Imam Reza (a)'s Tomb
گنبد امام رضا (ع)
It is located beneath the Golden Dome. The Golden Dome is the most prominent symbol of the city of Mashhad with an altitude of 31.20 meters and surrounded by different porches each bearing a separate name. The skilled artists have done their best in the creation of this place. It is square in shape and some 135 sq. meters have been added to its area after extension works. The walls are covered by marble up to 20 cm. and the next 92 cm. are covered by expensive tiles known as Sultan Sanjari tiles. Quranic verses and Ahadees of the Ahelul Bait (a) have been carved on these tiles. The important inscription written round the walls is eighty centimeters wide and written by Ali Reza Abbasi, the famous calligraphist of the Safavid period and bears Surah Jumah of the Holy Quran.
امام رضاؑ کی ضریح مقدس سنہرے گنبد کے نیچے واقع ہے۔ یہ سنہرہ گنبد شہر کی شان ہے اور ۳۱٫۲۰ میٹر کی ارتفاع پر ہے، یہ گنبد اطراف میں ایوان و صحن سے گھرا ہوا ہے اور ہر ایک کا اپنا نام ہے۔ ماہر معماروں نے اپنی تمام تر فنی صلاحیتیں اس پر صرف کیں ہیں۔ یہ چوکور ہے اور توسیعی کام کے بعد اس کے رقبے میں ۱۳۵ مربع میٹر کا اضافہ کیا گیا ہے۔ سنگِ مرمر کی دیواریں ۲۰ سینٹی میٹر کی ہیں اور بقیہ ۹۲ سینٹی میٹر بیش قیمت اور مشہور سلطان سنجاری ٹائل لگائی گئی ہیں۔ قرآنی آیات اور احادیث اہل بیتؑ سے ان ٹائلوں کو مزیّن کیا گیا ہے۔ سب سے اہم خطاطی جو دیواروں پر ۸۰ سینٹی میٹر کی چوڑائی میں کی گئی ہے، وہ مشہور خطاط علی رضا عباسی کی ہے جو صفوی دور میں تھے اور اس پر سورہ جمعہ لکھا گیا ہے۔
