About this day

This is the first of the three nights of Qadr kept in Twelver fiqh, and Twelver sources record that destinies are written on it. It falls on the same night as Shab-e-Zarbat, so the evening carries worship and mourning at once, and the start of the amaal is listed separately from the majlis. The amaal include the vigil, Sura 44 and Sura 97, Dua al-Jawshan al-Kabir and holding the Quran on the head.
