Surah Hijr (15, 99 ayat)سورۂ حجر

He to whom the Reminder was revealed is called insane; the text answers that Allah Himself guards it. Man is made of clay, the jinn of fire; the angels bow and Iblis refuses. Then come the guests who brought Ibrahim news of a son and went on to Lut's people. It closes with praise of the Lord and service to Him until what is certain comes.

Rock (Makki)

It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s) that whoever recites Surah Hijr will get the reward equal to the number of Muhajireen and Ansaar (companions of the Holy Prophet (s)) and this Surah should be written with saffron and then worn as a talisman by a new mother who cannot produce enough milk for her child. If written and tied on one’s arm, it makes any business conducted by the wearer to be profitable and makes people like doing business with him. His sustenance thus increases. In a narration by Imam Jafar Sadiq (a) one can also put this Surah (written) inside the pocket or safe (for storing valuables).

رسول اکرمؐ نے فرمایا: سورہ حجر پڑھنے والے کو مہاجرین و انصار کے برابر نیکیاں عطا کی جاتی ہیں۔ (مجمع البیان ج۶ص۹۷)

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

الٓرٰ تِلْكَ اٰيٰتُ الْكِتٰبِ وَقُرْاٰنٍ مُّبِيْنٍ

Alraa tilka aayaatu al-kitaabi waqur'aanin mubeen

Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear.

الر۔ یہ کتابِ خدا اور قرآنِ مبین کی آیات ہیں۔

رُبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَوْ كَانُوْا مُسْلِمِيْنَ

Rubamaa yawaddu allazeena kafaroo law kaanoo muslimeen

Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims.

ایک دن آنے والا ہے جب کفار بھی یہ تمنا کریں گے کہ کاش ہم بھی مسلمان ہوتے۔

ذَرْهُمْ يَاْكُلُوْا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوْا وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْاَمَلُ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُوْنَ

Zarhum ya'kuloo wayatamatta'oo wayulhihimu al-amalu fasawfa ya'lamoon

Leave them that they may eat and enjoy themselves and (that) hope may beguile them, for they will soon know.

انہیں ان کے حال پر چھوڑ دو کھائیں پئیں اور مزے اڑائیں اور امیدیں انہیں غفلت میں ڈالے رہیں عنقریب انہیں سب کچھ معلوم ہوجائے گا۔

وَمَآ اَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ اِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَّعْلُوْمٌ

Wamaa ahlaknaa min qaryatin illaa walahaa kitaabun ma'loom

And never did We destroy a town but it had a term made known.

اور ہم نے کسی قریہ کو ہلاک نہیں کیا مگر یہ کہ اس کے لئے ایک میعاد (وقت) مقرر کردی تھی۔

مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ اُمَّةٍ اَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَاْخِرُوْنَ

Maa tasbiqu min ummatin ajalahaa wamaa yasta'khiroon

No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it).

کوئی امّت نہ اپنے وقت سے آگے بڑھ سکتی ہے اور نہ پیچھے ہٹ سکتی ہے۔

وَقَالُوْا يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْ نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ اِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُوْنٌ

Waqaaloo yaa ayyuhaa allazee nuzzila 'alayhi az-zikru innaka lamajnoon

And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane:

اور ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ اے وہ شخص جس پر قرآن نازل ہوا ہے تو دیوانہ ہے۔

لَوْ مَا تَاْتِيْنَا بِالْمَلٰٓئِكَةِ اِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصّٰدِقِيْنَ

Law maa ta'teenaa bil-malaa'ikati in kunta mina as-saadiqeen

Why do you not bring to us the angels if you are of the truthful ones?

اگر تو اپنے دعوٰی میں سچا ہے تو فرشتوں کو کیوں سامنے نہیں لاتاہے۔

مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةَ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوْٓا اِذًا مُّنْظَرِيْنَ

Maa nunazzilu al-malaa'ikata illaa bil-haqqi wamaa kaanoo izan munzareen

We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited.

حالانکہ ہم فرشتوں کو حق کے فیصلہ کے ساتھ ہی بھیجا کرتے ہیں اور اس کے بعد پھر کسی کو مہلت نہیں دی جاتی ہے۔

اِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَاِنَّا لَهٗ لَحٰفِظُوْنَ

Innaa nahnu nazzalnaa az-zikra wa-innaa lahoo lahaafizoon

Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian.

ہم نے ہی اس قرآن کو نازل کیا ہے اور ہم ہی اس کی حفاظت کرنے والے ہیں۔

وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فِيْ شِيَعِ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ

Walaqad arsalnaa min qablika fee shiya'i al-awwaleen

And certainly We sent (apostles) before you among the nations of yore.

اور ہم نے آپ سے پہلے بھی مختلف قوموں میں رسول بھیجے ہیں۔

وَمَا يَاْتِيْهِم مِّن رَّسُوْلٍ اِلَّا كَانُوْا بِهٖ يَسْتَهْزِئُوْنَ

Wamaa ya'teehim min rasoolin illaa kaanoo bihee yastahzi'oon

And there never came an apostle to them but they mocked him.

اور جب ان کے پاس رسول آتے ہیں تو یہ صرف ان کا مذاق اڑاتے ہیں۔

كَذٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهٗ فِيْ قُلُوْبِ الْمُجْرِمِيْنَ

Kazaalika naslukuhoo fee quloobi al-mujrimeen

Thus do We make it to enter into the hearts of the guilty;

اور ہم اسی طرح اس گمراہی کو مجرمین کے دل میں ڈال دیتے ہیں۔

لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِهٖ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ

Laa yu'minoona bihee waqad khalat sunnatu al-awwaleen

They do not believe in it, and indeed the example of the former people has already passed.

یہ کبھی ایمان نہ لائیں گے کہ ان سے پہلے والوں کا طریقہ بھی ایسا ہی رہ چکا ہے۔

وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَابًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّوْا فِيْهِ يَعْرُجُوْنَ

Walaw fatahnaa 'alayhim baaban mina as-samaa'i fazalloo feehi ya'rujoon

And even if We open to them a gateway of heaven, so that they ascend into it all the while

ہم اگر آسمان میں ان کے لئے کوئی دروازہ کھول دیں اور یہ لوگ دن دھاڑے اسی دروازے سے چڑھ جائیں۔

لَقَالُوْٓا اِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ اَبْصَارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَّسْحُوْرُوْنَ

Laqaaloo innamaa sukkirat absaarunaa bal nahnu qawmun mashooroon

They would certainly say: Only our eyes have been covered over, rather we are an enchanted people.

تو بھی کہیں گے کہ ہماری آنکھوں کو مدہوش کردیا گیا ہے اور ہم پر جادو کردیا گیا ہے۔

وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِي السَّمَآءِ بُرُوْجًا وَّزَيَّنّٰهَا لِلنّٰظِرِيْنَ

Walaqad ja'alnaa fee as-samaa'i buroojan wazayyannaahaa lin-naazireen

And certainly We have made strongholds in the heaven and We have made it fair seeming to the beholders.

اور ہم نے آسمان میں برج بنائے اور انہیں دیکھنے والوں کے لئے ستاروں سے آراستہ کردیا۔

وَحَفِظْنٰهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطٰنٍ رَّجِيْمٍ

Wahafiznaahaa min kulli shaytaanin rajeem

And We guard it against every accursed Shaitan

اور ہر شیطانِ رجیم سے محفوظ بنادیا۔

اِلَّا مَنِ اسْتَرَقَ السَّمْعَ فَاَتْبَعَهٗ شِهَابٌ مُّبِيْنٌ

Illaa mani istaraqa as-sam'a fa-atba'ahoo shihaabun mubeen

But he who steals a hearing, so there follows him a visible flame.

مگر یہ کہ کوئی شیطان وہاں کی بات چرانا چاہے تو اس کے پیچھے دہکتا ہوا شعلہ لگادیا گیا ہے۔

وَالْاَرْضَ مَدَدْنٰهَا وَاَلْقَيْنَا فِيْهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَاَنْۢبَتْنَا فِيْهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَّوْزُوْنٍ

Wal-arda madadnaahaa wal-qaynaa feehaa rawaasiya wa-anbatnaa feehaa min kulli shay'in mawzoon

And the earth- We have spread it forth and made in it firm mountains and caused to grow in it of every suitable thing.

اور ہم نے زمین کو پھیلادیا ہے اور اس میں پہاڑوں کے لنگر ڈال دیئے ہیں اور ہر چیز کو معینہ مقدار کے مطابق پیدا کیا ہے۔

وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيْهَا مَعَايِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهٗ بِرٰزِقِيْنَ

Waja'alnaa lakum feehaa ma'aayisha waman lastum lahoo biraaziqeen

And We have made in it means of subsistence for you and for him for whom you are not the suppliers.

اور اس میں تمہارے لئے بھی اسبابِ معیشت قرار دئے ہیں اور ان کے لئے بھی جن کے تم رازق نہیں ہو۔

وَاِن مِّنْ شَيْءٍ اِلَّا عِنْدَنَا خَزَآئِنُهٗ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهٗٓ اِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُوْمٍ

Wa-in min shay'in illaa 'indanaa khazaa'inuhoo wamaa nunazziluhoo illaa biqadarin ma'loom

And there is not a thing but with Us are the treasures of it, and We do not send it down but in a known measure.

اور کوئی شے ایسی نہیں ہے جس کے ہمارے پاس خزانے نہ ہوں اور ہم ہر شے کو ایک معین مقدار میں ہی نازل کرتے ہیں۔

وَاَرْسَلْنَا الرِّيٰحَ لَوَاقِحَ فَاَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَاَسْقَيْنٰكُمُوْهُ وَمَآ اَنْتُمْ لَهٗ بِخٰزِنِيْنَ

Wa-arsalnaa ar-riyaaha lawaaqiha fa-anzalnaa mina as-samaa'i maa'an fa-asqaynaakumoohu wamaa antum lahoo bikhaazineen

And We send the winds fertilizing, then send down water from the cloud so We give it to you to drink of, nor is it you who store it up.

اور ہم نے ہواؤں کو بادلوں کا بوجھ اٹھانے والا بناکر چلایا ہے پھر آسمان سے پانی برسایا ہے جس سے تم کو سیراب کیا ہے اور تم اس کے خزانہ دار نہیں تھے۔

وَاِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْيٖ وَنُمِيْتُ وَنَحْنُ الْوَارِثُوْنَ

Wa-innaa lanahnu nuhyee wanumeetu wanahnu al-waarithoon

And most surely We bring to life and cause to die and We are the heirs.

اور ہم ہی حیات و موت کے دینے والے ہیں اور ہم ہی سب کے والی و وارث ہیں۔

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَقْدِمِيْنَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَاْخِرِيْنَ

Walaqad 'alimnaa al-mustaqdimeena minkum walaqad 'alimnaa al-musta'khireen

And certainly We know those of you who have gone before and We certainly know those who shall come later.

اور ہم تم سے پہلے گزر جانے والوں کو بھی جانتے ہیں اور بعد میں آنے والوں سے بھی باخبر ہیں۔

وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ اِنَّهٗ حَكِيْمٌ عَلِيْمٌ

Wa-inna rabbaka huwa yahshuruhum innahoo hakeemun 'aleem

And surely your Lord will gather them together; surely He is Wise, Knowing.

اور تمہارا پروردگار ہی سب کو ایک جگہ جمع کرے گا کہ وہ صاحبِ علم بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی۔

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَاٍ مَّسْنُوْنٍ

Walaqad khalaqnaa al-insaana min salsaalin min hama'in masnoon

And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of mud fashioned in shape.

اور ہم نے انسان کو سیاہی مائل نرم مٹی سے پیدا کیا ہے جو سوکھ کر کھن کھن بولنے لگی تھی۔

وَالْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنٰهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ السَّمُوْمِ

Wal-jaanna khalaqnaahu min qablu min naari as-samoom

And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire.

اور جنّات کو اس سے پہلے زہریلی آگ سے پیدا کیا ہے۔

وَاِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلٰٓئِكَةِ اِنِّيْ خَالِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَاٍ مَّسْنُوْنٍ

Wa-iz qaala rabbuka lil-malaa'ikati innee khaaliqun basharan min salsaalin min hama'in masnoon

And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape.

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو کہ جب تمہارے پروردگار نے ملائکہ سے کہا تھا کہ میں سیاہی مائل نرم کھنکھناتی ہوئی مٹی سے ایک بشر پیدا کرنے والا ہوں۔

فَاِذَا سَوَّيْتُهٗ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيْهِ مِن رُّوْحِيْ فَقَعُوْا لَهٗ سٰجِدِيْنَ

Fa-izaa sawwaytuhoo wanafakhtu feehi min roohee faqa'oo lahoo saajideen

So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him.

پھر جب مکمل کرلوں اور اس میں اپنی روحِ حیات پھونک دوں تو سب کے سب سجدہ میں گر پڑنا۔

فَسَجَدَ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ اَجْمَعُوْنَ

Fasajada al-malaa'ikatu kulluhum ajma'oon

So the angels made obeisance, all of them together

تو تمام ملائکہ نے اجتماعی طور پر سجدہ کرلیا تھا۔

اِلَّآ اِبْلِيْسَ اَبٰٓى اَنْ يَّكُوْنَ مَعَ السّٰجِدِيْنَ

Illaa ibleesa abaa an yakoona ma'a as-saajideen

But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance.

علاوہ ابلیس کے کہ وہ سجدہ گزاروں کے ساتھ نہ ہوسکا۔

قَالَ يٰٓاِبْلِيْسُ مَا لَكَ اَلَّا تَكُوْنَ مَعَ السّٰجِدِيْنَ

Qaala yaa ibleesu maa laka allaa takoona ma'a as-saajideen

He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance?

اللہ نے کہا کہ اے ابلیس تجھے کیا ہوگیا ہے کہ تو سجدہ گزاروں میں شامل نہ ہوسکا۔

قَالَ لَمْ اَكُن لِّاَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهٗ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَاٍ مَّسْنُوْنٍ

Qaala lam akun li-asjuda libasharin khalaqtahoo min salsaalin min hama'in masnoon

He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of mud fashioned in shape.

اس نے کہا کہ میں ایسے بشر کو سجدہ نہیں کرسکتا جسے تو نے سیاہی مائل خشک مٹی سے پیدا کیا ہے۔

قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَاِنَّكَ رَجِيْمٌ

Qaala fakhruj minhaa fa-innaka rajeem

He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away:

ارشاد ہوا کہ تو یہاں سے نکل جا کہ تو مردود ہے۔

وَاِنَّ عَلَيْكَ اللَّعْنَةَ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الدِّيْنِ

Wa-inna 'alayka al-la'nata ilaa yawmi ad-deen

And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment.

اور تجھ پر قیامت کے دن تک لعنت ہے۔

قَالَ رَبِّ فَاَنْظِرْنِيْٓ اِلٰى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُوْنَ

Qaala rabbi fa-anzirnee ilaa yawmi yub'athoon

He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised.

اس نے کہا کہ پروردگار مجھے روزِ حشر تک کی مہلت دیدے۔

قَالَ فَاِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَرِيْنَ

Qaala fa-innaka mina al-munzareen

He said: So surely you are of the respited ones

جواب ملا کہ تجھے مہلت دیدی گئی ہے۔

اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُوْمِ

Ilaa yawmi al-waqti al-ma'loom

Till the period of the time made known.

ایک معلوم اور معین وقت کے لئے۔

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ اَغْوَيْتَنِيْ لَاُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِي الْاَرْضِ وَلَاُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ

Qaala rabbi bimaa aghwaytanee la-uzayyinanna lahum fee al-ardi wala-ughwiyannahum ajma'een

He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate

اس نے کہا کہ پروردگار جس طرح تو نے مجھے گمراہ کیا ہے میں ان بندوں کے لئے زمین میں ساز و سامان آراستہ کروں گا اور سب کو اکٹھا گمراہ کروں گا۔

اِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِيْنَ

Illaa 'ibaadaka minhumu al-mukhlaseen

Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones.

علاوہ تیرے ان بندوں کے جنہیں تو نے خالص بنا لیا ہے۔

قَالَ هٰذَا صِرَاطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَقِيْمٌ

Qaala haazaa siraatun 'alayya mustaqeem

He said: This is a right way with Me:

ارشاد ہوا کہ یہی میرا سیدھا راستہ ہے۔

اِنَّ عِبَادِيْ لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطٰنٌ اِلَّا مَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْغٰوِيْنَ

Inna 'ibaadee laysa laka 'alayhim sultaanun illaa mani ittaba'aka mina al-ghaaween

Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority over them except those who follow you of the deviators.

میرے بندوں پر تیرا کوئی اختیار نہیں ہے علاوہ ان کے جو گمراہوں میں سے تیری پیروی کرنے لگیں۔

وَاِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ

Wa-inna jahannama lamaw'iduhum ajma'een

And surely Hell is the promised place of them all:

اور جہنّم ایسے تمام لوگوں کی آخری وعدہ گاہ ہے۔

لَهَا سَبْعَةُ اَبْوَابٍ لِّكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُوْمٌ

Lahaa sab'atu abwaabin likulli baabin minhum juz'un maqsoom

It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them.

اس کے سات دروازے ہیں اور ہر دروازے کے لئے ایک حصّہ تقسیم کردیا گیا ہے۔

اِنَّ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ فِيْ جَنّٰتٍ وَّعُيُوْنٍ

Inna al-muttaqeena fee jannaatin wa'uyoon

Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains:

بےشک صاحبانِ تقویٰ باغات اور چشموں کے درمیان رہیں گے۔

اُدْخُلُوْهَا بِسَلٰمٍ اٰمِنِيْنَ

Udkhuloohaa bisalaamin aamineen

Enter them in peace, secure.

انہیں حکم ہوگا کہ تم ان باغات میں سلامتی اور حفاظت کے ساتھ داخل ہو جاؤ۔

وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِيْ صُدُوْرِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ اِخْوَانًا عَلٰى سُرُرٍ مُّتَقٰبِلِيْنَ

Wanaza'naa maa fee sudoorihim min ghillin ikhwaanan 'alaa sururin mutaqaabileen

And We will root out whatever of rancor is in their breasts- (they shall be) as brethren, on raised couches, face to face.

اور ہم نے ان کے سینوں سے ہر طرح کی کدورت نکال لی ہے اور وہ بھائیوں کی طرح آمنے سامنے تخت پر بیٹھے ہوں گے۔

لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيْهَا نَصَبٌ وَّمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِيْنَ

Laa yamassuhum feehaa nasabun wamaa hum minhaa bimukhrajeen

Toil shall not afflict them in it, nor shall they be ever ejected from it.

نہ انہیں کوئی تکلیف چھو سکے گی اور نہ وہاں سے نکالے جائیں گے۔

نَبِّیْٔ عِبَادِيْٓ اَنِّيْٓ اَنَا الْغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِيْمُ

Nabbi' 'ibaadee annee anaa al-ghafooru ar-raheem

Inform My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful

میرے بندوں کو خبر کردو کہ میں بہت بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہوں۔

وَاَنَّ عَذَابِيْ هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْاَلِيْمُ

Wa-anna 'azaabee huwa al-'azaabu al-aleem

And that My punishment- that is the painful punishment.

اور میرا عذاب بھی بڑا دردناک عذاب ہے۔

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَنْ ضَيْفِ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ

Wanabbi'hum 'an dayfi ibraaheem

And inform them of the guests of Ibrahim:

اور انہیں ابراہیمؑ کے مہمانوں کے بارے میں اطلاع دیدو۔

اِذْ دَخَلُوْا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوْا سَلٰمًا قَالَ اِنَّا مِنْكُمْ وَجِلُوْنَ

Iz dakhaloo 'alayhi faqaaloo salaaman qaala innaa minkum wajiloon

When they entered upon him, they said, Peace. He said: Surely we are afraid of you.

جب وہ لوگ ابراہیمؑ کے پاس وارد ہوئے اور سلام کیا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم آپ سے خوف زدہ ہیں۔

قَالُوْا لَا تَوْجَلْ اِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلٰمٍ عَلِيْمٍ

Qaaloo laa tawjal innaa nubashshiruka bighulaamin 'aleem

They said: Be not afraid, surely we give you the good news of a boy, possessing knowledge.

انہوں نے کہا کہ آپ ڈریں نہیں ہم آپ کو ایک فرزند دانا کی بشارت دینے کے لئے آئے ہیں۔

قَالَ اَبَشَّرْتُمُوْنِيْ عَلٰٓى اَن مَّسَّنِيَ الْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُوْنَ

Qaala abashshartumoonee 'alaa an massaniya al-kibaru fabima tubashshiroon

He said: Do you give me good news (of a son) when old age has come upon me?- Of what then do you give me good news!

ابراہیمؑ نے کہا کہ اب جب کہ بڑھاپا چھاگیا ہے تو مجھے کس چیز کی بشارت دے رہے ہو۔

قَالُوْا بَشَّرْنٰكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ الْقٰنِطِيْنَ

Qaaloo bashsharnaaka bil-haqqi falaa takun mina al-qaaniteen

They said: We give you good news with truth, therefore be not of the despairing.

انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم آپ کو بالکل سچی بشارت دے رہے ہیں خبردار آپ مایوسوں میں سے نہ ہوجائیں۔

قَالَ وَمَنْ يَّقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهٖٓ اِلَّا الضَّآلُّوْنَ

Qaala waman yaqnatu min rahmati rabbihee illaa ad-daalloon

He said: And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord but the erring ones?

ابراہیمؑ نے کہا کہ رحمتِ خدا سے سوائے گمراہوں کے کون مایوس ہوسکتا ہے۔

قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ اَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُوْنَ

Qaala famaa khatbukum ayyuhaa al-mursaloon

He said: What is your business then, O messengers?

پھر کہا کہ مگر یہ تو بتائیے کہ آپ لوگوں کا مقصد کیا ہے۔

قَالُوْٓا اِنَّآ اُرْسِلْنَآ اِلٰى قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِيْنَ

Qaaloo innaa ursilnaa ilaa qawmin mujrimeen

They said: Surely we are sent towards a guilty people

انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم ایک مجرم قوم کی طرف بھیجے گئے ہیں۔

اِلَّآ اٰلَ لُوْطٍ اِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوْهُمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ

Illaa aala lootin innaa lamunajjoohum ajma'een

Except Lut’s followers: We will most surely deliver them all

علاوہ لوطؑ کے گھر والوں کے کہ ان میں کے ہر ایک کو نجات دینے والے ہیں۔

اِلَّا امْرَاَتَهٗ قَدَّرْنَآ اِنَّهَا لَمِنَ الْغٰبِرِيْنَ

Illaa imra'atahoo qaddarnaa innahaa lamina al-ghaabireen

Except his wife; We ordained that she shall surely be of those who remain behind.

علاوہ ان کی بیوی کے کہ اس کے لئے ہم نے طے کردیا ہے کہ وہ عذاب میں رہ جانے والوں میں سے ہوگی۔

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ اٰلَ لُوْطِ الْمُرْسَلُوْنَ

Falammaa jaa'a aala looti al-mursaloon

So when the messengers came to Lut’s followers

پھر جب فرشتے آلِ لوط کے پاس آئے۔

قَالَ اِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنْكَرُوْنَ

Qaala innakum qawmun munkaroon

He said: Surely you are an unknown people.

اور لوطؑ نے کہا کہ تم تو اجنبی قسم کے لوگ معلوم ہوتے ہو۔

قَالُوْا بَلْ جِئْنٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوْا فِيْهِ يَمْتَرُوْنَ

Qaaloo bal ji'naaka bimaa kaanoo feehi yamtaroon

They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed.

تو انہوں نے کہا ہم وہ عذاب لے کر آئے ہیں جس میں آپ کی قوم شک کیا کرتی تھی۔

وَاَتَيْنٰكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَاِنَّا لَصٰدِقُوْنَ

Wa-ataynaaka bil-haqqi wa-innaa lasaadiqoon

And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful.

اب ہم وہ برحق عذاب لے کر آئے ہیں اور ہم بالکل سچے ہیں۔

فَاَسْرِ بِاَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ الَّيْلِ وَاتَّبِعْ اَدْبَارَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ اَحَدٌ وَّامْضُوْا حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُوْنَ

Fa-asri bi-ahlika biqit'in mina allayli wattabi' adbaarahum walaa yaltafit minkum ahadun wamdoo haythu tu'maroon

Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not anyone of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded.

آپ رات گئے اپنے اہل کو لے کر نکل جائیں اور خود پیچھے پیچھے سب کی نگرانی کرتے چلیں اور کوئی پیچھے کی طرف مڑ کر بھی نہ دیکھے اور جدھر کا حکم دیا گیا ہے سب ادھر ہی چلے جائیں۔

وَقَضَيْنَآ اِلَيْهِ ذٰلِكَ الْاَمْرَ اَنَّ دَابِرَ هٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقْطُوْعٌ مُّصْبِحِيْنَ

Waqadaynaa ilayhi zaalika al-amra anna daabira haa'ulaa'i maqtoo'un musbiheen

And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning.

اور ہم نے اس امر کا فیصلہ کرلیا ہے کہ صبح ہوتے ہوتے اس قوم کی جڑیں تک کاٹ دی جائیں گی۔

وَجَآءَ اَهْلُ الْمَدِيْنَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُوْنَ

Wajaa'a ahlu al-madeenati yastabshiroon

And the people of the town came rejoicing.

اور ادھر شہر والے نئے مہمانوں کو دیکھ کر خوشیاں مناتے ہوئے آگئے۔

قَالَ اِنَّ هٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيْفِيْ فَلَا تَفْضَحُوْنِ

Qaala inna haa'ulaa'i dayfee falaa tafdahoon

He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me

لوطؑ نے کہا کہ یہ ہمارے مہمان ہیں خبردار ہمیں بدنام نہ کرنا۔

وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ وَلَا تُخْزُوْنِ

Wattaqoo allaaha walaa tukhzoon

And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame.

اور اللہ سے ڈرو اور رسوائی کا سامان نہ کرو۔

قَالُوْٓا اَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ

Qaaloo awalam nanhaka 'ani al-'aalameen

They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people?

ان لوگوں نے کہا کہ کیا ہم نے آپ کو سب کے آنے سے منع نہیں کردیا تھا۔

قَالَ هٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنٰتِيْٓ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ فٰعِلِيْنَ

Qaala haa'ulaa'i banaatee in kuntum faa'ileen

He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught).

لوطؑ نے کہا کہ یہ ہماری قوم کی لڑکیاں حاضر ہیں اگر تم ایسا ہی کرنا چاہتے ہو۔

لَعَمْرُكَ اِنَّهُمْ لَفِيْ سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُوْنَ

La'amruka innahum lafee sakratihim ya'mahoon

By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication.

آپ کی جان کی قسم یہ لوگ گمراہی کے نشہ میں اندھے ہورہے ہیں۔

فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِيْنَ

Fa-akhazat-humu as-sayhatu mushriqeen

So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise;

نتیجہ یہ ہوا کہ صبح ہوتے ہی انہیں ایک چیخ نے اپنی گرفت میں لے لیا۔

فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَاَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّنْ سِجِّيْلٍ

Faja'alnaa 'aaliyahaa saafilahaa wa-amtarnaa 'alayhim hijaaratan min sijjeel

Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed.

پھر ہم نے انہیں تہ و بالا کردیا اور ان کے اوپر کھڑنجے اور پتھروں کی بارش کردی۔

اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِيْنَ

Inna fee zaalika la-aayaatin lilmutawassimeen

Surely in this are signs for those who examine.

ان باتوں میں صاحبانِ ہوش کے لئے بڑی نشانیاں پائی جاتی ہیں۔

وَاِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيْلٍ مُّقِيْمٍ

Wa-innahaa labisabeelin muqeem

And surely it is on a road that still abides.

اور یہ بستی ایک مستقل چلنے والے راستہ پر ہے۔

اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

Inna fee zaalika la-aayatan lilmu'mineen

Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers.

اور بےشک اس میں بھی صاحبانِ ایمان کے لئے نشانیاں ہیں۔

وَاِنْ كَانَ اَصْحٰبُ الْاَيْكَةِ لَظٰلِمِيْنَ

Wa-in kaana ashaabu al-aykati lazaalimeen

And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust.

اور اگرچہ ایکہ والے ظالم تھے۔

فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَاِنَّهُمَا لَبِاِمَامٍ مُّبِيْنٍ

Fantaqamnaa minhum wa-innahumaa labi-imaamin mubeen

So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued.

تو ہم نے ان سے بھی انتقام لیا اور یہ دونوں بستیاں واضح شاہراہ پر ہیں۔

وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ اَصْحٰبُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

Walaqad kazzaba ashaabu al-hijri al-mursaleen

And the dwellers of the Rock certainly rejected the messengers;

اور اصحابِ حجر نے بھی مرسلین کی تکذیب کی

وَاٰتَيْنٰهُمْ اٰيٰتِنَا فَكَانُوْا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِيْنَ

Wa-aataynaahum aayaatinaa fakaanoo 'anhaa mu'rideen

And We gave them Our communications, but they turned aside from them;

اور ہم نے انہیں بھی اپنی نشانیاں دیں تو وہ اعراض کرنے والے ہی رہ گئے۔

وَكَانُوْا يَنْحِتُوْنَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوْتًا اٰمِنِيْنَ

Wakaanoo yanhitoona mina al-jibaali buyootan aamineen

And they hewed houses in the mountains in security.

اور یہ لوگ پہاڑ کو تراش کر محفوظ قسم کے مکانات بناتے تھے۔

فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِيْنَ

Fa-akhazat-humu as-sayhatu musbiheen

So the rumbling overtook them in the morning;

تو انہیں بھی صبح سویرے ہی ایک چنگھاڑ نے پکڑلیا۔

فَمَآ اَغْنٰى عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوْا يَكْسِبُوْنَ

Famaa aghnaa 'anhum maa kaanoo yaksiboon

And what they earned did not avail them.

تو انہوں نے جس قدر بھی حاصل کیا تھا کچھ کام نہ آیا۔

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَاِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَاٰتِيَةٌ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِيْلَ

Wamaa khalaqnaa as-samaawaati wal-arda wamaa baynahumaa illaa bil-haqqi wa-inna as-saa'ata la-aatiyatun fasfahi as-safha al-jameel

And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but in truth; and the hour is most surely coming, so turn away with kindly forgiveness.

اور ہم نے آسمان و زمین اور ان کے درمیان جو کچھ بھی ہے سب کو برحق پیدا کیا ہے اور قیامت بہرحال آنے والی ہے لہذا آپ ان سے خوبصورتی کے ساتھ درگزر کردیں۔

اِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْخَلّٰقُ الْعَلِيْمُ

Inna rabbaka huwa al-khallaaqu al-'aleem

Surely your Lord is the Creator of all things, the Knowing.

بےشک آپ کا پروردگار سب کا پیدا کرنے والا اور سب کا جاننے والا ہے۔

وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنٰكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ الْمَثَانِيْ وَالْقُرْاٰنَ الْعَظِيْمَ

Walaqad aataynaaka sab'an mina al-mathaanee wal-qur'aana al-'azeem

And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the grand Quran.

اور ہم نے آپ کو سبع مثانی اور قرآن عظیم عطا کیا ہے۔

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ اِلٰى مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهٖٓ اَزْوَاجًا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

Laa tamuddanna 'aynayka ilaa maa matta'naa bihee azwaajan minhum walaa tahzan 'alayhim wakhfid janaahaka lil-mu'mineen

Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers.

لہذا آپ ان کفار میں بعض افراد کو ہم نے جو کچھ نعماتِ دنیا عطا کردی ہیں ان کی طرف نگاہ اٹھا کر بھی نہ دیکھیں اور اس کے بارے میں ہرگز رنجیدہ بھی نہ ہوں بس آپ اپنے شانوں کو صاحبانِ ایمان کے لئے جھکائے رکھیں۔

وَقُلْ اِنِّيْٓ اَنَا النَّذِيْرُ الْمُبِيْنُ

Waqul innee anaa an-nazeeru al-mubeen

And say: Surely I am the plain warner.

اور یہ کہہ دیں کہ میں تو بہت واضح انداز سے ڈرانے والا ہوں۔

كَمَآ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَى الْمُقْتَسِمِيْنَ

Kamaa anzalnaa 'alaa al-muqtasimeen

Like as We sent down on the dividers

جس طرح کہ ہم نے ان لوگوں پر عذاب نازل کیا ہے جو کتابِ خدا کا حصّہ بانٹ کرنے والے تھے۔

اَلَّذِيْنَ جَعَلُوا الْقُرْاٰنَ عِضِيْنَ

Allazeena ja'aloo al-qur'aana 'ideen

Those who made the Quran into shreds.

جن لوگوں نے قرآن کو ٹکڑے کردیا ہے۔

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْئَلَنَّهُمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ

Fawarabbika lanas'alannahum ajma'een

So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all

لہذا آپ کے پروردگار کی قسم کہ ہم ان سے اس بارے میں ضرور سوال کریں گے۔

عَمَّا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ

'Ammaa kaanoo ya'maloon

As to what they did.

جو کچھ وہ کیا کرتے تھے۔

فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَاَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكِيْنَ

Fasda' bimaa tu'maru wa-a'rid 'ani al-mushrikeen

Therefore declare openly what you are bidden and turn aside from the polytheists.

پس آپ اس بات کا واضح اعلان کردیں جس کا حکم دیا گیا ہے اور مشرکین سے کنارہ کش ہوجائیں۔

اِنَّا كَفَيْنٰكَ الْمُسْتَهْزِئِيْنَ

Innaa kafaynaaka al-mustahzi'een

Surely We will suffice you against the scoffers

ہم ان استہزاء کرنے والوں کے لئے کافی ہیں۔

اَلَّذِيْنَ يَجْعَلُوْنَ مَعَ اللهِ اِلٰهًا اٰخَرَ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُوْنَ

Allazeena yaj'aloona ma'a allaahi ilaahan aakhara fasawfa ya'lamoon

Those who set up another god with Allah; so they shall soon know.

جو خدا کے ساتھ دوسرا خدا قرار دیتے ہیں اور عنقریب انہیں ان کا حال معلوم ہوجائے گا۔

وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ اَنَّكَ يَضِيْقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُوْلُوْنَ

Walaqad na'lamu annaka yadeequ sadruka bimaa yaqooloon

And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say;

اور ہم جانتے ہیں کہ آپ ان کی باتوں سے تنگ دل ہورہے ہیں۔

فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ السّٰجِدِيْنَ

Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wakun mina as-saajideen

Therefore celebrate the praise of your Lord, and be of those who make obeisance.

تو اب اپنے پروردگار کے حمدکی تسبیح کیجئے اور سجدہ گزاروں میں شامل ہوجایئے۔

وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتّٰى يَاْتِيَكَ الْيَقِيْنُ

Wa'bud rabbaka hattaa ya'tiyaka al-yaqeen

And serve your Lord until there comes to you that which is certain.

اور اس وقت تک اپنے رب کی عبادت کرتے رہئے جب تک کہ موت نہ آجائے۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem.

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
