Surah Bani Israeel (17, 111 ayat)سورۂ اسراء

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Glory be to Him Who made His servant to go on a night from the Sacred Mosque to the remote mosque of which We have blessed the precincts, so that We may show to him some of Our signs; surely He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

پاک و پاکیزہ ہے وہ پروردگار جو اپنے بندے کو راتوں رات مسجد الحرام سے مسجد اقصٰی تک لے گیا جس کے اطراف کو ہم نے بابرکت بنایا ہے تاکہ ہم اسے اپنی بعض نشانیاں دکھلائیں بےشک وہ پروردگار سب کی سننے والا اور سب کچھ دیکھنے والا ہے۔

And We gave Musa the Book and made it a guidance to the children of Israel, saying: Do not take a protector besides Me;

اور ہم نے موسٰیؑ کو کتاب عنایت کی اور اس کتاب کو بنی اسرائیل کے لئے ہدایت بنا دیا کہ خبردار میرے علاوہ کسی کو اپنا کارساز نہ بنانا۔

The offspring of those whom We bore with Nuh; surely he was a grateful servant.

یہ بنی اسرائیل ان کی اولاد ہیں جن کو ہم نے نوح کے ساتھ کشتی میں اٹھایاتھا جو ہمارے شکر گزار بندے تھے۔

And We had made known to the children of Israel in the Book: Most certainly you will make mischief in the land twice, and most certainly you will behave insolently with great insolence.

اور ہم نے بنی اسرائیل کو کتاب میں یہ اطلاع بھی دے دی تھی کہ تم زمین میں دو مرتبہ فساد کرو گے اور خوب بلندی حاصل کرو گے۔

So when the promise for the first of the two came, We sent over you Our servants, of mighty prowess, so they went to and fro among the houses, and it was a promise to be accomplished.

اس کے بعد جب پہلے وعدہ کا وقت آگیا تو ہم نے تمہارے اوپر اپنے ان بندوں کو مسلّط کردیا جو بہت سخت قسم کے جنگجو تھے اور انہوں نے تمہارے دیار میں چن چن کر تمہیں مارا اور یہ ہمارا ہونے والا وعدہ تھا۔

Then We gave you back the turn to prevail against them, and aided you with wealth and children and made you a numerous band.

اس کے بعد ہم نے تمہیں دوبارہ ان پر غلبہ دیا اور اموال و اولاد سے تمہاری مدد کی اور تمہیں بڑے گروہ والا بنادیا۔

If you do good, you will do good for your own souls, and if you do evil, it shall be for them. So when the second promise came (We raised another people) that they may bring you to grief and that they may enter the mosque as they entered it the first time, and that they might destroy whatever they gained ascendancy over with utter destruction.

اب تم نیک عمل کرو گے تو اپنے لئے اور برا کرو گے تو اپنے لئے کرو گے۔اس کے بعد جب دوسرے وعدہ کا وقت آگیا تو ہم نے دوسری قوم کو مسلّط کردیا تاکہ تمہاری شکلیں بگاڑ دیں اور مسجد میں اس طرح داخل ہوں جس طرح پہلے داخل ہوئے تھے اور جس چیز پر بھی قابو پالیں اسے باقاعدہ تباہ و برباد کردیں۔

It may be that your Lord will have mercy on you, and if you again return (to disobedience) We too will return (to punishment), and We have made hell a prison for the unbelievers.

امید ہے کہ تمہارا پروردگار تم پر رحم کردے لیکن اگر تم نے دوبارہ فساد کیا تو ہم پھر سزا دیں گے اور ہم نے جہنّم کو کافروں کے لئے ایک قید خانہ بنادیا ہے۔

Surely this Quran guides to that which is most upright and gives good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a great reward.

بےشک یہ قرآن اس راستہ کی ہدایت کرتا ہے جو بالکل سیدھا ہے اور ان صاحبانِ ایمان کو بشارت دیتا ہے جو نیک اعمال بجالاتے ہیں کہ ان کے لئے بہت بڑا اجر ہے۔

And that (as for) those who do not believe in the hereafter, We have prepared for them a painful chastisement.

اور جو لوگ آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے ہیں ان کے لئے ہم نے ایک دردناک عذاب مہیّا کر رکھا ہے۔

And man prays for evil as he ought to pray for good, and man is ever hasty.

اور انسان کبھی کبھی اپنے حق میں بھلائی کی طرح برائی کی دعا مانگنے لگتا ہے کہ انسان بہت جلد باز واقع ہوا ہے۔

And We have made the night and the day two signs, then We have made the sign of the night to pass away and We have made the sign of the day manifest, so that you may seek grace from your Lord, and that you might know the numbering of years and the reckoning; and We have explained everything with distinctness.

اور ہم نے رات اور دن کو اپنی نشانی قرار دیا ہے پھر ہم رات کی نشانی کو مٹا دیتے ہیں اور دن کی نشانی کو روشن کردیتے ہیں تاکہ تم اپنے پروردگار کے فضل و انعام کو طلب کرسکو اور سال اور حساب کے اعداد معلوم کرسکو اور ہم نے ہر شے کو تفصیل کے ساتھ بیان کردیا ہے۔

And We have made every man’s actions to cling to his neck, and We will bring forth to him on the resurrection day a book which he will find wide open:

اور ہم نے ہر انسان کے نامئہ اعمال کو اس کی گردن میں آویزاں کردیا ہے اور روزِ قیامت اسے ایک کھلی ہوئی کتاب کی طرح پیش کردیں گے۔

Read your book; your own self is sufficient as a reckoner against you this day.

کہ اب اپنی کتاب کو پڑھ لو آج تمہارے حساب کے لئے یہی کتاب کافی ہے۔

Whoever goes aright, for his own soul does he go aright; and whoever goes astray, to its detriment only does he go astray: nor can the bearer of a burden bear the burden of another, nor do We chastise until We raise an apostle.

جو شخص بھی ہدایت حاصل کرتا ہے وہ اپنے فائدہ کے لئے کرتا ہے اور جو گمراہی اختیار کرتا ہے وہ بھی اپنا ہی نقصان کرتا ہے اور کوئی کسی کا بوجھ اٹھانے والا نہیں ہے اور ہم تو اس وقت تک عذاب کرنے والے نہیں ہیں جب تک کہ کوئی رسول نہ بھیج دیں۔

And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction.

اور ہم نے جب بھی کسی قریہ کو ہلاک کرنا چاہا تو اس کے ثروت مندوں پر احکام نافذ کردئے اور انہوں نے ان کی نافرمانی کی تو ہماری بات ثابت ہوگئی اور ہم نے اسے مکمل طور پر تباہ کردیا۔

And how many of the generations did We destroy after Nuh! and your Lord is sufficient as Knowing and Seeing with regard to His servants’ faults.

اور ہم نے نوحؑ کے بعد بھی کتنی اُمّتوں کو ہلاک کردیا ہے اور تمہارا پروردگار بندوں کے گناہوں کا بہترین جاننے والا اور دیکھنے والا ہے۔

Whoever desires this present life, We hasten to him therein what We please for whomsoever We desire, then We assign to him the hell; he shall enter it despised, driven away.

جو شخص بھی دنیا کا طلب گار ہے ہم اس کے لئے جلد ہی جو چاہتے ہیں دے دیتے ہیں پھر اس کے بعد اس کے لئے جہنّم ہے جس میں وہ ذلّت و رسوائی کے ساتھ داخل ہوگا۔

And whoever desires the hereafter and strives for it as he ought to strive and he is a believer; (as for) these, their striving shall surely be accepted.

اور جو شخص آخرت کا چاہنے والا ہے اور اس کے لئے ویسی ہی سعی (کوشش) بھی کرتا ہے اور صاحبِ ایمان بھی ہے تو اس کی سعی یقینًا مقبول قرار دی جائے گی۔

All do We aid- these as well as those- out of the bounty of your Lord, and the bounty of your Lord is not confined.

ہم آپ کے پروردگار کی عطا و بخشش سے اِن کی اور اُن کی سب کی مدد کرتے ہیں اور آپ کے پروردگار کی عطا کسی پر بند نہیں ہے۔

See how We have made some of them to excel others, and certainly the hereafter is much superior in respect of excellence.

آپ دیکھئے کہ ہم نے کس طرح بعض کو بعض پر فضیلت دی ہے اور پھر آخرت کے درجات اور وہاں کی فضیلتیں تو اور زیادہ بزرگ و برتر ہیں۔

Do not associate with Allah any other god, lest you sit down despised, neglected.

خبردار اپنے پروردگار کے ساتھ کوئی دوسرا خدا قرار نہ دینا کہ اس طرح قابل مذمّت اور لاوارث بیٹھے رہ جاؤ گے اور کوئی خدا کام نہ آئے گا۔

And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, and goodness to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) “Ugh” nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word.

اور آپ کے پروردگار کا فیصلہ ہے کہ تم سب اس کے علاوہ کسی کی عبادت نہ کرنا اور ماں باپ کے ساتھ اچھا برتاؤ کرنا اور اگر تمہارے سامنے ان دونوں میں سے کوئی ایک یا دونوں بوڑھے ہوجائیں تو خبردار ان سے اُف بھی نہ کہنا اور انہیں جھڑکنا بھی نہیں اور ان سے ہمیشہ شریفانہ گفتگو کرتے رہنا۔

And make yourself submissively gentle to them with compassion, and say: O my Lord! have compassion on them, as they brought me up (when I was) little.

اور ان کے لئے خاکساری کے ساتھ اپنے کاندھوں کو جھکا دینا اور ان کے حق میں دعا کرتے رہنا کہ پروردگار اُن دونوں پر اسی طرح رحمت نازل فرما جس طرح کہ انہوں نے بچپنے میں مجھے پالا ہے۔

Your Lord knows best what is in your minds; if you are good, then He is surely Forgiving to those who turn (to Him) frequently.

تمہارا پروردگار تمہارے دلوں کے حالات سے خوب باخبر ہے اور اگر تم صالح اور نیک کردار ہو تو وہ توبہ کرنے والوں کے لئے بہت بخشنے والا بھی ہے۔

And give to the near of kin his due and (to) the needy and the wayfarer, and do not squander wastefully.

اور دیکھو قرابتداروں کو اور مسکین کو اور مسافر غربت زدہ کو اس کا حق دے دو اور خبردار اسراف سے کام نہ لینا۔

Surely the squanderers are the fellows of the Shaitans and the Shaitan is ever ungrateful to his Lord.

اسراف کرنے والے شیاطین کے بھائی بند ہیں اور شیطان تو اپنے پروردگار کا بہت بڑا انکار کرنے والا ہے۔

And if you turn away from them to seek mercy from your Lord, which you hope for, speak to them a gentle word.

اگر تم کو اپنے رب کی رحمت کے انتظار میں جس کے تم امیدوار ہو ان افراد سے کنارہ کش بھی ہونا پڑے تو ان سے نرم انداز سے گفتگو کرنا۔

And do not make your hand to be shackled to your neck nor stretch it forth to the utmost (limit) of its stretching forth, lest you should (afterwards) sit down blamed, stripped off.

اور خبردار نہ اپنے ہاتھوں کو گردنوں سے بندھا ہوا قرار دو اور نہ بالکل پھیلا دو کہ آخر میں قابل ملامت اور خالی ہاتھ بیٹھے رہ جاؤ۔

Surely your Lord makes plentiful the means of subsistence for whom He pleases and He straitens (them); surely He is ever Aware of, Seeing, His servants.

تمہارا پروردگار جس کے لئے چاہتا ہے رزق کو وسیع یا تنگ بنا دیتا ہے وہ اپنے بندوں کے حالات کا خوب جاننے والا اور دیکھنے والا ہے۔

And do not kill your children for fear of poverty; We give them sustenance and yourselves (too); surely to kill them is a great wrong.

اور خبردار اپنی اولاد کو فاقہ کے خوف سے قتل نہ کرنا کہ ہم انہیں بھی رزق دیتے ہیں اور تمہیں بھی رزق دیتے ہیں بےشک ان کا قتل کردینا بہت بڑا گناہ ہے۔

And go not nigh to fornication; surely it is an indecency and an evil way.

اور دیکھو زنا کے قریب بھی نہ جانا کہ یہ بدکاری ہے اور بہت بُرا راستہ ہے۔

And do not kill anyone whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause, and whoever is slain unjustly, We have indeed given to his heir authority, so let him not exceed the just limits in slaying; surely he is aided.

اور کسی نفس کو جس کو خدا نے محترم بنایا ہے بغیر حق کے قتل بھی نہ کرنا کہ جو مظلوم قتل ہوتا ہے ہم اس کے ولی کو بدلہ کا اختیار دے دیتے ہیں لیکن اسے بھی چاہئے کہ قتل میں حد سے آگے نہ بڑھ جائے کہ اس کی بہرحال مدد کی جائے گی۔

And draw not near to the property of the orphan except in a goodly way till he attains his maturity and fulfill the promise; surely (every) promise shall be questioned about.

اور یتیم کے مال کے قریب بھی نہ جانا مگر اس طرح جو بہترین طریقہ ہے یہاں تک کہ وہ توانا ہوجائے اور اپنے عہدوں کو پورا کرنا کہ عہد کے بارے میں سوال کیا جائے گا۔

And give full measure when you measure out, and weigh with a true balance; this is fair and better in the end.

اور جب ناپو تو پورا ناپو اور جب تولو تو صحیح ترازو سے تولو کہ یہی بہتری اور بہترین انجام کا ذریعہ ہے۔

And follow not that of which you have not the knowledge; surely the hearing and the sight and the heart, all of these, shall be questioned about that.

اور جس چیز کا تمہیں علم نہیں ہے اس کے پیچھے مت جانا کہ روزِ قیامت سماعت، بصارت اور قوائے قلب سب کے بارے میں سوال کیا جائے گا۔

And do not go about in the land exultingly, for you cannot cut through the earth nor reach the mountains in height.

اور روئے زمین پر اکڑ کر نہ چلنا کہ نہ تم زمین کو شق کرسکتے ہو اور نہ سر اٹھا کر پہاڑوں کی بلندیوں تک پہنچ سکتے ہو۔

All this- the evil of it- is hateful in the sight of your Lord.

یہ سب باتیں وہ ہیں جن کی برائی تمہارے پروردگار کے نزدیک سخت ناپسند ہے۔

This is of what your Lord has revealed to you of wisdom, and do not associate any other god with Allah lest you should be thrown into hell, blamed, cast away.

یہ وہ حکمت ہے جس کی وحی تمہارے پروردگار نے تمہاری طرف کی ہے اور خبردار خدا کے ساتھ کسی اور کو خدا نہ قرار دینا کہ جہنّم میں ملامت اور ذلّت کے ساتھ ڈال دیئے جاؤ۔

What! has then your Lord preferred to give you sons, and (for Himself) taken daughters from among the angels? Most surely you utter a grievous saying.

کیا تمہارے پروردگار نے تم لوگوں کے لئے لڑکوں کو پسند کیا ہے اور اپنے لئے ملائکہ میں سے لڑکیاں بنائی ہیں یہ تم بہت بڑی بات کہہ رہے ہو۔

And certainly We have repeated (warnings) in this Quran that they may be mindful, but it does not add save to their aversion.

اور ہم نے اس قرآن میں سب کچھ طرح طرح سے بیان کردیا ہے کہ یہ لوگ عبرت حاصل کریں لیکن ان کی نفرت ہی میں اضافہ ہورہا ہے۔

Say: If there were with Him gods as they say, then certainly they would have been able to seek a way to the Lord of power.

تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ ان کے کہنے کے مطابق اگر خدا کے ساتھ کچھ اور خدا بھی ہوتے تو اب تک صاحبِ عرش تک پہنچنے کی کوئی راہ نکال لیتے۔

Glory be to Him and exalted be He in high exaltation above what they say.

وہ پاک اور بے نیاز ہے اور ان کی باتوں سے بہت زیادہ بلند و بالا ہے۔

The seven heavens declare His glory and the earth (too), and those who are in them; and there is not a single thing but glorifies Him with His praise, but you do not understand their glorification; surely He is Forbearing, Forgiving.

ساتوں آسمان اور زمین اور جو کچھ ان کے درمیان ہے سب اس کی تسبیح کررہے ہیں اور کوئی شے ایسی نہیں ہے جو اس کی تسبیح نہ کرتی ہو یہ اور بات ہے کہ تم ان کی تسبیح کو نہیں سمجھتے ہو، پروردگار بہت برداشت کرنے والا اور درگذر کرنے والا ہے۔

And when you recite the Quran, We place between you and those who do not believe in the hereafter a hidden barrier;

اور جب تم قرآن پڑھتے ہو تو ہم تمہارے اور آخرت پر ایمان نہ رکھنے والوں کے درمیان حجاب قائم کردیتے ہیں۔

And We have placed coverings on their hearts and a heaviness in their ears lest they understand it, and when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran they turn their backs in aversion.

اور ان کے دلوں پر پردے ڈال دیتے ہیں کہ کچھ سمجھ نہ سکیں اور ان کے کانوں کو بہرہ بنادیتے ہیں اور جب تم قرآن میں اپنے پروردگار کا تنہا ذکر کرتے ہو تو یہ الٹے پاؤں متنفر ہوکر بھاگ جاتے ہیں۔

We know best what they listen to when they listen to you, and when they take counsel secretly, when the unjust say: You follow only a man deprived of reason.

ہم خوب جانتے ہیں کہ یہ لوگ آپ کی طرف کان لگا کر سنتے ہیں تو کیا سنتے ہیں اور جب یہ باہم راز داری کی باتیں کرتے ہیں تو ہم اسے بھی جانتے ہیں یہ ظالم آپس میں کہتے ہیں کہ تم لوگ ایک جادو زدہ انسان کی پیروی کررہے ہو۔

See what they liken you to! So they have gone astray and cannot find the way.

ذرا دیکھو کہ انہوں نے تمہارے لئے کیسی مثالیں بیان کی ہیں اور اس طرح ایسے گمراہ ہوگئے ہیں کہ کوئی راستہ نہیں مل رہا ہے۔

And they say: What! when we shall have become bones and decayed particles, shall we then certainly be raised up, being a new creation?

اور یہ کہتے ہیں کہ جب ہم ہڈی اور خاک ہوجائیں گے تو کیا دوبارہ نئی مخلوق بناکر اٹھائے جائیں گے۔

Say: Become stones or iron

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تم پتھر یا لوہا بن جاؤ۔

Or some other creature of those which are too hard (to receive life) in your minds! But they will say: Who will return us? Say: Who created you at first. Still they will shake their heads at you and say: When will it be? Say: Maybe it has drawn nigh.

یا تمہارے خیال میں جو اس سے بڑی مخلوق ہوسکتی ہو وہ بن جاؤ پس عنقریب یہ لوگ کہیں گے کہ ہمیں کون دوبارہ واپس لاسکتا ہے تو کہہ دیجئے کہ جس نے تمہیں پہلی مرتبہ پیدا کیا ہے پھر یہ لوگ استہزاء میں سر ہلائیں گے اور کہیں گے کہ یہ سب کب ہوگا تو کہہ دیجئے کہ شاید قریب ہی ہوجائے۔

On the day when He will call you forth, then shall you obey Him, giving Him praise, and you will think that you tarried but a little (while).

جس دن وہ تمہیں بلائے گا اور تم سب اس کی تعریف کرتے ہوئے لبیک کہو گے اور خیال کرو گے کہ بہت تھوڑی دیر دنیا میں رہے ہو۔

And say to My servants (that) they speak that which is best; surely the Shaitan sows dissensions among them; surely the Shaitan is an open enemy to man.

اور میرے بندوں سے کہہ دیجئے کہ صرف اچھی باتیں کیا کریں ورنہ شیطان یقینًا ان کے درمیان فساد پیدا کرنا چاہے گا کہ شیطان انسان کا کھلا ہوا دشمن ہے۔

Your Lord knows you best; He will have mercy on you if He pleases, or He will chastise you if He pleases; and We have not sent you as being in charge of them.

تمہارا پروردگار تمہارے حالات سے بہتر واقف ہے وہ چاہے گا تو تم پر رحم کرے گا اور چاہے گا تو عذاب کرے گا اور پیغمبر ہم نے آپ کو ان کا ذمہ دار بناکر نہیں بھیجا ہے۔

And your Lord best knows those who are in the heavens and the earth; and certainly We have made some of the prophets to excel others, and to Dawood We gave a scripture.

اور آپ کا پروردگار زمین و آسمان کی ہر شے سے باخبر ہے اور ہم نے بعض انبیاء کو بعض پر فضیلت دی ہے اور داؤدؑ کو زبور عطا کی ہے۔

Say: Call on those whom you assert besides Him, so they shall not control the removal of distress from you nor (its) transference.

اور ان لوگوں سے کہہ دیجئے کہ خدا کے علاوہ جن کا بھی خیال ہے سب کو بلالیں کوئی نہ ان کی تکلیف کو دور کرنے کا اختیار رکھتا ہے اور نہ ان کے حالات کے بدلنے کا۔

Those whom they call upon, themselves seek the means of access to their Lord- whoever of them is nearest- and they hope for His mercy and fear His chastisement; surely the chastisement of your Lord is a thing to be cautious of.

یہ جن کو خدا سمجھ کر پکارتے ہیں وہ خود ہی اپنے پروردگار کے لئے وسیلہ تلاش کررہے ہیں کہ کون زیادہ قربت رکھنے والا ہے اور سب اسی کی رحمت کے امیدوار اور اسی کے عذاب سے خوفزدہ ہیں یقینًا آپ کے پروردگار کا عذاب ڈرنے کے لائق ہے۔

And there is not a town but We will destroy it before the day of resurrection or chastise it with a severe chastisement; this is written in the Divine ordinance.

اور کوئی نافرمان آبادی ایسی نہیں ہے جسے ہم قیامت سے پہلے برباد نہ کردیں یا اس پرشدید عذاب نہ نازل کردیں کہ یہ بات کتاب میں لکھ دی گئی ہے۔

And nothing could have hindered Us that We should send signs except that the ancients rejected them; and We gave to Samood the she-camel- a manifest sign- but on her account they did injustice, and We do not send signs but to make (men) fear.

اور ہمارے لئے منہ مانگی نشانیاں بھیجنے سے صرف یہ بات مانع ہے کہ پہلے والوں نے تکذیب کی ہے اور ہلاک ہوگئے ہیں اور ہم نے قوم ثمود کو ان کی خواہش کے مطابق اونٹنی دے دی جو ہماری قدرت کو روشن کرنے والی تھی لیکن ان لوگوں نے اس پر ظلم کیا اور ہم تو نشانیوں کو صرف ڈرانے کے لئے بھیجتے ہیں۔

And when We said to you: Surely your Lord encompasses men; and We did not make the vision which We showed you but a trial for men and the cursed tree in the Quran as well; and We cause them to fear, but it only adds to their great inordinacy.

اور جب ہم نے کہہ دیا کہ آپ کا پروردگار تمام لوگوں کے حالات سے باخبر ہے اور جو خواب ہم نے آپ کو دکھلایا ہے وہ صرف لوگوں کی آزمائش کا ذریعہ ہے جس طرح کہ قرآن میں قابل لعنت شجرہ بھی ایسا ہی ہے اور ہم لوگوں کو ڈراتے رہتے ہیں لیکن ان کی سرکشی بڑھتی ہی جارہی ہے۔

And when We said to the angels: Make obeisance to Adam; they made obeisance, but Iblis (did it not). He said: Shall I make obeisance to him whom Thou hast created of dust?

اور جب ہم نے ملائکہ سے کہا کہ آدم کو سجدہ کرو تو سب نے سجدہ کرلیا سوائے ابلیس کے کہ اس نے کہا کہ کیا میں اسے سجدہ کروں جسے تو نے مٹی سے بنایا ہے۔

He said: Tell me, is this he whom Thou hast honored above me? If Thou shouldst respite me to the day of resurrection, I will most certainly cause his progeny to perish except a few.

کیا تو نے دیکھا ہے کہ یہ کیا شے ہے جسے میرے اوپر فضیلت دے دی ہے اب اگر تو نے مجھے قیامت تک کی مہلت دے دی تو میں ان کی ذریت میں چند افراد کے علاوہ سب کا گلا گھونٹتا رہوں گا۔

He said: Be gone! for whoever of them will follow you, then surely hell is your recompense, a full recompense:

جواب ملا کہ جا اب جو بھی تیرا اتباع کرے گا تم سب کی جزا مکمل طور پر جہنّم ہے۔

And beguile whomsoever of them you can with your voice, and collect against them your forces riding and on foot, and share with them in wealth and children, and hold out promises to them; and the Shaitan makes not promises to them but to deceive:

جا جس پر بھی بس چلے اپنی آواز سے گمراہ کر اور اپنے سوار اور پیادوں سے حملہ کردے اور ان کے اموال اور اولاد میں شریک ہوجا اور ان سے خوب وعدے کر کہ شیطان سوائے دھوکہ دینے کے اور کوئی سچا وعدہ نہیں کرسکتا ہے۔

Surely (as for) My servants, you have no authority over them; and your Lord is sufficient as a Protector.

بےشک میرے اصلی بندوں پر تیرا کوئی بس نہیں ہے اور آپ کا پروردگار ان کی نگہبانی کے لئے کافی ہے۔

Your Lord is He Who speeds the ships for you in the sea that you may seek of His grace; surely He is ever Merciful to you.

اور آپ کا پروردگار ہی وہ ہے جو تم لوگوں کے لئے سمندر میں کشتیاں چلاتا ہے تاکہ تم اس کے فضل و کرم کو تلاش کرسکو کہ وہ تمہارے حال پر بڑا مہربان ہے۔

And when distress afflicts you in the sea, away go those whom you call on except He; but when He brings you safe to the land, you turn aside; and man is ever ungrateful.

اور جب دریا میں تمہیں کوئی تکلیف پہنچی تو خدا کے علاوہ سب غائب ہوگئے جنہیں تم پکار رہے تھے اور پھر جب خدا نے تمہیں بچا کر خشکی تک پہنچا دیا تو تم پھر کنارہ کش ہوگئے اور انسان تو بڑا ناشکرا ہے۔

What! Do you then feel secure that He will not cause a tract of land to engulf you or send on you a tornado? Then you shall not find a protector for yourselves.

کیا تم اس بات سے محفوظ ہوگئے ہو کہ وہ تمہیں خشکی ہی میں دھنسادے یا تم پر پتھروں کی بوچھاڑ کردے اور اس کے بعد پھر کوئی کارساز نہ ملے۔

Or, do you feel secure that He will (not) take you back into it another time, then send on you a fierce gale and thus drown you on account of your ungratefulness? Then you shall not find any aider against Us in the matter.

یا اس بات سے محفوظ ہوگئے ہو کہ وہ دوبارہ تمہیں سمندر میں لے جائے اور پھر تیز آندھیوں کو بھیج کر تمہارے کفر کی بنا پر تمہیں غرق کردے اور اس کے بعد کوئی ایسا نہ پاؤ جو ہمارے حکم کا پیچھا کرسکے۔

And surely We have honored the children of Adam, and We carry them in the land and the sea, and We have given them of the good things, and We have made them to excel by an appropriate excellence over most of those whom We have created.

اور ہم نے بنی آدم کو کرامت عطا کی ہے اور انہیں خشکی اور دریاؤں میں سواریوں پر اٹھایا ہے اور انہیں پاکیزہ رزق عطا کیا ہے اور اپنی مخلوقات میں سے بہت سوں پر فضیلت دی ہے۔

(Remember) the day when We will call every people with their Imam; then whoever is given his book in his right hand, these shall read their book; and they shall not be dealt with a whit unjustly.

قیامت کا دن وہ ہوگا جب ہم ہر گروہ انسانی کو اس کے پیشوا کے ساتھ بلائیں گے اور اس کے بعد جن کا نامئہ اعمال ان کے داہنے ہاتھ میں دیا جائے گا وہ اپنے صحیفہ کو پڑھیں گے اور ان پر ریشہ برابر ظلم نہیں ہوگا۔

And whoever is blind in this, he shall (also) be blind in the hereafter; and more erring from the way.

اور جو اسی دنیا میں اندھا ہے وہ قیامت میں بھی اندھا اور بھٹکا ہوا رہے گا۔

And surely they had purposed to turn you away from that which We have revealed to you, that you should forge against Us other than that, and then they would certainly have taken you for a friend.

اور یہ ظالم اس بات کے کوشاں تھے کہ آپ کو ہماری وحی سے ہٹا کر دوسری باتوں کے افترا پر آمادہ کردیں اور اس طرح یہ آپ کو اپنا دوست بنالیتے۔

And had it not been that We had already established you, you would certainly have been near to incline to them a little;

اور اگر ہماری توفیق خاص نے آپ کو ثابت قدم نہ رکھا ہوتا تو آپ (بشری طور پر) کچھ نہ کچھ ان کی طرف مائل ضرور ہوجاتے۔

In that case We would certainly have made you to taste a double (punishment) in this life and a double (punishment) after death, then you would not have found any helper against Us.

اور پھر ہم زندگانی دنیا اور موت دونوں مرحلوں پر دُہرا مزہ چکھاتے اور آپ ہمارے خلاف کوئی مددگار اور کمک کرنے والا بھی نہ پاتے۔

And surely they purposed to unsettle you from the land that they might expel you from it, and in that case they will not tarry behind you but a little.

اور یہ لوگ آپ کو زمین مکّہ سے دل برداشتہ کررہے تھے کہ وہاں سے نکال دیں حالانکہ آپ کے بعد یہ بھی تھوڑے دنوں سے زیادہ نہ ٹھہر سکے۔

(This is Our) course with regard to those of Our apostles whom We sent before you, and you shall not find a change in Our course.

یہ آپ سے پہلے بھیجے جانے والے رسولوں میں ہمارا طریقہ کار رہا ہے اور آپ ہمارے طریقہ کار میں کوئی تغیر نہ پائیں گے۔

Keep up prayer from the declining of the sun till the darkness of the night and the morning recitation; surely the morning recitation is witnessed.

آپ زوالِ آفتاب سے رات کی تاریکی تک نماز قائم کریں اور نماز صبح بھی کہ نماز صبح کے لئے گواہی کا انتظام کیا گیا ہے۔

And during a part of the night, pray Tahajjud (the midnight prayer) beyond what is incumbent on you; maybe your Lord will raise you to a position of great glory.

اور رات کے ایک حصّہ میں قرآن کے ساتھ بیدار رہیں یہ آپ کے لئے اضافہ خیر ہے عنقریب آپ کا پروردگار اسی طرح آپ کو مقام محمود تک پہنچادے گا۔

And say: My Lord! make me to enter a goodly entering, and cause me to go forth a goodly going forth, and grant me from near Thee power to assist (me).

اور یہ کہئے کہ پروردگار مجھے اچھی طرح سے آبادی میں داخل کر اور بہترین انداز سے باہر نکال اور میرے لئے ایک طاقت قرار دے دے جو میری مددگار ثابت ہو۔

And say: The truth has come and the falsehood has vanished; surely falsehood is a vanishing (thing).

اور کہہ دیجئے کہ حق آگیا اور باطل فنا ہوگیا کہ باطل بہرحال فنا ہونے والا ہے۔

And We reveal of the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers, and it adds only to the perdition of the unjust.

اور ہم قرآن میں وہ سب کچھ نازل کررہے ہیں جو صاحبانِ ایمان کے لئے شفا اور رحمت ہے اور ظالمین کے لئے خسارہ میں اضافہ کے علاوہ کچھ نہ ہوگا۔

And when We bestow favor on man, he turns aside and behaves proudly, and when evil afflicts him, he is despairing.

اور ہم جب انسان پر کوئی نعمت نازل کرتے ہیں تو وہ پہلو بچا کر کنارہ کش ہوجاتا ہے اور جب تکلیف ہوتی ہے تو مایوس ہوجاتا ہے۔

Say: Everyone acts according to his manner; but your Lord best knows who is best guided in the path.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ ہر ایک اپنے طریقہ پر عمل کرتا ہے تو تمہارا پروردگار بھی خوب جانتا ہے کہ کون سب سے زیادہ سیدھے راستہ پر ہے۔

And they ask you about the soul. Say: The soul is one of the commands of my Lord, and you are not given aught of knowledge but a little.

اور پیغمبر یہ آپ سے روح کے بارے میں دریافت کرتے ہیں تو کہہ دیجئے کہ یہ میرے پروردگار کا ایک امر ہے اور تمہیں بہت تھوڑا سا علم دیا گیا ہے۔

And if We please, We should certainly take away that which We have revealed to you, then you would not find for it any protector against Us.

اور اگر ہم چاہیں تو جو کچھ آپ کو وحی کے ذریعہ دیا گیا ہے اسے اُٹھالیں اور اس کے بعد ہمارے مقابلہ میں کوئی سازگار اور ذمہ دار نہ ملے۔

But on account of mercy from your Lord- surely His grace to you is abundant.

مگر یہ کہ آپ کے پروردگار کی مہربانی ہوجائے کہ اس کا فضل آپ پر بہت بڑا ہے۔

Say: If men and jinn should combine together to bring the like of this Quran, they could not bring the like of it, though some of them were aiders of others.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر انسان اور جنات سب اس بات پر متفق ہوجائیں کہ اس قرآن کا مثل لے آئیں تو بھی نہیں لاسکتے چاہے سب ایک دوسرے کے مددگار اور پشت پناہ ہی کیوں نہ ہوجائیں۔

And certainly We have explained for men in this Quran every kind of similitude, but most men do not consent to aught but denying.

اور ہم نے اس قرآن میں ساری مثالیں اُلٹ پلٹ کر بیان کردی ہیں لیکن اس کے بعد پھر بھی اکثر لوگوں نے کفر کے علاوہ ہر بات سے انکار کردیا ہے۔

And they say: We will by no means believe in you until you cause a fountain to gush forth from the earth for us.

اور ان لوگوں نے کہنا شروع کردیا کہ ہم تم پر ایمان نہ لائیں گے جب تک ہمارے لئے زمین سے چشمہ نہ جاری کردو۔

Or you should have a garden of palms and grapes in the midst of which you should cause rivers to flow forth, gushing out.

یا تمہارے پاس کھجور اور انگور کے باغ ہوں جن کے درمیان تم نہریں جاری کردو۔

Or you should cause the heaven to come down upon us in pieces as you think, or bring Allah and the angels face to face (with us).

یا ہمارے اوپر اپنے خیال کے مطابق آسمان کو ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کرکے گرادو یا اللہ اور ملائکہ کو ہمارے سامنے لاکر کھڑا کردو۔

Or you should have a house of gold, or you should ascend into heaven, and we will not believe in your ascending until you bring down to us a book which we may read. Say: Glory be to my Lord; am I aught but a mortal apostle?

یا تمہارے پاس سونے کا کوئی مکان ہو یا تم آسمان کی بلندی پر چڑھ جاؤ اور اس بلندی پر بھی ہم ایمان نہ لائیں گے جب تک کوئی ایسی کتاب نازل نہ کردو جسے ہم پڑھ لیں آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ ہمارا پروردگار بڑا بے نیاز ہے اور میں صرف ایک بشر ہوں جسے رسول بناکر بھیجا گیا ہے۔

And nothing prevented people from believing when the guidance came to them except that they said: What! has Allah raised up a mortal to be an apostle?

اور ہدایت کے آجانے کے بعد لوگوں کے لئے ایمان لانے سے کوئی شے مانع نہیں ہوئی مگر یہ کہ کہنے لگے کہ کیا خدا نے کسی بشر کو رسول بناکر بھیج دیا ہے۔

Say: Had there been in the earth angels walking about as settlers, We would certainly have sent down to them from the heaven an angel as an apostle.

تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر زمین میں ملائکہ اطمینان سے ٹہلتے ہوتے تو ہم آسمان سے ملک ہی کو رسول بناکر بھیجتے۔

Say: Allah suffices as a witness between me and you; surely He is Aware of His servants, Seeing.

کہہ دیجئے کہ ہمارے اور تمہارے درمیان گواہ بننے کے لئے خدا کافی ہے کہ وہی اپنے بندوں کے حالات سے باخبر ہے اور ان کی کیفیات کا دیکھنے والا ہے۔

And whomsoever Allah guides, he is the follower of the right way, and whomsoever He causes to err, you shall not find for him guardians besides Him; and We will gather them together on the day of resurrection on their faces, blind and dumb and deaf; their abode is hell; whenever it becomes allayed We will add to their burning.

اور جس کو خدا ہدایت دے دے وہی ہدایت یافتہ ہے اور جس کو گمراہی میں چھوڑ دے اس کے لئے اس کے علاوہ کوئی مددگار نہ پاؤ گے اور ہم انہیں روزِ قیامت منہ کے بل گونگے اندھے بہرے محشور کریں گے اور ان کا ٹھکانا جہنّم ہوگا کہ جس کی آگ بجھنے بھی لگے گی تو ہم شعلوں کو مزید بھڑکا دیں گے۔

This is their retribution because they disbelieved in Our communications and said: What! when we shall have become bones and decayed particles, shall we then indeed be raised up into a new creation?

یہ اس بات کی سزا ہے کہ انہوں نے ہماری نشانیوں کا انکار کیا ہے اور یہ کہا ہے کہ ہم ہڈیاں اور مٹی کا ڈھیر بن جائیں گے تو کیا دوبارہ ازسرِ نو پھر پیدا کئے جائیں گے۔

Do they not consider that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, is able to create their like, and He has appointed for them a doom about which there is no doubt? But the unjust do not consent to aught but denying.

کیا ان لوگوں نے یہ نہیں دیکھا ہے کہ جس نے آسمان و زمین کو پیدا کیا ہے وہ اس کا جیسا دوسرا بھی پیدا کرنے پر قادر ہے اور اس نے ان کے لئے ایک مدّت مقرر کردی ہے جس میں کسی شک کی گنجائش نہیں ہے مگر ظالموں نے کفر کے علاوہ ہر چیز سے انکار کردیا ہے۔

Say: If you control the treasures of the mercy of my Lord, then you would withhold (them) from fear of spending, and man is miserly.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر تم لوگ میرے پروردگار کے خزانوں کے مالک ہوتے تو خرچ ہوجانے کے خوف سے سب روک لیتے اور انسان تو تنگ دل ہی واقع ہوا ہے۔

And certainly We gave Musa nine clear signs; so ask the children of Israel. When he came to them, Firon said to him: Most surely I deem you, O Musa, to be a man deprived of reason.

اور ہم نے موسٰیؑ کو نوکھلی ہوئی نشانیاں دی تھیں تو بنی اسرائیل سے پوچھو کہ جب موسٰیؑ ان کے پاس آئے تو فرعون نے ان سے کہہ دیا کہ میں تو تم کو سحر زدہ خیال کررہا ہوں۔

He said: Truly you know that none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth has sent down these as clear proof and most surely I believe you, O Firon, to be given over to perdition.

موسٰیؑ نے کہا کہ تمہیں معلوم ہے کہ سب معجزات آسمان و زمین کے مالک نے بصیرت کا سامان بناکر نازل کئے ہیں اور اے فرعون میں خیال کررہا ہوں کہ تیری شامت آگئی ہے۔

So he desired to destroy them out of the earth, but We drowned him and those with him all together;

فرعون نے چاہا کہ ان لوگوں کو اس سرزمین سے نکال باہر کردے لیکن ہم نے اس کو اس کے ساتھیوں سمیت دریا میں غرق کردیا۔

And We said to the Israelites after him: Dwell in the land: and when the promise of the next life shall come to pass, we will bring you both together in judgment.

اور اس کے بعد بنی اسرائیل سے کہہ دیا کہ اب زمین میں آباد ہوجاؤ پھر جب آخرت کے وعدہ کا وقت آجائے گا تو ہم تم سب کو سمیٹ کر لے آئیں گے۔

And with truth have We revealed it, and with truth did it come; and We have not sent you but as the giver of good news and as a warner.

اور ہم نے اس قرآن کو حق کے ساتھ نازل کیاہے اور یہ حق ہی کے ساتھ نازل ہوا ہے اور ہم نے آپ کو صرف بشارت دینے والا اورڈرانے والا بناکر بھیجا ہے۔

And it is a Quran which We have revealed in portions so that you may read it to the people by slow degrees, and We have revealed it, revealing in portions.

اور ہم نے قرآن کو متفرق بناکر نازل کیا ہے تاکہ تم تھوڑا تھوڑا لوگوں کے سامنے پڑھو اور ہم نے خود اسے تدریجا نازل کیا ہے۔

Say: Believe in it or believe not; surely those who are given the knowledge before it fall down on their faces, making obeisance when it is recited to them.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تم ایمان لاؤ یا نہ لاؤ جن کو اس کے پہلے علم دے دیا گیا ہے ان پرتلاوت ہوتی ہے تو منہ کے بل سجدہ میں گر پڑتے ہیں۔

And they say: Glory be to our Lord! most surely the promise of our Lord was to be fulfilled.

اور کہتے ہیں کہ ہمارا رب پاک و پاکیزہ ہے اور اس کا وعدہ یقینًا پورا ہونے والا ہے۔

And they fall down on their faces weeping, and it adds to their humility.

اور وہ منہ کے بل گر پڑتے ہیں روتے ہیں اوروہ قرآن ان کے خشوع میں اضافہ کردیتا ہے۔

Say: Call upon Allah or call upon, the Beneficent God; whichever you call upon, He has the best names; and do not utter your prayer with a very raised voice nor be silent with regard to it, and seek a way between these.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ اللہ کہہ کر پکارو یا رحمٰن کہہ کر پکارو جس طرح بھی پکارو گے اس کے تمام نام بہترین ہیں اور اپنی نمازوں کو نہ چلاکر پڑھو اورنہ بہت آہستہ آہستہ بلکہ دونوں کا درمیانی راستہ نکالو۔

And say: (All) praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son and Who has not a partner in the kingdom, and Who has not a helper to save Him from disgrace; and proclaim His greatness magnifying (Him).

اور کہو کہ ساری حمد اس اللہ کے لئے ہے جس نے نہ کسی کو فرزند بنایا ہے اورنہ کوئی اس کے ملک میں شریک ہے اور نہ کوئی اس کی کمزوری کی بنا پر اس کاسرپرست ہے اورپھر باقاعدہ اس کی بزرگی کا اعلان کرتے رہو۔

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
