In his book Misbah, Allama Hilli says: This Istekhara has been narrated from Imam Mahdi (A.S.) in the following way: Recite Surah Fateha 10 times or 3 times or once, then recite Surah Qadr 10 times, then recite the following supplication thrice…
علامہ حلی نے کتاب مصباح میں کہا ہے کہ اس استخارہ کی آخری حجت کی طرف سے روایت ہوئی ہے اور اس کا طریقہ اس طرح ہے کہ سورۂ فاتحہ کو ۱۰ دفعہ یا ۳ دفعہ یا ایک دفعہ پڑھے اس کے بعد سورۂ قدر کو بھی ۱۰ مرتبہ پڑھے اس کے بعد ۳ مرتبہ یہ دعا پڑھے۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْتَخِیْرُكَ لِعِلْمِكَ بِعَاقِبَۃِ الْاُمُوْرِ، وَاَسْتَشِیْرُكَ لِحُسْنِ ظَنِّیْ بِكَ فِی الْمَامُوْلِ وَالْمَحْذُوْرِ۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنْ كَانَ الْاَمْرُ الْفُلَانِیْ مِمَّا قَدْ نِیْطَتْ بِالْبَرَكَۃِ اَعْجَازُهٗ وَبَوَادِیْهٖ، وَحُفَّتْ بِالْكَرَامَۃِ اَیَّامُهٗ وَلَیَالِیْهِ، فَخِرْلِیَ۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ فِیْهٖ خِیَرَۃً تَرُدُّ شَمُوْسَهٗ ذَلُوْلًا، وَتَقْعَضُ اَیَّامَهٗ سُرُوْرًا۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِمَّا اَمْرٌ فَاَئْتَمِرُ، وَاِمَّا نَهْیٌ فَاَنْتَهِیْ۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْتَخِیْرُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ خِیَرَۃً فِیْ عَافِیَۃٍ۔
Allaahumma innee astakheeruka li'ilmika bi'aaqibati al-umoori, wa-astasheeruka lihusni zannee bika fee al-maamooli wal-mahzoor.
Allaahumma in kaana al-amru al-fulaanee mimmaa qad neetat bil-barakati a'jaazuhoo wabawaadeehee, wahuffat bil-karaamati ayyaamuhoo walayaaleehi, fakhirlee.
Allaahumma feehee khiyaratan taruddu shamoosahoo zaloolan, wataq'adu ayyaamahoo surooraa.
Allaahumma immaa amrun fa-a'tamiru, wa-immaa nahyun fa-antahee.
Allaahumma innee astakheeruka birahmatika khiyaratan fee 'aafiyah.
O Allah, I seek the good from You because You know about the fate of all affairs, I seek advice from You because I am optimistic about You for all that I desire and all that I fear. O Allah, if that affair (and name your work) is attached to Your grace from the beginning till the end, and is enveloped by Your blessings throughout its days and nights, then select it for me. O Allah, such that its rebellion calms down, and it possesses happy and prosperous days. O Allah, if You will command I will perform it, and if You forbid me from it, I will forsake it. O Allah, indeed I seek the good from You through Your Mercy, the good along with the welfare.
خدایا! میں تجھ سے طلبِ خیر کر رہا ہوں کیوں کہ تو امور کے عواقب و نتائج سے واقف ہے اور تجھ سے مشورہ کر رہا ہوں کیوں کہ جن چیزوں کی مجھے امید ہے اور جن سے خوف زدہ ہوں ان کے بارے میں میں تجھ سے حُسن ظن رکھتا ہوں۔ بارِ الہٰا! اس فلاں کام کا آغاز و انجام اگر برکتوں کے ہمراہ ہے اور اس کے شب و روز کرامت و شرافت کے حامل ہوں تو میرے لئے اس میں ایسی خیر و بھلائی کا انتخاب فرما جو سختیوں کو آسائشوں میں بدل دے اور اس کے دنوں کو نشاط و سرور سے پُر کر دے۔ خدایا! اگر تیرا حکم ہو تو بجالاؤں گا اور اگر تو منع فرمائے تو رک جاؤں گا۔ خدایا! تیری رحمت کے ساتھ تجھ سے خیر و عافیت کا طالب ہوں۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa-aali muhammad.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آلؑ پر۔
After reciting the supplication, hold a portion of the chaplet (keeping in mind your intention) and count. After counting the number of beads that you held from the chaplet, if the quantity turns out to be odd, perform the work, and if it turns out even, do not perform it.
اس کے بعد تسبیح کو مٹھی میں لے لے اور اپنی حاجت کو اپنے دل میں نیت کرلے اور اس مٹھی میں جو تسبیح ہے اس کو شمار کرلے اگر شمار کرنے کے بعد عدد طاق رہ جائے تو اس کام کو انجام دے اگر وہ عدد جفت رہ جائے تو اس کو ترک کرے۔
2nd Istekhara…
Allama Majlisi writes in his book Bihar ul Anwaar that: I heard from my father that he narrated this tradition from Sheikh Bahayi who said: I was having a conversation with my teachers as they said: It is narrated from Imam Mahdi (a) regarding Istekhara through chaplet that he said: Take a chaplet, recite Salawaat on Mohammad (s) and his Holy Progeny (a) 3 times, then hold a portion of the chaplet and count two-two beads till the end, if one bead remains, then perform your intended work; and if two beads remain, then do not perform it.
علامہ مجلسی بحار الانوار میں کہتے ہیں کہ اپنے پدر بزرگوار سے سنا کہ اس نے اپنے استاد شیخ بہائی سے نقل کیا ہے کہ وہ فرماتے تھے کہ میرے اساتذہ تسبیح کے ساتھ استخارہ کے طریقہ کو حضرت آخری حجت(علیہ السلام ) سے اس طرح نقل کرتے تھے کہ تسبیح کو ہاتھ میں لیکر تین مرتبہ محمد و آل محمد پر درود بھیجیں اور تسبیح کو مٹھی میں لے لیں اس کو دو دو کر کے شمار کریں آخر میں اگر ایک دانہ بچ جائے تو اس کام کو انجام دیں اگر دو باقی رہ جائے تو اس کام کو انجام نہ دیں۔
