Yasir, the servant of Ma’mun the Abbasid ruler, has reported that when Imam Abul-Hasan Ali ibn Musa-e-Reza (a) arrived in the palace of Hamid ibn Qahtabah to live in, he took off his shirt and handed it over to Hamid, who took it and gave it to one of his she-servants to wash it. Soon after that, the she-servant returned carrying a patch. She gave it to Hamid and said, “I have found this in the pocket of Abul-Hasan.” Asking about it, Hamid said to Imam-e-Reza (a), “May Allah accept me as ransom for you! The she-servant has found a patch in your pocket. What is it?” Answering him, the Imam (a) said, “Hamid, this is a supplicatory amulet that I never put aside.” Hamid said, “Will you kindly honor us with it?” Imam-e-Reza (a) further explained, “Whoever carries this supplicatory amulet in his pocket, will be saved from tribulations and it will protect him from Satan the accursed.” Then, Imam-e-Reza (a) dictated its form to Hamid. یہ امام علی رضاؑ کا حرز (تعویذ) ہے خلیفہ مامون کے خدمت گار یاسر سے روایت ہے: جب امام حمید ابن قحطبہ کے محل میں تشریف لے گئے تو وہاں اپنا لباس اتارا اور حمید کے حوالے کیا حمید نے وہ لباس اپنی کنیز کو دے دیا کہ اسے دھوئے تھوڑی دیر کے بعد وہ واپس آئی جب کہ اس کے ہاتھ میں ایک رقعہ تھا جو اس نے حمید کو دیا اور کہا کہ یہ رقعہ میں نے ابوالحسنؑ کی جیب سے نکالا ہے توحمید نے حضرتؑ سے کہا: قربان جاؤں!اس کنیز کو آپؑ کے لباس میں سے ایک رقعہ ملا ہے آپؑ نے فرمایا: یہ وہ تعویذ ہے جسے میں ہمیشہ اپنے پاس رکھتا ہوں، حمید نے عرض کیا: کیا ممکن ہے کہ آپؑ ہمیں بھی یہ شرف عطا فرمائیں حضرتؑ نے فرمایا: یہ وہ تعویذ ہے جو شخص اسے اپنی جیب میں رکھے گا بلائیں اس سے دور ہو جائیں گی یہ تعویذ بھگائے ہوئے شیطان سے بچانے والا ہے پھر آپؑ نے حمید کے سامنے اس تعویذ کو پڑھا اور وہ تعویذ یہ ہے۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
بِسْمِ اللهِ اِنِّىْ اَعُوْذُ بِالرَّحْمٰنِ مِنْكَ اِنْ كُنْتَ تَقِيًّا اَوْ غَيْرَ تَقِىٍّ اَخَذْتُ بِاللهِ السَّمِيْعِ الْبَصِيْرِ عَلٰى سَمْعِكَ وَ بَصَرِكَ لَا سُلْطَانَ لَكَ عَلَىَّ وَلَا عَلٰى سَمْعِىْ وَلَا عَلٰى بَصَرِىْ وَلَاعَلٰى شَعْرِىْ وَلَاعَلٰى بَشَرِىْ وَلَا عَلٰى لَحْمِىْ وَلَا عَلٰى دَمِىْ وَلَا عَلٰى مُخِّىْ وَلَا عَلٰى عَصَبِىْ وَلَا عَلٰى عِظَامِىْ وَلَاعَلٰى مَالِىْ وَلَا عَلٰى مَا رَزَقَنِىْ رَبِّىْ سَتَرْتُ بَيْنِىْ وَبَيْنَكَ بِسِتْرِ النُّبُوَّةِ الَّذِى اسْتَتَرَ اَنْبِيَآءُ اللهِ بِهٖ مِنْ سَطَوَاتِ الْجَبَابِرَةِ وَالْفَرَاعِنَةِ جَبْرَئِيْلُ عَنْ يَمِيْنِىْ وَمِيْكَائِيْلُ عَنْ يَسَارِىْ وَاِسْرَافِيْلُ عَنْ وَرَآئِىْ وَمُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهٖ اَمَامِىْ وَاللهُ مُطَّلِعٌ عَلَىَّ يَمْنَعُكَ مِنِّىْ وَيَمْنَعُ الشَّيْطَانَ مِنِّىْ۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ لَا يَغْلِبْ جَهْلُهٗ اَنَاتَكَ اَنْ يَّسْتَفِزَّنِىْ وَيَسْتَخِفَّنِىْ۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِلَيْكَ الْتَجَاْتُ، اَللّٰهُمَّ اِلَيْكَ الْتَجَاْتُ، اَللّٰهُمَّ اِلَيْكَ الْتَجَاْتُ۔
Bismi allaahi innee a'oozu bir-rahmaani minka in kunta taqiyyan aw ghayra taqiyyin akhaztu billaahi as-samee'i al-baseeri 'alaa sam'ika wa basarika laa sultaana laka 'alayya walaa 'alaa sam'ee walaa 'alaa basaree walaa'alaa sha'ree walaa'alaa basharee walaa 'alaa lahmee walaa 'alaa damee walaa 'alaa mukhkhee walaa 'alaa 'asabee walaa 'alaa 'izaamee walaa'alaa maalee walaa 'alaa maa razaqanee rabbee satartu baynee wabaynaka bisitri an-nubuwwati allazee istatara anbiyaa'u allaahi bihee min satawaati al-jabaabirati wal-faraa'inati jabra'eelu 'an yameenee wameekaa'eelu 'an yasaaree wa-israafeelu 'an waraa'ee wamuhammadun sallaa allaahu 'alayhi wa-aalihee amaamee wallaahu muttali'un 'alayya yamna'uka minnee wayamna'u ash-shaytaana minnee.
Allaahumma laa yaghlib jahluhoo anaataka an yastafizzanee wayastakhiffanee.
Allaahumma ilayka altaja'tu, allaahumma ilayka altaja'tu, allaahumma ilayka altaja't.
In the Name of Allah. Surely, I seek refuge in the Beneficent Allah from you, if you are pious or impious. I seek Allah the All-hearing and All-seeing to guard me against your hearing and your sight. You have authority neither over me, nor over my hearing, nor over my sight, nor over my hair, nor over my skin, nor over my flesh, nor over my blood, nor over my brain, nor over my veins, nor over my bones, nor over my property, nor over what my Lord has provided me. I block between you and me with the blockage of prophecy with which the prophets of Allah blocked against the sways of the tyrants and the oppressive rules. Gabriel is to my right side, Michael to my left side, Seraph to my backside, Muhammad, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Household, to my front side, and Allah is overseeing me to prevent you from me and prevent Satan from me. O Allah, let not his intolerance overcome Your forbearance lest he may provoke and belittle me. O Allah, to You do I resort. O Allah, to You do I resort. O Allah, to You do I resort.
خدا کے نام سے بے شک میں تجھ سے خدا کی پناہ لیتا ہوں اگر تو پرہیزگار ہے یا پرہیزگار نہیں ہے میں نے سننے دیکھنے والے خدا کے ذریعے سے تیرے کانوں اور آنکھوں کو باندھ دیا ہے اب نہ مجھ پر تیرا کوئی بس ہے نہ میرے کانوں پر نہ میری آنکھوں پر نہ میرے بالوں پر نہ میرے پوست پر نہ میرےگوشت پر نہ میرےخون پر نہ میرے مغز پر نہ میرے پٹھوں پر نہ میری ہڈیوں پر تیرابس ہے نہ میرے مال پر اور نہ میرے رب کی دی ہوئی چیزوں پر تیرا کوئی بس ہے میں نے پردہ ڈال دیا ہے اپنے اور تیرے درمیان، نبوت کے پردے سے جس سےخدا کے نبیوں نے خود کو ڈھانپا تھا سخت گیروں اور فرعونوں کے حملوں سے چنانچہ جبرائیلؑ میری داہنی طرف اور میکائیلؑ میری بائیں طرف اسرافیلؑ میری پچھلی طرف اور محمد رسول اﷲؐمیرے آگے ہیں خدا میرا نگہدار ہے وہ مجھے تجھ سے دور کرے گا اورشیطان کو مجھ سے ہٹائے گا اے معبود!اس کی نادانی تیرے حوصلے پر غالب نہ ہو کہ وہ مجھ پر چڑھ آئے اور مجھے خوار کرے اے معبود!میں تیری پناہ میں ہوں اے معبود! میں تیری پناہ میں ہوں اے معبود! میں تیری پناہ میں ہوں۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa-aali muhammad.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آلؑ پر۔
This supplicatory amulet is connected to a miraculous story that was reported by Abul-Salt who, reporting this story, has said: One day, my master Ali-e-Reza (a) was sitting in his house when a messenger of the ruler, al-Ma’mun, came to him and informed that the ruler had summoned him to present himself before him. Ali-e-Reza (a) stood up and said to me, “Abul-Salt, it is not usual that the ruler summons me at such time unless there will be a catastrophic matter. No, by Allah! He will not be able to inflict any misfortunate thing upon me, because I carry with me a few words that came to my hand from my grandfather, the Holy Prophet (s).” I, Abul-Salt, then came out with the Imam (a) to respond to al-Ma’mun’s summons. The moment Imam ar-Reza’s eyes fell on al-Ma’mun, he said this supplicatory amulet entirely. When he was present there, the ruler looked at the Imam (a) and said, “Abul-Hasan, I have ordered one hundred thousand dirhams to be given to you. You may also write to me whatever you need.” When the Imam (a) left, al-Ma’mun looked at his back and said, “I wanted something, but Allah wanted another. However, what Allah wants must be better.”
اس حرز کے لئے ایک عجیب حکایت بیان کی گئی ہے جسے ابو صلت ہروی نے نقل کیا ہے ابو صلت کہتے ہیں : میرے مولا امام علی رضاؑ ایک روز اپنے مکان میں تشریف رکھتے تھے کہ اتنے میں خلیفہ مامون کا قاصد آپؑ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور کہنے لگا : خلیفہ آپؑ کو بلا رہے ہیں امامؑ اٹھے اور مجھ سے فرمایا : اس وقت وہ مجھے ایک سخت امر کے لئے بلوا رہا ہے لیکن قسم بخدا! وہ مجھے کوئی نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکتا ان کلمات کےسبب سے جو میرے جد بزرگوار حضرت رسولؐ سے ملے ہیں ابو صلت کا بیان ہے : امامؑ کے ساتھ میں بھی خلیفہ مامون کے پاس گیا جب حضرتؑ کی نگاہ مامون پر پڑی تو آپؑ نے یہ حرز تا آخر پڑھا پھر جب آپؑ اس کے سامنے جاکر کھڑے ہوئے تو مامون نے آپؑ کی طرف دیکھ کر کہا: ابوالحسنؑ !میں نے اپنے لوگوں کو حکم دیا ہے کہ وہ آپؑ کو ایک لاکھ درہم دیں اور آپؑ اپنی مزید ضروریات بھی لکھ دیں پھر جب امامؑ واپس ہوئے تو مامون نے آپؑ کے پسِ گردن نگاہ ڈالی اور کہا :میں نے ارادہ کیا اور خدا نے بھی ارادہ کیا تاہم خدا کا ارادہ بہت بہتر تھا۔
