Is Shor Ki Aadi Nahi Zainab اے شامیوں اس شور کی عادی نہیں زینبؑ
written and recited by Mir Hasan Mir · for Arrival of the Karbala captives in Damascus
About this noha
A noha for Zainab (a) among the people of Syria, written, composed and recited by Mir Hasan Mir for Muharram 2026 (1448 AH). Its refrain answers the crowds of Damascus who celebrated the arrival of the captives: Zainab (a) is no rebel, and not used to such clamour. The couplets follow her from Karbala through the market and the prison of Damascus, and close with a plea, not the poet's alone, to be called to Syria again for her brother's Chehlum.

The noha
Stanza 1
O people of Syria, Zainab (a) is not used to such clamour;
why do you celebrate? Zainab (a) is no rebel.
Stanza 2
Everyone kept saying, "Kill Shabbir (a)!"
"Do not kill my brother!" Zainab (a) kept saying.
Stanza 3
Perhaps Sakina (a) has been lost in some market:
even when the accursed one lashes her with whips, Zainab (a) does not move on.
Stanza 4
Weeping, she takes to kissing her mother's veil;
even back at home, Zainab (a) has not forgotten the market.
Stanza 5
Lest someone should come to kill Abid (a),
in the prison Zainab (a) did not sleep for fear of it.
Stanza 6
How could these stones break her courage?
Even at the bier of Qasim (a), Zainab (a) did not fall apart.
Stanza 7
Now it falls to you alone to protect Sajjad (a);
your Ghazi (a) stands guard over you no more, Zainab (a).
Stanza 8
Wrapped in a veil of wounds, she slept in such a way
that Sajjad (a) kept trying to wake her, and Zainab (a) did not wake.
Stanza 9
Call us to Syria again for your brother's Chehlum;
this is not your Mir's plea alone, Zainab (a).
