Lailatul Raghaib
لیلۃ الرغائب
- 1st Thursday night (Eve of Friday) of Mahe Rajab is said to be Lailatul Raghaib (Night of Desires).
It is reported that the Holy Prophet (s) used to practice a (recommendable) rite that brings about remarkable rewards at this night, which is a prayer with a special formula. As is mentioned by Sayyid Ibn Tawus in Iqbal al-Aamal and Allamah Majlisi in Ijazat Bani-Zuhrah, that these prayers are Means of forgiveness and on the 1st night in our grave, the Almighty will send the reward of this prayer in the best, enlightened and eloquent form. When inquired, will reply, ‘My Beloved, glad tidings to you that you have found salvation from every hardship and horror. ’When asked, ‘Who are you?’ ‘By God I haven’t seen any one more beautiful than you, I haven’t heard a word sweeter than yours, or a fragrance better than you?’ In reply, ‘I am, that prayer which you offered on the eve of the first Friday of the month of Rajab. I have come to you, to be your companion in this loneliness, to remove from you your fright and horror. Rest assured that my shelter will be with you until the blowing of the Horn on the Day of Judgment.’
اس شب کے لئے رسول خداؐ سے ایک نماز نقل ہوئی ہے کہ جس کے فضائل بہت زیادہ ہیں جنہیں سیدؒنے اقبال اور علامہ مجلسیؒ نے اجازۂ بنی زہرہ میں ذکر کئے ہیں۔ان میں سے ایک یہ ہے کہ اس نماز کی برکت سے کثیر گناہ معاف ہو جائیں گے اور قبر کی پہلی رات یہ نماز بحکمِ خدا خوبصورت و نورانی شکل اور فصیح وعام فہم زبان کے ساتھ آکر کہے گی: اے میرے حبیب! خوش خبری ہو تجھے کہ تو نے ہر تنگی و سختی سے نجات پالی ہے وہ شخص پوچھے گا: تو کون ہے؟خدا کی قسم!میں نے تجھ سے خوبصورت اور شیرین کلام اور خوشبو والا کوئی نہیں دیکھا؟ وہ جواب دے گی: میں تیری وہ نماز اور اس کا ثواب ہوں جو تونے فلاں رات فلاں ماہ اور فلاں سال میں پڑھی تھی آج میں تیرے حق کی ادائیگی کے لئے حاضر اور اس وحشت و تنہائی میں تیری ہم دم و غم خوار ہوں کل روزِ قیامت جب صور پھونکا جائے گا تو اس وقت میں تیرے سر پر سایہ کروں گی اب خوش و خرّم رہو کہ خیر و نیکی کبھی تجھ سے دور نہیں ہوگی۔
One should observe fast on the 1st Thursday of Mahe Rajab and between the Maghrib and Isha Namaz, recite 12-rakat namaz (in form of 2-2-rakats). In each rakat after Surah Fateha recite Surah Qadr 3 times and Surah Ikhlaas 12 times.
اس با برکت نماز کی ترکیب یہ ہے کہ ماہِ رجب کی پہلی جمعرات کو روزہ رکھے اور شبِ جمعہ میں مغرب و عشا کے درمیان ۱۲ رکعت دو دو رکعت کر کے نماز پڑھے کہ ہر رکعت میں سورۂ فاتحہ کے بعد ۳ مرتبہ سورۂ قدر اور ۱۲ مرتبہ سورۂ اخلاص پڑھے۔
After namaz, recite the following invocation 70 times…
نماز سے فارغ ہو کر ۷۰ مرتبہ کہے۔۔۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الْاُمِّيِّ وَعَلٰى آلِهٖ۔
ALLAAHUMMA SALLI 'ALAA MUHAMMADIN AN-NABIYYI AL-UMMIYYI WA'ALAA AALIH.
O Allah send blessings on Muhammad, the Ummi Prophet, and on his descendants.
اے معبود! محمدؐ امی پر اور ان کی آلؑ پررحمت نازل فرما۔
Then go into sajdah and recite 70 times…
پھر سجدے میں جاکر ۷۰ مرتبہ کہے۔۔۔
سُبُّوْحٌ قُدُّوْسٌ رَبُّ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالرُّوْحِ۔
SUBBOOHUN QUDDOOSUN RABBU AL-MALAA'IKATI WAR-ROOH.
Holy and most Holy is the Lord of the Angels and spirits.
فرشتوں اورروح کا رب بے عیب پاک تر ہے۔
Then sit erect and say 70 times…
پھر سجدے سے سر اُٹھا کر ۷۰ مرتبہ کہے۔۔۔
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَتَجَاوَزْ عَمَّا تَعْلَمُ، اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْعَلِيُّ الْاَعْظَمُ۔
RABBI IGHFIR WARHAM WATAJAAWAZ 'AMMAA TA'LAMU, INNAKA ANTA AL-'ALIYYU AL-A'ZAM.
O Lord! Forgive, have mercy and be indulgent about that which Thou knowest well, verily Thou art Sublime, Mighty.
پالنے والے بخش دے رحم فرما اوران گناہوں سے در گزر کر جن کو تو جانتا ہے بے شک تو بلند تر بزرگ تر ہے۔
Then go into Sajdah and say 70 times…
پھر سے سجدے میں جائے اور ۷۰ مرتبہ کہے۔۔۔
سُبُّوْحٌ قُدُّوْسٌ رَبُّ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالرُّوْحِ۔
SUBBOOHUN QUDDOOSUN RABBU AL-MALAA'IKATI WAR-ROOH.

فرشتوں اورروح کا رب بے عیب پاک تر ہے۔
Then, one should pray Almighty Allah for granting one’s needs, for they will be surely granted, God willing.
اس کے بعد اپنی جو حاجت بھی طلب کرے انشاء اللہ تعالیٰ وہ پوری ہوگی۔
