Juz 21 (Sipara)جز (سیپارہ)-۲۱

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Recite that which has been revealed to you of the Book and keep up prayer; surely prayer keeps (one) away from indecency and evil, and certainly the remembrance of Allah is the greatest, and Allah knows what you do.

آپ جس کتاب کی آپ کی طرف وحی کی گئی ہے اسے پڑھ کر سنائیں اور نماز قائم کریں کہ نماز ہر برائی اور بدکاری سے روکنے والی ہے اور اللہ کا ذکر بہت بڑی شے ہے اور اللہ تمہارے کاروبار سے خوب باخبر ہے۔

And do not dispute with the followers of the Book except by what is best, except those of them who act unjustly, and say: We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our God and your God is One, and to Him do we submit.

اور اہلِ کتاب سے مناظرہ نہ کرو مگر اس انداز سے جو بہترین انداز ہے علاوہ ان کے جو ان میں سے ظالم ہیں اور یہ کہو کہ ہم اس پر ایمان لائے ہیں جو ہماری اور تمہاری دونوں کی طرف نازل ہوا ہے اور ہمارا اور تمہارا خدا ایک ہی ہے اور ہم سب اسی کے اطاعت گزار ہیں۔

And thus have We revealed the Book to you. So those whom We have given the Book believe in it, and of these there are those who believe in it, and none deny Our communications except the unbelievers.

اور اسی طرح ہم نے آپ کی طرف کتاب نازل کی تو جن لوگوں کو ہم نے کتاب دی ہے وہ اس کتاب پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور ان میں سے بھی بعض لوگ ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور ہماری آیات کا انکار کافروں کے علاوہ کوئی نہیں کرتا ہے۔

And you did not recite before it any book, nor did you transcribe one with your right hand, for then could those who say untrue things have doubted.

اور اے پیغمبر آپ اس قرآن سے پہلے نہ کوئی کتاب پڑھتے تھے اور نہ اپنے ہاتھ سے کچھ لکھتے تھے ورنہ یہ اہل باطل شبہ میں پڑ جاتے۔

Nay! these are clear communications in the breasts of those who are granted knowledge; and none deny Our communications except the unjust.

در حقیقت یہ قرآن چند کھلی ہوئی آیتوں کا نام ہے جو ان کے سینوں میں محفوظ ہیں جنہیں علم دیا گیا ہے اور ہماری آیات کا انکار ظالموں کے علاوہ کوئی نہیں کرتا ہے۔

And they say: Why are not signs sent down upon him from his Lord? Say: The signs are only with Allah, and I am only a plain warner.

اور یہ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ آخر ان پر پروردگار کی طرف سے آیات کیوں نہیں نازل ہوتی ہیں تو آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ آیات سب اللہ کے پاس ہیں اور میں تو صرف واضح طور پر عذابِ الہٰی سے ڈرانے والا ہوں۔

Is it not enough for them that We have revealed to you the Book which is recited to them? Most surely there is mercy in this and a reminder for a people who believe.

کیا ان کے لئے یہ کافی نہیں ہے کہ ہم نے آپ پر کتاب نازل کی ہے جس کی ان کے سامنے تلاوت کی جاتی ہے اور یقینًا اس میں رحمت اور ایماندار قوم کے لئے یاد دہانی کا سامان موجود ہے۔

Say: Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you; He knows what is in the heavens and the earth. And (as for) those who believe in the falsehood and disbelieve in Allah, these it is that are the losers.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ ہمارے اور تمہارے درمیان گواہی کے لئے خدا کافی ہے جو آسمان اور زمین کی ہر چیز سے باخبر ہے اور جو لوگ باطل پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور اللہ کا انکار کرتے ہیں وہ یقینًا خسارہ اٹھانے والے لوگ ہیں۔

And they ask you to hasten on the chastisement; and had not a term been appointed, the chastisement would certainly have come to them; and most certainly it will come to them all of a sudden while they will not perceive.

اور یہ لوگ عذاب کی جلدی کر رہے ہیں حالانکہ اگر اس کا وقت معین نہ ہوتا تو اب تک عذاب آچکا ہوتا اور وہ اچانک ہی آئے گا جب انہیں شعور بھی نہ ہو گا۔

They ask you to hasten on the chastisement, and most surely hell encompasses the unbelievers;

یہ عذاب کی جلدی کر رہے ہیں حالانکہ جہنّم یقینًا کافروں کو اپنے گھیرے میں لینے والا ہے۔

On the day when the chastisement shall cover them from above them, and from beneath their feet; and He shall say: Taste what you did.

جس دن عذاب انہیں اوپر سے اور نیچے سے ڈھانک لے گا اور کہے گا کہ اب اپنے اعمال کا مزہ چکھو۔

O My servants who believe! surely My earth is vast, therefore Me alone should you serve.

میرے ایماندار بندو! میری زمین بہت وسیع ہے لہٰذا میری ہی عبادت کرو۔

Every soul must taste of death, then to Us you shall be brought back.

ہر نفس موت کا مزہ چکھنے والا ہے اس کے بعد تم سب ہماری بارگاہ میں پلٹا کر لائے جاؤ گے۔

And (as for) those who believe and do good, We will certainly give them abode in the high places in gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein; how good the reward of the workers:

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے ہیں اور انہوں نے نیک اعمال کئے ہیں انہیں ہم جنّت کے جھروکوں (باغوں) میں جگہ دیں گے جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہوں گی اور وہ ہمیشہ ان ہی میں رہیں گے کہ یہ ان عمل کرنے والوں کا بہترین اجر ہے۔

Those who are patient, and on their Lord do they rely.

جن لوگوں نے صبر کیا ہے اور اپنے پروردگار پر بھروسہ کرتے ہیں۔

And how many a living creature that does not carry its sustenance: Allah sustains it and yourselves; and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

اور زمین پر چلنے والے بہت سے ایسے بھی ہیں جو اپنی روزی کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھا سکتے ہیں لیکن خدا انہیں اور تمہیں سب کو رزق دے رہا ہے وہ سب کی سننے والا اور سب کے حالات کا جاننے والا ہے۔

And if you ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth and made the sun and the moon subservient, they will certainly say, Allah. Whence are they then turned away?

اور اگر آپ ان سے پوچھیں گے کہ آسمان و زمین کو کس نے پیدا کیا ہے اور آفتاب و ماہتاب کو کس نے مسخّر کیا ہے تو فورًا کہیں گے کہ اللہ، تو یہ کدھر بہکے چلے جا رہے ہیں۔

Allah makes abundant the means of subsistence for whom He pleases of His servants, and straitens them for whom (He pleases) surely Allah is Cognizant of all things.

اللہ ہی جس کے رزق میں چاہتا ہے وسعت پیدا کر دیتا ہے اور جس کے رزق کو چاہتا ہے تنگ کر دیتا ہے وہ ہر شے کا خوب جاننے والا ہے۔

And if you ask them Who is it that sends down water from the clouds, then gives life to the earth with it after its death, they will certainly say, Allah. Say: All praise is due to Allah. Nay, most of them do not understand.

اور اگر آپ ان سے پوچھیں گے کس نے آسمان سے پانی برسایا ہے اور پھر زمین کو مردہ ہونے کے بعد زندہ کیا ہے تو یہ کہیں گے کہ اللہ ہی ہے تو پھر کہہ دیجئے کہ ساری حمد اللہ کے لئے ہے اور ان کی اکثریت عقل استعمال نہیں کر رہی ہے۔

And this life of the world is nothing but a sport and a play; and as for the next abode, that most surely is the life- did they but know!

اور یہ زندگانی دنیا ایک کھیل تماشے کے سوا کچھ نہیں ہے اور آخرت کا گھر ہمیشہ کی زندگی کا مرکز ہے اگر یہ لوگ کچھ جانتے اور سمجھتے ہوں۔

So when they ride in the ships they call upon Allah, being sincerely obedient to Him, but when He brings them safe to the land, lo! they associate others (with Him);

پھر جب یہ لوگ کشتی میں سوار ہوتے ہیں تو ایمان و عقیدہ کے پورے اخلاص کے ساتھ خدا کو پکارتے ہیں پھر جب وہ نجات دے کر خشکی تک پہنچا دیتا ہے تو فورًا شرک اختیار کر لیتے ہیں۔

Thus they become ungrateful for what We have given them, so that they may enjoy; but they shall soon know.

تاکہ جو کچھ ہم نے عطا کیا ہے اس کا انکار کر دیں اور دنیا میں مزے اُڑائیں تو عنقریب انہیں اس کا انجام معلوم ہو جائے گا۔

Do they not see that We have made a sacred territory secure, while men are carried off by force from around them? Will they still believe in the falsehood and disbelieve in the favour of Allah?

کیا ان لوگوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ ہم نے ان کے واسطے ایک محفوظ حرم بنا دیا ہے جس کے چاروں طرف لوگ اچک لئے جاتے ہیں تو کیا یہ باطل پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور اللہ کی نعمت کا انکار کر دیتے ہیں۔

And who is more unjust than one who forges a lie against Allah, or gives the lie to the truth when it has come to him? Will not in hell be the abode of the unbelievers?

اور اس سے بڑا ظالم کون ہے جو اللہ کی طرف جھوٹی باتوں کی نسبت دے یا حق کے آجانے کے بعد بھی اس کا انکار کر دے تو کیا جہنّم میں کفار کا ٹھکانا نہیں ہے۔

And (as for) those who strive hard for Us, We will most certainly guide them in Our ways; and Allah is most surely with the doers of good.

اور جن لوگوں نے ہمارے حق میں جہاد کیا ہے ہم انہیں اپنے راستوں کی ہدایت کریں گے اور یقینًا اللہ حسن عمل والوں کے ساتھ ہے۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Alif Lam Mim.

الم

The Romans are vanquished

روم والے مغلوب ہو گئے۔

In a near land, and they, after being vanquished, shall overcome

قریب ترین علاقہ میں لیکن یہ مغلوب ہو جانے کے بعد عنقریب پھر غالب ہو جائیں گے۔

Within a few years. Allah’s is the command before and after; and on that day the believers shall rejoice

چند سال کے اندر، اللہ ہی کے لئے اوّل و آخر ہر زمانہ کا اختیار ہے اور اسی دن صاحبانِ ایمان خوشی منائیں گے۔

With the help of Allah; He helps whom He pleases; and He is the Mighty, the Merciful;

اللہ کی نصرت و امداد کے سہارے کہ وہ جس کی امداد چاہتا ہے کر دیتا ہے اور وہ صاحبِ عزّت بھی ہے اور مہربان بھی ہے۔

(This is) Allah’s promise! Allah will not fail His promise, but most people do not know.

یہ اللہ کا وعدہ ہے اور اللہ اپنے وعدہ کے خلاف نہیں کرتا ہے مگر لوگوں کی اکثریت اس حقیقت سے بھی بے خبر ہے۔

They know the outward of this world’s life, but of the hereafter they are absolutely heedless.

یہ لوگ صرف زندگانی دنیا کے ظاہر کو جانتے ہیں اور آخرت کی طرف سے بالکل غافل ہیں۔

Do they not reflect within themselves: Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but with truth, and (for) an appointed term? And most surely most of the people are deniers of the meeting of their Lord.

کیا ان لوگوں نے اپنے اندر فکر نہیں کی ہے کہ خدا نے آسمان و زمین اور اس کے درمیان کی تمام مخلوقات کو برحق ہی پیدا کیا ہے اور ایک معین مدّت کے ساتھ لیکن لوگوں کی اکثریت اپنے پروردگار کی ملاقات سے انکار کرنے والی ہے۔

Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than these in prowess, and dug up the earth, and built on it in greater abundance than these have built on it, and there came to them their apostles with clear arguments; so it was not beseeming for Allah that He should deal with them unjustly, but they dealt unjustly with their own souls.

اور کیا ان لوگوں نے زمین میں سیر نہیں کی ہے کہ دیکھتے کہ ان سے پہلے والوں کا کیا انجام ہوا ہے جو طاقت میں ان سے زیادہ مضبوط تھے اور انہوں نے زراعت (کھیتی) کر کے زمین کو ان سے زیادہ آباد کر لیا تھا اور ان کے پاس ہمارے نمائندے زیادہ کھلی ہوئی نشانیاں بھی لے کر آئے تھے یقینًا خدا اپنے بندوں پر ظلم نہیں کرتا ہے بلکہ یہ لوگ خود ہی اپنے اوپر ظلم کرتے ہیں۔

Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they rejected the communications of Allah and used to mock them.

اس کے بعد برائی کرنے والوں کا انجام برا ہوا کہ انہوں نے خدا کی نشانیوں کو جھٹلا دیا اور برابر ان کا مذاق اڑاتے رہے۔

Allah originates the creation, then reproduces it, then to Him you shall be brought back.

اللہ ہی تخلیق کی ابتدا کرتا ہے اور پھر پلٹا بھی دیتا ہے اور پھر تم سب اسی کی بارگاہ میں واپس لے جائے جاؤ گے۔

And at the time when the hour shall come the guilty shall be in despair.

اور جس دن قیامت قائم کی جائے گی اس دن سارے مجرمین مایوس ہو جائیں گے۔

And they shall not have any intercessors from among their gods they have joined with God, and they shall be deniers of their associate-gods.

اور ان کے شرکاء میں کوئی سفارش کرنے والا نہ ہو گا اور یہ خود بھی اپنے شرکاء کا انکار کرنے والے ہوں گے۔

And at the time when the hour shall come, at that time they shall become separated one from the other.

اور جس دن قیامت قائم ہو گی سب لوگ آپس میں گروہوں میں تقسیم ہو جائیں گے۔

Then as to those who believed and did good, they shall be made happy in a garden.

پس جو ایمان والے اور نیک عمل والے ہوں گے وہ باغِ جنّت میں نہال اور خوشحال ہوں گے۔

And as to those who disbelieved and rejected Our communications and the meeting of the hereafter, these shall be brought over to the chastisement.

اور جن لوگوں نے کفر اختیار کیا اور ہماری آیات اور روزِ آخرت کی ملاقات کی تکذیب کی وہ عذاب میں ضرور گرفتار کئے جائیں گے۔

Therefore glory be to Allah when you enter upon the time of the evening and when you enter upon the time of the morning.

لہذا تم لوگ تسبیح پروردگار کرو اس وقت جب شام کرتے ہو اور جب صبح کرتے ہو۔

And to Him belongs praise in the heavens and the earth, and at nightfall and when you are at midday.

اور زمین و آسمان میں ساری حمد اسی کے لئے ہے اور عصر کے ہنگام اور جب دوپہر کرتے ہو۔

He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and gives life to the earth after its death, and thus shall you be brought forth.

وہ خدا زندہ کو مردہ سے اور مردہ کو زندہ سے نکالتا ہے اور زمین کو مردہ ہو جانے کے بعد پھر زندہ کرتا ہے اور اسی طرح ایک دن تمہیں بھی نکالا جائے گا۔

And one of His signs is that He created you from dust, then lo! you are mortals (who) scatter.

اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے ایک یہ بھی ہے کہ اس نے تمہیں خاک سے پیدا کیا ہے اور اس کے بعد تم بشر کی شکل میں پھیل گئے ہو۔

And one of His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves that you may find rest in them, and He put between you love and compassion; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.

اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے یہ بھی ہے کہ اس نے تمہارا جوڑا تم ہی میں سے پیدا کیا ہے تاکہ تمہیں اس سے سکون حاصل ہو اور پھر تمہارے درمیان محبت اور رحمت قرار دی ہے کہ اس میں صاحبانِ فکر کے لئے بہت سی نشانیاں پائی جاتی ہیں۔

And one of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your tongues and colors; most surely there are signs in this for the learned.

اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے آسمان و زمین کی خلقت اور تمہاری زبانوں اور تمہارے رنگوں کا اختلاف بھی ہے کہ اس میں صاحبانِ علم کے لئے بہت سی نشانیاں پائی جاتی ہیں۔

And one of His signs is your sleeping and your seeking of His grace by night and (by) day; most surely there are signs in this for a people who would hear.

اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے یہ بھی ہے کہ تم رات اور دن کو آرام کرتے ہو اور پھر فضل خدا کو تلاش کرتے ہو کہ اس میں بھی سننے والی قوم کے لئے بہت سی نشانیاں پائی جاتی ہیں۔

And one of His signs is that He shows you the lightning for fear and for hope, and sends down water from the clouds then gives life therewith to the earth after its death; most surely there are signs in this for a people who understand.

اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے یہ بھی ہے کہ وہ بجلی کو خوف اور امید کا مرکز بنا کر دکھلاتا ہے اور آسمان سے پانی برساتا ہے پھر اس کے ذریعہ مردہ زمین کو زندہ بناتا ہے بےشک اس میں بھی اس قوم کے لئے بہت سی نشانیاں ہیں جو عقل رکھنے والی ہے۔

And one of His signs is that the heaven and the earth subsist by His command, then when He calls you with a (single) call from out of the earth, lo! you come forth.

اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے یہ بھی ہے کہ آسمان و زمین اسی کے حکم سے قائم ہیں اور اس کے بعد وہ جب تم سب کو طلب کرے گا تو سب زمین سے یک بارگی برآمد ہو جائیں گے۔

And His is whosoever is in the heavens and the earth; all are obedient to Him.

آسمان و زمین میں جو کچھ بھی ہے سب اسی کی ملکیت ہے اور سب اسی کے تابع فرمان ہیں۔

And He it is Who originates the creation, then reproduces it, and it is easy to Him; and His are the most exalted attributes in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

اور وہی وہ ہے جو خلقت کی ابتدا کرتا ہے اور پھر دوبارہ بھی پیدا کرے گا اور یہ کام اس کے لئے بے حد آسان ہے اور اسی کے لئے آسمان اور زمین میں سب سے بہترین مثال ہے اور وہی سب پر غالب آنے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

He sets forth to you a parable relating to yourselves: Have you among those whom your right hands possess partners in what We have given you for sustenance, so that with respect to it you are alike; you fear them as you fear each other? Thus do We make the communications distinct for a people who understand.

اس نے تمہارے لئے تمہاری ہی مثال بیان کی ہے کہ جو رزق ہم نے تم کو عطا کیا ہے کیا اس میں تمہارے مملوک (اپنے) غلام و کنیز میں کوئی تمہارا شریک ہے کہ تم سب برابر ہو جاؤ اور تمہیں ان کا خوف اسی طرح ہو جس طرح اپنے نفوس کے بارے میں خوف ہوتا ہے، بےشک ہم اپنی نشانیوں کو صاحبِ عقل قوم کے لئے اسی طرح واضح کر کے بیان کرتے ہیں۔

Nay! those who are unjust follow their low desires without any knowledge; so who can guide him whom Allah makes err? And they shall have no helpers.

حقیقت یہ ہے کہ ظالموں نے بغیر جانے بوجھے اپنی خواہشات کا اتباع کر لیا ہے تو جس کو خدا گمراہی میں چھوڑ دے اسے کون ہدایت دے سکتا ہے اور ان کا تو کوئی ناصر و مدد گار بھی نہیں ہے۔

Then set your face upright for religion in the right state- the nature made by Allah in which He has made men; there is no altering of Allah’s creation; that is the right religion, but most people do not know-

آپ اپنے رخ کو دین کی طرف رکھیں اور باطل سے کنارہ کش رہیں کہ یہ دین وہ فطرتِ الٰہی ہے جس پر اس نے انسانوں کو پیدا کیا ہے اور خلقتِ الہٰی میں کوئی تبدیلی نہیں ہو سکتی ہے یقینًا یہی سیدھا اور مستحکم دین ہے مگر لوگوں کی اکثریت اس بات سے بالکل بے خبر ہے۔

Turn to Him, and be careful of (your duty to) Him and keep up prayer and be not of the polytheists

تم سب اپنی توجہ خدا کی طرف رکھو اور اسی سے ڈرتے رہو، نماز قائم کرو اور خبردار مشرکین میں سے نہ ہو جانا۔

Of those who divided their religion and became sects, every sect rejoicing in what they had with them

ان لوگوں میں سے جنہوں نے دین میں تفرقہ پیدا کیا ہے اور گروہوں میں بٹ گئے ہیں پھر ہر گروہ جو کچھ اس کے پاس ہے اسی پر مست اور مگن ہے۔

And when harm afflicts men, they call upon their Lord, turning to Him, then when He makes them taste of mercy from Him, lo! some of them begin to associate (others) with their Lord

اور لوگوں کو جب بھی کوئی مصیبت چھو جاتی ہے تو وہ پروردگار کو پوری توجہ کے ساتھ پکارتے ہیں اس کے بعد جب وہ رحمت کا مزہ چکھا دیتا ہے تو ان میں سے ایک گروہ شرک کرنے لگتا ہے۔

So as to be ungrateful for what We have given them; but enjoy yourselves (for a while), for you shall soon come to know.

تاکہ جو کچھ ہم نے عطا کیا ہے اس کا انکار کر دے تو تم مزے کرو اس کے بعد تو سب کو معلوم ہی ہو جائے گا۔

Or, have We sent down upon them an authority so that it speaks of that which they associate with Him?

کیا ہم نے ان کے اوپر کوئی دلیل نازل کی ہے جو ان سے ان کے شرک کے جواز کو بیان کرتی ہے۔

And when We make people taste of mercy they rejoice in it, and if an evil befall them for what their hands have already wrought, lo! they are in despair.

اور جب ہم انسانوں کو رحمت کا مزہ چکھا دیتے ہیں تو وہ خوش ہو جاتے ہیں اور جب انہیں ان کے سابقہ کردار کی بنا پر کوئی تکلیف پہنچ جاتی ہے تو وہ مایوسی کا شکار ہو جاتے ہیں۔

Do they not see that Allah makes ample provision for whom He pleases, or straitens? Most surely there are signs in this for a people who believe.

تو کیا ان لوگوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ خدا جس کے رزق میں چاہتا ہے وسعت پیدا کر دیتا ہے اور جس کے یہاں چاہتا ہے کمی کر دیتا ہے اور اس میں بھی صاحبِ ایمان قوم کے لئے اس کی نشانیاں ہیں۔

Then give to the near of kin his due, and to the needy and the wayfarer; this is best for those who desire Allah’s pleasure, and these it is who are successful.

اور تم قرابتدار، مسکین اور غربت زدہ مسافر کو اس کا حق دے دو کہ یہ ان لوگوں کے حق میں خیر ہے جو رضائے الہٰی کے طلب گار ہیں اور وہی حقیقتًا نجات حاصل کرنے والے ہیں۔

And whatever you lay out as usury, so that it may increase in the property of men, it shall not increase with Allah; and whatever you give in charity, desiring Allah’s pleasure- it is these (persons) that shall get manifold.

اور تم لوگ جو بھی سود دیتے ہو کہ لوگوں کے مال میں اضافہ ہو جائے تو خدا کے یہاں کوئی اضافہ نہیں ہوتا ہے ہاں جو زکوٰۃ دیتے ہو اور اس میں رضائے خدا کا ارادہ ہوتا ہے تو ایسے لوگوں کو دگنا چوگنا دے دیا جاتا ہے۔

Allah is He Who created you, then gave you sustenance, then He causes you to die, then brings you to life. Is there any of your associate-gods who does aught of it? Glory be to Him, and exalted be He above what they associate (with Him).

اللہ ہی وہ ہے جس نے تم سب کو خلق کیا ہے پھر روزی دی ہے پھر موت دیتا ہے پھر زندہ کرتا ہے کیا تمہارے شرکاء میں کوئی ایسا ہے جو ان میں سے کوئی کام انجام دے سکے خدا ان تمام چیزوں سے جنہیں یہ سب شریک بنا رہے ہیں پاک و پاکیزہ اور بلند و برتر ہے۔

Corruption has appeared in the land and the sea on account of what the hands of men have wrought, that He may make them taste a part of that which they have done, so that they may return.

لوگوں کے ہاتھوں کی کمائی کی بنا پر فساد خشکی اور تری ہر جگہ غالب آگیا ہے تاکہ خدا ان کے کچھ اعمال کا مزہ چکھا دے تو شاید یہ لوگ پلٹ کر راستے پر آجائیں۔

Say: Travel in the land, then see how was the end of those before; most of them were polytheists.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ ذرا زمین میں سیر کر کے دیکھو کہ تم سے پہلے والوں کا کیا انجام ہوا ہے جن کی اکثریت مشرک تھی۔

Then turn thy face straight to the right religion before there come from Allah the day which cannot be averted; on that day they shall become separated.

اور آپ اپنے رخ کو مستقیم اور مستحکم دین کی طرف رکھیں قبل اس کے کہ وہ دن آجائے جس کی واپسی کا کوئی امکان نہیں ہے اور جس دن لوگ پریشان ہو کر الگ الگ ہو جائیں گے۔

Whoever disbelieves, he shall be responsible for his disbelief, and whoever does good, they prepare (good) for their own souls

جو کفر کرے گا وہ اپنے کفر کا ذمہ دار ہو گا اور جو لوگ نیک عمل کر رہے ہیں وہ اپنے لئے راہ ہموار کر رہے ہیں۔

That He may reward those who believe and do good out of His grace; surely He does not love the unbelievers.

تاکہ خدا ایمان اور نیک عمل کرنے والوں کو اپنے فضل سے جزا دے سکے کہ وہ کافروں کو دوست نہیں رکھتا ہے۔

And one of His signs is that He sends forth the winds bearing good news, and that He may make you taste of His mercy, and that the ships may run by His command, and that you may seek of His grace, and that you may be grateful.

اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے ایک یہ بھی ہے کہ وہ ہواؤں کو خوش خبری دینے والا بنا کر بھیجتا ہے اور اس لئے بھی کہ تمہیں اپنی رحمت کا مزہ چکھائے اور اس کے حکم سے کشتیاں چلیں اور تم اپنا رزق حاصل کر سکو اور شاید اس طرح شکر گزار بھی بن جاؤ۔

And certainly We sent before you apostles to their people, so they came to them with clear arguments, then We gave the punishment to those who were guilty; and helping the believers is ever incumbent on Us.

اور ہم نے تم سے پہلے بہت سے رسول ان کی قوموں کی طرف بھیجے ہیں جو ان کے پاس کھلی ہوئی نشانیاں لے کر آئے پھر ہم نے مجرمین سے انتقام لیا اور ہمارا فرض تھا کہ ہم صاحبانِ ایمان کی مدد کریں۔

Allah is He Who sends forth the winds so they raise a cloud, then He spreads it forth in the sky as He pleases, and He breaks it up so that you see the rain coming forth from inside it; then when He causes it to fall upon whom He pleases of His servants, lo! they are joyful

اللہ ہی وہ ہے جو ہواؤں کو چلاتا ہے تو وہ بادلوں کو اڑاتی ہیں پھر وہ ان بادلوں کو جس طرح چاہتا ہے آسمان میں پھیلا دیتا ہے اور اسے ٹکڑے کر دیتا ہے اور اس کے درمیان سے پانی برساتا ہے پھر یہ پانی ان بندوں تک پہنچ جاتا ہے جن تک وہ پہنچانا چاہتا ہے تو وہ خوش ہو جاتے ہیں۔

Though they were before this, before it was sent down upon them, confounded in sure despair.

اگرچہ وہ اس بارش کے نازل ہونے سے پہلے مایوسی کا شکار ہو گئے تھے۔

Look then at the signs of Allah’s mercy, how He gives life to the earth after its death, most surely He will raise the dead to life; and He has power over all things.

اب تم رحمتِ خدا کے ان آثار کو دیکھو کہ وہ کس طرح زمین کو مردہ ہو جانے کے بعد زندہ کر دیتا ہے بےشک وہی مردوں کو زندہ کرنے والا ہے اور وہی ہر شے پر قدرت رکھنے والا ہے۔

And if We send a wind and they see it to be yellow, they would after that certainly continue to disbelieve.

اور اگر ہم زہریلی ہوا چلا دیتے اور یہ ہر طرف موسم خزاں جیسی زردی دیکھ لیتے تو بالکل ہی کفر اختیار کر لیتے۔

For surely you cannot make the dead to hear and you cannot make the deaf to hear the call, when they turn back and flee.

تو آپ مردوں کو اپنی آواز نہیں سنا سکتے ہیں اور بہروں کو بھی نہیں سنا سکتے ہیں جب وہ منہ پھیر کر چل دیں۔

Nor can you lead away the blind out of their error. You cannot make to hear any but those who believe in Our communications so they shall submit.

اور آپ اندھوں کو بھی ان کی گمراہی سے ہدایت نہیں کر سکتے ہیں آپ تو صرف ان لوگوں کو سنا سکتے ہیں جو ہماری آیتوں پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور مسلمان ہیں۔

Allah is He Who created you from a state of weakness then He gave strength after weakness, then ordained weakness and hoary hair after strength; He creates what He pleases, and He is the Knowing, the Powerful.

اللہ ہی وہ ہے جس نے تم سب کو کمزوری سے پیدا کیا ہے اور پھر کمزوری کے بعد طاقت عطا کی ہے اور پھر طاقت کے بعد کمزوری اور ضعیفی قرار دی ہے وہ جو چاہتا ہے پیدا کر دیتا ہے کہ وہ صاحبِ علم بھی ہے اور صاحبِ قدرت بھی ہے۔

And at the time when the hour shall come, the guilty shall swear (that) they did not tarry but an hour; thus are they ever turned away.

اور جس دن قیامت قائم ہو گی اس دن مجرمین قسم کھا کر کہیں گے کہ وہ ایک ساعت سے زیادہ دنیا میں نہیں ٹھہرے ہیں در حقیقت یہ اسی طرح دنیا میں بھی افترا پردازیاں کیا کرتے تھے۔

And those who are given knowledge and faith will say: Certainly you tarried according to the ordinance of Allah till the day of resurrection, so this is the day of resurrection, but you did not know.

اور جن لوگوں کو علم اور ایمان دیا گیا ہے وہ کہیں گے کہ تم لوگ کتابِ خدا کے مطابق قیامت کے دن تک ٹھہرے رہے تو یہ قیامت کا دن ہے لیکن تم لوگ بے خبر بنے ہوئے ہو۔

But on that day their excuse shall not profit those who were unjust, nor shall they be regarded with goodwill.

پھر آج ظالموں کو نہ کوئی معذرت فائدہ پہنچائے گی اور نہ ان کی کوئی بات سنی جائے گی۔

And certainly We have set forth for men every kind of example in this Quran; and if you should bring them a communication, those who disbelieve would certainly say: You are naught but false claimants.

اور ہم نے اس قرآن میں ہر طرح کی مثال بیان کر دی ہے اور اگر آپ ساری نشانیاں لے کر بھی آجائیں تو کافر یہی کہیں گے کہ آپ لوگ صرف اہل باطل ہیں۔

Thus does Allah set a seal on the hearts of those who do not know.

بےشک اسی طرح خدا ان لوگوں کے دلوں پر مہر لگا دیتا ہے جو علم رکھنے والے نہیں ہیں۔

Therefore be patient; surely the promise of Allah is true and let not those who have no certainty hold you in light estimation.

لہٰذا آپ صبر سے کام لیں کہ خدا کا وعدہ برحق ہے اور خبردار جو لوگ یقین اس امر کا نہیں رکھتے ہیں وہ آپ کو ہلکا نہ بنا دیں۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Alif Lam Mim.

الم

These are verses of the Book of Wisdom

یہ حکمت سے بھری ہوئی کتاب کی آیتیں ہیں۔

A guidance and a mercy for the doers of goodness

جو ان نیک کردار لوگوں کے لئے ہدایت اور رحمت ہے۔

Those who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and they are certain of the hereafter.

جو نماز قائم کرتے ہیں اور زکوٰۃ ادا کرتے ہیں اور آخرت پر یقین رکھتے ہیں۔

These are on a guidance from their Lord, and these are they who are successful:

یہی لوگ اپنے پروردگار کی طرف سے ہدایت پر ہیں اور یہی فلاح پانے والے ہیں۔

And of men is he who takes instead frivolous discourse to lead astray from Allah’s path without knowledge, and to take it for a mockery; these shall have an abasing chastisement.

لوگوں میں ایسا شخص بھی ہے جو مہمل باتوں کو خریدتا ہے تاکہ ان کے ذریعہ بغیر سمجھے بوجھے لوگوں کو راہِ خدا سے گمراہ کرے اور آیاتِ الہٰیہ کا مذاق اڑائے در حقیقت ایسے ہی لوگوں کے لئے دردناک عذاب ہے۔

And when Our communications are recited to him, he turns back proudly, as if he had not heard them, as though in his ears were a heaviness, therefore announce to him a painful chastisement.

اور جب اس کے سامنے آیاتِ الہٰیہ کی تلاوت کی جاتی ہے تو اکڑ کر منہ پھیر لیتا ہے جیسے اس نے کچھ سنا ہی نہیں ہے اور جیسے اس کے کان میں بہرا پن ہے، ایسے شخص کو دردناک عذاب کی بشارت دے دیجئے۔

(As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have gardens of bliss

بےشک جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور انہوں نے نیک اعمال کئے ان کے لئے نعمتوں سے بھری ہوئی جنّت ہے۔

Abiding in them; the promise of Allah; (a) true (promise), and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

وہ اسی میں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں کہ یہ خدا کا برحق وعدہ ہے اور وہ صاحبِ عزّت بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی ہے۔

He created the heavens without pillars as you see them, and put mountains upon the earth lest it might convulse with you, and He spread in it animals of every kind; and We sent down water from the cloud, then caused to grow therein (vegetation) of every noble kind.

اسی نے آسمانوں کو بغیر ستون کے پیدا کیا ہے تم دیکھ رہے ہو اور زمین میں بڑے بڑے پہاڑ ڈال دیئے ہیں کہ تم کو لے کر جگہ سے ہٹنے نہ پائے اور ہر طرح کے جانور پھیلا دیئے ہیں اور ہم نے آسمان سے پانی برسایا ہے اور اس کے ذریعہ زمین میں ہر قسم کا نفیس جوڑا پیدا کر دیا ہے۔

This is Allah’s creation, but show Me what those besides Him have created. Nay, the unjust are in manifest error.

یہ خدا کی تخلیق ہے تو کافرو اب تم دکھلاؤ کہ اس کے علاوہ تمہارے خداؤں نے کیا پیدا کیا ہے اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ یہ ظالمین کھلی ہوئی گمراہی میں مبتلا ہیں۔

And certainly We gave wisdom to Luqman, saying: Be grateful to Allah. And whoever is grateful, he is only grateful for his own soul; and whoever is ungrateful, then surely Allah is Self-sufficient, Praised.

اور ہم نے لقمان کو حکمت عطا کی کہ پروردگار کا شکریہ ادا کرو اور جو بھی شکریہ ادا کرتا ہے وہ اپنے ہی فائدہ کے لئے کرتا ہے اور جو کفرانِ نعمت کرتا ہے اسے معلوم رہے کہ خدا بے نیاز بھی ہے اور قابل حمد و ثنا بھی ہے۔

And when Luqman said to his son while he admonished him: O my son! do not associate aught with Allah; most surely polytheism is a grievous iniquity-

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب لقمان نے اپنے فرزند کو نصیحت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ بیٹا خبردار کسی کو خدا کا شریک نہ بنانا کہ شرک بہت بڑا ظلم ہے۔

And We have enjoined man in respect of his parents- his mother bears him with faintings upon faintings and his weaning takes two years- saying: Be grateful to Me and to both your parents; to Me is the eventual coming.

اور ہم نے انسان کو ماں باپ کے بارے میں نصیحت کی ہے کہ اس کی ماں نے دکھ پر دکھ سہہ کر اسے پیٹ میں رکھا ہے اور اس کی دودھ بڑھائی بھی دو سال میں ہوئی ہے، کہ میرا اور اپنے ماں باپ کا شکریہ ادا کرو کہ تم سب کی بازگشت میری ہی طرف ہے۔

And if they contend with you that you should associate with Me what you have no knowledge of, do not obey them, and keep company with them in this world kindly, and follow the way of him who turns to Me, then to Me is your return, then will I inform you of what you did-

اور اگر تمہارے ماں باپ اس بات پر زور دیں کہ کسی ایسی چیز کو میرا شریک بناؤ جس کا تمہیں علم نہیں ہے تو خبردار ان کی اطاعت نہ کرنا لیکن دنیا میں ان کے ساتھ نیکی کا برتاؤ کرنا اور اس کے راستے کو اختیار کرنا جو میری طرف متوجہ ہو پھر اس کے بعد تم سب کی بازگشت میری ہی طرف ہے اور اس وقت میں بتاؤں گا کہ تم لوگ کیا کر رہے تھے۔

O my son! surely if it is the very weight of the grain of a mustard-seed, even though it is in (the heart of) rock, or (high above) in the heaven or (deep down) in the earth, Allah will bring it (to light); surely Allah is Knower of subtleties, Aware;

بیٹا نیکی یا بدی ایک رائی کے دانہ کے برابر ہو اور کسی پتھر کے اندر ہو یا آسمانوں پر ہو یا زمینوں کی گہرائیوں میں ہو تو خدا روزِ قیامت ضرور اسے سامنے لائے گا کہ وہ لطیف بھی ہے اور باخبر بھی ہے۔

O my son! keep up prayer and enjoin the good and forbid the evil, and bear patiently that which befalls you; surely these acts require courage;

بیٹا نماز قائم کرو، نیکیوں کا حکم دو، برائیوں سے منع کرو اور اس راہ میں جو مصیبت پڑے اس پر صبر کرو کہ یہ بہت بڑی ہمت کا کام ہے۔

And do not turn your face away from people in contempt, nor go about in the land exulting overmuch; surely Allah does not love any self-conceited boaster;

اور خبردار لوگوں کے سامنے اکڑ کر منہ نہ پُھلا لینا اور زمین میں غرور کے ساتھ نہ چلنا کہ خدا اکڑنے والے اور مغرور کو پسند نہیں کرتا ہے۔

And pursue the right course in your going about and lower your voice; surely the most hateful of voices is braying of the asses.

اور اپنی رفتار میں میانہ روی سے کام لینا اور اپنی آواز کو دھیما رکھنا کہ سب سے بدتر آواز گدھے کی آواز ہوتی ہے (جو بلاسبب بھونڈے انداز سے چیختا رہتا ہے)۔

Do you not see that Allah has made what is in the heavens and what is in the earth subservient to you, and made complete to you His favors outwardly and inwardly? And among men is he who disputes in respect of Allah though having no knowledge nor guidance, nor a book giving light.

کیا تم لوگوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ اللہ نے زمین و آسمان کی تمام چیزوں کو تمہارے لئے مسخّر کر دیا ہے اور تمہارے لئے تمام ظاہری اور باطنی نعمتوں کو مکمل کر دیا ہے اور لوگوں میں بعض ایسے بھی ہیں جو علم و ہدایت اور روشن کتاب کے بغیر بھی خدا کے بارے میں بحث کرتے ہیں۔

And when it is said to them: Follow what Allah has revealed, they say: Nay, we follow that on which we found our fathers. What! though the Shaitan calls them to the chastisement of the burning fire!

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ جو کچھ اللہ نے نازل کیا ہے اس کا اتباع کرو تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم اس کا اتباع کرتے ہیں جس پر اپنے باپ دادا کو عمل کرتے دیکھا ہے چاہے شیطان ان کو عذابِ جہنّم کی طرف دعوت دے رہا ہو۔

And whoever submits himself wholly to Allah and he is the doer of good (to others), he indeed has taken hold of the firmest thing upon which one can lay hold; and Allah’s is the end of affairs.

اور جو اپنا روئے حیات خدا کی طرف موڑ دے اور وہ نیک کردار بھی ہو تو اس نے ریسمان ہدایت کو مضبوطی سے پکڑ لیا ہے اور تمام امور کا انجام اللہ کی طرف ہے۔

And whoever disbelieves, let not his disbelief grieve you; to Us is their return, then will We inform them of what they did; surely Allah is the Knower of what is in the breasts.

اور جو کفر اختیار کرلے اس کے کفر سے تم کو رنجیدہ نہیں ہونا چاہئے کہ سب کی بازگشت ہماری ہی طرف ہے اور اس وقت ہم بتائیں گے کہ انہوں نے کیا کیا ہے بےشک اللہ دلوں کے رازوں کو بھی جانتا ہے۔

We give them to enjoy a little, then will We drive them to a severe chastisement.

ہم انہیں تھوڑے دن تک آرام دیں گے اور پھر سخت ترین عذاب کی طرف کھینچ کر لے آئیں گے۔

And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will certainly say: Allah. Say: (All) praise is due to Allah; nay! most of them do not know.

اور اگر آپ ان سے سوال کریں کہ زمین و آسمان کا خالق کون ہے تو کہیں گے کہ اللہ تو پھر کہئے کہ ساری حمد اللہ کے لئے ہے اور ان کی اکثریت بالکل جاہل ہے۔

What is in the heavens and the earth is Allah’s; surely Allah is the Self-sufficient, the Praised.

اللہ ہی کے لئے زمین و آسمان کی تمام چیزیں ہیں اور وہی بے نیاز بھی ہے اور قابل ستائش بھی۔

And were every tree that is in the earth (made into) pens and the sea (to supply it with ink), with seven more seas to increase it, the words of Allah would not come to an end; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise.

اور اگر روئے زمین کے تمام درخت قلم بن جائیں اور سمندر کا سہارا دینے کے لئے سات سمندر اور آ جائیں تو بھی کلماتِ الہٰی تمام ہونے والے نہیں ہیں بےشک اللہ صاحبِ عزّت بھی ہے اور صاحب حکمت بھی ہے۔

Neither your creation nor your raising is anything but as a single soul; surely Allah is Hearing, Seeing.

تم سب کی خلقت اور تم سب کا دوبارہ زندہ کرنا سب ایک ہی آدمی جیسا ہے اور اللہ یقینًا سب کچھ سننے والا اور دیکھنے والا ہے۔

Do you not see that Allah makes the night to enter into the day, and He makes the day to enter into the night, and He has made the sun and the moon subservient (to you); each pursues its course till an appointed time; and that Allah is Aware of what you do?

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ خدا ہی رات کو دن میں اور دن کو رات میں داخل کرتا ہے اور اس نے چاند اور سورج کو مُسخّر کردیا ہے کہ سب ایک معیّن مدّت تک چلتے رہیں گے اور اللہ تمہارے تمام اعمال سے باخبر ہے۔

This is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon besides Him is the falsehood, and that Allah is the High, the Great.

یہ سب اسی لئے ہے کہ خدا معبود برحق ہے اور اس کے علاوہ جس کو بھی یہ لوگ پکارتے ہیں وہ سب باطل ہیں اور اللہ بلند و بالا اور بزرگ و برتر ہے۔

Do you not see that the ships run on in the sea by Allah’s favor that He may show you of His signs? Most surely there are signs in this for every patient endurer, grateful one.

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ نعمت خدا ہی سے کشتیاں دریا میں چل رہی ہیں تاکہ وہ تمہیں اپنی نشانیاں دکھلائے کہ اس میں تمام صبر و شکر کرنے والوں کے لئے بڑی نشانیاں پائی جاتی ہیں۔

And when a wave like mountains covers them they call upon Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, but when He brings them safe to the land, some of them follow the middle course; and none denies Our signs but every perfidious, ungrateful one.

اور جب سائبانوں کی طرح کوئی موج انہیں ڈھانکنے لگتی ہے تو دین کے پورے اخلاص کے ساتھ خدا کو آواز دیتے ہیں اور جب وہ نجات دے کر خشکی تک پہنچا دیتا ہے تو اس میں سے کچھ ہی اعتدال پر رہ جاتے ہیں اور ہماری آیات کا انکار غدار اور ناشکرے افراد کے علاوہ کوئی نہیں کرتا ہے۔

O people! guard against (the punishment of) your Lord and dread the day when a father shall not make any satisfaction for his son, nor shall the child be the maker of any satisfaction for his father; surely the promise of Allah is true, therefore let not this world’s life deceive you, nor let the arch-deceiver deceive you in respect of Allah.

انسانو! اپنے پروردگار سے ڈرو اور اس دن سے ڈرو جس دن نہ باپ بیٹے کے کام آئے گا اور نہ بیٹا باپ کے کچھ کام آسکے گا بےشک اللہ کا وعدہ برحق ہے لہٰذا تمہیں زندگانی دنیا دھوکہ میں نہ ڈال دے اور خبردار کوئی دھوکہ دینے والا بھی تمہیں دھوکہ نہ دے سکے۔

Surely Allah is He with Whom is the knowledge of the hour, and He sends down the rain and He knows what is in the wombs; and no one knows what he shall earn on the morrow; and no one knows in what land he shall die; surely Allah is Knowing, Aware.

یقینًا اللہ ہی کے پاس قیامت کا علم ہے اور وہی پانی برساتا ہے اور شکم کے اندر کا حال جانتا ہے اور کوئی نفس یہ نہیں جانتا ہے کہ وہ کل کیا کمائے گا اور کسی کو نہیں معلوم ہے کہ اسے کس زمین پر موت آئے گی بےشک اللہ جاننے والا اور باخبر ہے۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Alif Lam Mim.

الم

The revelation of the Book, there is no doubt in it, is from the Lord of the worlds.

بےشک اس کتاب کی تنزیل عالمین کے پروردگار کی طرف سے ہے۔

Or do they say: He has forged it? Nay! it is the truth from your Lord that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you, that they may follow the right direction.

کیا ان لوگوں کا کہنا یہ ہے کہ یہ رسول کا افتراء ہے، ہرگز نہیں یہ آپ کے پروردگار کی طرف سے برحق ہے تاکہ آپ اس قوم کو ڈرائیں جس کی طرف آپ سے پہلے کوئی ڈرانے والا رسول نہیں آیا ہے کہ شاید یہ ہدایت یافتہ ہو جائیں۔

Allah is He Who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six periods, and He mounted the throne (of authority); you have not besides Him any guardian or any intercessor, will you not then mind?

اللہ ہی وہ ہے جس نے آسمان و زمین اور اس کی تمام درمیانی مخلوقات کو چھ دن کے اندر پیدا کیا ہے اور اس کے بعد عرش پر اپنا اقتدار قائم کیا ہے اور تمہارے لئے اس کو چھوڑ کر کوئی سرپرست یا سفارش کرنے والا نہیں ہے کیا تمہاری سمجھ میں یہ بات نہیں آرہی ہے۔

He regulates the affair from the heaven to the earth; then shall it ascend to Him in a day the measure of which is a thousand years of what you count.

وہ خدا آسمان سے زمین تک کے اُمور کی تدبیر کرتا ہے پھر یہ امر اس کی بارگاہ میں اس دن پیش ہو گا جس کی مقدار تمہارے حساب کے مطابق ہزار سال کے برابر ہو گی۔

This is the Knower of the unseen and the seen, the Mighty, the Merciful

وہ خدا حاضر و غائب سب کا جاننے والا اور صاحبِ عزّت و مہربان ہے۔

Who made good everything that He has created, and He began the creation of man from dust.

اس نے ہر چیز کو حُسن کے ساتھ بنایا ہے اور انسان کی خلقت کا آغاز مٹی سے کیا ہے۔

Then He made his progeny of an extract of water held in light estimation.

اس کے بعد اس کی نسل کو ایک ذلیل پانی سے قرار دیا ہے۔

Then He made him complete and breathed into him of His spirit, and made for you the ears and the eyes and the hearts; little is it that you give thanks.

اس کے بعد اسے برابر کر کے اس میں اپنی روح پھونک دی ہے اور تمہارے لئے کان، آنکھ اور دل بنا دیئے ہیں مگر تم بہت کم شکریہ ادا کرتے ہو۔

And they say: What! when we have become lost in the earth, shall we then certainly be in a new creation? Nay! they are disbelievers in the meeting of their Lord.

اور یہ کہتے ہیں کہ اگر ہم زمین میں گم ہو گئے تو کیا نئی خلقت میں پھر ظاہر کئے جائیں گے، بات یہ ہے کہ یہ اپنے پروردگار کی ملاقات کے منکر ہیں۔

Say: The angel of death who is given charge of you shall cause you to die, then to your Lord you shall be brought back.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تم کو وہ ملک الموت زندگی کی آخری منزل تک پہنچائے گا جو تم پر تعینات کیا گیا ہے اس کے بعد تم سب پروردگار کی بارگاہ میں پیش کئے جاؤ گے۔

And could you but see when the guilty shall hang down their heads before their Lord: Our Lord! we have seen and we have heard, therefore send us back, we will do good; surely (now) we are certain.

اور کاش آپ دیکھتے جب مجرمین پروردگار کی بارگاہ میں سر جھکائے کھڑے ہوں گے۔ پروردگار ہم نے سب دیکھ لیا اور سن لیا اب ہمیں دوبارہ واپس کر دے کہ ہم نیک عمل کریں بےشک ہم یقین کرنے والوں میں ہیں۔

And if We had pleased We would certainly have given to every soul its guidance, but the word (which had gone forth) from Me was just: I will certainly fill hell with the jinn and men together.

اور ہم چاہتے تو جبرًا ہر نفس کو اس کی ہدایت دے دیتے لیکن ہماری طرف سے یہ بات طے ہو چکی ہے کہ ہم جہنّم کو جنّات اور تمام گمراہ انسانوں سے بھر دیں گے۔

So taste, because you neglected the meeting of this day of yours; surely We forsake you; and taste the abiding chastisement for what you did.

لہذا تم لوگ اس بات کا مزہ چکھو کہ تم نے آج کے دن کی ملاقات کو بھلا دیا تھا تو ہم نے بھی تم کو نظر انداز کر دیا ہے اب اپنے گزشتہ اعمال کے بدلے دائمی عذاب کا مزہ چکھو۔

Only they believe in Our communications who, when they are reminded of them, fall down making obeisance and celebrate the praise of their Lord, and they are not proud.

ہماری آیتوں پر ایمان لانے والے افراد بس وہ ہیں جنہیں آیات کی یاد دلائی جاتی ہے تو سجدہ میں گر پڑتے ہیں اور اپنے رب کی حمد و ثنا کی تسبیح کرتے ہیں اور تکبر نہیں کرتے ہیں۔

Their sides draw away from (their) beds, they call upon their Lord in fear and in hope, and they spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them.

ان کے پہلو بستر سے الگ رہتے ہیں اور وہ اپنے پروردگار کو خوف اور طمع کی بنیاد پر پکارتے رہتے ہیں اور ہمارے دیئے ہوئے رزق سے ہماری راہ میں انفاق کرتے رہتے ہیں۔

So no soul knows what is hidden for them of that which will refresh the eyes; a reward for what they did.

پس کسی نفس کو نہیں معلوم ہے کہ اس کے لئے کیا کیا خنکی چشم کا سامان چھپا کر رکھا گیا ہے جو ان کے اعمال کی جزا ہے۔

Is he then who is a believer like him who is a transgressor? They are not equal.

کیا وہ شخص جو صاحبِ ایمان ہے اس کے مثل ہو جائے گا جو فاسق ہے ہرگز نہیں دونوں برابر نہیں ہو سکتے۔

As for those who believe and do good, the gardens are their abiding-place; an entertainment for what they did.

جو لوگ ایمان لائے ہیں اور انہوں نے نیک اعمال کئے ہیں ان کے لئے آرام کرنے کی جنتیں ہیں جو ان کے اعمال کی جزا ہیں۔

And as for those who transgress, their abode is the fire; whenever they desire to go forth from it they shall be brought back into it, and it will be said to them: Taste the chastisement of the fire which you called a lie.

اور جن لوگوں نے فسق اختیار کیا ہے ان کا ٹھکانا جہّنم ہے کہ جب اس سے نکلنے کا ارادہ کریں گے تو دوبارہ پلٹا دیئے جائیں گے اور کہا جائے گا کہ اس جہنّم کی آگ کا مزہ چکھو جس کا تم انکار کیا کرتے تھے۔

And most certainly We will make them taste of the nearer chastisement before the greater chastisement that haply they may turn.

اور ہم یقینًا بڑے عذاب سے پہلے انہیں معمولی عذاب کا مزہ چکھائیں گے کہ شاید اسی طرح راہِ راست پر پلٹ آئیں۔

And who is more unjust than he who is reminded of the communications of his Lord, then he turns away from them? Surely We will give punishment to the guilty.

اور اس سے بڑا ظالم کون ہے جسے آیاتِ الہٰیہ کی یاد دلائی جائے اور پھر اس سے اعراض کرے تو ہم یقینًا مجرمین سے انتقام لینے والے ہیں۔

And certainly We gave the Book to Musa, so be not in doubt concerning the receiving of it, and We made it a guide for the children of Israel.

اور ہم نے موسٰیؑ کو بھی کتاب عطا کی ہے لہذا آپ کو اپنے قرآن کے منجانب اللہ ہونے میں شک نہیں ہونا چاہئے اور ہم نے کتابِ موسٰیؑ کو بنی اسرائیل کے لئے ہدایت قرار دیا ہے۔

And We made of them Imams to guide by Our command when they were patient, and they were certain of Our communications.

اور ہم نے ان میں سے کچھ لوگوں کو امام اور پیشوا قرار دیا ہے جو ہمارے امر سے لوگوں کی ہدایت کرتے ہیں اس لئے کہ انہوں نے صبر کیا ہے اور ہماری آیتوں پر یقین رکھتے تھے۔

Surely your Lord will judge between them on the day of resurrection concerning that wherein they differ.

بےشک آپ کا پروردگار ان کے درمیان روزِ قیامت ان تمام باتوں کا فیصلہ کر دے گا جن میں یہ آپس میں اختلاف رکھتے تھے۔

Does it not point out to them the right way, how many of the generations, in whose abodes they go about, did We destroy before them? Most surely there are signs in this; will they not then hear?

تو کیا ان کی ہدایت کے لئے یہ کافی نہیں ہے کہ ہم نے ان سے پہلے بہت سی قوموں کو ہلاک کر دیا ہے جن کی بستیوں میں یہ چل پھر رہے ہیں اور اس میں ہماری بہت سی نشانیاں ہیں تو کیا یہ سنتے نہیں ہیں۔

Do they not see that We drive the water to a land having no herbage, then We bring forth thereby seed-produce of which their cattle and they themselves eat; will they not then see?

کیا ان لوگوں نے یہ نہیں دیکھا ہے کہ ہم پانی کو چٹیل میدان کی طرف بہالے جاتے ہیں اور اس کے ذریعہ زراعت پیدا کرتے ہیں جسے یہ خود بھی کھاتے ہیں اور ان کے جانور بھی کھاتے ہیں تو کیا یہ دیکھتے نہیں ہیں۔

And they say: When will this judgment take place, if you are truthful?

اور یہ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ آخر وہ فتح کا دن کب آئے گا اگر آپ لوگ سچےّ ہیں۔

Say: On the day of judgment the faith of those who (now) disbelieve will not profit them, nor will they be respited.

تو کہہ دیجئے کہ فتح کے دن پھر کفر اختیار کرنے والوں کا ایمان کام نہیں آئے گا اور نہ انہیں مہلت ہی دی جائے گی۔

Therefore turn away from them and wait, surely they too are waiting.

لہذا آپ ان سے کنارہ کش رہیں اور وقت کا انتظار کریں کہ یہ بھی انتظار کرنے والے ہیں۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

O Prophet! be careful of (your duty to) Allah and do not comply with (the wishes of) the unbelievers and the hypocrites; surely Allah is Knowing, Wise;

اے پیغمبر خدا سے ڈرتے رہئیے اور خبردار کافروں اور منافقوں کی اطاعت نہ کیجئے گا یقینًا اللہ ہر شے کا جاننے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

And follow what is revealed to you from your Lord; surely Allah is Aware of what you do;

اور جو کچھ آپ کے پروردگار کی طرف سے وحی کی جاتی ہے اسی کا اتباع کرتے رہیں کہ اللہ تم لوگوں کے اعمال سے خوب باخبر ہے۔

And rely on Allah; and Allah is sufficient for a Protector.

اور اپنے خدا پر اعتماد کیجئے کہ وہ نگرانی کے لئے بہت کافی ہے۔

Allah has not made for any man two hearts within him; nor has He made your wives whose backs you liken to the backs of your mothers as your mothers, nor has He made those whom you assert to be your sons your real sons; these are the words of your mouths; and Allah speaks the truth and He guides to the way.

اور اللہ نے کسی مرد کے سینے میں دو دل نہیں قرار دیئے ہیں اور تمہاری وہ بیویاں جن سے تم اظہار کرتے ہو انہیں تمہاری واقعی ماں نہیں قرار دیا ہے اور نہ تمہاری منہ بولی اولاد کو اولاد قرار دیا ہے یہ سب تمہاری زبانی باتیں ہیں اور اللہ تو صرف حق کی بات کہتا ہے اور سیدھے راستے کی طرف ہدایت کرتا ہے۔

Assert their relationship to their fathers; this is more equitable with Allah; but if you do not know their fathers, then they are your brethren in faith and your friends; and there is no blame on you concerning that in which you made a mistake, but (concerning) that which your hearts do purposely (blame may rest on you), and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

ان بچوں کو ان کے باپ کے نام سے پکارو کہ یہی خدا کی نظر میں انصاف سے قریب تر ہے اور اگر ان کے باپ کو نہیں جانتے ہو تو یہ دین میں تمہارے بھائی اور دوست ہیں اور تمہارے لئے اس بات میں کوئی حرج نہیں ہے جو تم سے غلطی ہو گئی ہے البتہ تم اس بات کے ضرور ذمہ دار ہو جو تمہارے دلوں سے قصدًا انجام دی ہے اور اللہ بہت بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

The Prophet has a greater claim on the faithful than they have on themselves, and his wives are (as) their mothers; and the possessors of relationship have the better claim in the ordinance of Allah to inheritance, one with respect to another, than (other) believers, and (than) those who have fled (their homes), except that you do some good to your friends; this is written in the Book.

بےشک نبی تمام مومنین سے ان کے نفس کے بہ نسبت زیادہ اولیٰ ہے اور ان کی بیویاں ان سب کی مائیں ہیں اور مومنین و مہاجرین میں سے قرابتدار ایک دوسرے سے زیادہ اولویت اور قربت رکھتے ہیں مگر یہ کہ تم اپنے دوستوں کے ساتھ نیک برتاؤ کرنا چاہو تو کوئی بات نہیں ہے یہ بات کتابِ خدا میں لکھی ہوئی موجود ہے۔

And when We made a covenant with the prophets and with you, and with Nuh and Ibrahim and Musa and Isa, son of Marium, and We made with them a strong covenant

اور اس وقت کو یاد کیجئے جب ہم نے تمام انبیاءؑ سے اور بالخصوص آپ سے اور نوحؑ، ابراہیمؑ، موسیٰؑ اور عیسٰی بن مریمؑ سے عہد لیا اور سب سے بہت سخت قسم کا عہد لیا۔

That He may question the truthful of their truth, and He has prepared for the unbelievers a painful punishment.

تاکہ صادقین سے ان کی صداقتِ تبلیغ کے بارے میں سوال کیا جائے اور خدا نے کافروں کے لئے بڑا درد ناک عذاب مہیّا کر رکھا ہے۔

O you who believe! call to mind the favor of Allah to you when there came down upon you hosts, so We sent against them a strong wind and hosts, that you saw not, and Allah is seeing what you do.

ایمان والو! اس وقت اللہ کی نعمت کو یاد کرو جب کفر کے لشکر تمہارے سامنے آگئے اور ہم نے ان کے خلاف تمہاری مدد کے لئے تیز ہوا اور ایسے لشکر بھیج دیئے جن کو تم نے دیکھا بھی نہیں تھا اور اللہ تمہارے اعمال کو خوب دیکھنے والا ہے۔

When they came upon you from above you and from below you, and when the eyes turned dull, and the hearts rose up to the throats, and you began to think diverse thoughts of Allah.

اس وقت جب کفار تمہارے اوپر کی طرف سے اور نیچے کی سمت سے آگئے اور دہشت سے نگاہیں خیرہ کرنے لگیں اور کلیجے منہ کو آنے لگے اور تم خدا کے بارے میں طرح طرح کے خیالات میں مبتلا ہو گئے۔

There the believers were tried and they were shaken with severe shaking.

اس وقت مومنین کا باقاعدہ امتحان لیا گیا اور انہیں شدید قسم کے جھٹکے دیئے گئے۔

And when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was a disease began to say: Allah and His Apostle did not promise us (victory) but only to deceive.

اور جب منافقین اور جن کے دلوں میں مرض تھا یہ کہہ رہے تھے کہ خدا و رسول نے ہم سے صرف دھوکہ دینے والا وعدہ کیا ہے۔

And when a party of them said: O people of Medina! there is no place to stand for you (here), therefore go back; and a party of them asked permission of the prophet, saying. Surely our houses are exposed; and they were not exposed; they only desired to fly away.

اور جب ان کے ایک گروہ نے کہہ دیا کہ مدینہ والو اب یہاں ٹھکانا نہیں ہے لہذا واپس بھاگ چلو اور ان میں سے ایک گروہ نبی سے اجازت مانگ رہا تھا کہ ہمارے گھر خالی پڑے ہوئے ہیں حالانکہ وہ گھر خالی نہیں تھے بلکہ یہ لوگ صرف بھاگنے کا ارادہ کر رہے تھے۔

And if an entry were made upon them from the outlying parts of it, then they were asked to wage war, they would certainly have done it, and they would not have stayed in it but a little while.

حالانکہ اگر ان پر چاروں طرف سے لشکر داخل کر دیئے جاتے اور پھر ان سے فتنہ کا سوال کیا جاتا تو فورًا حاضر ہو جاتے اور تھوڑی دیر سے زیادہ نہ ٹھہرتے۔

And certainly they had made a covenant with Allah before, (that) they would not turn (their) backs; and Allah’s covenant shall be inquired of.

اور ان لوگوں نے اللہ سے یقینی عہد کیا تھا کہ ہرگز پیٹھ نہ پھرائیں گے اور اللہ کے عہد کے بارے میں بہرحال سوال کیا جائے گا۔

Say: Flight shall not do you any good if you fly from death or slaughter, and in that case you will not be allowed to enjoy yourselves but a little.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر تم قتل یا موت کے خوف سے بھاگنا بھی چاہو تو فرار کام آنے والا نہیں ہے اور دنیا میں تھوڑا ہی آرام کر سکو گے۔

Say: Who is it that can withhold you from Allah if He intends to do you evil, rather He intends to show you mercy? And they will not find for themselves besides Allah any guardian or a helper.

کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر خدا برائی کا ارادہ کرلے یا بھلائی ہی کرنا چاہے تو تمہیں اس سے کون بچاسکتا ہے اور یہ لوگ اس کے علاوہ نہ کوئی سرپرست پا سکتے ہیں اور نہ مدد گار۔

Allah knows indeed those among you who hinder others and those who say to their brethren: Come to us; and they come not to the fight but a little

خدا ان لوگوں کو بھی خوب جانتا ہے جو جنگ سے روکنے والے ہیں اور اپنے بھائیوں سے یہ کہنے والے ہیں کہ ہماری طرف آجاؤ اور یہ خود میدانِ جنگ میں بہت کم آتے ہیں۔

Being niggardly with respect to you; but when fear comes, you will see them looking to you, their eyes rolling like one swooning because of death; but when the fear is gone they smite you with sharp tongues, being niggardly of the good things. These have not believed, therefore Allah has made their doing naught; and this is easy to Allah.

یہ تم سے جان چراتے ہیں اور جب خوف سامنے آجائے گا تو آپ دیکھیں گے کہ آپ کی طرف اس طرح دیکھیں گے کہ جیسے ان کی آنکھیں یوں پھر رہی ہیں جیسے موت کی غشی طاری ہو اور جب خوف چلا جائے گا تو آپ پر تیز تر زبانوں کے ساتھ حملہ کریں گے اور انہیں مالِ غنیمت کی حرص ہو گی یہ لوگ شروع ہی سے ایمان نہیں لائے ہیں لہٰذا خدا نے ان کے اعمال کو برباد کر دیا ہے اور خدا کے لئے یہ کام بڑا آسان ہے۔

They think the allies are not gone, and if the allies should come (again) they would fain be in the deserts with the desert Arabs asking for news about you, and if they were among you they would not fight save a little.

یہ لوگ ابھی تک اس خیال میں ہیں کہ کفار کے لشکر گئے نہیں ہیں اور اگر دوبارہ لشکر آجائیں تو یہ یہی چاہیں گے کہ اے کاش دیہاتیوں کے ساتھ صحراؤں میں آباد ہو گئے ہوتے اور وہاں سے تمہاری خبریں دریافت کرتے رہتے اور اگر تمہارے ساتھ رہتے بھی تو بہت کم ہی جہاد کرتے۔

Certainly you have in the Apostle of Allah an excellent exemplar for him who hopes in Allah and the latter day and remembers Allah much.

مسلمانو! تم میں سے اس کے لئے رسول کی زندگی میں بہترین نمونہ عمل ہے جو شخص بھی اللہ اور آخرت سے امیدیں وابستہ کئے ہوئے ہے اور اللہ کو بہت زیادہ یاد کرتا ہے۔

And when the believers saw the allies, they said: This is what Allah and His Apostle promised us, and Allah and His Apostle spoke the truth; and it only increased them in faith and submission.

اور صاحبانِ ایمان کا یہ عالم ہے کہ جب انہوں نے کفر کے لشکروں کو دیکھا تو پکار اٹھے کہ یہ وہی بات ہے جس کا خدا اور رسول نے وعدہ کیا تھا اور خدا و رسول کا وعدہ بالکل سچا ہے اور اس ہجوم نے ان کے ایمان اور جذبہ تسلیم میں مزید اضافہ ہی کر دیا۔

Of the believers are men who are true to the covenant which they made with Allah: so of them is he who accomplished his vow, and of them is he who yet waits, and they have not changed in the least;

مومنین میں ایسے بھی مردِ میدان ہیں جنہوں نے اللہ سے کئے وعدہ کو سچ کر دکھایا ہے ان میں بعض اپنا وقت پورا کر چکے ہیں اور بعض اپنے وقت کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں اور ان لوگوں نے اپنی بات میں کوئی تبدیلی نہیں پیدا کی ہے۔

That Allah may reward the truthful for their truth, and punish the hypocrites if He please or turn to them (mercifully); surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

تاکہ خدا صادقین کو ان کی صداقت کا بدلہ دے اور منافقین کو چاہے تو ان پر عذاب نازل کرے یا ان کی توبہ قبول کر لے کہ اللہ یقینًا بہت بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

And Allah turned back the unbelievers in their rage; they did not obtain any advantage, and Allah sufficed the believers in fighting; and Allah is Strong, Mighty.

اور خدا نے کفّار کو ان کے غصّہ سمیت واپس کر دیا کہ وہ کوئی فائدہ حاصل نہ کر سکے اور اللہ نے مومنین کو جنگ سے بچا لیا اور اللہ بڑی قوت والا اور صاحبِ عزّت ہے۔

And He drove down those of the followers of the Book who backed them from their fortresses and He cast awe into their hearts; some you killed and you took captive another part.

اور اس نے کفار کی پشت پناہی کرنے والے اہل کتاب کو ان کے قلعوں سے نیچے اتار دیا اور ان کے دلوں میں ایسا رعب ڈال دیا کہ تم ان میں سے کچھ کو قتل کر رہے تھے اور کچھ کو قیدی بنا رہے تھے۔

And He made you heirs to their land and their dwellings and their property, and (to) a land which you have not yet trodden, and Allah has power over all things.

اور پھر تمہیں ان کی زمین، ان کے دیار اور ان کے اموال اور زمینوں کا بھی وارث بنا دیا جن میں تم نے قدم بھی نہیں رکھا تھا اور بےشک اللہ ہر شے پر قادر ہے۔

O Prophet! say to your wives: If you desire this world’s life and its adornment, then come, I will give you a provision and allow you to depart a goodly departing;

پیغمبر آپ اپنی بیویوں سے کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر تم لوگ زندگانی دنیا اور اس کی زینت کی طلبگار ہو تو آؤ میں تمہیں متاعِ دنیا دے کر خوبصورتی کے ساتھ رخصت کر دوں۔

And if you desire Allah and His Apostle and the latter abode, then surely Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a mighty reward.

اور اگر اللہ اور رسول اور آخرت کی طلب گار ہو تو خدا نے تم میں سے نیک کردار عورتوں کے لئے بہت بڑا اجر فراہم کر رکھا ہے۔

O wives of the prophet! whoever of you commits an open indecency, the punishment shall be increased to her doubly; and this is easy to Allah.

اے زنانِ پیغمبر جو بھی تم میں سے کھلی ہوئی برائی کا ارتکاب کرے گی اس کا عذاب بھی دہرا کر دیا جائے گا اور یہ بات خدا کے لئے بہت آسان ہے۔

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
