Surah Noor (24, 64 ayat)سورۂ نور

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

(This is) a chapter which We have revealed and made obligatory and in which We have revealed clear communications that you may be mindful.

یہ ایک سورہ ہے جسے ہم نے نازل کیا ہے اور فرض کیا ہے اور اس میں کھلی ہوئی نشانیاں نازل کی ہیں کہ شاید تم لوگ نصیحت حاصل کر سکو۔

(As for) the fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them, (giving) a hundred stripes, and let not pity for them detain you in the matter of obedience to Allah, if you believe in Allah and the last day, and let a party of believers witness their chastisement.

زنا کار عورت اور زنا کار مرد دونوں کو سو سو کوڑے لگاؤ اور خبردار دینِ خدا کے معاملہ میں کسی مروت کا شکار نہ ہو جانا اگر تمہارا ایمان اللہ اور روزِ آخرت پر ہے اور اس سزا کے وقت مومنین کی ایک جماعت کو حاضر رہنا چاہئے۔

The fornicator shall not marry any but a fornicatress or idolatress, and (as for) the fornicatress, none shall marry her but a fornicator or an idolater; and it is forbidden to the believers.

زانی مرد صرف زانیہ یا مشرکہ عورت ہی سے نکاح کرے گا اور زانیہ عورت زانی مرد یا مشرک مرد ہی سے نکاح کرے گی کہ یہ صاحبانِ ایمان پر حرام ہیں۔

And those who accuse free women then do not bring four witnesses, flog them, (giving) eighty stripes, and do not admit any evidence from them ever; and these it is that are the transgressors

اور جو لوگ پاک دامن عورتوں پر زنا کی تہمت لگاتے ہیں اور چار گواہ فراہم نہیں کرتے ہیں انہیں اسّی کوڑے لگاؤ اور پھر کبھی ان کی گواہی قبول نہ کرنا کہ یہ لوگ سراسر فاسق ہیں۔

Except those who repent after this and act aright, for surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

علاوہ ان افراد کے جو اس کے بعد توبہ کر لیں اور اپنے نفس کی اصلاح کر لیں کہ اللہ بہت زیادہ بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

And (as for) those who accuse their wives and have no witnesses except themselves, the evidence of one of these (should be taken) four times, bearing Allah to witness that he is most surely of the truthful ones.

اور جو لوگ اپنی بیویوں پر تہمت لگاتے ہیں اور ان کے پاس اپنے علاوہ کوئی گواہ نہیں ہوتا ہے تو ان کی اپنی گواہی چار گواہیوں کے برابر ہو گی اگر وہ چار مرتبہ قسم کھا کر کہیں کہ وہ سچےّ ہیں۔

And the fifth (time) that the curse of Allah be on him if he is one of the liars.

اور پانچویں مرتبہ یہ کہیں کہ اگر وہ جھوٹے ہیں تو ان پر خدا کی لعنت ہے۔

And it shall avert the chastisement from her if she testify four times, bearing Allah to witness that he is most surely one of the liars;

پھر عورت سے بھی حد برطرف ہو سکتی ہے اگر وہ چار مرتبہ قسم کھا کر یہ کہے کہ یہ مرد جھوٹوں میں سے ہے۔

And the fifth (time) that the wrath of Allah be on her if he is one of the truthful.

اور پانچویں مرتبہ یہ کہے کہ اگر وہ صادقین میں سے ہے تو مجھ پر خدا کا غضب ہے۔

And were it not for Allah’s grace upon you and His mercy- and that Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), Wise!

اور اگر تم پر خدا کا فضل اور اس کی رحمت نہ ہوتی اور وہ توبہ قبول کرنے والا صاحبِ حکمت نہ ہوتا تو اس تہمت کا انجام بہت برا ہوتا۔

Surely they who concocted the lie are a party from among you. Do not regard it an evil to you; nay, it is good for you. Every man of them shall have what he has earned of sin; and (as for) him who took upon himself the main part thereof, he shall have a grievous chastisement.

بیشک جن لوگوں نے زنا کی تہمت لگائی وہ تم ہی میں سے ایک گروہ تھا تم اسے اپنے حق میں شر نہ سمجھو یہ تمہارے حق میں خیر ہے اور ہر شخص کے لئے اتنا ہی گناہ ہے جو اس نے خود کمایا ہے اور ان میں سے جس نے بڑا حصّہ لیا ہے اس کے لئے بڑا عذاب ہے۔

Why did not the believing men and the believing women, when you heard it, think well of their own people, and say: This is an evident falsehood?

آخر ایسا کیوں نہ ہوا کہ جب تم لوگوں نے اس تہمت کو سُنا تھا تو مومنین و مومنات اپنے بارے میں خیر کا گمان کرتے اور کہتے کہ یہ تو کھلا ہوا بہتان ہے۔

Why did they not bring four witnesses of it? But as they have not brought witnesses they are liars before Allah.

پھر ایسا کیوں نہ ہوا کہ یہ چار گواہ بھی لے آتے اور جب گواہ نہیں لے آئے تو یہ اللہ کے نزدیک بالکل جھوٹے ہیں۔

And were it not for Allah’s grace upon you and His mercy in this world and the hereafter, a grievous chastisement would certainly have touched you on account of the discourse which you entered into.

اور اگر خدا کا فضل دنیا و آخرت میں اور اس کی رحمت نہ ہوتی تو جو چرچا تم نے کیا تھا اس میں تمہیں بہت بڑا عذاب گرفت میں لے لیتا۔

When you received it with your tongues and spoke with your mouths what you had no knowledge of, and you deemed it an easy matter while with Allah it was grievous.

جب تم اپنی زبان سے چرچا کر رہے تھے اور اپنے منہ سے وہ بات نکال رہے تھے جس کا تمہیں علم بھی نہیں تھا اور تم اسے بہت معمولی بات سمجھ رہے تھے حالانکہ اللہ کے نزدیک وہ بہت بڑی بات تھی۔

And why did you not, when you heard it, say: It does not beseem us that we should talk of it; glory be to Thee! this is a great calumny?

اور کیوں نہ ایسا ہوا کہ جب تم لوگوں نے اس بات کو سنا تھا تو کہتے کہ ہمیں ایسی بات کہنے کا کوئی حق نہیں ہے خدایا تو پاک و بے نیاز ہے اور یہ بہت بڑا بہتان ہے۔

Allah admonishes you that you should not return to the like of it ever again if you are believers.

اللہ تم کو نصیحت کرتا ہے کہ اگر تم صاحبِ ایمان ہو تو اب ایسی حرکت دوبارہ ہرگز نہ کرنا۔

And Allah makes clear to you the communications; and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

اور اللہ تمہارے لئے اپنی نشانیوں کو واضح کرکے بیان کرتا ہے اور وہ صاحبِ علم بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے۔

Surely (as for) those who love that scandal should circulate respecting those who believe, they shall have a grievous chastisement in this world and the hereafter; and Allah knows, while you do not know.

جو لوگ یہ چاہتے ہیں کہ صاحبانِ ایمان میں بدکاری کا چرچا پھیل جائے ان کے لئے بڑا دردناک عذاب ہے دنیا میں بھی اور آخرت میں بھی اور اللہ سب کچھ جانتا ہے صرف تم نہیں جانتے ہو۔

And were it not for Allah’s grace on you and His mercy, and that Allah is Compassionate, Merciful.

اور اگر اللہ کا فضل اور اس کی رحمت تمہارے شامل حال نہ ہوتی اور وہ شفیق اور مہربان نہ ہوتا۔

O you who believe! do not follow the footsteps of the Shaitan, and whoever follows the footsteps of the Shaitan, then surely he bids the doing of indecency and evil; and were it not for Allah’s grace upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have ever been pure, but Allah purifies whom He pleases; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

ایمان والو شیطان کے نقش قدم پر نہ چلنا کہ جو شیطان کے قدم بہ قدم چلے گا اسے شیطان ہر طرح کی برائی کا حکم دے گا اور اگر تم پر اللہ کا فضل اور اس کی رحمت نہ ہوتی تو تم میں کوئی بھی پاکباز نہ ہوتا لیکن اللہ جسے چاہتا ہے پاک و پاکیزہ بنا دیتا ہے اور وہ ہر ایک کی سننے والا اور ہر ایک کے حالِ دل کا جاننے والا ہے۔

And let not those of you who possess grace and abundance swear against giving to the near of kin and the poor and those who have fled in Allah’s way, and they should pardon and turn away. Do you not love that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اور خبردار تم میں سے کوئی شخص بھی جسے خدا نے فضل اور وسعت عطا کی ہے یہ قسم نہ کھالے کہ قرابتداروں اور مسکینوں اور راہِ خدا میں ہجرت کرنے والوں کے ساتھ کوئی سلوک نہ کرے گا، ہر ایک کو معاف کرنا چاہئے اور درگزر کرنا چاہئے کیا تم یہ نہیں چاہتے ہو کہ خدا تمہارے گناہوں کو بخش دے اور اللہ بےشک بڑا بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

Surely those who accuse chaste believing women, unaware (of the evil), are cursed in this world and the hereafter, and they shall have a grievous chastisement.

یقینًا جو لوگ پاکباز اور بے خبر مومن عورتوں پر تہمت لگاتے ہیں ان پر دنیا اور آخرت دونوں جگہ لعنت کی گئی ہے اور ان کے لئے عذابِ عظیم ہے۔

On the day when their tongues and their hands and their feet shall bear witness against them as to what they did.

قیامت کے دن ان کے خلاف ان کی زبانیں اور ان کے ہاتھ پاؤں سب گواہی دیں گے کہ یہ کیا کر رہے تھے۔

On that day Allah will pay back to them in full their just reward, and they shall know that Allah is the evident Truth.

اس دن خدا سب کو پورا پورا بدلہ دے گا اور لوگوں کو معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ خدا یقینًا برحق اور حق کا ظاہر کرنے والا ہے۔

Unclean things are for unclean ones and unclean ones are for unclean things, and the good things are for good ones and the good ones are for good things, these are free from what they say; they shall have forgiveness and an honorable sustenance.

خبیث چیزیں خبیث لوگوں کے لئے ہیں اور خبیث افراد خبیث باتوں کے لئے ہیں اور پاکیزہ باتیں پاکیزہ لوگوں کے لئے ہیں اور پاکیزہ افراد پاکیزہ باتوں کے لئے ہیں یہ پاکیزہ لوگ خبیث لوگوں کے اتّہامات سے پاک و پاکیزہ ہیں اور ان کے لئے مغفرت اور باعزّت رزق ہے۔

O you who believe! Do not enter houses other than your own houses until you have asked permission and saluted their inmates; this is better for you, that you may be mindful.

ایمان والو خبردار اپنے گھروں کے علاوہ کسی کے گھر میں داخل نہ ہونا جب تک کہ صاحبِ خانہ سے اجازت نہ لے لو اور انہیں سلام نہ کر لو یہی تمہارے حق میں بہتر ہے کہ شاید تم اس سے نصیحت حاصل کر سکو۔

But if you do not find anyone therein, then do not enter them until permission is given to you; and if it is said to you: Go back, then go back; this is purer for you; and Allah is Cognizant of what you do.

پھر اگر گھر میں کوئی نہ ملے تو اس وقت تک داخل نہ ہونا جب تک اجازت نہ مل جائے اور اگر تم سے کہا جائے کہ واپس چلے جاؤ تو واپس چلے جانا کہ یہی تمہارے لئے زیادہ پاکیزہ امر ہے اور اللہ تمہارے اعمال سے خوب باخبر ہے۔

It is no sin in you that you enter uninhabited houses wherein you have your necessaries; and Allah knows what you do openly and what you hide.

تمہارے لئے کوئی حرج نہیں ہے کہ تم ایسے مکانات میں جو غیر آباد ہیں اور جن میں تمہارا کوئی سامان ہے داخل ہو جاؤ اور اللہ اس کو بھی جانتا ہے جس کا تم اظہار کرتے ہو اور اس کو بھی جانتا ہے جس کی تم پردہ پوشی کرتے ہو۔

Say to the believing men that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts; that is purer for them; surely Allah is Aware of what they do.

اور پیغمبر آپ مومنین سے کہہ دیجئے کہ اپنی نگاہوں کو نیچی رکھیں اور اپنی شرمگاہوں کی حفاظت کریں کہ یہی زیادہ پاکیزہ بات ہے اور بے شک اللہ ان کے کاروبار سے خوب باخبر ہے۔

And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants not having need (of women), or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women; and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known; and turn to Allah all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful.

اور مومنات سے کہہ دیجئے کہ وہ بھی اپنی نگاہوں کو نیچا رکھیں اور اپنی عفت کی حفاظت کریں اور اپنی زینت کا اظہار نہ کریں علاوہ اس کے جو ازخود ظاہر ہے اور اپنے دوپٹہ کو اپنے گریبان پر رکھیں اور اپنی زینت کو اپنے باپ، دادا، شوہر، شوہر کے باپ دادا، اپنی اولاد، اور اپنے شوہر کی اولاد اپنے بھائی اور بھائیوں کی اولاد اور بہنوں کی اولاد اور اپنی عورتوں اور اپنے غلام اور کنیزوں اور ایسے تابع افراد جن میں عورت کی طرف سے کوئی خواہش نہیں رہ گئی ہے اور وہ بچےّ جو عورتوں کے پردہ کی بات سے کوئی سروکار نہیں رکھتے ہیں ان سب کے علاوہ کسی پر ظاہر نہ کریں اور خبردار اپنے پاؤں پٹک کر نہ چلیں کہ جس زینت کو چھپائے ہوئے ہیں اس کا اظہار ہو جائے اور صاحبانِ ایمان تم سب اللہ کی بارگاہ میں توبہ کرتے رہو کہ شاید اسی طرح تمہیں فلاح اور نجات حاصل ہو جائے۔

And marry those among you who are single and those who are fit among your male slaves and your female slaves; if they are needy, Allah will make them free from want out of His grace; and Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing.

اور اپنے غیر شادی شدہ آزاد افراد اور اپنے غلاموں اور کنیزوں میں سے باصلاحیت افراد کے نکاح کا اہتمام کرو کہ اگر وہ فقیر بھی ہوں گے تو خدا اپنے فضل و کرم سے انہیں مالدار بنا دے گا کہ خدا بڑی وسعت والا اور صاحبِ علم ہے۔

And let those who do not find the means to marry keep chaste until Allah makes them free from want out of His grace. And (as for) those who ask for a writing from among those whom your right hands possess, give them the writing if you know any good in them, and give them of the wealth of Allah which He has given you; and do not compel your slave girls to prostitution, when they desire to keep chaste, in order to seek the frail good of this world’s life; and whoever compels them, then surely after their compulsion Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اور جو لوگ نکاح کی وسعت نہیں رکھتے ہیں وہ بھی اپنی عفت کا تحفظ کریں یہاں تک کہ خدا اپنے فضل سے انہیں غنی بنا دے اور جو غلام و کنیز مکاتبت کے طلبگار ہیں ان میں خیر دیکھو تو ان سے مکاتبت کر لو بلکہ جو مال خدا نے تمہیں دے رکھا ہے اس میں سے کچھ انہیں بھی دے دو اور خبردار اپنی کنیزوں کو اگر وہ پاکدامنی کی خواہشمند ہیں تو زنا پر مجبور نہ کرنا کہ ان سے زندگانی دنیا کا فائدہ حاصل کرنا چاہو کہ جو بھی انہیں مجبور کرے گا خدا مجبوری کے بعد ان عورتوں کے حق میں بہت زیادہ بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

And certainly We have sent to you clear communications and a description of those who have passed away before you, and an admonition to those who guard (against evil).

اور ہم نے تمہاری طرف اپنی کھلی ہوئی نشانیاں اور تم سے پہلے گزر جانے والوں کی مثال اور صاحبانِ تقویٰ کے لئے نصیحت کا سامان نازل کیا ہے۔

Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth; a likeness of His light is as a niche in which is a lamp, the lamp is in a glass, (and) the glass is as it were a brightly shining star, lit from a blessed olive-tree, neither eastern nor western, the oil whereof almost gives light though fire touch it not- light upon light- Allah guides to His light whom He pleases, and Allah sets forth parables for men, and Allah is Cognizant of all things.

اللہ آسمانوں اور زمین کا نور ہے، اس کے نور کی مثال اس طاق کی ہے جس میں چراغ ہو اور چراغ شیشہ کی قندیل میں ہو اور قندیل ایک جگمگاتے ستارے کے مانند ہو جو زیتون کے بابرکت درخت سے روشن کیا جائے جو نہ مشرق والا ہو نہ مغرب والا اور قریب ہے کہ اس کا روغن بھڑک اٹھے چاہے اسے آگ مس بھی نہ کرے یہ نور بالائے نور ہے اور اللہ اپنے نور کے لئے جسے چاہتا ہے ہدایت دے دیتا ہے اور اسی طرح مثالیں بیان کرتا ہے اور وہ ہر شے کا جاننے والا ہے۔

In houses which Allah has permitted to be exalted and that His name may be remembered in them; there glorify Him therein in the mornings and the evenings

یہ چراغ ان گھروں میں ہے جن کے بارے میں خدا کا حکم ہے کہ ان کی بلندی کا اعتراف کیا جائے اور ان میں اس کے نام کا ذکر کیا جائے کہ ان گھروں میں صبح و شام اس کی تسبیح کرنے والے ہیں۔

Men whom neither merchandise nor selling diverts from the remembrance of Allah and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of poor-rate; they fear a day in which the hearts and eyes shall turn about;

وہ مرد جنہیں کاروبار یا دیگر خرید و فروخت ذکر خدا، قیام نماز اور ادائے زکٰوۃ سے غافل نہیں کر سکتی یہ اس دن سے ڈرتے ہیں جس دن کے ہول سے دل اور نگاہیں سب الٹ جائیں گی۔

That Allah may give them the best reward of what they have done, and give them more out of His grace; and Allah gives sustenance to whom He pleases without measure.

تاکہ خدا انہیں ان کے بہترین اعمال کی جزا دے سکے اور اپنے فضل سے مزید اضافہ کر سکے اور خدا جسے چاہتا ہے رزق بے حساب عطا کرتا ہے۔

And (as for) those who disbelieve, their deeds are like the mirage in a desert, which the thirsty man deems to be water; until when he comes to it he finds it to be naught, and there he finds Allah, so He pays back to him his reckoning in full; and Allah is quick in reckoning;

اور جن لوگوں نے کفر اختیار کر لیا ان کے اعمال اس ریت کے مانند ہیں جو چٹیل میدان میں ہو اور پیاسا اسے دیکھ کر پانی تصور کرے اور جب اس کے قریب پہنچے تو کچھ نہ پائے بلکہ اس خدا کو پائے جو اس کا پورا پورا حساب کر دے کہ اللہ بہت جلد حساب کرنے والا ہے۔

Or like utter darkness in the deep sea: there covers it a wave above which is another wave, above which is a cloud, (layers of) utter darkness one above another; when he holds out his hand, he is almost unable to see it; and to whomsoever Allah does not give light, he has no light.

یا ان اعمال کی مثال اس گہرے دریا کی تاریکیوں کی ہے جسے ایک کے اوپر ایک لہر ڈھانک لے اور اس کے اوپر تہ بہ تہ بادل بھی ہوں کہ جب وہ اپنے ہاتھ کو نکالے تو تاریکی کی بنا پر کچھ نظر نہ آئے اور جس کے لئے خدا نور نہ قرار دے اس کے لئے کوئی نور نہیں ہے۔

Do you not see that Allah is He Whom do glorify all those who are in the heavens and the earth, and the (very) birds with expanded wings? He knows the prayer of each one and its glorification, and Allah is Cognizant of what they do.

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ اللہ کے لئے زمین و آسمان کی تمام مخلوقات اور فضا کے صف بستہ طائر سب تسبیح کر رہے ہیں اور سب اپنی اپنی نماز اور تسبیح سے باخبر ہیں اور اللہ بھی ان کے اعمال سے خوب باخبر ہے۔

And Allah’s is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and to Allah is the eventual coming.

اور اللہ ہی کے لئے زمین و آسمان کی ملکیت ہے اور اسی کی طرف سب کی بازگشت ہے۔

Do you not see that Allah drives along the clouds, then gathers them together, then piles them up, so that you see the rain coming forth from their midst? And He sends down of the clouds that are (like) mountains wherein is hail, afflicting therewith whom He pleases and turning it away from whom He pleases; the flash of His lightning almost takes away the sight.

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ خدا ہی ابر کو چلاتا ہے اور پھر انہیں آپس میں جوڑ کر تہ بہ تہ بنا دیتا ہے پھر تم دیکھو گے کہ اس کے درمیان سے بارش نکل رہی ہے اور وہ اسے آسمان سے برف کے پہاڑوں کے درمیان سے برساتا ہے پھر جس تک چاہتا ہے پہنچا دیتا ہے اور جس کی طرف سے چاہتا ہے موڑ دیتا ہے اس کی بجلی کی چمک اتنی تیز ہے کہ قریب ہے کہ آنکھوں کی بینائی ختم کر دے۔

Allah turns over the night and the day; most surely there is a lesson in this for those who have sight.

اللہ ہی رات اور دن کو الٹ پلٹ کرتا رہتا ہے اور یقینًا اس میں صاحبانِ بصارت کے لئے سامانِ عبرت ہے۔

And Allah has created from water every living creature: so of them is that which walks upon its belly, and of them is that which walks upon two feet, and of them is that which walks upon four; Allah creates what He pleases; surely Allah has power over all things.

اور اللہ ہی نے ہر زمین پر چلنے والے کو پانی سے پیدا کیا ہے پھر ان میں سے بعض پیٹ کے بل چلتے ہیں اور بعض دو پیروں میں چلتے ہیں اور بعض چاروں ہاتھ پیر سے چلتے ہیں اور اللہ جو چاہتا ہے پیدا کرتا ہے کہ وہ ہر شے پر قدرت رکھنے والا ہے۔

Certainly We have revealed clear communications, and Allah guides whom He pleases to the right way.

یقینًا ہم نے واضح کرنے والی آیتیں نازل کی ہیں اور اللہ جسے چاہتا ہے صراط مستقیم کی ہدایت دے دیتا ہے۔

And they say: We believe in Allah and in the apostle and we obey; then a party of them turn back after this, and these are not believers.

اور یہ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم اللہ اور رسول پر ایمان لے آئے ہیں اور ان کی اطاعت کی ہے اور اس کے بعد ان میں سے ایک فریق منہ پھیر لیتا ہے اور یہ واقعًا صاحبانِ ایمان نہیں ہیں۔

And when they are called to Allah and His Apostle that he may judge between them, lo! a party of them turn aside.

اور جب انہیں خدا و رسول کی طرف بلایا جاتا ہے کہ وہ ان کے درمیان فیصلہ کر دیں تو ان میں سے ایک فریق کنارہ کش ہو جاتا ہے۔

And if the truth be on their side, they come to him quickly, obedient.

حالانکہ اگر حق ان کے ساتھ ہوتا تو یہ سر جھکائے ہوئے چلے آتے۔

Is there in their hearts a disease, or are they in doubt, or do they fear that Allah and His Apostle will act wrongfully towards them? Nay! they themselves are the unjust.

تو کیا ان کے دلوں میں کفر کی بیماری ہے یا یہ شک میں مبتلا ہو گئے ہیں یا انہیں یہ خوف ہے کہ خدا اور رسول ان پر ظلم کریں گے حالانکہ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ یہ لوگ خود ہی ظالمین ہیں۔

The response of the believers, when they are invited to Allah and His Apostle that he may judge between them, is only to say: We hear and we obey; and these it is that are the successful.

مومنین کو تو خدا اور رسول کی طرف بلایا جاتا ہے کہ وہ فیصلہ کریں گے تو ان کا قول صرف یہ ہوتا ہے کہ ہم نے سنا اور اطاعت کی اور یہی لوگ در حقیقت فلاح پانے والے ہیں۔

And he who obeys Allah and His Apostle, and fears Allah, and is careful of (his duty to) Him, these it is that are the achievers.

اور جو بھی اللہ اور رسول کی اطاعت کرے گا اور اس کے دل میں خوفِ خدا ہو گا اور وہ پرہیز گاری اختیار کرے گا تو وہی کامیاب کہا جائے گا۔

And they swear by Allah with the most energetic of their oaths that if you command them they would certainly go forth. Say: Swear not; reasonable obedience (is desired); surely Allah is aware of what you do.

اور ان لوگوں نے باقاعدہ قسم کھائی ہے کہ آپ حکم دے دیں گے تو یہ گھر سے باہر نکل جائیں گے تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ قسم کی ضرورت نہیں ہے عمومی قانون کے مطابق اطاعت کافی ہے کہ یقینًا اللہ ان اعمال سے باخبر ہے جو تم لوگ انجام دے رہے ہو۔

Say: Obey Allah and obey the Apostle; but if you turn back, then on him rests that which is imposed on him and on you rests that which is imposed on you; and if you obey him, you are on the right way; and nothing rests on the Apostle but clear delivering (of the message).

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی اطاعت کرو پھر اگر انحراف کرو گے تو رسول پر وہ ذمہ داری ہے جو اس کے ذمہ رکھی گئی ہے اور تم پر وہ مسئولیت ہے جو تمہارے ذمہ رکھی گئی ہے اور اگر تم اطاعت کرو گے تو ہدایت پاجاؤ گے اور رسول کے ذمہ واضح تبلیغ کے سوا اور کچھ نہیں ہے۔

Allah has promised to those of you who believe and do good that He will most certainly make them rulers in the earth as He made rulers those before them, and that He will most certainly establish for them their religion which He has chosen for them, and that He will most certainly, after their fear, give them security in exchange; they shall serve Me, not associating aught with Me; and whoever is ungrateful after this, these it is who are the transgressors.

اللہ نے تم میں سے صاحبانِ ایمان و عمل صالح سے وعدہ کیا ہے کہ انہیں روئے زمین میں اسی طرح اپنا خلیفہ بنائے گا جس طرح پہلے والوں کو بنایا ہے اور ان کے لئے اس دین کو غالب بنائے گا جسے ان کے لئے پسندیدہ قرار دیا ہے اور ان کے خوف کو امن سے تبدیل کر دے گا کہ وہ سب صرف میری عبادت کریں گے اور کسی طرح کا شرک نہ کریں گے اور اس کے بعد بھی کوئی کافر ہو جائے تو در حقیقت وہی لوگ فاسق اور بدکردار ہیں۔

And keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and obey the Apostle, so that mercy may be shown to you.

اور نماز قائم کرو زکٰوۃ ادا کرو اور رسول کی اطاعت کرو کہ شاید اسی طرح تمہارے حال پر رحم کیا جائے۔

Think not that those who disbelieve shall escape in the earth, and their abode is the fire; and certainly evil is the resort!

خبردار یہ خیال نہ کرنا کہ کفر اختیار کرنے والے زمین میں ہم کو عاجز کر دینے والے ہیں ان کا ٹھکانا جہنّم ہے اور وہ بدترین انجام ہے۔

O you who believe! let those whom your right hands possess and those of you who have not attained to puberty ask permission of you three times; before the morning prayer, and when you put off your clothes at midday in summer, and after the prayer of the nightfall; these are three times of privacy for you; neither is it a sin for you nor for them besides these, some of you must go round about (waiting) upon others; thus does Allah make clear to you the communications, and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

ایمان والو تمہارے غلام و کنیز اور وہ بچے جو ابھی سن بلوغ کو نہیں پہنچے ہیں ان سب کو چاہئے کہ تمہارے پاس داخل ہونے کے لئے تین اوقات میں اجازت لیں نماز صبح سے پہلے اور دوپہر کے وقت جب تم کپڑے اتار کر آرام کرتے ہو اور نمازِ عشاء کے بعد یہ تین اوقات پردے کے ہیں اس کے بعد تمہارے لئے یا ان کے لئے کوئی حرج نہیں ہے کہ ایک دوسرے کے پاس چکر لگاتے رہیں کہ اللہ اسی طرح اپنی آیتوں کو واضح کر کے بیان کرتا ہے اور بے شک اللہ ہر شے کا جاننے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

And when the children among you have attained to puberty, let them seek permission as those before them sought permission; thus does Allah make clear to you His communications, and Allah is knowing, Wise.

اور جب تمہارے بچّے حد بلوغ کو پہنچ جائیں تو وہ بھی اسی طرح اجازت لیں جس طرح پہلے والے اجازت لیا کرتے تھے پروردگار اسی طرح تمہارے لئے اپنی آیتوں کو واضح کر کے بیان کرتا ہے کہ وہ صاحبِ علم بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے۔

And (as for) women advanced in years who do not hope for a marriage, it is no sin for them if they put off their clothes without displaying their ornaments; and if they restrain themselves, it is better for them; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

اور ضعیفی سے بیٹھ رہنے والی عورتیں جنہیں نکاح سے کوئی دلچسپی نہیں ہے ان کے لئے کوئی حرج نہیں ہے کہ وہ اپنے ظاہری کپڑوں کو الگ کر دیں بشرطیکہ زینت کی نمائش نہ کریں اور وہ بھی عفت کا تحفظ کرتی رہیں کہ یہی ان کے حق میں بھی بہتر ہے اور اللہ سب کی سننے والا اور سب کا حال جاننے والا ہے۔

There is no blame on the blind man, nor is there blame on the lame, nor is there blame on the sick, nor on yourselves that you eat from your houses, or your fathers’ houses or your mothers’ houses, or your brothers’ houses, or your sisters’ houses, or your paternal uncles’ houses, or your paternal aunts’ houses, or your maternal uncles’ houses, or your maternal aunts’ houses, or what you possess the keys of, or your friends’ (houses). It is no sin in you that you eat together or separately. So when you enter houses, greet your people with a salutation from Allah, blessed (and) goodly; thus does Allah make clear to you the communications that you may understand.

نابینا کے لئے کوئی حرج نہیں ہے اور لنگڑے آدمی کے لئے بھی کوئی حرج نہیں ہے اور مریض کے لئے بھی کوئی عیب نہیں ہے اور خود تمہارے لئے بھی کوئی گناہ نہیں ہے کہ اپنے گھروں سے یا اپنے باپ دادا کے گھروں سے یا اپنی ماں اور نانی دادی کے گھروں سے یا اپنے بھائیوں کے گھروں سے یا اپنی بہنوں کے گھروں سے یا اپنے چچاؤں کے گھروں سے یا اپنی پھوپھیوں کے گھروں سے یا اپنے ماموؤں کے گھروں سے یا اپنی خالاؤں کے گھروں سے یا جن گھروں کی کنجیاں تمہارے اختیار میں ہیں یا اپنے دوستوں کے گھروں سے کھانا کھالو، اور تمہارے لئے اس میں بھی کوئی حرج نہیں ہے کہ سب مل کر کھاؤ یا متفرق طریقہ سے کھاؤ بس جب گھروں میں داخل ہو تو کم از کم اپنے ہی اوپر سلام کرلو کہ یہ پروردگار کی طرف سے نہایت ہی مبارک اور پاکیزہ تحفہ ہے اور پروردگار اسی طرح اپنی آیتوں کو واضح طریقہ سے بیان کرتا ہے کہ شاید تم عقل سے کام لے سکو۔

Only those are believers who believe in Allah and His Apostle, and when they are with him on a momentous affair they go not away until they have asked his permission; surely they who ask your permission are they who believe in Allah and His Apostle; so when they ask your permission for some affair of theirs, give permission to whom you please of them and ask forgiveness for them from Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

مومنین صرف وہ افراد ہیں جو خدا اور رسول پر ایمان رکھتے ہوں اور جب کسی اجتماعی کام میں مصروف ہوں تو اس وقت تک کہیں نہ جائیں جب تک اجازت حاصل نہ ہو جائے بے شک جو لوگ آپ سے اجازت حاصل کرتے ہیں وہی اللہ اور رسول پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں لہذا جب آپ سے کسی خاص حالت کے لئے اجازت طلب کریں تو آپ جس کو چاہیں اجازت دے دیں اور ان کے حق میں اللہ سے استغفار بھی کریں کہ اللہ بڑا غفور اور رحیم ہے۔

Do not hold the Apostle’s calling (you) among you to be like your calling one to the other; Allah indeed knows those who steal away from among you, concealing themselves; therefore let those beware who go against his order lest a trial afflict them or there befall them a painful chastisement.

مسلمانو! خبردار رسول کو اس طرح نہ پکارا کرو جس طرح آپس میں ایک دوسرے کو پکارتے ہو اللہ ان لوگوں کو خوب جانتا ہے جو تم میں سے خاموشی سے کھسک جاتے ہیں لہذا جو لوگ حکمِ خدا کی مخالفت کرتے ہیں وہ اس امر سے ڈریں کہ ان تک کوئی فتنہ پہنچ جائے یا کوئی درد ناک عذاب نازل ہو جائے۔

Now surely Allah’s is whatever is in the heavens and the earth; He knows indeed that to which you are conforming yourselves; and on the day on which they are returned to Him He will inform them of what they did; and Allah is Cognizant of all things.

اور یاد رکھو کہ اللہ ہی کے لئے زمین و آسمان کی کل کائنات ہے اور وہ تمہارے حالات کو خوب جانتا ہے اور جس دن سب اس کی بارگاہ میں پلٹا کر لائے جائیں گے وہ سب کو ان کے اعمال کے بارے میں بتا دے گا کہ وہ ہر شے کا جاننے والا ہے۔

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
