People of the Graves
اہلِ قبور
The salam given to the people of the graves on entering Wadi al-Salam, the great burial ground at Najaf.
It is built almost entirely out of one sentence repeated — la ilaha illallah — so that the greeting, the ones greeted, the thing asked about and the thing asked for are all the same words. Peace be upon the people of "there is no god but Allah", from the people of "there is no god but Allah"; O people of it, by it, how did you find the testimony of it?
It closes by asking forgiveness for whoever professed it, and to be counted among those who profess it with what the Shia tradition adds: Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, Ali is the wali of Allah.
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی اَهْلِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ، مِنْ اَهْلِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ، یَا اَهْلَ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ، بِحَقِّ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ، كَیْفَ وَجَدْتُمْ قَوْلَ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ، مِنْ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ، یَا لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ، بِحَقِّ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ، اِغْفِرْ لِمَنْ قَالَ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ، وَاحْشُرْنَا فِیْ زُمْرَۃِ مَنْ قَالَ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدُ رَّسُوْلُ اللهِ عَلِیٌّ وَلِیُّ اللهِ۔
As-salaamo a’laa ahle laa elaaha illallaaho min ahle laa elaaha illallaaho be haqqe laa elaaha illallaaho kayfa wajadtun qawla laa elaaha illallaaho min laa elaaha illallaaho yaa laa elaahaa illallaaho be haqqe laa elaaha illallaaho ighfir leman qaala laa elaaha ilallaaho wahshurnaa fee zumrate man qaala laa elaaha illallaaho mohammadun rasoolullaahe a’liyyun waliyyullaah.
Peace be upon the people who believe "There is no God except Allah" from the people who believe "There is no God except Allah" O people who believe "There is no God except Allah" for the sake of "There is no God except Allah" how did you find the testimony "There is no God except Allah"? from "There is no God except Allah" O the One "There is no God except Allah" for the sake of "There is no God except Allah" forgive the one who professed " There is no God except Allah". And include us amongst the one who professed "There is no God except Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, Ali is the wali of Allah"
خدا کے نام سے شروع جو رحم والا مہربان ہے سلام ہو لا الہ الا اللہ پڑھنے والوں پر، ان کا جو لا الہ الا اللہ پڑھتے ہیں، اے لا الہ الا اللہ پر ایمان رکھنے والوں لا الہ الا اللہ کے حق کے واسطے ہمیں بتاؤ کہ تم نے عقیدۂ لا الہ الا اللہ کیسے پایا؟کلمۂ لا الہ الا اللہ سے اے لا الہ الا اللہ والی ذات بحق لا الہ الا اللہ کے بخش دے ان کو جنہوں نے لا الہ الا اللہ پڑھااور محشور کر ہمیں اس گروہ میں جنہوں نے لا الہ الا اﷲمحمد رسول اﷲعلی ولی اﷲپڑھا۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allahumma swalle alaa muhammadiw wa aale muhammadin
Allah’s (s.w.t) choicest blessings be upon Mohammed and his holy progeny.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔
