About this day
One reckoning, recorded by al-Kulayni in al-Kafi, places the birth of Imam al-Hasan al-Askari (a) in 232 AH on the eighth of Rabi al-Thani; another places it on the tenth. Twelver communities are divided between the two, and both dates are kept on the calendar. A mourning day, the martyrdom of Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra (a) on the forty-day report, falls on the eighth as well, and the two appear side by side.
