Sayyid bin Taoos writes in his book Fathul Abwaab that: Badr bin Yaqoob Muqirri A'jami, in Kazimiyya, narrated three traditions regarding Tafa'ul and Istekhara through Qur’an (without offering prayer for it) for us. Lift the Holy Qur’an and recite the following supplication…
سید بزرگوار علی بن طاؤوس فتح الابواب میں کہتے ہیں کہ میں امام موسیٰ کاظم کے حرم میں تھا کہ بدر بن یعقوب مقری اعجمی نے قرآن کے ساتھ استخارہ کرنے کے بارے میں تین روایتیں میرے لئے نقل کیں ان میں سے کوئی بھی نماز کی روایات میں وارد نہیں ہوئی ہیں۔۔۔
1st Tradition
Lift the Holy Qur’an and recite the following supplication…
قرآن کو اپنے ہاتھ میں لے لیں اور دعا کریں اس وقت کہیں۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنْ كَانَ مِنْ قَضَائِكَ وَقَدَرِكَ اَنْ تَمُنَّ عَلٰی اُمَّۃِ نَبِیِّكَ، بِظُهُوْرِ وَلِیِّكَ وَابْنِ بِنْتِ نَبِیِّكَ، فَعَجِّلْ ذَالِكَ، وَسَهِّلْهُ وَیَسِّرْهُ وَكَمِّلْهُ، وَاَخْرِجْ لِیْ آیَۃً اَسْتَدِلُّ بِهَا عَلٰی اَمْرٍ فَاَئْتَمِرُ، اَوْ نَهْیٍ فَاَنْتَهِیْ (اَوْ مَا تُرِیْدُ الْفَالَ فِیْهِ) فِیْ عَافِیَۃٍ۔
Allaahumma in kaana min qadaa'ika waqadarika an tamunna 'alaa ummati nabiyyika, bizuhoori waliyyika wabni binti nabiyyika, fa'ajjil zaalika, wasahhilhu wayassirhu wakammilhu, wa-akhrij lee aayatan astadillu bihaa 'alaa amrin fa-a'tamiru, aw nahyin fa-antahee (aw maa tureedu al-faala feehi) fee 'aafiyah.
O Allah, if it may be Your will and Your destiny to favor upon the nation of Your Prophet (peace be upon him) through the reappearance of Your Guardian and the son of Your Prophet’s daughter, then hasten it, and make it easy and complete it, and show me a verse through which I can comprehend Your command and perform my deed, or if You forbid me, I shall not perform it, (or for that which I seek Your will), so that this deed shall be performed with peace and safety.
اے اللہ! اگر تیرے قضا و قدر میں یہ بات ہے کہ تُو اپنے نبیؐ کی اُمت پر اپنے ولی اور اپنے نبیؐ کی بیٹی کے فرزند کے ظہور کے ذریعے احسان فرمائے، تو اسے جلد فرما، اسے آسان کر دے، سہولت و آسانی عطا فرما اور اسے کامل فرما۔ اور میرے لیے ایک نشانی ظاہر فرما جس کے ذریعے میں کسی حکم پر عمل کر سکوں، یا کسی ممانعت سے باز رہ سکوں (یا جس چیز میں تُو میرے لیے فال/استخارہ دکھانا چاہے) عافیت کے ساتھ۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa-aali muhammad.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آلؑ پر۔
Then count seven pages from the Holy Qur’an; from the second side of the seventh page, count six lines and from the seventh line, comprehend as per your intention.
اس کے بعد سات ورقہ گن لیں جب ساتویں ورق پر پہنچے اس کے دوسرے صفحہ پر دیکھیں اور چھ سطریں شمار کریں اور ساتویں سطر پر فال نکال لیں۔
2nd Tradition
After reciting the aforementioned supplication, open the Holy Qur’an and count seven pages, and from the second side of the seventh page and also from the first side of the eighth page, count the number of times the Holy name of Allah is repeated, then according to that number, count the pages of Qur’an. Thereafter, from the second side of the last page opened in front of you, begin to count the lines as per the number of Allah’s name you have previously counted, and comprehend your affair from the last line.
اسی دعا کو پڑھ لے اس کے بعد قرآن مجید کو کھول لیں اور سات ورق کی گنتی کرلیں ساتویں ورق کے دوسرے صفحہ پر اور پہلے صفحہ میں آٹھویں ورق سے لفظ اللہ کو شمار کریں اس کے بعد لفظ اللہ کی تعداد سے سطروں کو شمار کریں اور آخری سطر میں فال ڈال دیں۔
3rd Tradition
After reciting the supplication mentioned above, count eight pages, then count eleven lines from the first side of the eighth page, and derive your intended demand from that same eleventh line. We have mentioned these three ways of seeking the divine advice through the Holy Qur’an, according to what we heard.
جب دعائے مذکور کو پڑھ لیں تو آٹھ ورق شمار کریں اس کے بعد آٹھویں ورق کے پہلے صفحہ پر گیارہ سطریں شمارکریں اور گیارھویں سطر پر فال نکال لیں قرآن سے فال نکالنے کے بارے میں یہی تین روایتیں سنی تھیں جن کو نقل کیا ہے۔
