About this day
This night programme marks the eve of the shahadat of Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (a), who died in 148 AH. Programming the eve follows the practice of one community rather than a general Twelver convention; because the Islamic day begins at maghrib it falls on the evening before the twenty-fifth of Shawwal, and some calendars print it as the twenty-fourth. Earlier Shia scholars gave only the month, and the twenty-fifth is the view of later sources.
