سلیمان جعفری روایت کرتے ہیں امام رضاؑ سے، اور اُنہوں نے اپنے پدرِ بزرگوار سے کہ وہ فرماتے ہیں: جب ہشام ابن صائب، امام جعفر صادقؑ کی خدمت میں آئے تو امامؑ نے فرمایا: کیا تم اپنے حساب سے قرآن کی تفسیر و تحریر کرتے ہو؟ ہشام نے کہا: ہاں! امامؑ نے فرمایا: تو تم مجھے اس آیت (۱۷:۴۵) کے بارے میں بتلاؤں جو اللہ تعالی نے اپنے نبی پر نازل کی۔۔۔

وَاِذَا قَرَاْتَ الْقُرْاٰنَ جَعَلْنَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ حِجَابًا مَّسْتُوْرًا

Wa izaa qara’ tal quraana ja’alnaa bainaka wa bainal lazeena laa yu’minoona bil aakhirati hijaabam mastooraa.

And when you recite the Quran, We place between you and those who do not believe in the hereafter a hidden barrier;

اور جب تم قرآن پڑھتے ہو تو ہم تمہارے اور آخرت پر ایمان نہ رکھنے والوں کے درمیان حجاب قائم کردیتے ہیں۔

What is the interpretation of this verse that whenever the Holy Prophet (s) recited it then he would go under cover from the infidels? Hesham said: I do not know. Imam (a) said: Then how do you say that you are the interpreter of the Holy Qur’an? He said: O son of the Messenger of Allah (s) will you please explain me about it. اس آیت کا کیا مطلب ہے کہ جب بھی رسول خداؐ اس آیت کی تلاوت کرتے تو وہ کافروں کو نظر نہیں آتے تھے؟ ہشام نے کہا: مجھے نہیں معلوم۔ امامؑ نے فرمایا: تو پھر تم کیسے کہہ سکتے ہو کہ اللہ جو قرآن میں کہنا چاہتا ہے وہ وہی ہے جو تم بیان کرتے ہو؟ اُس نے کہا: اے فرزندِ رسول خداؐ کیا آپ مجھے اس کے بارے میں بتائینگے۔ امامؑ نے فرمایا: اِن میں سے ہر ایک سورے میں، یعنی سورہٴ کہف، سورہٴ نحل اور سورہٴ جاثیہ میں ایک ایسی آیت ہے۔ جیسے سورہٴ جاثیہ کی آیت (۴۵:۲۳)۔۔۔

اَفَرَئَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰهَهٗ هَوٰهُ وَاَضَلَّهُ اللهُ عَلٰى عِلْمٍ وَّخَتَمَ عَلٰى سَمْعِهٖ وَقَلْبِهٖ وَجَعَلَ عَلٰى بَصَرِهٖ غِشٰوَةً فَمَنْ يَّهْدِيْهِ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ اللهِ اَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُوْنَ

Afara’ayta manit takhaza ilaahahoo hawaahu wa adal lahul laahu ’alaa ’ilminw wa khatama ’alaa sam’ihee wa qalbihee wa ja’ala ’alaa basarihee ghishaawatan famany yahdeehi mim ba’dil laah; afalaa tazakkaroon.

Have you then considered him who takes his low desire for his god, and Allah has made him err having knowledge and has set a seal upon his ear and his heart and put a covering upon his eye. Who can then guide him after Allah? Will you not then be mindful?

کیا آپ نے اس شخص کو بھی دیکھا ہے جس نے اپنی خواہش ہی کو خدا بنا لیا ہے اور خدا نے اسی حالت کو دیکھ کر اسے گمراہی میں چھوڑ دیا ہے اور اس کے کان اور دل پر مہر لگا دی ہے اور اس کی آنکھ پر پردے پڑے ہوئے ہیں اور خدا کے بعد کون ہدایت کر سکتا ہے کیا تم اتنا بھی غور نہیں کرتے ہو۔

Verse (16:108) in Surah Nahl is…

سورہٴ نحل کی آیت (۱۶:۱۰۸)۔۔۔

اُولٰۗئِكَ الَّذِيْنَ طَبَعَ اللهُ عَلٰى قُلُوْبِهِمْ وَسَمْعِهِمْ وَاَبْصَارِهِمْ وَاُولٰۗئِكَ هُمُ الْغٰفِلُوْنَ

Ulaaa’ikal lazeena taba’al laahu ’alaa quloobihim wa sam’ihim wa absaarihim wa ulaaa’ika humul ghaafiloon.

These are they on whose hearts and their hearing and their eyes Allah has set a seal, and these are the heedless ones.

یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے دلوں پر اور آنکھ کان پر کفر کی چھاپ لگا دی گئی ہے اور یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جوحقیقتًا حقائق سے غافل ہیں۔

Verse (18:57) in Surah Kahf is…

سورہٴ کہف کی آیت (۱۸:۵۷)۔۔۔

وَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ ذُكِّرَ بِاٰيٰتِ رَبِّهٖ فَاَعْرَضَ عَنْهَا وَنَسِيَ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدٰهُ اِنَّا جَعَلْنَا عَلٰى قُلُوْبِهِمْ اَكِنَّةً اَنْ يَّفْقَهُوْهُ وَفِيْٓ اٰذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا وَّاِنْ تَدْعُهُمْ اِلَى الْهُدٰى فَلَنْ يَّهْتَدُوْٓا اِذًا اَبَدًا

Wa man azlamu mimman zukkira bi ayaati rabbihee fa-a’rada ’anhaa wa nasiya maa qaddamat yadaah; innaa ja’alnaa ’alaa quloobihim akinnatan any yafqahoohu wa feee aazaanihim waqraa; wa in tad’uhum ilal hudaa falany yahtadooo izan abadaa.

And who is more unjust than he who is reminded of the communications of his Lord, then he turns away from them and forgets what his two hands have sent before? Surely We have placed veils over their hearts lest they should understand it and a heaviness in their ears; and if you call them to the guidance, they will not ever follow the right course in that case.

اور اس سے بڑا ظالم کون ہوگا جسے آیاتِ الہٰیہ کی یاد دلائی جائے اور پھر اس سے اعراض کرے اور اپنے سابقہ اعمال کو بھول جائے ہم نے ان کے دلوں پر پردے ڈال دیئے ہیں کہ یہ حق کو سمجھ سکیں اور ان کے کانوں میں بہراپن ہے اور اگر آپ انہیں ہدایت کی طرف بلائیں گے بھی تو یہ ہرگز ہدایت حاصل نہ کریں گے۔
