About this day
Eid al-Adha, also called Yawm al-Nahr, follows the Day of Arafa. The day itself is kept by every Twelver community, but its place in the calendar rests on the sighting of the moon, so families in the same hall can arrive a day apart depending on the marja they follow. The Centre publishes the date it observes once that sighting is confirmed.
Communities differ on this
The Centre’s congregation includes Indian, Pakistani, Irani, Hazara, Iraqi and Afghan families, and they do not all keep this on the same day. The date above is the one the Centre observes; it is not a ruling on anyone else’s.
