About this day
Arbain marks the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a) and his companions at Karbala. It is a time when the faithful remember the tragedy and renew their commitment to the values for which the Imam stood. Many communities hold processions and gatherings, and the occasion is observed with great reverence across the Shia world.
