Merits of Shabanماہ شعبان کی فضیلت
This holy month is ascribed to the Holy Prophet (s) who used to observe fasting in it and connect it to the obligatory fasting of Ramadan. He (s) used to say, “Sha’ban is my month; hence, Paradise will be incumbently decided for one who observes fasting on one day of my month.”
معلوم ہونا چاہیے کہ شعبان وہ عظیم مہینہ ہے جو حضرت رسولؐ سے منسوب ہے حضورؐ اس مہینے میں روزے رکھتے اور اس مہینے کے روزوں کو ماہ رمضان کے روزوں سے متصل فرماتے تھے۔ اس بارے میں آنحضرتؐ کا فرمان ہے : شعبان میرا مہینہ ہے اور جو شخص اس مہینہ میں ایک روزہ رکھے تو جنت اس کے لئے واجب ہو جاتی ہے۔
Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a) is reported to have said: Imam Zain al-Abidin (a) used to gather all his companions at the beginning of Sha’ban and say to them, “O my companions, do you know what this month is? It is Sha’ban. The Holy Prophet (s) used to say, ‘Sha’ban is my month.’ You should thus fast in this month as a sign of your love for your Prophet and as a sign of seeking nearness to your Lord. I swear by Him Who grasps my soul in His Hand, I heard my father, Husain (a) saying that he heard Imam Ali, the Commander of the Faithful, saying, ‘As for anyone who observes fasting in Sha’ban for the love of the Messenger of Allah (s) and for seeking nearness to Almighty Allah, Almighty Allah will love him, draw him near to His honor on the Resurrection Day, and decide Paradise for him incumbently.’
امام جعفر صادقؑ فرماتے ہیں : جب شعبان کا چاند نمودار ہوتا تو امام زین العابدینؑ تمام اصحاب کو جمع کرکے فرماتے : اے میرے اصحاب! جانتے ہو کہ یہ کون سا مہینہ ہے ؟ یہ شعبان کا مہینہ ہے اور رسول اﷲؐفرمایا کرتے تھے : یہ شعبان میرا مہینہ ہے۔ لہٰذا اپنے نبیؐ کی محبت اور خدا کی قربت کے لئے اس مہینے میں روزے رکھو۔ اس خدا کی قسم کہ جس کے قبضۂ قدرت میں علی ابن الحسینؑ کی جان ہے! میں نے اپنے پدر بزرگوار حسین ابن علیؑ سے سنا وہ فرماتے تھے میں نے اپنے والد گرامی امیر المومنینؑ سے سنا : جو شخص محبتِ رسولؐ اور قربتِ خدا کے لئے شعبان میں روزہ رکھے تو خدائے تعالیٰ اسے اپنا تقرب عطا کرے گا قیامت کے دن اس کو عزّت و احترام ملے گا اور جنت اس کے لئے واجب ہو جائے گی۔
Shaikh Tusi has narrated on the authority of Safwan al-Jammal that Imam Sadiq (a) instructed him to urge all people he knew to observe fasting in Sha’ban. “May Allah accept me as ransom for you! There is a reason for this instruction. Is there not?” asked Safwan al-Jammal. Imam Sadiq (a) answered, “Yes, there is. When his eyes fell on the new moon of Sha’ban, the Messenger of Allah (s) ordered a spokesman to declare the following to the people of Madina: O people of Yasrib! I am the messenger of Allah’s Messenger to you all (carrying this message). Verily, Sha’ban is my month; therefore, may Allah have mercy upon him who helps me undertake my month.” Imam Sadiq (a) then added, “Ameer al-Momineen (Imam Ali) used to say, ‘I have never missed the fasting in Sha’ban since I heard the call of the Messenger of Allah in Sha’ban. Furthermore, I shall never miss it so long as I am alive, God willing.’”
شیخؒ نے صفوان جمّال سے روایت کی ہے کہ امام جعفر صادقؑ نے فرمایا: اپنے قریبی لوگوں کو ماہِ شعبان میں روزہ رکھنے پر آمادہ کرو! میں نے عرض کیا :آپ پر قربان ہو جاؤں! اس میں کوئی فضیلت ہے ؟آپؑ نے فرمایا: ہاں اور فرمایا: رسول اﷲؐجب شعبان کا چاند دیکھتے تو آپ کے حکم سے ایک منادی یہ ندا کرتا :اے اہلِ مدینہ! میں رسول خداؐ کا نمائندہ ہوں اور ان کا فرمان ہے کہ شعبان میرا مہینہ ہے، خدا کی رحمت ہو اس پر جو اس مہینے میں میری مدد کرے۔ یعنی روزہ رکھے۔ صفوان کہتے ہیں: امام جعفر صادقؑ کا ارشاد ہے کہ امیر المؤمنینؑ فرماتے تھے: جب سے منادیِ رسولؐ نے یہ ندا دی اس کے بعد شعبان کا روزہ مجھ سے قضا نہیں ہوا اور جب تک زندگی کا چراغ گل نہیں ہو جاتا یہ روزہ مجھ سے ترک نہیں ہوگا۔ نیز فرمایا : شعبان اور رمضان دو مہینوں کے روزے توبہ اور بخشش کا سبب ہیں۔
Imam al-Sadiq (a) further said, “To fast in two consecutive months is repentance before Almighty Allah.” Isma’il ibn Abd al-Khaliq narrated that when the subject of observing fasting in Sha’ban was once discussed in the presence of him, Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a) said, “The merits of observing fasting in Sha’ban are so great that even one who sheds inviolable blood is expected to be forgiven.”
اسماعیل ابن عبد الخالق سے روایت ہے : میں امام جعفر صادقؑ کی خدمت میں حاضر تھا، وہاں روزۂ شعبان کا ذکر ہوا تو حضرتؑ نے فرمایا :ماہِ شعبان کے روزے رکھنے کی بہت زیادہ فضیلت ہے حتی کہ نا حق خون بہانے والے کو بھی ان روزوں سے فائدہ پہنچ سکتا ہے اور بخشا جا سکتا ہے۔
On the first day of Sha’ban, Imam Ali (a) passed by a group of Muslims who sat in a mosque debating about theological matters, such as fatalism, with loud voices and intense arguments. The Imam (a) stopped by them and greeted them. They responded to his greeting, made him room, and begged him to sit with them. However, the Imam (a) did not care for them; rather, he addressed them saying…
یکم شعبان کو چند افراد مسجد میں بیٹھے قضا و قدر کے مسئلہ پر بحث و تکرار کرتے ہوئے بلندآواز سے بول رہے تھے۔ امیرالمومنینؑ نے ان لوگوں کو سلام کیا، جب انہوں نے آپ سے وہاں تشریف رکھنے کی خواہش کی تو آپ نے فرمایا :
O you people who discuss matters that are neither their business nor benefiting them! You should have known that Almighty Allah has certain servants who are silent although they are neither inexpressive nor mute. Rather, whenever they consider the magnificence of Almighty Allah, their tongues die down, their hearts repose, their intellects halt, and their minds cease, on account of their glorifying, honoring, and feeling the majesty of Almighty Allah. When they regain consciousness, they compete with each other on seeking nearness to Him by means of pure acts. They regard themselves as wrongdoers and transgressors while they are free from any negligence or immoderation; rather, they do not accept to give little to Almighty Allah and they do not regard anything that they do for Him as adequate. They therefore exert all efforts in acts of worship to Him. When you notice them as they prepare themselves for acts of worship, you find them fearful, frightened, anxious, and terrified.
تم لوگ ایسی باتیں کر رہے ہو جن میں کوئی فائدہ نہیں! آیا تم نہیں جانتے کہ خدا کے ایسے بندے بھی ہیں جو صرف خوفِ خدا سے خاموشی اختیار کرلیتے ہیں لیکن وہ بولنے سے قاصر نہیں ہوتے۔ بات یہ ہے کہ جب ان کے دلوں میں عظمتِ خداوندی کا تصور آتا ہے تو ان کی زبانیں گنگ اور ان کی عقلیں حیران ہوجاتی ہیں، پھر جب وہ اپنی حالت میں آتے ہیں تو خود کو بارگاہ الہٰی میں گنہگار و خطاکار سمجھتے ہوئےآہیں بھرتے ہیں جب کہ وہ گناہوں سے مبرأ ہوتے ہیں۔
Thus, great is the difference between them and you, the heretic people! You should have known that the more one may know about fatalism the more silent one will be. On the contrary, the most ignorant with fatalism are those who debate about it very much. O group of heretic people! This day is the first day of Sha’ban, the honorable month. Our Lord has given it this name (i.e. Sha’ban), because welfare is distributed in this month. Your Lord has opened wide the gates of His Paradise and offered you the palaces and bliss of Paradise with the cheapest costs and the easiest matters; therefore, you should purchase them. On the other hand, Iblis the cursed (i.e. Satan) has presented before you the varieties of his evils and ordeals. You always wander in the paths of error and tyranny, taking the paths of Iblis and missing the paths of goodness whose doors are open wide before you.
حقیقت یہ ہے کہ وہ اپنے عمل کو کم تر سمجھتے ہیں اور ان کا خیال یہ ہوتا ہے کہ ہم میں تقصیر اور کوتاہی ہے۔ لہٰذا وہ ہر وقت عملِ خیر میں مشغول رہتے ہیں۔ یہ وہ لوگ ہیں کہ اگر ان کی طرف نظر کی جائے تو معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ وہ حالتِ خوف میں عبادت میں کھڑے ہیں اور ان کا اضطراب ظاہر ہے۔ ان لوگوں کے مقابلے میں تم کہاں ہو؟ کیا تم نہیں جانتے کہ سب سے بڑا دانا و عقل مندوہ ہے جو زیادہ خاموش رہے اور سب سے بڑا جاہل وہ ہے جو بہت زیادہ باتیں کرتا ہو؟ اے نادان و کم سمجھ لوگو!آج یکم شعبان ہے اور خدائے تعالیٰ نے اس کا نام شعبان اس لئے رکھا ہے کہ اس میں نیکیاں عام کردی جاتی ہیں، حسنات کے دروازے کھل جاتے ہیں اورجنت کے محلات معمولی قیمت اورآسان ترین اعمال سے حاصل ہوتے ہیں۔
This is the first day of Sha’ban. The sections of its benefits are prayer, almsgiving, enjoining the right, forbidding the wrong, piety to parents, relatives and neighbors, setting aright matters of difference, and conferring upon the poor and the needy with charity. Nevertheless, you are discussing matters (i.e. fatalism) that you are not asked to discuss and matters that you are asked not to deal with since they lead to revealing the secrets of Almighty Allah; and those who try to track the secrets of Almighty Allah shall be of those who will perish. If you knew what our Lord, Majestic and Honorable is He, has decided for His obedient servants on this day, you would certainly stop debating and take the initiative in carrying out the commandments by which you are bound.”
اب عبادت کرکے انہیں خریدلو۔ شیطان، ابلیس نے برائیوں کو تمہارے لئے پسندیدہ بنادیا ہے، تم گمراہی نافرمانی اور سرکشی میں پڑے ہو، شیاطین کی بدیوں اور برائیوں کی طرف متوجہ ہو اور شعبان کی خوبیوں اور اچھائیوں سے منہ نہ موڑو۔ جب کہ خدا کی طرف سے نیکیوں اور خیرات کا دروازہ کھلا ہوا ہے۔
The group then asked him, “O Ameer al-Momineen, what has Almighty Allah decided for His obedient servants on this day?”
آج یکم شعبان ہے اور اس کی نیکیوں اور خیرات میں نماز، روزہ، امر بہ معروف و نہی از منکر، والدین، ہمسایہ اور اقربا سے حسنِ سلوک،آپس کے اختلافات دور کرنا اور فقراء و مساکین کے لئے صدقہ و خیرات کرنا ہے۔ ادھر تم ہو کہ قضا و قدر کی بحث میں الجھے ہوئے ہو! کہ جس کا تمہیں حکم نہیں دیا گیا، جن باتوں سے تمہیں منع کیا گیا ہے تم ان میں مشغول ہو۔خبردارہو! جو رازِ الٰہی کے کھولنے میں کوشاں ہوگا وہ برباد ہوجائے گا۔
Imam Ali (a) then narrated to them that the Holy Prophet (s), once, sent an army to counter the atheists. It was a very dark night when the camp of the Muslim army was attacked by the atheists. All Muslims were asleep except Zayd ibn Harithah, ‘Abdullah ibn Rawahah, Qutadah ibn Nu’man, and Qays ibn ‘Asim al-Minqari. These individuals were taking the sides of the camp reciting the Holy Qur’an and offering prayers. When the enemies were about to raid the Muslims, lights came out from the mouths of these wakeful individuals to light up the whole camp and supply the Muslims with power and courage due to which they could overcome their enemies causing them to be killed, wounded, or taken as captives. When the Muslims returned home, they informed the Holy Prophet (s) about the whole story. He (s) therefore commented, “These lights were the result of the acts of worship these individuals did on the first day of Sha’ban.”
آج کے دن اطاعت کرنے والوں کے لئے خدا نے جو کچھ مہیا فرمایا ہے اگر تمہیں اس کا علم ہوجائے تو یقیناً تم ان بے کار بحثوں کو چھوڑکر احکامِ خدا کی طرف متوجہ ہوجاؤگے۔ ان سب نے عرض کی: یا امیرالمومنینؑ! خدا تعالیٰ نے اطاعت گذاروں کے لئے کیا مہیا فرمایا ہے؟ تو حضرتؑ نے ایک لشکر کا قصہ اس طرح نقل فرمایا:
The Holy Prophet (s) then mentioned each and every deed that these individuals had done on the first day of Sha’ban. He then said, “On the first day of Sha’ban, Iblis distributes his hosts all over the earth and instructs them to try their best to attract as many numbers of people as possible. On the other side, Almighty Allah distributes His angels all over the earth and asks them to guide His servants to righteousness. Accordingly, all will be happy except those who intentionally choose to reject and do wrong and, thus, join the party of Iblis. Furthermore, on the first day of Sha’ban, Almighty Allah gives the orders of opening the gate of Paradise and orders the Tree of Tuba (joy) to lower its twigs towards this world. Then, a caller will shout out on behalf of our Lord, ‘O Servants of Allah, these are the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. You must hang on to them so that they will raise you to Paradise. These are also the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. Beware lest they will take you to Hellfire.’
رسول اکرمؐ نے کفار سے جنگ کے لئے ایک لشکربھیجا تو کافروں نے اس پر تاریک ترین رات میں حملہ کردیا اور سبھی مسلمان سورہے تھے۔ اس لشکر میں سے صرف چار افراد جاگ رہے تھے کہ ان میں سے ہر ایک اپنے لشکر کے ایک کونے پر تلاوت، ذکر اور نماز میں مشغول تھا۔ یہ چار افراد زید ابن حارثہ، عبداللہ ابن رواحہ، قتادہ ابن نعمان اور قیس ابن عاصم منقری تھے۔ جب دشمن نے مسلمانوں پر سوتے میں حملہ کردیا تو قریب تھا کہ سب کے سب مارے جائیں۔ لیکن اچانک ان چار اشخاص کے چہروں سے نور کی کرنیں نکلیں کہ سارا میدان روشن ہوگیا۔ اس روشنی میں مسلمان سنبھلے اور دیکھ بھال کر دشمن کا مقابلہ کرنے لگے۔ اور اس نور کو دیکھ کر ان کے حوصلے اور بھی بڑھتے جاتے تھے۔ لہٰذا انہوں نے دشمنوں کو تلواروں سے زیر کرلیا۔
(The Holy Prophet (s) then continues,) I swear by Him Who has chosen me for conveying the (Divine) Mission as a prophet, anyone who tries any of the doors of decency on this day will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba and it will lead him to Paradise. But anyone who tries any of the doors of evil on this day will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum and it will lead him to Hellfire.
یہاں تک کہ بہت سے مارے گئے اور بہت سے زخمی و اسیر ہوگئے۔ جب یہ فاتح لشکر واپس آیا تو یہ ماجرا رسول اللہؐ کی خدمت میں عرض کیا گیا،آپ نے فرمایا : یہ نور تمہارے ان بھائیوں کے ان اعمال کی برکت سے ظاہر ہوا جو اس رات (یکم شعبان کے سلسلہ میں) انجام دے رہے تھے۔ ہاں یہ یکم شعبان کے اعمال ہی ہیں کہ جن کے باعث تمہیں فتح حاصل ہوئی اورتم لوگ دشمن کے اچانک حملے میں اس کا مقابلہ کرنے میں کامیاب ہوئے۔
Thus, one who voluntarily offers a prayer on this day will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who observes fasting on this day will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who reconciles between two spouses, between a father and his son, between two relatives, between two neighbors, or between any two individuals will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who grants respite or releases an insolvent debtor from the debt will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who, after checking his accounts, finds out that he owed somebody an amount and thus he settles that debt will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who volunteers to maintain for an orphan will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who refrains a wicked individual from reviling at the honor of a believer will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who recites the Holy Qur’an or even a portion of it will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who frees himself for mentioning and thanking the graces of Almighty Allah will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who visits an ailed person will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who acts piously to his parents or one of them on that day will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. One who seeks his parents’ satisfaction on that day after he has enraged them will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba. In general, anyone who does any act of decency on that day will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Tuba.
پھر آنحضرتؐ نے ایک ایک کرکے یکم شعبان کے اعمال کا ذکر فرماتے ہوئے کہا: جب یکم شعبان کا دن آتا ہے تو شیطان اپنے لشکر والوں سے کہتا ہے : ہر طرف پھیل جاؤ، لوگوں کو اپنی طرف بلاؤ اور انہیں خدا سے دور کرو۔ جب کہ خدائے رحمان اپنے ملائکہ سے فرماتا ہے : آج یکم شعبان ہے، تم ہر طرف پھیل جاؤ اور میرے بندوں کو میری طرف بلاؤ، انہیں نیکی کی طرف راغب کرو تاکہ وہ سب با سعادت اور نیک بخت بن جائیں البتہ ان میں سے سرکش اور نافرمان لوگ شیطان کے گروہ میں ہی رہیں گے۔
(The Holy Prophet (s) then continues,) I swear by Him Who has chosen me for conveying the (Divine) Mission as a prophet, anyone who does any act of wickedness or disobedience to Almighty Allah on that day will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum, which will take him to Hellfire.
آنحضرتؐ نے فرمایا : جب یکم شعبان ہوتی ہے تو بہشت کے دروازے کھول دیئے جاتے ہیں، شجرِ طوبیٰ کو حکم ہوتا ہے کہ اپنی شاخیں پھیلائے اور انہیں زمین کے قریب کرے، خدا کا ایک منادی یہ ندا دیتا ہے کہ اے خدا کے بندو اور اے نیکوکار لوگو! طوبیٰ کی ان شاخوں سے لپٹ جاؤ کہ وہ تمہیں اٹھاکے جنت میں لے جائیں، جب کہ بدکاروں کے لئے تھوہر کا درخت ہے اور ڈرتے رہو کہ کہیں اس کی شاخیں تمہیں جہنم میں نہ لے جائیں۔
I swear by Him Who has chosen me for conveying the (Divine) Mission as a prophet, one who neglects or disregards the obligatory prayer will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. If one is visited by a needy person while he knows his actual financial situation and he has the capability to change it without causing himself any harm and without the existence of another person who can do this mission; nevertheless, he ignores and leaves him encountering his neediness, he will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. If one rejects the apology of one who had wronged him then he punishes him more than the required, he will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. If one makes quarrel between two spouses, between a father and his son, between two brothers, between two relatives, between two neighbors, between two friends, or between two sisters, he will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. One who deepens the problems of an insolvent debtor while he is aware of his insolvency and hardship will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. One who illegally denies the loan that he has taken from somebody and, moreover, transgresses him will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. One who turns away from, harms, and spoils the property of an orphan will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum.
اس کے بعد رسول اکرمؐ نے فرمایا: مجھے اس ذات کی قسم جس نے مجھ کورسالت پر مامور کیا ہے کہ جو شخص آج کے دن برائی کا کوئی بھی کام کرے تو وہ زقوم(تھوہر) کی شاخوں سے لپٹ گیا اوروہ اسے جہنم کی طرف کھینچ لے جائیں گی پھر فرمایا : قسم ہے مجھ کو اس ہستی کی جس نے مجھے پیغمبرؐ قرار دیا! جو شخص بھی آج کے دن واجب نماز میں کوتاہی کرتے ہوئے اسے ضائع کرے تو وہ بھی شجرِ زقوم [تھوہر]کی شاخوں سے لپٹ گیا۔ جس کے پاس کوئی فقیر و ناتواں آئے کہ جس کی حالت کو یہ جانتا ہے اور اس کی حالت کو بدل بھی سکتا ہے کہ خود اس کو کچھ ضرر نہیں پہنچتا۔ نیز اس غریب کی مدد کرنے والا کوئی دوسرا شخص بھی نہ ہو پس اگر وہ اس بے چارہ کو اس حالت میں چھوڑدے اور وہ ہلاک ہوجائے تو یہ مدد نہ کرنے والازقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹ گیا۔ جس کے سامنے کوئی برے کام والا آدمی معذرت کرے اور پھر بھی وہ اس کو اس کی برائی کی سزا سے کچھ زیادہ سزا دے تو یہ بھی زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹا۔ جو شخص آج کے دن میاں بیوی یا باپ بیٹے یا بھائی بھائی یا بھائی بہن یا کسی قریبی رشتہ داریا ہمسائے یا دو دوستوں میں جدائی اور غلط فہمی پیدا کرے تو وہ بھی زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹ گیا۔
One who ascribes dishonor to a faithful individual and urges people to think ill of him will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. One who sings a song that leads to acts of disobedience to Almighty Allah will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. One who recounts his ill deeds in battles and his wrongdoings against people, taking pride in them, will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. One who neglects visiting his ailed neighbor and does not participate in his funeral ceremony on account of belittling him will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. One who turns away from an injured person on account of disdain, contempt, or disparagement will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. One who acts impiously to his parents or one of them or does not please them on this day on account of a previous impiety to them will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum. In general, anyone who commits any act of indecency on that day will hang on to one of the twigs of the Tree of Zaqqum.
جو شخص کسی تنگ دست پر سختی کرے کہ جس کی حالت کو جانتاہے اور اس کی مصیبت میں اپنے غصے کا اضافہ کرے تو وہ زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹا۔ جس پر کسی کا قرض ہو اور یہ اس کا انکار کردے اور اپنی عیاری و مکاری سے اس قرض کو باطل قرار دے تو یہ بھی زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹ گیا۔جو شخص کسی یتیم کو اذیت دے، اس پر ستم کرے اور اس کے مال کو ضائع کردے تو وہ بھی زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹ گیا اور جو شخص کسی مومن کی عزّت کو خراب کرے اور دوسروں کو ایسا کرنے کے لئے اکسائے تو وہ بھی اس درخت کی شاخوں سے لپٹا۔ جو شخص اس طرح گانا گائے کہ لوگ اس کے گانوں سے گناہوں میں مبتلا ہوں تو وہ زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹا اور جوشخص زمانۂ جنگ میں کیے ہوئے اپنے برے کاموں اور اپنے ظلم و ستم کے دوسرے واقعات لوگوں میں بیٹھ کر فخرسے سنائے تو وہ بھی زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹا۔
I swear by Him Who has chosen me for conveying the (Divine) Mission as a prophet, those who hang on to the twigs of the Tree of Tuba will be raised to Paradise.’
جو شخص اپنے بیمار ہمسائے کو کم تر تصور کرتے ہوئے اس کی عیادت نہ کرے تو وہ زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹ گیا۔ اور جو شخص اپنے مردہ ہمسائے کو ذلیل سمجھتے ہوئے اس کے جنازے کے ساتھ نہ جائے تو وہ بھی اس درخت کی شاخوں سے لپٹا۔ جو شخص کسی مظلوم سے بے رخی برتے اوراسے پست خیال کرتے ہوئے اس پر سختی کرے تو وہ زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹا اور جو شخص اپنے ماں باپ یا دونوں میں سے کسی ایک کا نافرمان ہوجائے تو وہ بھی اس درخت کی شاخوں سے لپٹ گیا۔ جو شخص آج کے دن سے قبل اپنے ماں باپ کا نافرمان ہو اور آج کے دن ان کو راضی و خوش نہ کرے تو وہ بھی زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹ گیا۔ مزید جو بھی شخص ان برائیوں کے علاوہ کسی اور بدی و گناہ کا ارتکاب کرے تو وہ بھی درختِ زقوم کی شاخوں سے لپٹ گیا۔
The Holy Prophet (s) then raised his sight toward the heavens for a while and smiled pleasingly. He then lowered his sight toward the earth and frowned. He then turned his face towards his companions and said, “I swear by Him Who has chosen Muhammad for conveying the Divine Mission as a prophet, I have just seen the Tree of Tuba raising its twigs and I have seen it taking those who hanged on to its twigs to Paradise. I have also seen some people hanging on to one twig, others to two, or even more according to their deeds of obedience to Almighty Allah. I can see Zayd ibn Harithah hanging on to all of its twigs and it is raising him up. Because of this, I smiled pleasingly. I then looked at the ground and, I swear by Him Who has chosen me for conveying the Mission as a prophet, I have seen the Tree of Zaqqum lowering its twigs and leading those who have hanged on to it to Hellfire. I have seen some of them hanging on to one twig, others to two, and so on, according to their acts of disobedience. I can see some of the hypocrites hanging on to all the twigs and the Tree of Zaqqum is taking them to the lowest of its stages. because of this, I frowned.”
آنحضرتؐ نے مزید فرمایا: قسم ہے مجھے اس ذات کی جس نے مجھ کو نبیؐ و پیغمبرؐ بنایا کہ جو لوگ درختِ طوبیٰ کی شاخوں سے لپٹے ہوئے ہوں گے وہ انہیں اٹھاکر جنت میں لے جائیں گے۔ اس کے بعد رسولِ اﷲؐنے چند لمحوں کے لئے اپنی نگاہ آسمان کی طرف بلند کی تو آپ خوش ہوئے اور مسکرائے پھر اپنی نگاہ زمین پر ڈالی اور آپؐ کے چہرۂ مبارک سے کچھ ناراضگی ظاہر ہوئی تو اپنے اصحاب کی سمت دیکھتے ہوئے فرمایا: مجھ کو قسم ہے اس ہستی کی جس نے مجھے پیغمبرؐ قرار دیا! میں نے شجرِ طوبیٰ کو بلند ہوتے اور اپنے سے لپٹے ہوئے لوگوں کو جنت کی طرف لے جاتے دیکھا ہے اپنی اطاعت و نیکوکاری کی مقدار کےاعتبار سے کہ اس کی ایک شاخ یا کئی کئی شاخوں سے لپٹے ہوئے تھے میں نے دیکھا کہ زید ابن حارثہ اس کی کئی شاخوں سے لپٹے ہوئے ہیں اور وہ ان کو جنت کے مقامِ اعلیٰ علیین کی طرف بلند کرتی جارہی ہیں یہ دیکھ کر میں خوش ہوا اور مسکرایا۔پھر میں نے زمین پر نظر ڈالی تو قسم ہے اس ہستی کی جس نے مجھ کوبرحق نبیؐ بنایا! میں نے درختِ زقوم کو دیکھا کہ اس کی شاخیں نیچے کی طرف جارہی ہیں اور جو لوگ اپنی برائیوں کے مطابق اس کی ایک یا کئی شاخوں سے لپٹے ہوئے ہیں وہ ان کو جہنم کے سب سے نچلے طبقے کی طرف لے جارہی ہیں۔ اس سے میرے چہرے پر بیزاری کے آثار ظاہر ہوئے تھے۔اور اس کے ساتھ کئی منافق لپٹے ہوئے تھے۔
