جعفريات (مجموعہ اقوال حضرت امام جعفر صادقؑ ) میں صحيح سند کے ساتھ مروی ہے کہ رسول خداؐ جب سجدے میں سر رکھتے تو يہ دعا پڑھتے تھے۔۔۔

اَللّٰهُمَّ مَغْفِرَتُكَ اَوْسَعُ مِنْ ذُنُوْبِىْ وَرَحْمَتُكَ اَرْجٰى عِنْدِىْ مِنْ عَمَلِىْ فَاغْفِرْ لِىْ ذُنُوْبِىْ يَا حَيًّا لَا يَمُوْتُ۔

Allaahumma maghfiratuka awsa'u min zunoobee warahmatuka arjaa 'indee min 'amalee faghfir lee zunoobee yaa hayyan laa yamoot. auto

O Allah, Your forgiveness is greater than my sins, and Your mercy is what I hope for more than my deeds so forgive my sins, O Ever-Living One who never dies.

اے معبود! تيری بخشش ميرے گناہوں سے زياده وسيع ہے اور تيری رحمت ميرے عمل کی نسبت زياده اميد افزا ہے پس ميرے گناه بخش دے اے وه زنده جو مرے گا نہيں۔
