Fasting on Ashura

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیمِ، سُبْحانَ اللہِ مِلْاِ الْمِیْزَانِ، وَمُنْتَھَی الْعِلْمِ، وَمَبْلَغَ الرِّضَا، وَزِنَۃَ الْعَرْشِ۔
Bismillah hir rahma-nir raheeme, subhaa-nal-laahe millil mee-zaane, wa munta-hal i’lme, wa mabla-ghar-rezaa, wa ze-natal a’r-she.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Glory be to Allah whose praise fills the scales. Glory be to Allah the One who is the ultimate limit of all knowledge. Glory be to Allah the One who grants the highest degree of acceptance and pleasure. Glory be to Allah the adornment of the Throne.
خدا کے نام سے جو رحمٰن و رحیم ہے پاک ہے اللہ ترازو کے پورا ہونے علم کی آخری حدوں اور خوشنودی کی رسائی اور وزنِ عرش کے برابر۔
یَا قَابِلَ تَوْبَۃِ آدَمَ یَوْمَ عاشُوْرَاءَ، یَا رَافِعَ اِدْرِیْسَ اِلَی السَّمَائِ یَوْمَ عَاشُوْرَاءَ، یَا مُسَکِّنَ سَفِیْنَۃِ نُوْحٍ عَلَی الْجُوْدِیِّ یَوْمَ عَاشُوْرَاءَ، یَا غِیَاثَ اِبْرَاھِیْمَ مِنَ النَّارِ یَوْمَ عَاشُوْرَآءَ۔۔۔
Yaa qaabe-la taw-bate aadama a’ashuraa-a, yaa raafe-a’ idreesa elas-samaa-e yawma a’ashuraa-a, yaa mo-sakke-na safee-nate noohin a’lal joo-diyye yawma a’ashuraa-a, yaa gheyaa-sa ibraaheema menan naare yawma a’ashuraa-a…

اے روزِ عاشور آدمؑ کی توبہ قبول کرنے والے! اے عاشور کے دن ادریس ؑکو آسمان پر لے جانے والے اے روزِ عاشور نوحؑ کی کشتی کو جودی پہاڑ پر ٹکانے والے اے یوم ِعاشور ابراہیم ؑکو آگ سے نجات دینے والے …
فَاجِعَةٌ اِنْ اَرَدْتُ اَكْتُبُهَا، جَرَتْ دُمُوْعِىْ فَحَالَ حَاۗئِلُهَا، وَقَالَ قَلْبِىْ بُقْيًا عَلَىَّ فَلَا، بَكَتْ لَهَا الْاَرْضُ وَالسَّمَاۗءُ، مُجْمَلَةً ذِكْرَةً لِمُدَّكِرٍ، مَا بَيْنَ لَحْظِ الْجُفُوْنِ وَالزُّبُرِ، وَاللهِ مَا قَدْ طُبِعْتُ مِنْ حَجَرٍ، بَيْنَهُمَا فِىْ مَدَامِعٍ حُمُرٍ۔
Faaji'atun in aradtu aktubuhaa, jarat dumoo'ee fahaala haa'iluhaa, waqaala qalbee buqyan 'alayya falaa, bakat lahaa al-ardu was-samaa'u, mujmalatan zikratan limuddakirin, maa bayna lahzi al-jufooni waz-zuburi, wallaahi maa qad tubi'tu min hajarin, baynahumaa fee madaami'in humurin. auto
A tragedy if I attempt to write it, my tears begin to flow and block my pen. My heart cries out, “Have mercy on yourself do not continue!” For this calamity the earth and the heavens wept. A reminder, concise yet powerful, for anyone who will take heed between the blink of an eye and the lines of written pages. By Allah, I was not fashioned from stone for between these moments my eyes pour forth crimson tears.
یہ وہ مصیبت ہے اگر اسے لکھوں، تو میرے آنسو نکل پڑیں اور حائل ہوں، میرا دل کہے گا رحم کرمجھ پر نہیں میں، اس پر روئے ہیں زمین و آسماں اور مختصرًا اسے دوسروں سے بیان کروں، میری آنکھوں اور اوراق کے درمیان، بخدا کوئی پتھر کہ میری تو جان چلی، جو کچھ ان کےدرمیان ہے خون کے آنسو۔
اَللّٰھُمَّ اِنَّ ھَذَا یُوْمَ تَبَرَّکْتَ بِہٖ بَنُوْ اُمَیَّۃِ۔
Allaahumma inna hazaa yawma tabar-rakta behi banoo umaiyyate.
O Allah! Indeed, this is the day on which the Banu Umayyah sought blessing (and took it as a day of celebration).
اے اللہ ! یہ وہ دن ہے جس کو بنی امیہ نے بابرکت قرار دیا ہے ۔
