The adherents (Shia) of Imam Husain (a) should discuss the martyrdom of their Imam and should weep for him. It is narrated that when Prophet Moses (a) was ordered to meet the Khizr (a), the first matter they discussed was the misfortune that the Household of Prophet Muhammad (a) would face. They therefore wept heavily for these misfortunes.
ضروری ہے کہ آج کے دن امام حسینؑ کی مجلس اور واقعاتِ شہادت کو پڑھیں خود روئیں اور دوسروں کو رلائیں،روایت میں ہے: جب حضرت موسیٰؑ کو حضرت خضرؑ سے ملاقات کرنے اور ان سے تعلیم لینے کا حکم ہوا تو سب سے پہلی بات جس پر ان کے درمیان مذاکرہ مکالمہ ہوا وہ یہ ہے کہ حضرت خضرؑ نے حضرت موسیٰؑ کے سامنے ان مصائب کا ذکر کیا جو آل محمدؑ پہ آنے والے تھے،اور ان دونوں بزرگواروں نے ان مصائب پر بہت گریہ و بکا کیا۔
Ibne Abbas is reported to have said, “When I accompanied Imam Ali (a) in Zeehaar, he took out a paper comprising the dictations of the Holy Prophet (s) and handwritten by Imam Ali (a) himself. He read some segments of that paper and I heard. It contained the story of Imam Husain’s martyrdom with full details of the way he would be killed, the person who would kill him, those who would support him, and those who would be martyred with him. Imam Ali (a) then wept heavily and caused me to weep.” At any rate, if one offers water to people on the day of Ashur at the holy tomb of Imam Husain (a), his reward will be similar to the reward of one who offered water to the companions of Imam Husain (a) at Karbala.
ابن عباس سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے کہا:میں مقامِ ذیقار میں امیرالمؤمنینؑ کے حضور گیاتو آپ نے ایک کتابچہ نکالا جو آپ کا اپنا لکھا ہوا اور رسول اللہؐ کا لکھوایا ہوا تھا، آپ نے اس کا کچھ حصہ میرے سامنے پڑھا اس میں امام حسینؑ کی شہادت کا ذکر تھا اور اسی طرح یہ بھی تھا کہ شہادت کس طرح ہو گی اور کون آپ کو شہید کرے گا،کون کون آپ کی مدد و نصرت کرے گا اور کون کون آپ کے ہم رکاب رہ کر شہید ہوگا یہ ذکر پڑھ کر امیرالمؤمنینؑ نے خود بھی گریہ کیا اور مجھ کو بھی خوب رلایا۔ خلاصہ یہ کہ اگر کوئی شخص عاشور کے دن امام حسینؑ کے روضۂ اقدس کے نزدیک رہ کر لوگوں کو پانی پلاتا رہے تو وہ اس شخص کے مانند ہے،جس نے حضرتؑ کے لشکر کو پانی پلایا ہو اور آپ کے ہم رکاب کربلا میں موجود رہا ہو۔
The adherents of Imam Husain (a) are required not to eat or drink anything on this day, but not in the intention of ritual fasting, and to break this abstention from food and drink with a meal that is usually offered to the unfortunate people, such as yoghurt, milk, or the like meals; and that should be at the last hour of this day after the afternoon time. In other words, they should avoid having rich or delicious meals on this day, for it is a day of misfortune. They are also required to put on clean dresses and to unfasten the buttons and raise their sleeves just like the unfortunate people.
یہ بھی ضروری اور مناسب ہے کہ شیعہ مسلمان آج کے دن فاقہ کریں، یعنی کچھ کھائیں پئیں نہیں، مگر روزے کا قصد بھی نہ کریں عصر کے بعد ایسی چیز سے افطار کریں جو مصیبت زدہ انسان کھاتے ہیں مثلاً دودھ یا دہی و غیرہ نیز آج کے دن قمیضوں کے گریبان کھلے رکھیں اور آستینیں چڑھا کر ان لوگوں کی طرح رہیں جو مصیبت میں مبتلا ہو تے ہیں یعنی مصیبت زدہ لوگوں جیسی شکل و صورت بنائے رہیں۔

اَعْظَمَ اللهُ اُجُوْرَنَا بِمُصَابِنَا بِالْحُسَيْنِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَجَعَلَنَا وَاِيَّاكُمْ مِنَ الطَّالِبِيْنَ بِثَارِهٖ مَعَ وَلِيِّهِ الْاِمَامِ الْمَهْدِيِّ مِنْ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ۔
A'zama allaahu ujooranaa bimusaabinaa bil-husayni 'alayhi as-salaamu waja'alanaa wa-iyyaakum mina at-taalibeena bithaarihee ma'a waliyyihi al-imaami al-mahdiyyi min aali muhammadin 'alayhimu as-salaam.
May Allah make our reward and your reward great, for our grief for Husain, peace be on him. May He place us and you from those who seek vengeance for his blood with His representative, the guided Imam from the family of Muhammad, peace be on them.
اللہ زیادہ کرے ہمارے اجر و ثواب کو اس پر جو کچھ ہم امام حسینؑ کی سوگواری وعزاداری میں کرتے ہیں اور ہمیں تمہیں امام حسینؑ کے خون کابدلہ لینے والوں میں قرار دے اپنے ولی امام مہدیؑ کے ہم رکاب ہو کر کہ جو آل محمدؑ میں سے ہیں۔
Recite dua Morning of Ashura.
دُعا صبح عاشور پڑھے۔
Imam Sajjad (a) reported that when the cavalry of Umar ibne Saad approached Imam Husain (a) on the morning of 10th Muharram 61 Hijri he raised his hand and recited dua Allahumma anta seqati.
امام سجادؑ سے روایت ہے کہ جب ۱۰؍محرم۶۱ ؍ھجری کو عمر ابن سعد کی فوج امام حسینؑ کی طرف بڑھی تو اس وقت امامؑ نے اپنے ہاتھوں کو بلند کرتے ہوے دُعا اَللّٰہُمَّ اَنْتَ ثِقَتِیْ پڑھی۔
Take a few steps forward and then come back to where you began (with turning your face). Say the following while you are moving forward and backward 7 times…
کچھ قدم آگے بڑھائے اور پھر پیچھے کی طرف آئے اس طرح ملا کر ۷ مرتبہ کرتے ہوئے ۷ مرتبہ پڑھے۔۔۔
اِنَّا لِلہِ وَاِنَّا اِلَیْہِ رَاجِعُوْنَ رِضًا بِقَضَآئِہٖ وَتَسْلِیْمًا لِّاَمْرِہٖ۔
Innaa lillaahi wa-innaa ilayhi raaji'oona ridan biqadaa'ihee watasleeman li-amrih.
Verily we are Allah’s and verily unto Him we return. We are happy with His will and carry out His command.
بےشک ہم اللہ کے لئے ہیں اور اسی کی طرف پلٹائے جائنگے، ہم اس کی رضا پر راضی ہیں اور اس کے فرمانبردار ہیں۔
Then recite dua Allahumma azze-bil fajarata.
پھر دُعا اَللّٰہُمَّ عَذِّبِ الْفَجَرَۃَ پڑھے۔
Imam Jafar Sadiq (a) has advised the faithfuls to do the following Amaal on the day of Ashur before the zohr salaat.
امام جعفر صادقؑ نے تاکید کی ہے کہ اس عمل کو نماز ظہر سے پہلے انجام دے۔
A great reward is also recorded for one who repeats Surah Ikhlaas 1000 times on this day. It is narrated that Almighty Allah shall have a merciful look at one who repeats this Surah 1000 times on this day.
آج کے دن ۱۰۰۰ مرتبہ سورۂ اخلاص پڑھنے کی بڑی فضیلت ہے، روایت میں ہے : خدائے تعالیٰ ایسے شخص پر نظرِ رحمت فرماتا ہے۔
Recite 4-rakat namaz (in form of 2-2-rakats). In 1st rakat recite Surah Fateha and Surah Kaafiroon once. In 2nd rakat recite Surah Fateha and Surah Ikhlaas once. In 3rd rakat recite Surah Fateha and Surah Ahzaab once. In 4th rakat recite Surah Fateha and Surah Munafeqoon once.
۴ رکعت نماز دو دو کر کے ادا کریں جس کی پہلی رکعت میں سورۂ فاتحہ کے بعد سورۂ کافرون پڑھے، دوسری رکعت معین سورۂ فاتحہ کے بعد سورۂ اخلاص پڑھے، تیسری رکعت معین سورۂ فاتحہ کے بعد سورۂ احزاب پڑھے اور چوتھی رکعت معین سورۂ فاتحہ کے بعد سورۂ منافقون پڑھے۔
Then remember Imam Husain (a), his family and his companions and recite many salwaat…
بہت زیادہ درود بھیجے۔۔۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa-aali muhammad.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آلؑ پر۔
Then send many laanat on the enemies of Imam Husain (a)…
امام حسینؑ کے قاتلوں پر ان الفاظ میں ہزار مرتبہ لعنت کریں۔۔۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ الْعَنْ قَتَلَةَ الْحُسَیْنِ عَلَیْهِ السَّلَامُ۔
Allaahumma al-'an qatalata al-husayni 'alayhi as-salaam.
O Allah condemn and lay a curse upon the killers of Husain (a.s).
اے اللہ!امام حسینؑ کے قاتلوں پر لعنت کر۔
Say as many times as possible…
جتنی مرتبہ ہو سکے کہے۔۔۔
فَیَا لَیْتَنِیْ کُنْتُ مَعَکُمْ فَاَفُوْزَ مَعَکُمْ فَوْزًا عَظِیْمًا۔
Fayaa laytanee kuntu ma'akum fa-afooza ma'akum fawzan 'azeemaa.
Would that we were with you so that we could also share the great accomplishment with you.
اے کاش میں بھی آپ کے ساتھ ہوتا تو میں بھی عظیم درجہ پر فائز ہوتے۔
