نازل ہوا سب برحق ہے وہ اس کے جیسا ہوسکتا ہے جو بالکل اندھا ہے (ہرگز نہیں) اس بات کو صرف صاحبانِ عقل ہی سمجھ سکتے ہیں۔

Those who fulfil the promise of Allah and do not break the covenant

جو عہد خدا کو پورا کرتے ہیں اور عہد شکنی نہیں کرتے ہیں۔

And those who join that which Allah has bidden to be joined and have awe of their Lord and fear the evil reckoning.

اور جو ان تعلقات کو قائم رکھتے ہیں جنہیں خدا نے قائم رکھنے کا حکم دیا ہے اور اس سے ڈرتے رہتے ہیں اور بدترین حساب سے خوف زدہ رہتے ہیں۔

And those who are constant, seeking the pleasure of their Lord, and keep up prayer and spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them secretly and openly and repel evil with good; as for those, they shall have the (happy) issue of the abode.

اور جنہوں نے مرضیِ خدا حاصل کرنے کے لئے صبر کیا ہے اور نماز قائم کی ہے اور ہمارے رزق میں سے خفیہ و علانیہ انفاق کیا ہے اور جو نیکی کے ذریعہ برائی کو دفع کرتے رہتے ہیں آخرت کا گھر ان ہی کے لئے ہے۔

The gardens of perpetual abode which they will enter along with those who do good from among their parents and their spouses and their offspring; and the angels will enter in upon them from every gate:

یہ ہمیشہ رہنے والے باغات ہیں جن میں یہ خود اور ان کے آباء و اجداد اور ازواج و اولاد میں سے سارے نیک بندے داخل ہوں گے اور ملائکہ ان کے پاس ہر دروازے سے حاضری دیں گے۔

Peace be on you because you were constant, how excellent, is then, the issue of the abode.

کہیں گے کہ تم پر سلامتی ہو کہ تم نے صبر کیا ہے اور اب آخرت کا گھر تمہاری بہترین منزل ہے۔

And those who break the covenant of Allah after its confirmation and cut asunder that which Allah has ordered to be joined and make mischief in the land; (as for) those, upon them shall be curse and they shall have the evil (issue) of the abode.

اور جو لوگ عہدِ خدا کو توڑ دیتے ہیں اور جن سے تعلقات کا حکم دیا گیا ہے ان سے قطع تعلقات کرلیتے ہیں اور زمین میں فساد برپا کرتے ہیں ان کے لئے لعنت اور بدترین گھر ہے۔

Allah amplifies and straitens the means of subsistence for whom He pleases; and they rejoice in this world’s life, and this world’s life is nothing compared with the hereafter but a temporary enjoyment.

اللہ جس کے لئے چاہتا ہے رزق کو وسیع یا تنگ کردیتا ہے اور یہ لوگ صرف زندگانی دنیا پر خوش ہوگئے ہیں حالانکہ آخرت کے مقابلہ میں زندگانی دنیا صرف ایک وقتی لذّت کا درجہ رکھتی ہے اور بس۔

And those who disbelieve say: Why is not a sign sent down upon him by his Lord? Say: Surely Allah makes him who will go astray, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).

اور یہ کافر کہتے ہیں کہ ان کے اوپر ہماری پسند کی نشانی کیوں نہیں نازل ہوتی تو پیغمبر کہہ دیجئے کہ اللہ جس کو چاہتا ہے گمراہی میں چھوڑ دیتا ہے اور جو اس کی طرف متوجہ ہوجاتے ہیں انہیں ہدایت دے دیتا ہے۔

Those who believe and whose hearts are set at rest by the remembrance of Allah; now surely by Allah’s remembrance are the hearts set at rest.

یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جو ایمان لائے ہیں اور ان کے دلوں کو یادِ خدا سے اطمینان حاصل ہوتا ہے اور آگاہ ہوجاؤ کہ اطمینان یادِ خدا سے ہی حاصل ہوتا ہے۔

(As for) those who believe and do good, a good final state shall be theirs and a goodly return.

جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور انہوں نے نیک اعمال کئے ان کے لئے بہترین جگہ (بہشت) اور بہترین بازگشت ہے۔

And thus We have sent you among a nation before which other nations have passed away, that you might recite to them what We have revealed to you and (still) they deny the Beneficent God. Say: He is my Lord, there is no god but He; on Him do I rely and to Him is my return.

اسی طرح ہم نے آپ کو ایک ایسی قوم کے درمیان بھیجا ہے جس سے پہلے بہت سی قومیں گزر چکی ہیں تاکہ آپ ان چیزوں کی تلاوت کریں جنہیں ہم نے آپ کی طرف بذریعہ وحی نازل کیا ہے حالانکہ وہ لوگ رحمان کا انکار کرنے والے ہیں آپ ان سے کہئے کہ وہ میرا رب ہے اور اس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے اسی پر میرا اعتماد ہے اور اسی کی طرف بازگشت ہے۔

And even if there were a Quran with which the mountains were made to pass away, or the earth were travelled over with it, or the dead were made to speak thereby; nay! the commandment is wholly Allah’s. Have not yet those who believe known that if Allah please He would certainly guide all the people? And (as for) those who disbelieve, there will not cease to afflict them because of what they do a repelling calamity, or it will alight close by their abodes, until the promise of Allah comes about; surely Allah will not fail in (His) promise.

اور اگر کوئی قرآن ایسا ہو جس سے پہاڑوں کو اپنی جگہ سے چلایا جاسکے یا زمین طے کی جاسکے یا مردوں سے کلام کیا جاسکے، تو وہ یہی قرآن ہے۔ بلکہ تمام امور اللہ کے لئے ہیں تو کیا ایمان والوں پر واضح نہیں ہوا کہ اگر خدا جبرًا چاہتا تو سارے انسانوں کو ہدایت دے دیتا اور ان کافروں پر ان کے کرتوت کی بنا پر ہمیشہ کوئی نہ کوئی مصیبت پڑتی رہے گی یا ان کے دیار کے آس پاس مصیبت آتی رہے گی یہاں تک کہ وعدہِ الٰہی کا وقت آجائے کہ اللہ اپنے وعدہ کے خلاف نہیں کرتا ہے۔

And apostles before you were certainly mocked at, but I gave respite to those who disbelieved, then I destroyed them; how then was My requital (of evil)?

پیغمبر آپ سے پہلے بہت سے رسولوں کا مذاق اڑایا گیا ہے تو ہم نے کافروں کو تھوڑی دیر کی مہلت دیدی اور اس کے بعد اپنی گرفت میں لے لیا تو کیسا سخت عذاب ہوا۔

Is He then Who watches every soul as to what it earns? And yet they give associates to Allah! Say: Give them a name; nay, do you mean to inform Him of what He does not know in the earth, or (do you affirm this) by an outward saying? Rather, their plans are made to appear fair-seeming to those who disbelieve, and they are kept back from the path; and whom Allah makes err, he shall have no guide.

کیا وہ ذات جو ہر نفس کے اعمال کی نگراں ہے اور انہوں نے اس کے لئے شریک فرض کرلئے ہیں تو کہئے کہ ذرا شرکاء کے نام تو بتاؤ تم خدا کو ان شرکاء کی خبر دے رہے ہو جن کی ساری زمین میں اسے بھی خبر نہیں ہے یا فقط یہ ظاہری الفاظ ہیں اور سچ تو یہ ہے کہ کافروں کے لئے ان کا مکر آراستہ ہوگیا ہے اور انہیں راہِ حق سے روک دیا گیا ہے اور جسے خدا ہدایت نہ دے اس کا کوئی ہدایت کرنے والا نہیں ہے۔

They shall have chastisement in this world’s life, and the chastisement of the hereafter is certainly more grievous, and they shall have no protector against Allah.

ان کے لئے زندگانی دنیا میں بھی عذاب ہے اور آخرت کا عذاب تو اور زیادہ سخت ہے اور پھر اللہ سے بچانے والا کوئی نہیں ہے۔

A likeness of the garden which the righteous are promised; there flow beneath it rivers, its food and shades are perpetual; this is the requital of those who guarded (against evil), and the requital of the unbelievers is the fire.

جس جنت کا صاحبانِ تقویٰ سے وعدہ کیا گیا ہے اس کی مثال یہ ہے کہ اس کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہوں گی اور اس کے پھل دائمی ہوں گے اور سایہ بھی ہمیشہ رہے گا۔ یہ صاحبانِ تقویٰ کی عاقبت ہے اور کفار کا انجام کار بہرحال جہنّم ہے۔

And those to whom We have given the Book rejoice in that which has been revealed to you, and of the confederates are some who deny a part of it. Say: I am only commanded that I should serve Allah and not associate anything with Him, to Him do I invite (you) and to Him is my return.

اور جن لوگوں کو ہم نے کتاب دی ہے وہ اس تنزیل سے خوش ہیں اور بعض گروہ وہ ہیں جو بعض باتوں کا انکار کرتے ہیں تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ مجھے یہ حکم دیا گیا ہے کہ میں اللہ کی عبادت کروں اور کسی کو اس کا شریک نہ بناؤں میں اسی کی طرف دعوت دیتا ہوں اور اسی کی طرف سب کی بازگشت ہے۔

And thus have We revealed it, a true judgment in Arabic, and if you follow their low desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you shall not have against Allah any guardian or a protector.

اور اسی طرح ہم نے اس قرآن کو عربی زبان کا فرمان بناکر نازل کیا ہے اور اگر آپ علم کے آجانے کے بعد ان کی خواہشات کا اتباع کرلیں گے تو اللہ کے مقابلے میں کوئی کسی کا سرپرست اور بچانے والا نہ ہوگا۔

And certainly We sent apostles before you and gave them wives and children, and it is not in (the power of) an apostle to bring a sign except by Allah’s permission; for every term there is an appointment.

ہم نے آپ سے پہلے بھی بہت سے رسول بھیجے ہیں اور ان کے لئے ازواج اور اولاد قرار دی ہے اور کسی رسول کے لئے یہ ممکن نہیں ہے وہ اللہ کی اجازت کے بغیر کوئی نشانی لے آئے کہ ہر مدّت اور معیاد کے لئے ایک نوشتہ مقرر ہے۔

Allah makes to pass away and establishes what He pleases, and with Him is the basis of the Book.

اللہ جس چیز کو چاہتا ہے مٹادیتا ہے یا برقرار رکھتا ہے کہ اصل کتاب اسی کے پاس ہے۔

And We will either let you see part of what We threaten them with or cause you to die, for only the delivery of the message is (incumbent) on you, while calling (them) to account is Our (business).

اور اے پیغمبر ہم کفار سے کئے وعدہ عذاب کو تمہیں دکھلادیں یا تمہیں اٹھالیں تمہارا کام تو صرف احکام کا پہنچا دینا ہے حساب کی ذمہ داری ہماری اپنی ہے۔

Do they not see that We are bringing destruction upon the land by curtailing it of its sides? And Allah pronounces a doom- there is no repeller of His decree, and He is swift to take account.

کیا ان لوگوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ ہم کس طرح زمین کی طرف آکر اس کو اطراف سے کم کردیتے ہیں اور اللہ ہی حکم دینے والا ہے کوئی اس کے حکم کا ٹالنے والا نہیں ہے اور وہ بہت تیز حساب کرنے والا ہے۔

And those before them did indeed make plans, but all planning is Allah’s; He knows what every soul earns, and the unbelievers shall come to know for whom is the (better) issue of the abode.

اور ان کے پہلے والوں نے بھی مکر کیا ہے لیکن ساری تدبیریں اللہ ہی کے اختیار میں ہیں وہ ہر نفس کے کاروبار کو جانتا ہے اور عنقریب کفار بھی جان لیں گے کہ آخرت کا گھر کس کے لئے ہے۔

And those who disbelieve say: You are not a messenger. Say: Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you and whoever has knowledge of the Book.

اور یہ کافر کہتے ہیں کہ آپ رسول نہیں ہیں کہہ دیجئے کہ ہمارے اور تمہارے درمیان رسالت کی گواہی کے لئے خدا کافی ہے اور وہ شخص کافی ہے جس کے پاس پوری کتاب کا علم ہے۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Alif Lam Ra. (This is) a Book which We have revealed to you that you may bring forth men, by their Lord’s permission from utter darkness into light- to the way of the Mighty, the Praised One

الر۔ یہ کتاب ہے جسے ہم نے آپ کی طرف نازل کیا ہے تاکہ آپ لوگوں کو حکمِ خدا سے تاریکیوں سے نکال کر نور کی طرف لے آئیں اور خدائے عزیز و حمید کے راستے پر لگادیں۔

(Of) Allah, Whose is whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth; and woe to the unbelievers on account of the severe chastisement

وہ اللہ وہ ہے جس کے لئے زمین و آسمان کی ہر شے ہے اور کافروں کے لئے تو سخت ترین اور افسوس ناک عذاب ہے۔

(To) those who love this world’s life more than the hereafter, and turn away from Allah’s path and desire to make it crooked; these are in a great error.

وہ لوگ جو زندگانی دنیا کو آخرت کے مقابلے میں پسند کرتے ہیں اور لوگوں کو راہِ خدا سے روکتے ہیں اور اس میں کجی پیدا کرنا چاہتے ہیں یہ گمراہی میں بہت دور تک چلے گئے ہیں۔

And We did not send any apostle but with the language of his people, so that he might explain to them clearly; then Allah makes whom He pleases err and He guides whom He pleases and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

اور ہم نے جس رسول کو بھی بھیجا اسی کی قوم کی زبان کے ساتھ بھیجا تاکہ وہ لوگوں پر باتوں کو واضح کرسکے اس کے بعد خدا جس کو چاہتا ہے گمراہی میں چھوڑ دیتا ہے اور جس کو چاہتا ہے ہدایت دے دیتا ہے وہ صاحبِ عزّت بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی۔

And certainly We sent Musa with Our communications, saying: Bring forth your people from utter darkness into light and remind them of the days of Allah; most surely there are signs in this for every patient, grateful one.

اور ہم نے موسٰیؑ کو اپنی نشانیوں کے ساتھ بھیجا کہ اپنی قوم کو ظلمتوں سے نور کی طرف نکال کر لائیں اور انہیں خدائی دنوں کی یاد دلائیں کہ بےشک اس میں تمام صبر کرنے والے اور شکر کرنے والے کے لئے بہت سی نشانیاں پائی جاتی ہیں۔

And when Musa said to his people: Call to mind Allah’s favor to you when He delivered you from Firon’s people, who subjected you to severe torment, and slew your sons and spared your women; and in this there was a great trial from your Lord.

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب موسٰیؑ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ تم لوگ اللہ کی اس نعمت کو یاد کرو کہ اس نے تمہیں فرعون والوں سے نجات دلائی جب کہ وہ بدترین عذاب میں مبتلا کررہے تھے کہ تمہارے لڑکوں کو ذبح کررہے تھے اور تمہاری لڑکیوں کو (کنیزی کے لئے) زندہ رکھتے تھے اور اس میں تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف سے بڑا سخت امتحان تھا۔

And when your Lord made it known: If you are grateful, I would certainly give to you more, and if you are ungrateful, My chastisement is truly severe.

اور جب تمہارے پروردگار نے اعلان کیا کہ اگر تم ہمارا شکریہ ادا کرو گے تو ہم نعمتوں میں اضافہ کردیں گے اور اگر کفرانِ نعمت کرو گے تو ہمارا عذاب بھی بہت سخت ہے۔

And Musa said: If you are ungrateful, you and those on earth all together, most surely Allah is Self-sufficient, Praised;

اور موسٰیؑ نے یہ بھی کہہ دیا کہ اگر تم سب اور روئے زمین کے تمام بسنے والے بھی کافر ہوجائیں تو ہمارا اللہ سب سے بے نیاز ہے اور وہ قابل حمد و ستائش ہے۔

Has not the account reached you of those before you, of the people of Nuh and Ad and Samood, and those after them? None knows them but Allah. Their apostles came to them with clear arguments, but they thrust their hands into their mouths and said: Surely we deny that with which you are sent, and most surely we are in serious doubt as to that to which you invite us.

کیا تمہارے پاس اپنے سے پہلے والوں قوم نوحؑ اور قوم عاد و ثمود اور جو ان کے بعد گزرے ہیں اور جنہیں خدا کے علاوہ کوئی نہیں جانتا ہے کی خبر نہیں آئی ہے کہ ان کے پاس اللہ کے رسول معجزات لے کر آئے اور انہوں نے ان کے ہاتھوں کو ان ہی کے منہ کی طرف پلٹا دیا اور صاف کہہ دیا کہ ہم تمہارے لائے ہوئے پیغام کے منکر ہیں اور ہمیں اس بات کے بارے میں واضح شک ہے جس کی طرف تم ہمیں دعوت دے رہے ہو۔

Their apostles said: Is there doubt about Allah, the Maker of the heavens and the earth? He invites you to forgive you your faults and to respite you till an appointed term. They said: You are nothing but mortals like us; you wish to turn us away from what our fathers used to worship; bring us therefore some clear authority.

تو رسولوں نے کہا کہ کیا تمہیں اللہ کے بارے میں بھی شک ہے جو زمین و آسمان کا پیدا کرنے والا ہے اور تمہیں اس لئے بلاتا ہے کہ تمہارے گناہوں کو معاف کردے اور ایک معینہ مدّت تک زمین میں چین سے رہنے دے، تو ان لوگوں نے جواب دیا کہ تم سب بھی ہمارے ہی جیسے بشر ہو اور چاہتے ہو کہ ہمیں ان چیزوں سے روک دو جن کی ہمارے باپ دادا عبادت کیا کرتے تھے تو اب کوئی کھلی ہوئی دلیل لے آؤ۔

Their apostles said to them: We are nothing but mortals like yourselves, but Allah bestows (His) favors on whom He pleases of His servants, and it is not for us that we should bring you an authority except by Allah’s permission; and on Allah should the believers rely.

ان سے رسولوں نے کہا کہ یقینًا ہم تمہارے ہی جیسے بشر ہیں لیکن خدا جس بندے پر چاہتا ہے مخصوص احسان بھی کرتا ہے اور ہمارے اختیار میں یہ بھی نہیں ہے کہ ہم بلااذنِ خدا کوئی دلیل یا معجزہ لے آئیں اور صاحبانِ ایمان تو صرف اللہ ہی پر بھروسہ کرتے ہیں۔

And what reason have we that we should not rely on Allah? And He has indeed guided us in our ways; and certainly we would bear with patience your persecution of us; and on Allah should the reliant rely.

اور ہم کیوں نہ اللہ پر بھروسہ کریں جب کہ اسی نے ہمیں ہمارے راستوں کی ہدایت دی ہے اور ہم یقینًا تمہاری اذیتوں پر صبر کریں گے اور بھروسہ کرنے والے تو اللہ ہی پر بھروسہ کرتے ہیں۔

And those who disbelieved said to their apostles: We will most certainly drive you forth from our land, or else you shall come back into our religion. So their Lord revealed to them: Most certainly We will destroy the unjust.

اور کافروں نے اپنے رسولوں سے کہا کہ ہم تم کو اپنی سرزمین سے نکال باہر کردیں گے یا تم ہمارے مذہب کی طرف پلٹ آؤ گے تو پروردگار نے ان کی طرف وحی کی کہ خبردار گھبراؤ نہیں ہم یقینًا ظالمین کو تباہ و برباد کردیں گے۔

And most certainly We will settle you in the land after them; this is for him who fears standing in My presence and who fears My threat.

اور تمہیں ان کے بعد زمین میں آباد کردیں گے اور یہ سب ان لوگوں کے لئے ہے جو ہمارے مقام اور مرتبہ سے ڈرتے ہیں اور ہمارے عذاب کا خوف رکھتے ہیں۔

And they asked for judgment and every insolent opposer was disappointed:

اور پیغمبروں نے ہم سے فتح کا مطالبہ کیا اور ان سے عناد (دشمنی) رکھنے والے سرکش افراد ذلیل اور رسوا ہوگئے۔

Hell is before him and he shall be given to drink of festering water:

ان کے پیچھے جہنّم ہے اور انہیں پیپ دار پانی پلایا جائے گا۔

He will drink it little by little and will not be able to swallow it agreeably, and death will come to him from every quarter, but he shall not die; and there shall be vehement chastisement before him.

جسے گھونٹ گھونٹ پئیں گے اور وہ انہیں گوارا نہ ہوگا اور انہیں موت ہر طرف سے گھیر لے گی حالانکہ وہ مرنے والے نہیں ہیں اور ان کے پیچھے بہت سخت عذاب لگا ہوا ہے۔

The parable of those who disbelieve in their Lord: their actions are like ashes on which the wind blows hard on a stormy day; they shall not have power over anything out of what they have earned; this is the great error.

جن لوگوں نے اپنے پروردگار کا انکار کیا ان کے اعمال کی مثال اس راکھ کی ہے جسے اندھڑ کے دن کی تند ہوا اڑا لے جائے کہ وہ اپنے حاصل کئے ہوئے پر بھی کوئی اختیار نہ رکھیں گے اور یہی بہت دور تک پھیلی ہوئی گمراہی ہے۔

Do you not see that Allah created the heavens and the earth with truth? If He please He will take you off and bring a new creation

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ اللہ نے زمین اور آسمانوں کو برحق پیدا کیا ہے وہ چاہے تو تم کو فنا کرکے ایک نئی مخلوق کو لاسکتا ہے۔

And this is not difficult for Allah.

اور اللہ کے لئے یہ بات کوئی مشکل نہیں ہے۔

And they shall all come forth before Allah, then the weak shall say to those who were proud: Surely we were your followers, can you therefore avert from us any part of the chastisement of Allah? They would say: If Allah had guided us, we too would have guided you; it is the same to us whether we are impatient (now) or patient, there is no place for us to fly to.

اور قیامت کے دن سب اللہ کے سامنے حاضر ہوں گے تو کمزور لوگ مستکبرین سے کہیں گے کہ ہم تو آپ کے پیروکار تھے تو کیا آپ عذابِ الٰہی کے مقابلہ میں ہمارے کچھ کام آسکتے ہیں تو وہ جواب دیں گے کہ اگر خدا ہمیں ہدایت دے دیتا تو ہم بھی تمہیں ہدایت دے دیتے۔ اب تو ہمارے لئے سب ہی برابر ہے چاہے فریاد کریں یا صبر کریں کہ اب کوئی چھٹکارا ملنے والا نہیں ہے۔

And the Shaitan shall say after the affair is decided: Surely Allah promised you the promise of truth, and I gave you promises, then failed to keep them to you, and I had no authority over you, except that I called you and you obeyed me, therefore do not blame me but blame yourselves: I cannot be your aider (now) nor can you be my aiders; surely I disbelieved in your associating me with Allah before; surely it is the unjust that shall have the painful punishment.

اور شیطان تمام امور کا فیصلہ ہوجانے کے بعد کہے گا کہ اللہ نے تم سے بالکل برحق وعدہ کیا تھا اور میں نے بھی ایک وعدہ کیا تھا پھر میں نے اپنے وعدہ کی مخالفت کی اور میرا تمہارے اوپر کوئی زور بھی نہیں تھا سوائے اس کے کہ میں نے تمہیں دعوت دی اور تم نے اسے قبول کرلیا تو اب تم میری ملامت نہ کرو بلکہ اپنے نفس کی ملامت کرو کہ نہ میں تمہاری فریاد رسی کرسکتا ہوں نہ تم میری فریاد کو پہنچ سکتے ہو میں تو پہلے ہی سے اس بات سے بیزار ہوں کہ تم نے مجھے اس کا شریک بنا دیا اور بےشک ظالمین کے لئے بہت بڑا دردناک عذاب ہے۔

And those who believe and do good are made to enter gardens, beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them by their Lord’s permission; their greeting therein is, Peace.

اور صاحبانِ ایمان و عمل صالح کو ان جنتوں میں داخل کیا جائے گا جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہوں گی وہ ہمیشہ حکمِ خدا سے وہیں رہیں گے اور ان کی ملاقات کا تحفہ سلام ہوگا۔

Have you not considered how Allah sets forth a parable of a good word (being) like a good tree, whose root is firm and whose branches are in heaven

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ اللہ نے کس طرح کلمہ طیبہ کی مثال شجرہ طیبہ سے بیان کی ہے جس کی اصل ثابت ہے اور اس کی شاخ آسمان تک پہنچی ہوئی ہے۔

Yielding its fruit in every season by the permission of its Lord? And Allah sets forth parables for men that they may be mindful.

یہ شجرہ ہر زمانہ میں حکم پروردگار سے پھل دیتا رہتا ہے اور خدا لوگوں کے لئے مثال بیان کرتا ہے کہ شاید اسی طرح ہوش میں آجائیں۔

And the parable of an evil word is as an evil tree pulled up from the earth’s surface; it has no stability.

اور کلمہ خبیثہ کی مثال اس شجرہ خبیثہ کی ہے جو زمین کے اوپر ہی سے اکھاڑ کر پھینک دیا جائے اور اس کی کوئی بنیاد نہ ہو۔

Allah confirms those who believe with the sure word in this world’s life and in the hereafter, and Allah causes the unjust to go astray, and Allah does what He pleases.

اللہ صاحبانِ ایمان کو قول ثابت کے ذریعہ دنیا اور آخرت میں ثابت قدم رکھتا ہے اور ظالمین کو گمراہی میں چھوڑ دیتا ہے اور وہ جو بھی چاہتا ہے انجام دیتا ہے۔

Have you not seen those who have changed Allah’s favor for ungratefulness and made their people to alight into the abode of perdition

کیا تم نے ان لوگوں کو نہیں دیکھا جنہوں نے اللہ کی نعمت کو کفرانِ نعمت سے تبدیل کردیا اور اپنی قوم کو ہلاکت کی منزل تک پہنچادیا۔

(Into) hell? They shall enter into it and an evil place it is to settle in.

وہ جہنّم جس میں سب واصل ہوں گے اور وہ بدترین قرار گاہ ہے۔

And they set up equals with Allah that they may lead (people) astray from His path. Say: Enjoy yourselves, for surely your return is to the fire.

اور ان لوگوں نے اللہ کے لئے مثل قرار دیئے تاکہ اس کے ذریعہ لوگوں کو بہکا سکیں تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تھوڑے دن اور مزے کرلو پھر تو تمہارا انجام جہنّم ہی ہے۔

Say to My servants who believe that they should keep up prayer and spend out of what We have given them secretly and openly before the coming of the day in which there shall be no bartering nor mutual befriending.

اور آپ میرے ایماندار بندوں سے کہہ دیجئے کہ نمازیں قائم کریں اور ہمارے رزق میں سے خفیہ اور علانیہ ہماری راہ میں انفاق کریں قبل اس کے کہ وہ دن آجائے جب نہ تجارت کام آئے گی اور نہ دوستی۔

Allah is He Who created the heavens and the earth and sent down water from the clouds, then brought forth with it fruits as a sustenance for you, and He has made the ships subservient to you, that they might run their course in the sea by His command, and He has made the rivers subservient to you.

اللہ ہی وہ ہے جس نے آسمان و زمین کو پیدا کیا ہے اور آسمان سے پانی برسا کر اس کے ذریعہ تمہاری روزی کے لئے پھل پیدا کئے ہیں اور کشتیوں کو مسخر کردیا ہے کہ سمندر میں اس کے حکم سے چلیں اور تمہارے لئے نہروں کو بھی مسخر کردیا ہے۔

And He has made subservient to you the sun and the moon pursuing their courses, and He has made subservient to you the night and the day.

اور تمہارے لئے حرکت کرنے والے آفتاب و ماہتاب کو بھی مسخر کردیا ہے اور تمہارے لئے رات اور دن کو بھی مسخر کردیا ہے۔

And He gives you of all that you ask Him; and if you count Allah’s favors, you will not be able to number them; most surely man is very unjust, very ungrateful.

اور جو کچھ تم نے مانگا اس میں سے کچھ نہ کچھ ضرور دیا اور اگر تم اس کی نعمتوں کو شمار کرنا چاہو گے تو ہرگز شمار نہیں کرسکتے۔ بےشک انسان بڑا ظالم اور انکار کرنے والا ہے۔

And when Ibrahim said: My Lord! make this city secure, and save me and my sons from worshipping idols:

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب ابراہیمؑ نے کہا کہ پروردگار اس شہر کو محفوظ بنادے اور مجھے اور میری اولاد کو بت پرستی سے بچائے رکھنا۔

My Lord! surely they have led many men astray; then whoever follows me, he is surely of me, and whoever disobeys me, Thou surely art Forgiving, Merciful:

پروردگار ان بتوں نے بہت سے لوگوں کو گمراہ کردیا ہے تو اب جو میرا اتباع کرے گا وہ مجھ سے ہوگا اور جو معصیت کرے گا اس کے لئے تو بڑا بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

O our Lord! surely I have settled a part of my offspring in a valley unproductive of fruit near Thy Sacred House, our Lord! that they may keep up prayer; therefore make the hearts of some people yearn towards them and provide them with fruits; haply they may be grateful:

پروردگار میں نے اپنی ذریت میں سے بعض کو تیرے محترم مکان کے قریب بے آب و گیاہ وادی میں چھوڑ دیا ہے تاکہ نمازیں قائم کریں اب تو لوگوں کے دلوں کو ان کی طرف موڑ دے اور انہیں پھلوں کا رزق عطا فرما تاکہ وہ تیرے شکر گزار بندے بن جائیں۔

O our Lord! Surely Thou knowest what we hide and what we make public, and nothing in the earth nor any thing in heaven is hidden from Allah:

پروردگار ہم جس بات کا اعلان کرتے ہیں یا جس کو چھپاتے ہیں تو سب سے باخبر ہے اور اللہ پر زمین و آسمان میں کوئی چیز مخفی نہیں رہ سکتی۔

Praise be to Allah, Who has given me in old age Ismail and Ishaq; most surely my Lord is the Hearer of prayer:

شکر ہے اس خدا کا جس نے مجھے بڑھاپے میں اسماعیل و اسحاق جیسی اولاد عطا کی ہے کہ بےشک میرا پروردگار دعاؤں کا سننے والا ہے۔

My Lord! make me keep up prayer and from my offspring (too), O our Lord, and accept my prayer:

پروردگار مجھے اور میری ذریت میں نماز قائم کرنے والے قرار دے اور پروردگار میری دعا کو قبول کرلے۔

O our Lord! grant me protection and my parents and the believers on the day when the reckoning shall come to pass!

پروردگار مجھے اور میرے والدین کو اور تمام مومنین کو اس دن بخش دینا جس دن حساب قائم ہوگا۔

And do not think Allah to be heedless of what the unjust do; He only respites them to a day on which the eyes shall be fixedly open

اور خبردار خدا کو ظالمین کے اعمال سے غافل نہ سمجھ لینا کہ وہ انہیں اس دن کے لئے مہلت دے رہا ہے جس دن آنکھیں خوف سے پتھرا جائیں گی۔

Hastening forward, their heads upraised, their eyes not reverting to them and their hearts vacant.

سر اٹھائے بھاگے چلے جارہے ہوں گے اور پلکیں بھی نہ پلٹتی ہوں گی اور ان کے دل دہشت سے ہوا ہورہے ہوں گے۔

And warn people of the day when the chastisement shall come to them, then those who were unjust will say: O our Lord! respite us to a near term, (so) we shall respond to Thy call and follow the apostles. What! did you not swear before (that) there will be no passing away for you!

اور آپ لوگوں کو اس دن سے ڈرائیں جس دن ان تک عذاب آجائے گا تو ظالمین کہیں گے کہ پروردگار ہمیں تھوڑی مدّت کے لئے پلٹا دے کہ ہم تیری دعوت کو قبول کرلیں اور تیرے رسولوں کا اتباع کرلیں تو جواب ملے گا کہ کیا تم نے اس سے پہلے قسم نہیں کھائی تھی کہ تمہیں کسی طرح کا زوال نہ ہوگا۔

And you dwell in the abodes of those who were unjust to themselves, and it is clear to you how We dealt with them and We have made (them) examples to you.

اور تم تو ان ہی لوگوں کے مکانات میں ساکن تھے جنہوں نے اپنے اوپر ظلم کیا تھا اور تم پر واضح تھا کہ ہم نے ان کے ساتھ کیا برتاؤ کیا ہے اور ہم نے تمہارے لئے مثالیں بھی بیان کردی تھیں۔

And they have indeed planned their plan, but their plan is with Allah, though their plan was such that the mountains should pass away thereby.

اور ان لوگوں نے اپنا سارا مکر صرف کردیا اور خدا کی نگاہ میں ان کا سارا مکر ہے اگرچہ ان کا مکر ایسا تھا کہ اس سے پہاڑ بھی اپنی جگہ سے ہٹ جائیں۔

Therefore do not think Allah (to be one) failing in His promise to His apostles; surely Allah is Mighty, the Lord of Retribution.

تو خبردار تم یہ خیال بھی نہ کرنا کہ خدا اپنے رسولوں سے کئے ہوئے وعدہ کی خلاف ورزی کرے گا اللہ سب پر غالب اور بڑا انتقام لینے والا ہے۔

On the day when the earth shall be changed into a different earth, and the heavens (as well), and they shall come forth before Allah, the One, the Supreme.

اس دن جب زمین دوسری زمین میں تبدیل ہوجائے گی اور آسمان بھی بدل دیئے جائیں گے اور سب خدائے واحد و قہار کے سامنے پیش ہوں گے۔

And you will see the guilty on that day linked together in chains.

اور تم اس دن مجرمین کو دیکھو گے کہ کس طرح زنجیروں میں جکڑے ہوئے ہیں۔

Their shirts made of pitch and the fire covering their faces.

ان کے لباس قطران کے ہوں گے اور ان کے چہروں کو آگ ہر طرف سے ڈھانکے ہوئے ہوگی۔

That Allah may requite each soul (according to) what it has earned; surely Allah is swift in reckoning.

تاکہ خدا ہر نفس کو اس کے کئے کا بدلہ دے دے کہ وہ بہت جلد حساب کرنے والا ہے۔

This is a sufficient exposition for the people and that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is One God and that those possessed of understanding may mind.

بےشک یہ قرآن لوگوں کے لئے ایک پیغام ہے تاکہ اسی کے ذریعہ انہیں ڈرایا جائے اور انہیں معلوم ہوجائے کہ خدا ہی خدائے واحد و یکتا ہے اور پھر صاحبانِ عقل نصیحت حاصل کرلیں۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear.

الر۔ یہ کتابِ خدا اور قرآنِ مبین کی آیات ہیں۔

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
