Hijri months begin by moon sighting, not by calculation. A date marked expected is the calculated one and may move by a day when the Centre confirms the month.
About this day
Ramadan begins with the sighting of the new moon, so a date printed ahead of time is an expectation and not yet the confirmed day. The maraji do not all establish the month in the same way, and the announcements followed in Australia split by one day for 1447. The Centre confirms the start of each month once it is announced, rather than printing a fixed date well in advance.
Communities differ on this
The Centre’s congregation includes Indian, Pakistani, Irani, Hazara, Iraqi and Afghan families, and they do not all keep this on the same day. The date above is the one the Centre observes; it is not a ruling on anyone else’s.
