Surah Nisaa (4, 176 ayat)سورۂ نساء

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

O people! be careful of (your duty to) your Lord, Who created you from a single being and created its mate of the same (kind) and spread from these two, many men and women; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, by Whom you demand one of another (your rights), and (to) the ties of relationship; surely Allah ever watches over you.

انسانو! اس پروردگار سے ڈرو جس نے تم سب کو ایک نفس سے پیدا کیا ہے اور اس کا جوڑا بھی اسی کی جنس سے پیدا کیا ہے اور پھر دونوں سے بکثرت مرد وعورت دنیا میں پھیلا دئیے ہیں اور اس خدا سے بھی ڈرو جس کے ذریعہ ایک دوسرے سے سوال کرتے ہو اور قرابتداروں کی بے تعلقی سے بھی۔ اللہ تم سب کے اعمال کا نگراں ہے۔

And give to the orphans their property, and do not substitute worthless (things) for (their) good (ones), and do not devour their property (as an addition) to your own property; this is surely a great crime.

اور یتیموں کو ان کا مال دے دو اور ان کے مال کو اپنے مال سے نہ بدلو اور ان کے مال کو اپنے مال کے ساتھ ملا کر نہ کھا جاؤ کہ یہ گناہ کبیرہ ہے۔

And if you fear that you cannot act equitably towards orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you, two and three and four; but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one or what your right hands possess; this is more proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.

اور اگر یتیموں کے بارے میں انصاف نہ کرسکنے کا خطرہ ہے تو جو عورتیں تمہیں پسند ہیں دو، تین، چار ان سے نکاح کرلو اور اگر ان میں بھی انصاف نہ کرسکنے کا خطرہ ہے تو صرف ایک، یا جو کنیزیں تمہارے ہاتھ کی ملکیت ہیں, یہ بات انصاف سے تجاوز نہ کرنے سے قریب تر ہے۔

And give women their dowries as a free gift, but if they of themselves be pleased to give up to you a portion of it, then eat it with enjoyment and with wholesome result.

عورتوں کو ان کا مہر عطا کردو پھر اگر وہ خوشی خوشی تمہیں دینا چاہیں تو شوق سے کھالو۔

And do not give away your property which Allah has made for you a (means of) support to the weak of understanding, and maintain them out of (the profits of) it, and clothe them and speak to them words of honest advice.

اور ناسمجھ لوگوں کو ان کے وہ اموال جن کو تمہارے لئے قیام کا ذریعہ بنایا گیا ہے نہ دو۔ اس میں ان کے کھانے کپڑے کا انتظام کردو اور ان سے مناسب گفتگو کرو۔

And test the orphans until they attain puberty; then if you find in them maturity of intellect, make over to them their property, and do not consume it extravagantly and hastily, lest they attain to full age; and whoever is rich, let him abstain altogether, and whoever is poor, let him eat reasonably; then when you make over to them their property, call witnesses in their presence; and Allah is enough as a Reckoner.

اور یتیموں کا امتحان لو اور جب وہ نکاح کے قابل ہوجائیں تو اگر ان میں رشید ہونے کا احساس کروتو ان کے اموال ان کے حوالے کردو اور زیادتی کے ساتھ یا اس خوف سے کہ کہیں وہ بڑے نہ ہوجائیں جلدی جلدی نہ کھاجاؤ، اور تم میں جو غنی ہے وہ ان کے مال سے پرہیز کرے اور جو فقیر ہے وہ بھی صرف بقدر مناسب کھائے۔ پھر جب ان کے اموال ان کے حوالے کرو تو گواہ بنالو اور خدا تو حساب کے لئے خود ہی کافی ہے۔

Men shall have a portion of what the parents and the near relatives leave, and women shall have a portion of what the parents and the near relatives leave, whether there is little or much of it; a stated portion.

مردوں کے لئے ان کے والدین اور اقربا کے ترکہ میں ایک حصّہ ہے اور عورتوں کے لئے بھی ان کے والدین اور اقربا کے ترکہ میں سے ایک حصّہ ہے وہ مال بہت ہو یا تھوڑا یہ حصّہ بطور فریضہ ہے۔

And when there are present at the division the relatives and the orphans and the needy, give them (something) out of it and speak to them kind words.

اور اگر تقسیم کے وقت دیگر قرابتدار، ایتام، مساکین بھی آجائیں تو انہیں بھی اس میں سے بطور رزق دے دو اور ان سے نرم اور مناسب گفتگو کرو۔

And let those fear who, should they leave behind them weakly offspring, would fear on their account, so let them be careful of (their duty to) Allah, and let them speak right words.

اور ان لوگوں کو اس بات سے ڈرنا چاہئے کہ اگر وہ خود اپنے بعد ضعیف و ناتواں اولاد چھوڑ جاتے تو کس قدر پریشان ہوتے لہذا خدا سے ڈریں اور سیدھی سیدھی گفتگو کریں۔

(As for) those who swallow the property of the orphans unjustly, surely they only swallow fire into their bellies and they shall enter burning fire.

جو لوگ ظالمانہ انداز سے یتیموں کا مال کھاجاتے ہیں وہ درحقیقت اپنے پیٹ میں آگ بھررہے ہیں اور عنقریب واصل جہنّم ہوں گے۔

Allah enjoins you concerning your children: The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females; then if they are more than two females, they shall have two-thirds of what the deceased has left, and if there is one, she shall have the half; and as for his parents, each of them shall have the sixth of what he has left if he has a child, but if he has no child and (only) his two parents inherit him, then his mother shall have the third; but if he has brothers, then his mother shall have the sixth after (the payment of) a bequest he may have bequeathed or a debt; your parents and your children, you know not which of them is the nearer to you in usefulness; this is an ordinance from Allah: Surely Allah is Knowing, Wise.

اللہ تمہاری اولاد کے بارے میں تمہیں ہدایت فرماتا ہے، ایک لڑکے کا حصّہ دو لڑکیوں کے حصّے کے برابر ہے، پس اگر لڑکیاں دو سے زائد ہوں تو ترکے کا دو تہائی ان کا حق ہے اور اگر صرف ایک لڑکی ہے تو نصف (ترکہ) اس کا ہے اور میت کی اولاد ہونے کی صورت میں والدین میں سے ہر ایک کو ترکے کا چھٹا حصّہ ملے گا اور اگر میت کی اولاد نہ ہو بلکہ صرف ماں باپ اس کے وارث ہوں تواس کی ماں کو تیسرا حصّہ ملے گا، پس اگر میت کے بھائی ہوں تو ماں کوچھٹا حصّہ ملے گا، یہ تقسیم میت کی وصیت پر عمل کرنے اور اس کے قرض کی ادائیگی کے بعد ہو گی، تمہیں نہیں معلوم تمہارے والدین اور تمہاری اولاد میں فائدے کے حوالے سے کون تمہارے زیادہ قریب ہے، یہ حصّے اللہ کے مقرر کردہ ہیں، یقینًا اللہ بڑا جاننے والا، باحکمت ہے۔

And you shall have half of what your wives leave if they have no child, but if they have a child, then you shall have a fourth of what they leave after (payment of) any bequest they may have bequeathed or a debt; and they shall have the fourth of what you leave if you have no child, but if you have a child then they shall have the eighth of what you leave after (payment of) a bequest you may have bequeathed or a debt; and if a man or a woman leaves property to be inherited by neither parents nor offspring, and he (or she) has a brother or a sister, then each of them two shall have the sixth, but if they are more than that, they shall be sharers in the third after (payment of) any bequest that may have been bequeathed or a debt that does not harm (others); this is an ordinance from Allah: and Allah is Knowing, Forbearing.

اور تمہیں اپنی بیویوں کے ترکے میں سے اگر ان کی اولاد نہ ہو نصف حصّہ ملے گا اور اگر ان کی اولاد ہو تو ان کے ترکے میں سے چوتھائی تمہارا ہو گا، یہ تقسیم میت کی وصیت پر عمل کرنے اور قرض ادا کرنے کے بعد ہو گی اور تمہاری اولاد نہ ہو تو انہیں تمہارے ترکے میں سے چوتھائی ملے گااور اگر تمہاری اولاد ہو تو انہیں تمہارے ترکے میں سے آٹھواں حصّہ ملے گا، یہ تقسیم تمہاری وصیت پر عمل کرنے اور قرض ادا کرنے کے بعد ہو گی اور اگر کوئی مرد یا عورت بے اولادہو اور والدین بھی زندہ نہ ہوں اور اس کا ایک بھائی یا ایک بہن ہو تو بھائی اور بہن میں سے ہر ایک کو چھٹا حصّہ ملے گا، پس اگر بہن بھائی ایک سے زیادہ ہوں تو سب ایک تہائی حصّے میں شریک ہوں گے، یہ تقسیم وصیت پرعمل کرنے اور قرض ادا کرنے کے بعد ہو گی، بشرطیکہ ضرر رساں نہ ہو، یہ نصیحت اللہ کی طرف سے ہے اور اللہ بڑا دانا، بردبار ہے۔

These are Allah’s limits, and whoever obeys Allah and His Apostle, He will cause him to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them; and this is the great achievement.

یہ سب الٰہی حدود ہیں اور جو اللہ و رسول کی اطاعت کرے گا خدا اسے ان جنتوں میں داخل کرے گا جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہوں گی اور وہ ان میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے اور درحقیقت یہی سب سے بڑی کامیابی ہے۔

And whoever disobeys Allah and His Apostle and goes beyond His limits, He will cause him to enter fire to abide in it, and he shall have an abasing chastisement.

اور جو خدا و رسول کی نافرمانی کرے گا اور اس کے حدود سے تجاوز کرجائے گا خدا اسے جہنّم میں داخل کردے گا اور وہ وہیں ہمیشہ رہے گا اور اس کے لئے رسوا کن عذاب ہے۔

And as for those who are guilty of an indecency from among your women, call to witnesses against them four (witnesses) from among you; then if they bear witness, confine them to the houses until death takes them away or Allah opens some way for them.

اور تمہاری عورتوں میں سے جو عورتیں بدکاری کریں ان پر اپنوں میں سے چار گواہوں کی گواہی لو اور جب گواہی دے دیں تو انہیں گھروں میں بند کردو۔ یہاں تک کہ موت آجائے یا خدا ان کے لئے کوئی راستہ مقرر کردے۔

And as for the two who are guilty of indecency from among you, give them both a punishment; then if they repent and amend, turn aside from them; surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful.

اور تم میں سے جو آدمی بدکاری کریں انہیں اذیت دو پھر اگر توبہ کرلیں اور اپنے حال کی اصلاح کرلیں تو ان سے اعراض کرو کہ خدا بہت توبہ قبول کرنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

Repentance with Allah is only for those who do evil in ignorance, then turn (to Allah) soon, so these it is to whom Allah turns (mercifully), and Allah is ever Knowing, Wise.

توبہ خدا کے ذمہ صرف ان لوگوں کے لئے ہے جو جہالت کی بناء پر برائی کرتے ہیں اور پھر فورًا توبہ کرلیتے ہیں کہ خدا ان کی توبہ کو قبول کرلیتا ہے وہ علیم و دانا بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی۔

And repentance is not for those who go on doing evil deeds, until when death comes to one of them, he says: Surely now I repent; nor (for) those who die while they are unbelievers. These are they for whom We have prepared a painful chastisement.

اور توبہ ان لوگوں کے لئے نہیں ہے جو پہلے برائیاں کرتے ہیں اور پھر جب موت سامنے آجاتی ہے تو کہتے ہیں کہ اب ہم نے توبہ کرلی اور نہ ان کے لئے ہے جو حالتِ کفر میں مرجاتے ہیں کہ ان کے لئے ہم نے بڑا دردناک عذاب مہیّا کر رکھا ہے۔

O you who believe! it is not lawful for you that you should take women as heritage against (their) will, and do not straiten them in order that you may take part of what you have given them, unless they are guilty of manifest indecency, and treat them kindly; then if you hate them, it may be that you dislike a thing while Allah has placed abundant good in it.

اے ایمان والو تمہارے لئے جائز نہیں ہے کہ جبرًا عورتوں کے وارث بن جاؤ اور خبردار انہیں منع بھی نہ کرو کہ جو کچھ ان کو دے دیا ہے اس کا کچھ حصّہ لے لو مگر یہ کہ واضح طور پر بدکاری کریں اور ان کے ساتھ نیک برتاؤ کرو اب اگر تم انہیں ناپسند بھی کرتے ہو تو ہوسکتا ہے کہ تم کسی چیز کو ناپسند کرتے ہو اور خدا اسی میں خیر کثیر قرار دے دے۔

And if you wish to have (one) wife in place of another and you have given one of them a heap of gold, then take not from it anything; would you take it by slandering (her) and (doing her) manifest wrong?

اور اگر تم ایک زوجہ کی جگہ پر دوسری زوجہ کو لانا چاہو اور ایک کو مال کثیر بھی دے چکے ہو تو خبردار اس میں سے کچھ واپس نہ لینا۔ کیا تم اس مال کو بہتان اور کھلے گناہ کے طور پر لینا چاہتے ہو۔

And how can you take it when one of you has already gone in to the other and they have made with you a firm covenant?

اور آخر کس طرح تم مال کو واپس لو گے جب کہ ایک دوسرے سے متصل ہوچکا ہے اور ان عورتوں نے تم سے بہت سخت قسم کا عہد لیا ہے۔

And marry not woman whom your fathers married, except what has already passed; this surely is indecent and hateful, and it is an evil way.

اور خبردار جن عورتوں سے تمہارے باپ دادا نے نکاح(جماع) کیا ہے ان سے نکاح نہ کرنا مگر وہ جو اب تک ہوچکا ہے، یہ کھلی ہوئی برائی اور پروردگار کا غضب اور بدترین راستہ ہے۔

Forbidden to you are your mothers and your daughters and your sisters and your paternal aunts and your maternal aunts and brothers’ daughters and sisters’ daughters and your mothers that have suckled you and your foster-sisters and mothers of your wives and your step-daughters who are in your guardianship, (born) of your wives to whom you have gone in, but if you have not gone in to them, there is no blame on you (in marrying them), and the wives of your sons who are of your own loins and that you should have two sisters together, except what has already passed; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

تمہارے اوپر تمہاری مائیں، بیٹیاں، بہنیں، پھوپھیاں، خالائیں، بھتیجیاں، بھانجیاں، وہ مائیں جنہوں نے تم کو دودھ پلایا ہے، تمہاری رضاعی(دودھ شریک) بہنیں، تمہاری بیویوں کی مائیں، تمہاری پروردہ عورتیں جو تمہاری آغوش میں ہیں اور ان عورتوں کی أولاد، جن سے تم نے دخول کیا ہے ہاں اگر دخول نہیں کیا ہے تو کوئی حرج نہیں ہے اور تمہارے فرزندوں کی بیویاں جو فرزند تمہارے صلب سے ہیں اور دو بہنوں کا ایک ساتھ جمع کرنا سب حرام کردیا گیا ہے علاوہ اس کے جو اس سے پہلے ہوچکا ہے کہ خدا بہت بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

And all married women except those whom your right hands possess (this is) Allah’s ordinance to you, and lawful for you are (all women) besides those, provided that you seek (them) with your property, taking (them) in marriage not committing fornication. Then as to those whom you profit by, give them their dowries as appointed; and there is no blame on you about what you mutually agree after what is appointed; surely Allah is Knowing, Wise.

اورتم پر حرام ہیں شادی شدہ عورتیں۔ علاوہ ان کے جو تمہاری کنیزیں بن جائیں۔ یہ خدا کا کھلا ہوا قانون ہے اور ان سب عورتوں کے علاوہ تمہارے لئے حلال ہے کہ اپنے اموال کے ذریعہ عورتوں سے رشتہ پیدا کرو عفت و پاک دامنی کے ساتھ، سفاح و زنا کے ساتھ نہیں پس جو بھی ان عورتوں سے تمتع کرے ان کی اجرت انہیں بطور فریضہ دے دے اور فریضہ کے بعد آپس میں رضا مندی ہوجائے تو کوئی حرج نہیں ہے بےشک اللہ علیم بھی ہے اور حکیم بھی ہے۔

And whoever among you has not within his power ampleness of means to marry free believing women, then (he may marry) of those whom your right hands possess from among your believing maidens; and Allah knows best your faith: you are (sprung) the one from the other; so marry them with the permission of their masters, and give them their dowries justly, they being chaste, not fornicating, nor receiving paramours; and when they are taken in marriage, then if they are guilty of indecency, they shall suffer half the punishment which is (inflicted) upon free women. This is for him among you who fears falling into evil; and that you abstain is better for you, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اور جس کے پاس اس قدر مالی وسعت نہیں ہے کہ مومن آزاد عورتوں سے نکاح کرے تو وہ مومنہ کنیز عورت سے عقد کرلے۔ خدا تمہارے ایمان سے باخبر ہے تم سب ایک دوسرے سے ہو۔ ان کنیزوں سے ان کے اہل کی اجازت سے عقد کرو اور انہیں ان کی مناسب اجرت(مہر) دے دو۔ ان کنیزوں سے عقد کرو جو عفیفہ اور پاک دامن ہوں نہ کہ کھلم کھلا زنا کار ہوں اور نہ چوری چھپے دوستی کرنے والی ہوں پھر جب عقد میں آگئیں تو اگر زنا کرائیں تو ان کے لئے آزاد عورتوں کے نصف کے برابر سزا ہے۔ یہ کنیزوں سے عقد ان کے لئے ہے جو بے صبری کا خطرہ رکھتے ہوں ورنہ صبر کرو تو تمہارے حق میں بہتر ہے اور اللہ غفور و رحیم ہے۔

Allah desires to explain to you, and to guide you into the ways of those before you, and to turn to you (mercifully), and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

وہ چاہتا ہے کہ تمہارے لئے واضح احکام بیان کردے اور تمہیں تم سے پہلے والوں کے طریقہ کار کی ہدایت کردے اور تمہاری توبہ قبول کرلے اور وہ خوب جاننے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

And Allah desires that He should turn to you (mercifully), and those who follow (their) lusts desire that you should deviate (with) a great deviation.

خدا چاہتا ہے کہ تمہاری توبہ قبول کرے اور خواہشات کی پیروی کرنے والے چاہتے ہیں کہ تمہیں بالکل ہی راہِ حق سے دور کردیں۔

Allah desires that He should make light your burdens, and man is created weak.

خدا چاہتا ہے کہ تمہارے لئے تخفیف کا سامان کردے اور انسان تو کمزور ہی پیدا کیا گیا ہے۔

O you who believe! do not devour your property among yourselves falsely, except that it be trading by your mutual consent; and do not kill your people; surely Allah is Merciful to you.

اے ایمان والو! آپس میں ایک دوسرے کے مال کو ناحق طریقہ سے نہ کھا جایا کرو، مگر یہ کہ باہمی رضامندی سے معاملت ہو اور خبردار اپنے نفس کو قتل نہ کرو، اللہ تمہارے حال پر بہت مہربان ہے۔

And whoever does this aggressively and unjustly, We will soon cast him into fire; and this is easy to Allah.

اور جو ایسا اقدام حدود سے تجاوز اور ظلم کے عنوان سے کرے گا ہم عنقریب اسے جہنّم میں ڈال دیں گے اور اللہ کے لئے یہ کام بہت آسان ہے۔

If you shun the great sins which you are forbidden, We will do away with your small sins and cause you to enter an honorable place of entering.

اگر تم بڑے بڑے گناہوں سے جن سے تمہیں روکا گیا ہے پرہیز کرلو گے تو ہم دوسرے گناہوں کی پردہ پوشی کردیں گے اور تمہیں باعزّت منزل تک پہنچادیں گے۔

And do not covet that by which Allah has made some of you excel others; men shall have the benefit of what they earn and women shall have the benefit of what they earn; and ask Allah of His grace; surely Allah knows all things.

اور خبردار جو خدا نے بعض افراد کو بعض سے کچھ زیادہ دیا ہے اس کی تمنّا اور آرزو نہ کرنا مردوں کے لئے وہ حصّہ ہے جو انہوں نے کمایا ہے اور عورتوں کے لئے وہ حصّہ ہے جو انہوں نے حاصل کیا ہے۔ اللہ سے اس کے فضل کا سوال کرو کہ وہ بےشک ہر شے کا جاننے والا ہے۔

And to everyone We have appointed heirs of what parents and near relatives leave; and as to those with whom your right hands have ratified agreements, give them their portion; surely Allah is a witness over all things.

اور جو کچھ ماں باپ یا اقربا نے چھوڑا ہے ہم نے سب کے لئے ولی و وارث مقرر کردئیے ہیں اور جن سے تم نے عہد و پیمان کیا ہے ان کا حصّہ بھی انہیں دے دو بےشک اللہ ہر شے پر گواہ اور نگراں ہے۔

Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.

مرد عورتوں کے حاکم اور نگراں ہیں ان فضیلتوں کی بنا پر جو خدا نے بعض کو بعض پر دی ہیں اور اس بنا پر کہ انہوں نے عورتوں پر اپنا مال خرچ کیا ہے۔ پس نیک عورتیں وہی ہیں جو شوہروں کی اطاعت کرنے والی اور ان کی غیبت میں ان چیزوں کی حفاظت کرنے والی ہیں جن کی خدا نے حفاظت چاہی ہے اور جن عورتوں کی نافرمانی کا خطرہ ہے انہیں موعظہ کرو۔ انہیں خواب گاہ میں الگ کردو اور مارو اور پھر اطاعت کرنے لگیں تو کوئی زیادتی کی راہ تلاش نہ کرو کہ خدا بہت بلند اور بزرگ ہے۔

And if you fear a breach between the two, then appoint a judge from his people and a judge from her people; if they both desire agreement, Allah will effect harmony between them, surely Allah is Knowing, Aware.

اور اگر دونوں کے درمیان اختلاف کا اندیشہ ہے تو ایک حَکَم مرد کی طرف سے اور ایک عورت والوں میں سے بھیجو۔ پھر وہ دونوں اصلاح چاہیں گے تو خدا ان کے درمیان ہم آہنگی پیدا کردے گا بےشک اللہ علیم بھی ہے اور خبیر بھی۔

And serve Allah and do not associate anything with Him and be good to the parents and to the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the neighbor of (your) kin and the alien neighbor, and the companion in a journey and the wayfarer and those whom your right hands possess; surely Allah does not love him who is proud, boastful.

اور اللہ کی عبادت کرو اور کسی شے کو اس کا شریک نہ بناؤ اور والدین کے ساتھ نیک برتاؤ کرو اور قرابتداروں کے ساتھ اور یتیموں، مسکینوں، قریب کے ہمسایہ، دور کے ہمسایہ، پہلو نشین، مسافر غربت زدہ، غلام و کنیز سب کے ساتھ نیک برتاؤ کرو کہ اللہ مغرور اور متکبر لوگوں کو پسند نہیں کرتا۔

Those who are stingy and bid people to be stingy and hide what Allah has given them out of His grace; and We have prepared for the unbelievers a disgraceful chastisement.

جو خود بھی بخل کرتے ہیں اور دوسروں کو بھی بخل کا حکم دیتے ہیں اور جو کچھ خدانے اپنے فضل و کرم سے عطا کیا ہے اس پر پردہ ڈالتے ہیں اور ہم نے کافروں کے واسطے رسوا کن عذاب مہیّا کر رکھا ہے۔

And those who spend their property (in alms) to be seen of the people and do not believe in Allah nor in the last day; and as for him whose associate is the Shaitan, an evil associate is he!

اور جو لوگ اپنے اموال کو لوگوں کو دکھانے کے لئے خرچ کرتے ہیں اور اللہ اور آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے ہیں انہیں معلوم ہونا چاہئے کہ جس کا شیطان ساتھی ہوجائے وہ بدترین ساتھی ہے۔

And what (harm) would it have done them if they had believed in Allah and the last day and spent (benevolently) of what Allah had given them? And Allah knows them.

ان کا کیا نقصان ہے اگر یہ اللہ اور آخرت پر ایمان لے آئیں اور جو اللہ نے بطور رزق دیا ہے اسے اس کی راہ میں خرچ کریں اور اللہ ہر ایک کو خوب جانتا ہے۔

Surely Allah does not do injustice to the weight of an atom, and if it is a good deed He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.

اللہ کسی پر ذرہ برابر ظلم نہیں کرتا۔ انسان کے پاس نیکی ہوتی ہے تو اسے دوگنا کردیتا ہے اور اپنے پاس سے اجر عظیم عطا کرتا ہے۔

How will it be, then, when We bring from every people a witness and bring you as a witness against these?

اس وقت کیا ہوگا جب ہم ہر امت کو اس کے گواہ کے ساتھ بلائیں گے اور پیغمبر آپ کو ان سب کا گواہ بناکر بلائیں گے۔

On that day will those who disbelieve and disobey the Apostle desire that the earth were levelled with them, and they shall not hide any word from Allah.

اس دن جن لوگوں نے کفر اختیار کیا ہے اور رسول کی نافرمانی کی ہے یہ خواہش کریں گے کہ اے کاش ان کے اوپر سے زمین برابر کردی جاتی اور وہ خدا سے کسی بات کو نہیں چھپا سکتے ہیں۔

O you who believe! do not go near prayer when you are intoxicated until you know (well) what you say, nor when you are under an obligation to perform a bath- unless (you are) travelling on the road- until you have washed yourselves; and if you are sick, or on a journey, or one of you come from the privy or you have touched the women, and you cannot find water, betake yourselves to pure earth, then wipe your faces and your hands; surely Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving.

ایمان والو خبر دار نشہ کی حالت میں نماز کے قریب بھی نہ جانا جب تک یہ ہوش نہ آجائے کہ تم کیا کہہ رہے ہو اور جنابت کی حالت میں بھی مگر یہ کہ راستہ سے گزر رہے ہو جب تک غسل نہ کرلو اور اگر بیمار ہو یا سفر کی حالت میں ہو اور کسی کے پیخانہ نکل آئے، یا عورتوں سے باہمی جنسی ربط قائم ہوجائے اور پانی نہ ملے تو پاک مٹی سے تیمم کرلو اس طرح کہ اپنے چہروں اور ہاتھوں پر مسح کرلو بےشک خدا بہت معاف کرنے والا اور بخشنے والا ہے۔

Have you not considered those to whom a portion of the Book has been given? They buy error and desire that you should go astray from the way.

کیا تم نے ان لوگوں کو نہیں دیکھا ہے جنہیں کتاب کا تھوڑا سا حصّہ دے دیا گیا ہے کہ وہ گمراہی کا سودا کرتے ہیں اور چاہتے ہیں کہ تم بھی راستہ سے بہک جاؤ۔

And Allah best knows your enemies; and Allah suffices as a Guardian, and Allah suffices as a Helper.

اور اللہ تمہارے دشمنوں کو خوب جانتا ہے اور وہ تمہاری سرپرستی اور مدد کے لئے کافی ہے۔

Of those who are Jews (there are those who) alter words from their places and say: We have heard and we disobey and: Hear, may you not be made to hear! and: Raina (listen to us), distorting (the word) with their tongues and taunting about religion; and if they had said (instead): We have heard and we obey, and hearken, and look at us, it would have been better for them and more upright; but Allah has cursed them on account of their unbelief, so they do not believe but a little.

یہودیوں میں وہ لوگ بھی ہیں جو کلماتِ الٰہیہ کو ان کی جگہ سے ہٹا دیتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے بات سنی اور نافرمانی کی اور تم بھی سنو مگر تمہاری بات نہ سنی جائے گی اور راعنا کہتے ہیں یہ سب زبان کے توڑ مروڑ اور دین میں طعنہ زنی کی بنا پر ہوتا ہے حالانکہ اگر یہ لوگ یہ کہتے کہ ہم نے سنا اور اطاعت کی آپ بھی سنئے اور نظرِ کرم کیجئے تو ان کے حق میں بہتر اور مناسب تھا لیکن خدا نے ان کے کفر کی بنا پر ان پر لعنت کی ہے تو یہ ایمان نہ لائیں گے مگر بہت قلیل تعداد میں۔

O you who have been given the Book! believe that which We have revealed, verifying what you have, before We alter faces then turn them on their backs, or curse them as We cursed the violaters of the Sabbath, and the command of Allah shall be executed.

اے وہ لوگ جنہیں کتاب دی گئی ہے ہمارے نازل کئے ہوئے قرآن پر ایمان لے آؤ جو تمہاری کتابوں کی تصدیق کرنے والا ہے قبل اس کے کہ ہم تمہارے چہروں کو بگاڑ کر پشت کی طرف پھیر دیں یا ان پر اس طرح لعنت کریں جس طرح ہم نے اصحابِ سبت (سنیچر والوں) پر لعنت کی ہے اور اللہ کا حکم بہرحال نافذ ہے۔

Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him, and forgives what is besides that to whomsoever He pleases; and whoever associates anything with Allah, he devises indeed a great sin.

اللہ اس بات کو معاف نہیں کرسکتا کہ اس کا شریک قرار دیا جائے اور اس کے علاوہ جس کو چاہے بخش سکتا ہے اور جو بھی اس کا شریک بنائے گا اس نے بہت بڑا گناہ کیا ہے۔

Have you not considered those who attribute purity to themselves? Nay, Allah purifies whom He pleases; and they shall not be wronged the husk of a date stone.

کیا تم نے ان لوگوں کو نہیں دیکھا جو اپنے نفس کی پاکیزگی کا اظہار کرتے ہیں، حالانکہ اللہ جس کو چاہتا ہے پاکیزہ بناتا ہے اور بندوں پر دھاگے کے برابر بھی ظلم نہیں ہوتا۔

See how they forge the lie against Allah, and this is sufficient as a manifest sin.

دیکھو تو انہوں نے کس طرح خدا پر کھلم کھلا الزام لگایا ہے اور یہی ان کے کھلم کھلا گناہ کے لئے کافی ہے۔

Have you not seen those to whom a portion of the Book has been given? They believe in idols and false deities and say of those who disbelieve: These are better guided in the path than those who believe.

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ جن لوگوں کو کتاب کا کچھ حصّہ دے دیا گیا وہ شیطان اور بتوں پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور کفّار کو بھی بتاتے ہیں کہ یہ لوگ ایمان والوں سے زیادہ سیدھے راستے پر ہیں۔

Those are they whom Allah has cursed, and whomever Allah curses you shall not find any helper for him.

یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن پر خدا نے لعنت کی ہے اور جس پر خدا لعنت کردے آپ پھر اس کا کوئی مددگار نہ پائیں گے۔

Or have they a share in the kingdom? But then they would not give to people even the speck in the date stone.

کیا ملک دنیا میں ان کا بھی کوئی حصّہ ہے کہ لوگوں کو بھوسی برابر بھی نہیں دینا چاہتے ہیں۔

Or do they envy the people for what Allah has given them of His grace? But indeed We have given to Ibrahim’s children the Book and the wisdom, and We have given them a grand kingdom.

یا وہ ان لوگوں سے حسد کرتے ہیں جنہیں خدا نے اپنے فضل و کرم سے بہت کچھ عطا کیا ہے تو پھر ہم نے آلِ ابراہیمؑ کو کتاب و حکمت اور ملک عظیم سب کچھ عطا کیا ہے۔

So of them is he who believes in him, and of them is he who turns away from him, and hell is sufficient to burn.

پھر ان میں سے بعض ان چیزوں پر ایمان لے آئے اور بعض نے انکار کردیا اور ان لوگوں کے لئے دہکتا ہوا جہنّم ہی کافی ہے۔

(As for) those who disbelieve in Our communications, We shall make them enter fire; so oft as their skins are thoroughly burned, We will change them for other skins, that they may taste the chastisement; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise.

بےشک جن لوگوں نے ہماری آیتوں کا انکار کیا ہے ہم انہیں آگ میں بھون دیں گے اور جب ایک کھال پک جائے گی تو دوسری بدل دیں گے تاکہ عذاب کا مزہ چکھتے رہیں خدا سب پر غالب اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

And (as for) those who believe and do good deeds, We will make them enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them forever; they shall have therein pure mates, and We shall make them enter a dense shade.

اور جو لوگ ایمان لے آئے اور انہوں نے نیک عمل کئے ہم عنقریب انہیں جنتوں میں داخل کریں گے جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہوں گی اور وہ ان ہی میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے ان کے لئے وہاں پاکیزہ بیویاں ہوں گی اور انہیں گھنی چھاؤں میں رکھا جائے گا۔

Surely Allah commands you to make over trusts to their owners and that when you judge between people you judge with justice; surely Allah admonishes you with what is excellent; surely Allah is Seeing, Hearing.

بےشک اللہ تمہیں حکم دیتا ہے کہ امانتوں کو ان کے اہل تک پہنچا دو اور جب کوئی فیصلہ کرو تو انصاف کے ساتھ کرو اللہ تمہیں بہترین نصیحت کرتا ہے بےشک اللہ سمیع بھی ہے اور بصیر بھی۔

O you who believe! obey Allah and obey the Apostle and those in authority from among you; then if you quarrel about anything, refer it to Allah and the Apostle, if you believe in Allah and the last day; this is better and very good in the end.

ایمان والو اللہ کی اطاعت کرو رسول اور صاحبانِ امر کی اطاعت کرو جو تم ہی میں سے ہیں پھر اگر آپس میں کسی بات میں اختلاف ہوجائے تو اسے خدا اور رسول کی طرف پلٹا دو اگر تم اللہ اور روزِ آخرت پر ایمان رکھنے والے ہو، یہی تمہارے حق میں خیر اور انجام کے اعتبار سے بہترین بات ہے۔

Have you not seen those who assert that they believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed before you? They desire to summon one another to the judgment of the Shaitan, though they were commanded to deny him, and the Shaitan desires to lead them astray into a remote error.

کیا آپ نے ان لوگوں کو نہیں دیکھا جن کا خیال یہ ہے کہ وہ آپ پر اور آپ کے پہلے نازل ہونے والی چیزوں پر ایمان لے آئے ہیں اور پھر یہ چاہتے ہیں کہ سرکش لوگوں کے پاس فیصلہ کرائیں جب کہ انہیں حکم دیا گیا ہے کہ طاغوت کا انکار کریں اور شیطان تو یہی چاہتا ہے کہ انہیں گمراہی میں دور تک کھینچ کر لے جائے۔

And when it is said to them: Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Apostle, you will see the hypocrites turning away from you with (utter) aversion.

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ حکمِ خدا اور اس کے رسول کی طرف آؤ تو تم منافقین کو دیکھو گے کہ وہ شدّت سے انکار کردیتے ہیں۔

But how will it be when misfortune befalls them on account of what their hands have sent before? Then they will come to you swearing by Allah: We did not desire (anything) but good and concord.

پس اس وقت کیا ہوگا جب ان پر ان کے اعمال کی بنا پر مصیبت نازل ہوگی اور وہ آپ کے پاس آکر خدا کی قسم کھائیں گے کہ ہمارا مقصد صرف نیکی کرنا اور اتحاد پیدا کرنا تھا۔

These are they of whom Allah knows what is in their hearts; therefore turn aside from them and admonish them, and speak to them effectual words concerning themselves.

یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے دل کا حال خدا خوب جانتا ہے لہذا آپ ان سے کنارہ کش رہیں انہیں نصیحت کریں اور ان کے دل پر اثر کرنے والی محل موقع کے مطابق بات کریں۔

And We did not send any apostle but that he should be obeyed by Allah’s permission; and had they, when they were unjust to themselves, come to you and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Apostle had (also) asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful.

اور ہم نے کسی رسول کو بھی نہیں بھیجا ہے مگر صرف اس لئے کہ حکمِ خدا سے اس کی اطاعت کی جائے اور کاش جب ان لوگوں نے اپنے نفس پر ظلم کیا تھا تو آپ کے پاس آتے اور خود بھی اپنے گناہوں کے لئے استغفار کرتے اور رسول بھی ان کے حق میں استغفار کرتا تو یہ خدا کو بڑا ہی توبہ قبول کرنے والا اور مہربان پاتے۔

But no! by your Lord! they do not believe (in reality) until they make you a judge of that which has become a matter of disagreement among them, and then do not find any straitness in their hearts as to what you have decided and submit with entire submission.

پس آپ کے پروردگار کی قسم کہ یہ ہرگز صاحبِ ایمان نہ بن سکیں گے جب تک آپ کو اپنے اختلافات میں حکم نہ بنائیں اور پھر جب آپ فیصلہ کردیں تو اپنے دل میں کسی طرح کی تنگی کا احساس نہ کریں اور آپ کے فیصلہ کے سامنے سراپا تسلیم ہوجائیں۔

And if We had prescribed for them: Lay down your lives or go forth from your homes, they would not have done it except a few of them; and if they had done what they were admonished, it would have certainly been better for them and best in strengthening (them);

اور اگر ہم ان منافقین پر فرض کردیتے کہ اپنے کو قتل کر ڈالیں یا گھر چھوڑ کر نکل جائیں تو چند افراد کے علاوہ کوئی عمل نہ کرتا حالانکہ اگر یہ اس نصیحت پر عمل کرتے تو ان کے حق میں بہتر ہی ہوتا اور ان کو زیادہ ثبات حاصل ہوتا۔

And then We would certainly have given them from Ourselves a great reward.

اور ہم انہیں اپنی طرف سے اجر عظیم بھی عطا کرتے۔

And We would certainly have guided them in the right path.

اور انہیں سیدھے راستہ کی ہدایت بھی کردیتے۔

And whoever obeys Allah and the Apostle, these are with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favors from among the prophets and the truthful and the martyrs and the good, and a goodly company are they!

اور جو بھی اللہ اور رسول کی اطاعت کرے گا وہ ان لوگوں کے ساتھ رہے گا جن پر خدا نے نعمتیں نازل کی ہیں انبیاء، صدیقین، شہداء اور صالحین اور یہی بہترین رفقاء ہیں۔

This is grace from Allah, and sufficient is Allah as the Knower.

یہ اللہ کی طرف سے فضل و کرم ہے اور خدا ہر ایک کے حالات کے علم کے لئے کافی ہے۔

O you who believe! take your precaution, then go forth in detachments or go forth in a body.

ایمان والو اپنے تحفظ کا سامان سنبھال لو اور جماعت جماعت یا اکٹھا جیسا موقع ہو سب نکل پڑو۔

And surely among you is he who would certainly hang back! If then a misfortune befalls you he says: Surely Allah conferred a benefit on me that I was not present with them.

تم میں ایسے لوگ بھی گھس گئے ہیں جو لوگوں کو روکیں گے اور اگر تم پر کوئی مصیبت آگئی تو کہیں گے کہ خدا نے ہم پر احسان کیا کہ ہم ان کے ساتھ حاضر نہیں تھے۔

And if grace from Allah come to you, he would certainly cry out, as if there had not been any friendship between you and him: Would that I had been with them, then I should have attained a mighty good fortune.

اور اگر تمہیں خدائی فضل و کرم مل گیا تو اس طرح جیسے تمہارے ان کے درمیان کبھی دوستی ہی نہیں تھی کہنے لگیں گے کہ کاش ہم بھی ان کے ساتھ ہوتے اور کامیابی کی عظیم منزل پر فائز ہوجاتے۔

Therefore let those fight in the way of Allah, who sell this world’s life for the hereafter; and whoever fights in the way of Allah, then be he slain or be he victorious, We shall grant him a mighty reward.

اب ضرورت ہے کہ راہِ خدا میں وہ لوگ جہاد کریں جو زندگانی دنیا کو آخرت کے عوض بیچ ڈالتے ہیں اور جو بھی راہِ خدا میں جہاد کرے گا وہ قتل ہوجائے یا غالب آجائے دونوں صورتوں میں ہم اسے اجر عظیم عطا کریں گے۔

And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (of) those who say: Our Lord! cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper.

اور آخر تمہیں کیا ہوگیا ہے کہ تم اللہ کی راہ میں اور ان کمزور مردوں، عورتوں اور بچوں کے لئے جہاد نہیں کرتے ہو جنہیں کمزور بناکر رکھا گیا ہے اور جو برابر دعا کرتے ہیں کہ خدایا ہمیں اس قریہ سے نجات دے دے جس کے باشندے ظالم ہیں اور ہمارے لئے کوئی سرپرست اور اپنی طرف سے مددگار قرار دے دے۔

Those who believe fight in the way of Allah, and those who disbelieve fight in the way of the Shaitan. Fight therefore against the friends of the Shaitan; surely the strategy of the Shaitan is weak.

ایمان والے ہمیشہ اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کرتے ہیں اور جو کافر ہیں وہ ہمیشہ طاغوت کی راہ میں لڑتے ہیں لہذا تم شیطان کے ساتھیوں سے جہاد کرو بےشک شیطان کا مکر بہت کمزور ہوتا ہے۔

Have you not seen those to whom it was said: Withhold your hands, and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate; but when fighting is prescribed for them, lo! a party of them fear men as they ought to have feared Allah, or (even) with a greater fear, and say: Our Lord! why hast Thou ordained fighting for us? Wherefore didst Thou not grant us a delay to a near end? Say: The provision of this world is short, and the hereafter is better for him who guards (against evil); and you shall not be wronged the husk of a date stone.

کیا تم نے ان لوگوں کو نہیں دیکھا جن سے کہا گیا تھا کہ ہاتھ روکے رکھو اور نماز قائم کرو، زکوٰۃادا کرو (تو بے چین ہوگئے) اور جب جہاد واجب کردیا گیا تو ایک گروہ لوگوں (دشمنوں) سے اس قدر ڈرتا تھا جیسے خدا سے ڈرتا ہو یا اس سے بھی کچھ زیادہ اور یہ کہتے ہیں کہ خدایا اتنی جلدی کیوں جہاد واجب کردیا کاش تھوڑی مدت تک اور ٹال دیاجاتا پیغمبرآپ کہہ دیجئے کہ دنیا کا سرمایہ بہت تھوڑا ہے اور آخرت صاحبانِ تقویٰ کے لئے بہترین جگہ ہے اور تم پر دھاگہ برابر بھی ظلم نہیں کیا جائے گا۔

Wherever you are, death will overtake you, though you are in lofty towers, and if a benefit comes to them, they say: This is from Allah; and if a misfortune befalls them, they say: This is from you. Say: All is from Allah, but what is the matter with these people that they do not make approach to understanding what is told (them)?

تم جہاں بھی رہو گے موت تمہیں پالے گی چاہے مستحکم قلعوں میں کیوں نہ بند ہوجاؤ۔ ان لوگوں کا حال یہ ہے کہ اچھے حالات پیدا ہوتے ہیں تو کہتے ہیں کہ یہ خدا کی طرف سے ہے اور مصیبت آتی ہے تو کہتے ہیں کہ یہ آپ کی طرف سے ہے تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ سب خدا کی طرف سے ہے پھر آخر اس قوم کو کیا ہوگیا ہے کہ یہ کوئی بات سمجھتی ہی نہیں ہے۔

Whatever benefit comes to you (O man!), it is from Allah, and whatever misfortune befalls you, it is from yourself, and We have sent you (O Prophet!), to mankind as an apostle; and Allah is sufficient as a witness.

تم تک جو بھی اچھائی اور کامیابی پہنچی ہے وہ اللہ کی طرف سے ہے اور جو بھی برائی پہنچی ہے وہ خود تمہاری طرف سے ہے، اور اے پیغمبرہم نے آپ کو لوگوں کے لئے رسول بنایا ہے اور خدا گواہی کے لئے کافی ہے۔

Whoever obeys the Apostle, he indeed obeys Allah, and whoever turns back, so We have not sent you as a keeper over them.

جو رسول کی اطاعت کرے گا اس نے اللہ کی اطاعت کی اور جو منہ موڑ لے گا تو ہم نے آپ کو اس کا ذمہ دار بناکر نہیں بھیجا ہے۔

And they say: Obedience. But when they go out from your presence, a party of them decide by night upon doing otherwise than what you say; and Allah writes down what they decide by night, therefore turn aside from them and trust in Allah, and Allah is sufficient as a protector.

اور یہ لوگ پہلے اطاعت کی بات کرتے ہیں، پھر جب آپ کے پاس سے باہر نکلتے ہیں تو ایک گروہ اپنے قول کے خلاف تدبیریں کرتا ہے اور خدا ان کی ان باتوں کو لکھ رہا ہے۔ آپ ان سے اعراض کریں (ان کے حال پر چھوڑ دے) اور خدا پر بھروسہ کریں اور خدا اس ذمہ داری کے لئے کافی ہے۔

Do they not then meditate on the Quran? And if it were from any other than Allah, they would have found in it many a discrepancy.

کیا یہ لوگ قرآن میں غور و فکر نہیں کرتے ہیں کہ اگر وہ غیر خدا کی طرف سے ہوتا تو اس میں بڑا اختلاف ہوتا۔

And when there comes to them news of security or fear they spread it abroad; and if they had referred it to the Apostle and to those in authority among them, those among them who can search out the knowledge of it would have known it, and were it not for the grace of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have certainly followed the Shaitan save a few.

اور جب ان کے پاس امن یا خوف کی خبر آتی ہے تو فورًا نشر کردیتے ہیں حالانکہ اگر رسول اور صاحبانِ امر کی طرف پلٹا دیتے تو ان سے استفادہ کرنے والے حقیقت حال کا علم پیدا کرلیتے اور اگر تم لوگوں پر خدا کا فضل اور اسکی رحمت نہ ہوتی تو چند افراد کے علاوہ سب شیطان کا اتباع کرلیتے۔

Fight then in Allah’s way; this is not imposed on you except in relation to yourself, and rouse the believers to ardor; maybe Allah will restrain the fighting of those who disbelieve, and Allah is strongest in prowess and strongest to give an exemplary punishment.

اب آپ راہِ خدا میں جہاد کریں اور آپ اپنے نفس کے علاوہ دوسروں کے مکلف (ذمہ دار) نہیں ہیں اور مومنین کو جہاد پر آمادہ کریں۔ عنقریب خدا کفار کے شر کو روک دے گا اور اللہ انتہائی طاقت والا اور سخت سزا دینے والا ہے۔

Whoever joins himself (to another) in a good cause shall have a share of it, and whoever joins himself (to another) in an evil cause shall have the responsibility of it, and Allah controls all things.

جو شخص اچھی سفارش کرے گا اسے اس کا حصّہ ملے گااور جو بری سفارش کرے گا اسے اس میں سے حصّہ ملے گا اور اللہ ہر شے پر اقتدار رکھنے والا ہے۔

And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet with a better (greeting) than it or return it; surely Allah takes account of all things.

اور جب تم لوگوں کو کوئی تحفہ(سلام) پیش کیا جائے تو اس سے بہتر یا کم سے کم ویسا ہی واپس کرو کہ بےشک اللہ ہر شے کا حساب کرنے والا ہے۔

Allah, there is no god but He- He will most certainly gather you together on the resurrection day, there is no doubt in it; and who is more true in word than Allah?

اللہ وہ خدا ہے جس کے علاوہ کوئی معبود نہیں ہے، وہ تم سب کو روزِ قیامت جمع کرے گا اور اس میں کوئی شک نہیں ہے اور اللہ سے زیادہ سچی بات کون کرنے والا ہے۔

What is the matter with you, then, that you have become two parties about the hypocrites, while Allah has made them return (to unbelief) for what they have earned? Do you wish to guide him whom Allah has caused to err? And whomsoever Allah causes to err, you shall by no means find a way for him.

آخر تمہیں کیا ہوگیا ہے کہ منافقین کے بارے میں دو گروہ ہوگئے ہو جب کہ اللہ نے ان کے اعمال کی بنا پر انہیں اُلٹ دیا ہے کیا تم اسے ہدایت دینا چاہتے ہو خدا نے جسے گمراہی پر چھوڑ دیا ہے۔ حالانکہ جسے خدا گمراہی میں چھوڑ دے اس کے لئے تم کوئی راستہ نہیں نکال سکتے۔

They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah’s way; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.

یہ منافقین چاہتے ہیں کہ تم بھی ان کی طرح کافر ہوجاؤ اور سب برابر ہوجائیں تو خبردار تم انہیں اپنا دوست نہ بنانا جب تک راہِ خدا میں ہجرت نہ کریں پھر یہ انحراف کریں تو انہیں گرفتار کرلو اور جہاں پا جاؤ قتل کردو اور خبر دار ان میں سے کسی کو اپنا دوست اور مددگار نہ بنانا۔

Except those who reach a people between whom and you there is an alliance, or who come to you, their hearts shrinking from fighting you or fighting their own people; and if Allah had pleased, He would have given them power over you, so that they should have certainly fought you; therefore if they withdraw from you and do not fight you and offer you peace, then Allah has not given you a way against them.

علاوہ ان کے جو کسی ایسی قوم سے مل جائیں جن کے اور تمہارے درمیان معاہدہ ہو یا وہ تمہارے پاس دل تنگ ہوکر آجائیں کہ نہ تم سے جنگ کریں گے اور نہ اپنی قوم سے۔ اور اگر خدا چاہتا تو ان کو تمہارے اوپر مسلّط کردیتا اور وہ تم سے بھی جنگ کرتے لہذا اگر تم سے الگ رہیں اور جنگ نہ کریں اور صلح کا پیغام دیں تو خدا نے تمہارے لئے ان کے اوپر کوئی راہ نہیں قرار دی ہے۔

You will find others who desire that they should be safe from you and secure from their own people; as often as they are sent back to the mischief they get thrown into it headlong; therefore if they do not withdraw from you, and (do not) offer you peace and restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and against these We have given you a clear authority.

عنقریب تم ایک اور جماعت کو پاؤ گے جو چاہتے ہیں کہ تم سے بھی محفوظ رہیں اور اپنی قوم سے بھی۔ یہ جب بھی فتنہ کی طرف بلائے جاتے ہیں الٹے اس میں اوندھے منہ گر پڑتے ہیں لہذا یہ اگر تم سے الگ نہ ہوں اور صلح کا پیغام نہ دیں اور ہاتھ نہ روکیں تو انہیں گرفتار کرلو اور جہاں پاؤ قتل کردو یہی وہ ہیں کہ جن پر تمہیں کھلا غلبہ عطا کیا گیا ہے۔

And it does not behoove a believer to kill a believer except by mistake, and whoever kills a believer by mistake, he should free a believing slave, and blood-money should be paid to his people unless they remit it as alms; but if he be from a tribe hostile to you and he is a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (suffices), and if he is from a tribe between whom and you there is a covenant, the blood-money should be paid to his people along with the freeing of a believing slave; but he who cannot find (a slave) should fast for two months successively: a penance from Allah, and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

اور کسی مومن کو یہ حق نہیں ہے کہ وہ کسی مومن کو قتل کردے مگر غلطی سے اور جو غلطی سے قتل کردے اسے چاہئے کہ ایک غلام آزاد کرے اور مقتول کے وارثوں کو دیت دے مگر یہ کہ وہ معاف کردیں پھر اگر مقتول ایسی قوم سے ہے جو تمہاری دشمن ہے اور(اتفاق سے) خود مومین ہے تو صرف غلام آزاد کرنا ہوگا اور اگر ایسی قوم کا فرد ہے جس کا تم سے معاہدہ ہے تو اس کے اہل کو دیت دینا پڑے گی اور ایک مومین غلام آزاد کرنا ہوگا اور غلام نہ ملے تو دو ماہ کے مسلسل روزے رکھنا ہوں گے یہی اللہ کی طرف سے توبہ کا راستہ ہے اور اللہ سب کی نیتوں سے باخبر ہے اور اپنے احکام میں صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے۔

And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his punishment is hell; he shall abide in it, and Allah will send His wrath on him and curse him and prepare for him a painful chastisement.

اور جو بھی کسی مومین کو قصدًا قتل کردے گا اس کی جزا جہنّم ہے۔ اسی میں ہمیشہ رہنا ہے اور اس پر خدا کا غضب بھی ہے اور خدا لعنت بھی کرتا ہے اور اس نے اس کے لئے عذابِ عظیم بھی مہیّا کررکھا ہے۔

O you who believe! when you go to war in Allah’s way, make investigation, and do not say to anyone who offers you peace: You are not a believer. Do you seek goods of this world’s life! But with Allah there are abundant gains; you too were such before, then Allah conferred a benefit on you; therefore make investigation; surely Allah is aware of what you do.

ایمان والو جب تم راہِ خدا میں جہاد کے لئے سفر کرو تو پہلے تحقیق کرلو اور خبردار جو اسلام کی پیش کش کرے اس سے یہ نہ کہنا کہ تو مومین نہیں ہے کہ اس طرح تم زندگانی دنیا کا چند روزہ سرمایہ چاہتے ہو اور خدا کے پاس بکثرت فوائد پائے جاتے ہیں۔ آخر تم بھی تو پہلے ایسے ہی کافر تھے، خدا نے تم پر احسان کیا کہ تمہارے اسلام کو قبول کرلیا (اور دل چیرنے کی شرط نہیں لگائی) تو اب تم بھی اقدام سے پہلے تحقیق کرو کہ خدا تمہارے اعمال سے خوب باخبر ہے۔

The holders back from among the believers, not having any injury, and those who strive hard in Allah’s way with their property and their persons are not equal; Allah has made the strivers with their property and their persons to excel the holders back a (high) degree, and to each (class) Allah has promised good; and Allah shall grant to the strivers above the holders back a mighty reward:

اندھے بیمار اور معذور افراد کے علاوہ گھر بیٹھ رہنے والے صاحبانِ ایمان ہرگز ان لوگوں کے برابر نہیں ہوسکتے جو راہِ خدا میں اپنے جان و مال سے جہاد کرنے والے ہیں۔ اللہ نے اپنے مال اور جان سے جہاد کرنے والوں کو بیٹھ رہنے والوں پر امتیاز عنایت کئے ہیں اور ہر ایک سے نیکی کا وعدہ کیا ہے اور مجاہدین کو بیٹھ رہنے والوں کے مقابلہ میں اجر عظیم عطا کیا ہے۔

(High) degrees from Him and protection and mercy, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اس کی طرف سے درجات مغفرت اور رحمت ہے اور وہ بڑا بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

Surely (as for) those whom the angels cause to die while they are unjust to their souls, they shall say: In what state were you? They shall say: We were weak in the earth. They shall say: Was not Allah’s earth spacious, so that you should have migrated therein? So these it is whose abode is hell, and it is an evil resort.

جن لوگوں کو ملائکہ نے اس حال میں اٹھایا کہ وہ اپنے نفس پر ظلم کرنے والے تھے ان سے پوچھا کہ تم کس حال میں تھے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم زمین میں کمزور بنادئے گئے تھے، ملائکہ نے کہا کہ کیا زمین خدا وسیع نہیں تھی کہ تم ہجرت کرجاتے۔ ان لوگوں کا ٹھکاناجہّنم ہے اور وہ بدترین منزل ہے۔

Except the weak from among the men and the women and the children who have not in their power the means nor can they find a way (to escape);

علاوہ ان کمزور مردوں، عورتوں اور بچوں کے جن کے اختیار میں کوئی تدبیر نہ تھی اور وہ کوئی راستہ نہ نکال سکتے تھے۔

So these, it may be, Allah will pardon them, and Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving.

یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کو عنقریب خدا معاف کردے گا کہ وہ بڑا معاف کرنے والا اور بخشنے والا ہے۔

And whoever flies in Allah’s way, he will find in the earth many a place of refuge and abundant resources, and whoever goes forth from his house flying to Allah and His Apostle, and then death overtakes him, his reward is indeed with Allah and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اور جو بھی راہِ خدا میں ہجرت کرے گا وہ زمین میں بہت سے ٹھکانے اور وسعت پائے گا اور جو اپنے گھر سے خدا و رسول کی طرف ہجرت کے ارادہ سے نکلے گا اس کے بعد اسے موت بھی آجائے گی تو اس کا اجر اللہ کے ذمہ ہے اور اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا مہربان ہے۔

And when you journey in the earth, there is no blame on you if you shorten the prayer, if you fear that those who disbelieve will cause you distress, surely the unbelievers are your open enemy.

اور جب تم زمین میں سفر کرو تو تمہارے لئے کوئی حرج نہیں ہے کہ اپنی نمازیں قصر کردو اگر تمہیں کفار کے حملہ کردینے کا خوف ہے کہ کفار تمہارے لئے کھلے ہوئے دشمن ہیں۔

And when you are among them and keep up the prayer for them, let a party of them stand up with you, and let them take their arms; then when they have prostrated themselves let them go to your rear, and let another party who have not prayed come forward and pray with you, and let them take their precautions and their arms; (for) those who disbelieve desire that you may be careless of your arms and your luggage, so that they may then turn upon you with a sudden united attack, and there is no blame on you, if you are annoyed with rain or if you are sick, that you lay down your arms, and take your precautions; surely Allah has prepared a disgraceful chastisement for the unbelievers.

اور جب آپ مجاہدین کے درمیان ہوں اور ان کے لئے نماز قائم کریں تو ان کی ایک جماعت آپ کے ساتھ نماز پڑھے اور اپنے اسلحہ ساتھ رکھے اس کے بعد جب یہ سجدہ کرچکیں تو یہ پشت پناہ بن جائیں اور دوسری جماعت جس نے نماز نہیں پڑھی ہے وہ آکر شریکِ نماز ہوجائے اور اپنے اسلحہ اور بچاؤ کے سامان اپنے ساتھ رکھے۔ کفار کی خواہش یہی ہے کہ تم اپنے سازو سامان اور اسلحہ سے غافل ہوجاؤ تو یہ یکبارگی (اچانک) حملہ کردیں، ہاں اگر بارش یا بیماری کی وجہ سے اسلحہ نہ اٹھاسکتے ہو تو کوئی حرج نہیں ہے کہ اسلحہ رکھ دو لیکن بچاؤ کا سامان ساتھ رکھو۔ اللہ نے کفر کرنے والوں کے لئے رسوا کن عذاب مہیّا کررکھا ہے۔

Then when you have finished the prayer, remember Allah standing and sitting and reclining; but when you are secure (from danger) keep up prayer; surely prayer is a timed ordinance for the believers.

اس کے بعد جب یہ نماز تمام ہوجائے تو کھڑے، بیٹھے، لیٹے ہمیشہ خدا کو یاد کرتے رہو اور جب اطمینان حاصل ہوجائے تو باقاعدہ نماز قائم کرو کہ نماز صاحبانِ ایمان کے لئے ایک وقت معین کے ساتھ فریضہ ہے۔

And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain, and you hope from Allah what they do not hope; and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

اور خبردار دشمنوں کا پیچھا کرنے میں سستی سے کام نہ لینا کہ اگر تمہیں کوئی بھی رنج پہنچتا ہے تو تمہاری طرح کفار کو بھی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے اور تم اللہ سے وہ امیدیں رکھتے ہو جو انہیں حاصل نہیں ہیں اور اللہ ہر ایک کی نیت کا جاننے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

Surely We have revealed the Book to you with the truth that you may judge between people by means of that which Allah has taught you; and be not an advocate on behalf of the treacherous.

ہم نے آپ کی طرف یہ برحق کتاب نازل کی ہے کہ لوگوں کے درمیان حکم خدا کے مطابق فیصلہ کریں اور خیانت کاروں کے طرفدار نہ بنیں۔

And ask forgiveness of Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اور اللہ سے استغفار کیجئے کہ اللہ بڑا غفور و رحیم ہے۔

And do not plead on behalf of those who act unfaithfully to their souls; surely Allah does not love him who is treacherous, sinful;

اور خبردار جو لوگ خود اپنے نفس سے خیانت کرتے ہیں ان کی طرف سے دفاع نہ کیجئے گا کہ خدا خیانت کار مجرموں کو ہرگز دوست نہیں رکھتا ہے۔

They hide themselves from men and do not hide themselves from Allah, and He is with them when they meditate by night words which please Him not, and Allah encompasses what they do.

یہ لوگ انسانوں کی نظروں سے اپنے کو چھپاتے ہیں اور خدا سے نہیں چھپ سکتے ہیں جب کہ وہ اس وقت بھی ان کے ساتھ رہتا ہے جب وہ ناپسندیدہ باتوں کی سازش کرتے ہیں اور خدا ان کے تمام اعمال کا احاطہ کئے ہوئے ہے۔

Behold! you are they who (may) plead for them in this world’s life, but who will plead for them with Allah on the resurrection day, or who shall be their protector?

ہوشیار، اس وقت تم نے زندگانی دنیا میں ان کی طرف سے جھگڑا شروع بھی کردیا تو اب روزِ قیامت ان کی طرف سے اللہ سے کون جھگڑا کرے گا اور کون ان کا وکیل اور طرفدار بنے گا۔

And whoever does evil or acts unjustly to his soul, then asks forgiveness of Allah, he shall find Allah Forgiving, Merciful.

اور جو بھی کسی کے ساتھ برائی کرے گا یا اپنے نفس پر ظلم کرے گا اس کے بعد استغفار کرے گا تو خدا کو غفور اور رحیم پائے گا۔

And whoever commits a sin, he only commits it against his own soul; and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

اور جو قصدًا گناہ کرتا ہے وہ اپنے ہی خلاف کرتا ہے اور خدا سب کا جاننے والا ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے۔

And whoever commits a fault or a sin, then accuses of it one innocent, he indeed takes upon himself the burden of a calumny and a manifest sin.

اور جو شخص بھی کوئی غلطی یا گناہ کرکے دوسرے بے گناہ کے سر ڈال دیتا ہے وہ بہت بڑے بہتان اور کھلے گناہ کا ذمہ دار ہوتا ہے۔

And were it not for Allah’s grace upon you and His mercy, a party of them had certainly designed to bring you to perdition and they do not bring (aught) to perdition but their own souls, and they shall not harm you in any way, and Allah has revealed to you the Book and the wisdom, and He has taught you what you did not know, and Allah’s grace on you is very great.

اگر آپ پر فضلِ خدا اور رحمتِ پروردگار کا سایہ نہ ہوتا تو ان کی ایک جماعت نے آپ کوبہکانے کا ارادہ کرلیا تھا اور یہ اپنے علاوہ کسی کو گمراہ نہیں کرسکتے اور آپ کو کوئی تکلیف نہیں پہنچاسکتے اور اللہ نے آپ پر کتاب اور حکمت نازل کی ہے اور آپ کو ان تمام باتوں کا علم دے دیا ہے جن کا علم نہ تھا اور آپ پر خدا کا بہت بڑا فضل ہے۔

There is no good in most of their secret counsels except (in his) who enjoins charity or goodness or reconciliation between people; and whoever does this seeking Allah’s pleasure, We will give him a mighty reward.

ان لوگوں کی اکثر راز کی باتوں میں کوئی خیر نہیں ہے مگر وہ شخص جو کسی صدقہ، کارِ خیر یا لوگوں کے درمیان اصلاح کا حکم دے اور جو بھی یہ سارے کام رضائے الٰہی کی طلب میں انجام دے گا ہم اسے اجر عظیم عطا کریں گے۔

And whoever acts hostilely to the Apostle after that guidance has become manifest to him, and follows other than the way of the believers, We will turn him to that to which he has (himself) turned and make him enter hell; and it is an evil resort.

اور جو شخص بھی ہدایت کے واضح ہوجانے کے بعد رسول سے اختلاف کرے گا اور مومنین کے راستہ کے علاوہ کوئی دوسرا راستہ اختیار کرے گا اسے ہم ادھر ہی پھیر دیں گے جدھر وہ پھر گیا ہے اور جہنّم میں جھونک دیں گے جو بدترین ٹھکانا ہے۔

Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him, and He forgives what is besides this to whom He pleases; and whoever associates anything with Allah, he indeed strays off into a remote error.

خدا اس بات کو معاف نہیں کرسکتا کہ اس کا شریک قرار دیا جائے اور اس کے علاوہ جس کو چاہے بخش سکتا ہے اور جو خدا کا شریک قرار دے گا وہ گمراہی میں بہت دور تک چلا گیا ہے۔

They do not call besides Him on anything but idols, and they do not call on anything but a rebellious Shaitan.

یہ لوگ خدا کو چھوڑ کر بس عورتوں کی پرستش کرتے ہیں اور سرکش شیطان کو آواز دیتے ہیں۔

Allah has cursed him; and he said: Most certainly I will take of Thy servants an appointed portion:

جس پر خدا کی لعنت ہے اور اس نے خدا سے بھی کہہ دیا کہ میں تیرے بندوں میں سے ایک مقرر حصّہ ضرور لے لوں گا۔

And most certainly I will lead them astray and excite in them vain desires, and bid them so that they shall slit the ears of the cattle, and most certainly I will bid them so that they shall alter Allah’s creation; and whoever takes the Shaitan for a guardian rather than Allah he indeed shall suffer a manifest loss.

اور انہیں گمراہ کروں گا، امیدیں دلاؤں گا اور ایسے احکام دوں گا کہ وہ جانوروں کے کان کاٹ ڈالیں گے پھر حکم دوں گا تو اللہ کی مقررہ خلقت کو تبدیل کردیں گے اور جو خد اکو چھوڑ کر شیطان کو اپنا ولی اور سرپرست بنائے گا وہ کھلے ہوئے خسارہ میں رہے گا۔

He gives them promises and excites vain desires in them; and the Shaitan does not promise them but to deceive.

شیطان ان سے وعدہ کرتا ہے اور انہیں امیدیں دلاتا ہے اور وہ جو بھی وعدہ کرتاہے وہ دھوکہ کے سوا کچھ نہیں ہے۔

These are they whose abode is hell, and they shall not find any refuge from it.

یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کا انجام جہنّم ہے اور وہ اس سے چھٹکارا نہیں پاسکتے ہیں۔

And (as for) those who believe and do good, We will make them enter into gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide therein forever; (it is) a promise of Allah, true (indeed), and who is truer of word than Allah?

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور انہوں نے نیک اعمال کئے ہم عنقریب انہیں ان جنتّوں میں داخل کریں گے جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہوں گی وہ ان میں ہمیشہ ہمیشہ رہیں گے۔ یہ خدا کا برحق وعدہ ہے اور خدا سے زیادہ راست گو کون ہوسکتا ہے۔

(This) shall not be in accordance with your vain desires nor in accordance with the vain desires of the followers of the Book; whoever does evil, he shall be requited with it, and besides Allah he will find for himself neither a guardian nor a helper.

کوئی کام نہ تمہاری امیدوں سے بنے گا نہ اہلِ کتاب کی امیدوں سے۔ جو بھی بُرا کام کرے گا اس کی سزا بہرحال ملے گی اور خدا کے علاوہ اسے کوئی سرپرست اور مددگار بھی نہیں مل سکتا ہے۔

And whoever does good deeds whether male or female and he (or she) is a believer- these shall enter the garden, and they shall not be dealt with a jot unjustly.

اور جو بھی نیک کام کرے گا چاہے وہ مرد ہو یا عورت بشرطیکہ وہ صاحبِ ایمان بھی ہو، ان سب کو جنّت میں داخل کیا جائے گا اور ان پر ذرّہ برابر ظلم نہیں کیا جائے گا۔

And who has a better religion than he who submits himself entirely to Allah? And he is the doer of good (to others) and follows the faith of Ibrahim, the upright one, and Allah took Ibrahim as a friend.

اور اس سے اچھا دیندار کون ہوسکتا ہے جو اپنا رخ خد اکی طرف رکھے اور نیک کردار بھی ہو اور ملتِ ابراہیمؑ کا اتباع کرے جو باطل سے کترانے والے تھے اور اللہ نے ابراہیمؑ کو اپنا خلیل اور دوست بنایا ہے۔

And whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah’s; and Allah encompasses all things.

اور اللہ ہی کے لئے زمین و آسمان کی کل کائنات ہے اور اللہ ہر شے پر احاطہ رکھنے والا ہے۔

And they ask you a decision about women. Say: Allah makes known to you His decision concerning them, and that which is recited to you in the Book concerning female orphans whom you do not give what is appointed for them while you desire to marry them, and concerning the weak among children, and that you should deal towards orphans with equity; and whatever good you do, Allah surely knows it.

پیغمبر یہ لوگ آپ سے یتیم لڑکیوں کے بارے میں حکمِ خدا دریافت کرتے ہیں تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ ان کے بارے میں خدا اجازت دیتا ہے اور جو کتاب میں تمہارے سامنے حکم بیان کیا جاتا ہے وہ ان یتیم عورتوں کے بارے میں ہے جن کو تم ان کا حق میراث نہیں دیتے ہو اور چاہتے ہو کہ ان سے نکاح کرکے سارا مال روک لو اور ان کمزور بّچوں کے بارے میں ہے کہ یتیموں کے بارے میں انصاف کے ساتھ قیام کرو اور جو بھی تم کارِخیر کرو گے خدا اس کا بخوبی جاننے والا ہے۔

And if a woman fears ill usage or desertion on the part of her husband, there is no blame on them, if they effect a reconciliation between them, and reconciliation is better, and avarice has been made to be present in the (people’s) minds; and if you do good (to others) and guard (against evil), then surely Allah is aware of what you do.

اور اگر کوئی عورت شوہر سے حقوق ادا نہ کرنے یا اس کی کنارہ کشی سے طلاق کا خطرہ محسوس کرے تو دونوں کے لئے کوئی حرج نہیں ہے کہ کسی طرح آپس میں صلح کرلیں کہ صلح میں بہتری ہے اور بخل تو ہر نفس کے ساتھ حاضر رہتا ہے اور اگر تم اچھا برتاؤ کرو گے اور زیادتی سے بچو گے تو خدا تمہارے اعمال سے خوب باخبر ہے۔

And you have it not in your power to do justice between wives, even though you may wish (it), but be not disinclined (from one) with total disinclination, so that you leave her as it were in suspense; and if you effect a reconciliation and guard (against evil), then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اور تم کتنا ہی کیوں نہ چاہو عورتوں کے درمیان مکمل انصاف نہیں کرسکتے ہو لیکن اب بالکل ایک طرف نہ جھک جاؤ کہ دوسری کو معلق چھوڑ دو اور اگر اصلاح کرلو اور تقویٰ اختیار کرو تو اللہ بہت بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

And if they separate, Allah will render them both free from want out of His ampleness, and Allah is Ample-giving, Wise.

اور اگر دونوں الگ ہی ہونا چاہیں تو خدا دونوں کو اپنے خزانے کی وسعت سے غنی اور بے نیاز بنادے گا کہ اللہ صاحبِ وسعت بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے۔

And whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah’s and certainly We enjoined those who were given the Book before you and (We enjoin) you too that you should be careful of (your duty to) Allah; and if you disbelieve, then surely whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah’s and Allah is Self-sufficient, Praise-worthy.

اور اللہ کے لئے زمین و آسمان کی کل کائنات ہے اور ہم نے تم سے پہلے اہلِ کتاب کو اور اب تم کو یہ وصیت کی ہے کہ اللہ سے ڈرو اور اگر کفر اختیار کرو گے تو خدا کا کوئی نقصان نہیں ہے اس کے لئے زمین و آسمان کی کل کائنات ہے اور وہ بے نیاز بھی ہے اور قابل حمدو ستائش بھی ہے۔

And whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah’s, and Allah is sufficient as a Protector.

اور اللہ کے لئے زمین و آسمان کی کل ملکیت ہے اور وہ سب کی نگرانی اور کفالت کے لئے کافی ہے۔

If He please, He can make you pass away, O people! and bring others; and Allah has the power to do this.

وہ چاہے تو تم سب کو اٹھا لے جائے اور دوسرے لوگوں کو لے آئے اور وہ ہر شے پر قادر ہے۔

Whoever desires the reward of this world, then with Allah is the reward of this world and the hereafter; and Allah is Hearing, Seeing.

جو انسان دنیا کا ثواب اور بدلہ چاہتا ہے (اسے معلوم ہونا چاہئے) کہ خدا کے پاس دنیا اور آخرت دونوں کا انعام ہے اور وہ ہر ایک کا سننے والا اور دیکھنے والا ہے۔

O you who believe! be maintainers of justice, bearers of witness for Allah’s sake, though it may be against your own selves or (your) parents or near relatives; if he be rich or poor, Allah is nearer to them both in compassion; therefore do not follow (your) low desires, lest you deviate; and if you swerve or turn aside, then surely Allah is aware of what you do.

اے ایمان والو! عدل و انصاف کے ساتھ قیام کرو اور اللہ کے لئے گواہ بنو چاہے اپنی ذات یا اپنے والدین اور اقربا ہی کے خلاف کیوں نہ ہو۔ جس کے لئے گواہی دینا ہے وہ غنی ہو یا فقیر اللہ دونوں کے لئے تم سے اولیٰ ہے لہذا خبردار خواہشات کا اتباع نہ کرنا تاکہ انصاف کرسکو اور اگر توڑ مروڑ سے کام لیا یا بالکل کنارہ کشی کرلی تو یاد رکھو کہ اللہ تمہارے اعمال سے خوب باخبر ہے۔

O you who believe! believe in Allah and His Apostle and the Book which He has revealed to His Apostle and the Book which He revealed before; and whoever disbelieves in Allah and His angels and His books and His apostles and the last day, he indeed strays off into a remote error.

ایمان والو! اللہ، رسول اور وہ کتاب جو رسول پر نازل ہوئی ہے اور وہ کتاب جو اس سے پہلے نازل ہوچکی ہے سب پر ایمان لے آؤ اور یاد رکھو کہ جو خدا، ملائکہ، کتب سماویہ، رسول اور روزِ قیامت کا انکار کرے گا وہ یقینًا گمراہی میں بہت دور نکل گیا ہے۔

Surely (as for) those who believe then disbelieve, again believe and again disbelieve, then increase in disbelief, Allah will not forgive them nor guide them in the (right) path.

جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور پھر کفر اختیار کرلیا پھر ایمان لے آئے اور پھر کافر ہوگئے اور پھر کفر میں شدید و مزید ہوگئے تو خدا ہرگز انہیں معاف نہیں کرسکتا اور نہ سیدھے راستے کی ہدایت دے سکتا ہے۔

Announce to the hypocrites that they shall have a painful chastisement:

آپ ان منافقین کو دردناک عذاب کی بشارت دے دیں۔

Those who take the unbelievers for guardians rather than believers. Do they seek honor from them? Then surely all honor is for Allah.

جو لوگ مومنین کو چھوڑ کر کفار کو اپنا ولی اور سرپرست بناتے ہیں، کیا یہ ان کے پاس عزّت تلاش کررہے ہیں جب کہ ساری عزّت صرف اللہ کے لئے ہے۔

And indeed He has revealed to you in the Book that when you hear Allah’s communications disbelieved in and mocked at do not sit with them until they enter into some other discourse; surely then you would be like them; surely Allah will gather together the hypocrites and the unbelievers all in hell.

اور اس نے کتاب میں یہ بات نازل کردی ہے کہ جب آیاتِ الٰہی کے بارے میں یہ سنو کہ ان کا انکار اور استہزاء (مذاق) ہورہا ہے تو خبردار ان کے ساتھ ہرگز نہ بیٹھنا جب تک وہ دوسری باتوں میں مصروف نہ ہوجائیں ورنہ تم ان ہی کے مثل ہوجاؤ گے خدا کفار اور منافقین سب کو جہنّم میں ایک ساتھ اکٹھا کرنے والا ہے۔

Those who wait for (some misfortune to befall) you; then if you have a victory from Allah they say: Were we not with you? And if there is a chance for the unbelievers, they say: Did we not acquire the mastery over you and defend you from the believers? So Allah shall judge between you on the day of resurrection, and Allah will by no means give the unbelievers a way against the believers.

یہ منافقین تمہارے حالات کا انتظار کرتے رہتے ہیں کہ تمہیں خدا کی طرف سے فتح نصیب ہو تو کہیں گے کیا ہم تمہارے ساتھ نہیں تھے اور اگر کفاّر کو کوئی حصّہ مل جائے گا تو ان سے کہیں گے کہ کیا ہم تم پر غالب نہیں آگئے تھے اور تمہیں مومنین سے بچا نہیں لیا تھا تو اب خدا ہی قیامت کے دن تمہارے درمیان فیصلہ کرے گا اور خدا کفاّر کے لئے صاحبانِ ایمان کے خلاف کوئی راہ نہیں دے سکتا۔

Surely the hypocrites strive to deceive Allah, and He shall requite their deceit to them, and when they stand up to prayer they stand up sluggishly; they do it only to be seen of men and do not remember Allah save a little.

منافقین خدا کو دھوکہ دینا چاہتے ہیں اور خدا ان کو دھوکہ میں رکھنے والا ہے اور یہ نماز کے لئے اٹھتے بھی ہیں تو سستی کے ساتھ، لوگوں کو دکھانے کے لئے عمل کرتے ہیں اور اللہ کو بہت کم یاد کرتے ہیں۔

Wavering between that (and this), (belonging) neither to these nor to those; and whomsoever Allah causes to err, you shall not find a way for him.

یہ کفر و اسلام کے درمیان حیران و سرگرداں ہیں نہ ان کی طرف ہیں اور نہ اُن کی طرف اور جس کو خدا گمراہی میں چھوڑ دے اس کے لئے آپ کو کوئی راستہ نہ ملے گا۔

O you who believe! do not take the unbelievers for friends rather than the believers; do you desire that you should give to Allah a manifest proof against yourselves?

ایمان والو خبردار مومنین کو چھوڑ کر کفاّر کو اپنا ولی اور سرپرست نہ بنانا کیا تم چاہتے ہو کہ اللہ کے لئے اپنے خلاف صریحی دلیل و حجت قرار دے دو۔

Surely the hypocrites are in the lowest stage of the fire and you shall not find a helper for them.

بے شک منافقین جہنّم کے سب سے نچلے طبقہ میں ہوں گے اور آپ ان کے لئے کوئی مددگار نہ پائیں گے۔

Except those who repent and amend and hold fast to Allah and are sincere in their religion to Allah, these are with the believers, and Allah will grant the believers a mighty reward.

علاوہ ان لوگوں کے جو توبہ کرلیں اور اپنی اصلاح کرلیں اور خدا سے وابستہ ہوجائیں اور دین کو خالص اللہ کے لئے اختیار کریں تو یہ صاحبان ایمان کے ساتھ ہوں گے اور عنقریب اللہ ان صاحبانِ ایمان کو اجر عظیم عطا کرے گا۔

Why should Allah chastise you if you are grateful and believe? And Allah is the Multiplier of rewards, Knowing.

خدا تم پر عذاب کرکے کیا کرے گا اگر تم اس کے شکر گزار اور صاحبِ ایمان بن جاؤ اور وہ تو ہر ایک کے شکریہ کا قبول کرنے والا اور ہر ایک کی نیت کا جاننے والا ہے۔

Allah does not love the public utterance of hurtful speech unless (it be) by one to whom injustice has been done; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

اللہ مظلوم کے علاوہ کسی کی طرف سے بھی علی الاعلان بُرا کہنے کو پسند نہیں کرتا اور اللہ ہر بات کا سننے والا اور تمام حالات کا جاننے والا ہے۔

If you do good openly or do it in secret or pardon an evil then surely Allah is Pardoning, Powerful.

تم کسی خیر کا اظہار کرو یا اسے مخفی رکھو یا کسی برائی سے درگزر کرو تو اللہ گناہوں کا معاف کرنے والا اور صاحبِ اختیار ہے۔

Surely those who disbelieve in Allah and His apostles and (those who) desire to make a distinction between Allah and His apostles and say: We believe in some and disbelieve in others, and desire to take a course between (this and) that.

بے شک جو لوگ اللہ اور رسول کا انکار کرتے ہیں اور خدا اور رسول کے درمیان تفرقہ پیدا کرنا چاہتے ہیں اور یہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم بعض پر ایمان لائیں گے اور بعض کا انکار کریں گے اور چاہتے ہیں کہ ایمان و کفر کے درمیان سے کوئی نیا راستہ نکال لیں۔

These it is that are truly unbelievers, and We have prepared for the unbelievers a disgraceful chastisement.

تو درحقیقت یہی لوگ کافر ہیں اور ہم نے کافروں کے لئے بڑا رسوا کن عذاب مہیّا کررکھا ہے۔

And those who believe in Allah and His apostles and do not make a distinction between any of them- Allah will grant them their rewards; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اور جو لوگ اللہ اور رسول پر ایمان لے آئے اور رسولوں کے درمیان تفرقہ نہیں پیدا کیا خدا عنقریب انہیں ان کا اجر عطا کرے گا اور وہ بہت زیادہ بخشنے والا اور مہربانی کرنے والا ہے۔

The followers of the Book ask you to bring down to them a book from heaven; so indeed they demanded of Musa a greater thing than that, for they said: Show us Allah manifestly; so the lightning overtook them on account of their injustice. Then they took the calf (for a god), after clear signs had come to them, but We pardoned this; and We gave to Musa clear authority.

پیغمبر یہ اہلِ کتاب آپ سے مطالبہ کرتے ہیں کہ ان پر آسمان سے کوئی کتاب نازل کردیجئے تو انہوں نے موسٰیؑ سے اس سے زیادہ سنگین سوال کیا تھا جب ان سے یہ کہا کہ ہمیں اللہ کو علی الاعلان دکھلا دیجئے تو ان کے ظلم کی بنا پر انہیں ایک بجلی نے اپنی گرفت میں لے لیا پھر انہوں نے ہماری نشانیوں کے آجانے کے باوجود گوسالہ بنالیا تو ہم نے اس سے بھی درگزر کیا اور موسٰیؑ کو کھلی ہوئی دلیل عطا کردی۔

And We lifted the mountain (Sinai) over them at (the taking of the covenant) and We said to them: Enter the door making obeisance; and We said to them: Do not exceed the limits of the Sabbath, and We made with them a firm covenant.

اور ہم نے ان کے عہد کی خلاف ورزی کی بنا پر ان کے سروں پر کوہِ طور کو بلند کردیا اور ان سے کہا کہ دروازہ سے سجدہ کرتے ہوئے داخل ہو اور ان سے کہا کہ خبردار شنبہ کے معاملہ میں زیادتی نہ کرنا اور ان سے بڑا سخت عہد لے لیا۔

Therefore, for their breaking their covenant and their disbelief in the communications of Allah and their killing the prophets wrongfully and their saying: Our hearts are covered; nay! Allah set a seal upon them owing to their unbelief, so they shall not believe except a few.

پس ان کے عہد کو توڑ دینے، آیاتِ خدا کے انکار کرنے اور انبیاء کو ناحق قتل کر دینے اور یہ کہنے کی بنا پر کہ ہمارے دلوں پر فطرتًا غلاف چڑھے ہوئے ہیں حالانکہ ایسا نہیں ہے بلکہ خدا نے ان کے کفر کی بنا پر ان کے دلوں پر مہر لگادی ہے اور اب چند ایک کے علاوہ کوئی ایمان نہ لائے گا۔

And for their unbelief and for their having uttered against Marium a grievous calumny.

اور ان کے کفر اور مریم پر عظیم بہتان لگانے کی بنا پر۔

And their saying: Surely we have killed the Messiah, Isa son of Marium, the apostle of Allah; and they did not kill him nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them so (like Isa) and most surely those who differ therein are only in a doubt about it; they have no knowledge respecting it, but only follow a conjecture, and they killed him not for sure.

اور یہ کہنے کی بنا پر کہ ہم نے مسیح عیسٰی بن مریمؑ رسول اللہ کو قتل کردیا ہے حالانکہ انہوں نے نہ انہیں قتل کیا ہے اور نہ سولی دی ہے بلکہ دوسرے کو ان کی شبیہ بنا دیا گیا تھا اور جن لوگوں نے عیسٰیؑ کے بارے میں اختلاف کیا ہے وہ سب منزلِ شک میں ہیں اور کسی کو گمان کی پیروی کے علاوہ کوئی علم نہیں ہے اور انہوں نے یقینًا انہیں قتل نہیں کیا ہے۔

Nay! Allah took him up to Himself; and Allah is Mighty, Wise.

بلکہ خدا نے انہیں اپنی طرف اٹھا لیا ہے اور خدا صاحبِ غلبہ اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے۔

And there is not one of the followers of the Book but most certainly believes in this before his death, and on the day of resurrection he (Isa) shall be a witness against them.

اور کوئی اہل کتاب میں ایسا نہیں ہے جو اپنی موت سے پہلے ان پر ایمان نہ لائے اور قیامت کے دن عیسٰیؑ اس کے گواہ ہوں گے۔

Wherefore for the iniquity of those who are Jews did We disallow to them the good things which had been made lawful for them and for their hindering many (people) from Allah’s way.

پس ان یہودیوں کے ظلم کی بنا پر ہم نے جن پاکیزہ چیزوں کو حلال کر رکھا تھا ان پر حرام کردیا اور ان کے بہت سے لوگوں کو راہِ خدا سے روکنے کی بنا پر۔

And their taking usury though indeed they were forbidden it and their devouring the property of people falsely, and We have prepared for the unbelievers from among them a painful chastisement.

اور سود لینے کی بنا پر جس سے انہیں روکا گیا تھا اور ناجائز طریقہ سے لوگوں کا مال کھانے کی بنا پر اور ہم نے کافروں کے لئے بڑا دردناک عذاب مہیّا کیا ہے۔

But the firm in knowledge among them and the believers believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed before you, and those who keep up prayers and those who give the poor-rate and the believers in Allah and the last day, these it is whom We will give a mighty reward.

لیکن ان میں سے جو لوگ علم میں رسوخ رکھنے والے اور ایمان لانے والے ہیں وہ ان سب پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں جو تم پر نازل ہوا ہے یا تم سے پہلے نازل ہوچکا ہے اور بالخصوص نماز قائم کرنے والے اور زکوٰۃدینے والے اور آخرت پر ایمان رکھنے والے ہیں ہم عنقریب ان سب کو اجر عظیم عطا کریں گے۔

Surely We have revealed to you as We revealed to Nuh, and the prophets after him, and We revealed to Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq and Yaqoub and the tribes, and Isa and Ayub and Yunus and Haroun and Sulaiman and We gave to Dawood Psalms.

ہم نے آپ کی طرف اسی طرح وحی نازل کی ہے جس طرح نوحؑ اور ان کے بعد کے انبیاء کی طرف وحی کی تھی اور ابراہیمؑ، اسماعیلؑ، اسحاقؑ، یعقوبؑ، اسباطؑ، عیسٰیؑ، ایوبؑ، یونسؑ، ہارونؑ اور سلیمانؑ کی طرف وحی کی ہے اور داؤدؑ کو زبور عطا کی ہے۔

And (We sent) apostles We have mentioned to you before and apostles we have not mentioned to you; and to Musa, Allah addressed His Word, speaking (to him):

کچھ رسول ہیں جن کے قصّے ہم آپ سے بیان کرچکے ہیں اور کچھ رسول ہیں جن کا تذکرہ ہم نے نہیں کیا ہے اور اللہ نے موسٰیؑ سے باقاعدہ گفتگو کی ہے۔

(We sent) apostles as the givers of good news and as warners, so that people should not have a plea against Allah after the (coming of) apostles; and Allah is Mighty, Wise.

یہ سارے رسول بشارت دینے والے اور ڈرانے والے اس لئے بھیجے گئے تاکہ رسولوں کے آنے کے بعد انسانوں کی حجت خدا پر قائم نہ ہونے پائے اور خدا سب پر غالب اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

But Allah bears witness by what He has revealed to you that He has revealed it with His knowledge, and the angels bear witness (also); and Allah is sufficient as a witness.

(یہ مانیں یا نہ مانیں) لیکن خدا نے جو کچھ آپ پر نازل کیا ہے وہ خود اس کی گواہی دیتا ہے کہ اس نے اسے اپنے علم سے نازل کیا ہے اور ملائکہ بھی گواہی دیتے ہیں اور خدا خود بھی شہادت کے لئے کافی ہے۔

Surely (as for) those who disbelieve and hinder (men) from Allah’s way, they indeed have strayed off into a remote error.

بے شک جن لوگوں نے کفر اختیار کیا اور راہِ خدا سے منع کردیا وہ گمراہی میں بہت دور تک چلے گئے ہیں۔

Surely (as for) those who disbelieve and act unjustly, Allah will not forgive them nor guide them to a path

اورجن لوگوں نے کفر اختیار کرنے کے بعد ظلم کیا ہے خدا انہیں ہرگز معاف نہیں کرسکتا اور نہ انہیں کسی راستہ کی ہدایت کرسکتا ہے۔

Except the path of hell, to abide in it forever, and this is easy to Allah.

سوائے جہنّم کے راستے کے جہاں ان کو ہمیشہ ہمیشہ رہنا ہے اور یہ خدا کے لئے بہت آسان ہے۔

O people! surely the Apostle has come to you with the truth from your Lord, therefore believe, (it shall be) good for you and if you disbelieve, then surely whatever is in the heavens and the earth is Allah’s; and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

اے انسانو!تمہارے پاس پروردگار کی طرف سے حق لے کر رسول آگیا ہے لہذا اس پر ایمان لے آؤ اسی میں تمہاری بھلائی ہے اور اگر تم نے کفر اختیار کیا تو یاد رکھو کہ زمین و آسمان کی کل کائنات خدا کے لئے ہے اور وہی علم والا بھی ہے اور حکمت والا بھی ہے۔

O followers of the Book! do not exceed the limits in your religion, and do not speak (lies) against Allah, but (speak) the truth; the Messiah, Isa son of Marium is only an apostle of Allah and His Word which He communicated to Marium and a spirit from Him; believe therefore in Allah and His apostles, and say not, Three. Desist, it is better for you; Allah is only one God; far be it from His glory that He should have a son, whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His, and Allah is sufficient for a Protector.

اے اہل کتاب اپنے دین میں حد سے تجاوز نہ کرو اور خدا کے بارے میں حق کے علاوہ کچھ نہ کہو،مسیح عیسٰی بن مریمؑ صرف اللہ کے رسول اور اس کا کلمہ ہیں جسے مریم کی طرف القاء کیا گیا ہے اور وہ اس کی طرف سے ایک روح ہیں لہذا خدا اور مرسلین پر ایمان لے آؤ اور خبردار تین کا نام بھی نہ لو، اس سے باز آجاؤ کہ اسی میں بھلائی ہے۔ اللہ فقط خدائے واحد ہے اور وہ اس بات سے منزہ ہے کہ اس کا کوئی بیٹا ہو، زمین و آسمان میں جو کچھ بھی ہے سب اسی کا ہے اور وہ کفالت و وکالت کے لئے کافی ہے۔

The Messiah does by no means disdain that he should be a servant of Allah, nor do the angels who are near to Him, and whoever disdains His service and is proud, He will gather them all together to Himself.

نہ مسیح کو اس بات سے انکار ہے کہ وہ بندئہ خدا ہیں اور نہ ملائکہ مقربین کو اس کی بندگی سے کوئی انکار ہے اور جو بھی اس کی بندگی سے انکار و استکبار کرے گا تو اللہ سب کو اپنی بارگاہ میں محشور کرے گا۔

Then as for those who believe and do good, He will pay them fully their rewards and give them more out of His grace; and as for those who disdain and are proud, He will chastise them with a painful chastisement. And they shall not find for themselves besides Allah a guardian or a helper.

پھر جو لوگ ایمان لے آئے اور انہوں نے نیک اعمال کئے انہیں مکمل اجر دے گا اور اپنے فضل و کرم سے اضافہ بھی کردے گا اور جن لوگوں نے انکار اور تکبّرسے کام لیا ہے ان پر دردناک عذاب کرے گا اور انہیں خدا کے علاوہ نہ کوئی سرپرست ملے گا اور نہ مددگار۔

O people! surely there has come to you manifest proof from your Lord and We have sent to you clear light.

اے انسانو !تمہارے پاس تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف سے برہان آچکا ہے اور ہم نے تمہاری طرف روشن نور بھی نازل کردیا ہے۔

Then as for those who believe in Allah and hold fast by Him, He will cause them to enter into His mercy and grace and guide them to Himself on a right path.

پس جو لوگ اللہ پر ایمان لائے اور اس سے وابستہ ہوئے انہیں وہ اپنی رحمت اور اپنے فضل میں داخل کرلے گا اور سیدھے راستہ کی ہدایت کردے گا۔

They ask you for a decision of the law. Say: Allah gives you a decision concerning the person who has neither parents nor offspring; if a man dies (and) he has no son and he has a sister, she shall have half of what he leaves, and he shall be her heir if she has no son; but if there be two (sisters), they shall have two-thirds of what he leaves; and if there are brethren, men and women, then the male shall have the like of the portion of two females; Allah makes clear to you, lest you err; and Allah knows all things.

پیغمبر یہ لوگ آپ سے فتویٰ دریافت کرتے ہیں تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ کلالہ (بھائی بہن) کے بارے میں خدا خود یہ حکم بیان کرتا ہے کہ اگر کوئی شخص مر جائے اور اس کی اولاد نہ ہو اور صرف بہن وارث ہو تو اسے ترکہ کا نصف ملے گا اور اسی طرح اگر بہن مر جائے اور اس کی اولاد نہ ہو تو بھائی اس کا وارث ہوگا۔ پھر اگر وارث دو بہنیں ہیں تو انہیں ترکہ کا دو تہائی ملے گا اور اگر بھائی بہن دونوں ہیں تو مرد کے لئے عورت کا دہرا حصّہ ہوگا خدا یہ سب واضح کررہا ہے تاکہ تم بہکنے نہ پاؤ اور خدا ہر شے کا خوب جاننے والا ہے۔

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
