Before reaching grave
قبر پر پہنچنے سے پہلے
What is said on approaching the graveside, before arriving at it.
It is salawat before it is anything else. Blessings are asked upon the Holy Prophet (s) — named as the trustee of Allah's revelation, the seal of the previous messages and the luminous torch — then upon Muhammad and his Household, then upon Amir al-Mu'minin (a), then upon the Imams from his offspring as the keepers of Allah's secret and witnesses over His creation.
Only after that does it turn to salam: upon Ali (a), upon Sayyida Fatima (s) as the leader of the women of the worlds, upon Hasan and Husain (a) as the chiefs of the youth of Paradise, upon the prophets and messengers, upon the angels, and finally upon the righteous servants of Allah — which is where the visitor and the buried are named together.
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَلسَّلَامُ مِنَ اللہِ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُوْلِ اللہِ اَمِیْنِ اللہِ عَلٰی وَحْیِهٖ وَرِسَالَاتِهٖ وَعَزَآئِمِ اَمْرِهٖ وَمَعْدِ الْوَحْیِ وَ التَّنْزِیْلِ الْخَاتِمِ لِمَا سَبَقَ وَالْفَاتِحِ لِمَا اسْتُقْبِلَ وَالْمُهَیْمِنِ عَلٰی ذٰلِكَ كُلِّهِ الشَّاهِدِ عَلَی الْخَلْقِ السِّرَاجِ الْمُنِیْرِ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَیْهِ وَرَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ۔ اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاَهْلِ بَیْتِهِ الْمَظْلُوْمِیْنَ اَفْضَلَ وَاَكْمَلَ وَاَرْفَعَ وَاَشْرَفَ مَا صَلَّیْتَ عَلٰی اَحَدٍ مِّنْ اَنْبِیَآئِكَ وَرُسُلِكَ وَاَصْفِیَآئِكَ۔ اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی اَمِیْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ عَبْدِكَ وَخَیْرِ خَلْقِكَ بَعْدَ نَبِیِّكَ وَاَخِیْ رَسُوْلِكَ وَوَصِیِّ حَبِیْبِكَ الَّذِیْ انْتَجَبْتَهٗ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ وَالدَّلِیْلِ عَلٰی مَنْۢ بَعَثْتَهٗ بِرِسَالَاتِكَ وَدَیَّانِ الدِّیْنِ بِعَدْلِكَ وَفَصْلِ قَضَآئِكَ بَیْنَ خَلْقِكَ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَیْهِ وَرَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ۔ اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی الْاَئِمَّۃِ مِنْ وُلْدِهِ الْقَوَّامِیْنَ بِاَمْرِكَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهِ الْمُطَهَّرِیْنَ الَّذِیْنَ ارْتَضَیْتَهُمْ اَنْصَارًا لِدِیْنِكَ وَحَفَظَۃً لِسِرِّكَ وَشُهَدَآءَ عَلٰی خَلْقِكَ وَاَعْلَامًا لِعِبَادِكَ صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَیْهِمْ اَجْمَعِیْنَ۔
As-salaamo menal laahe a'laa mohammadin rasoolil laahe ameenil laahe a'laa wahye-hi wa resaalaate-hi wa a'zaaa-e-me amre-hi wa ma'denil wahye wa wat tanzee-lil khaate-me lemaa sabaqa wal faate-he lemas-tuqbela wal mo-haiy-mene a'laa zaale-ka kulle-hish shaahede a'lal khalqis seraajil moneere was-salaamo a'lay-he wa rahma-tul laahe wa bara-kaato-hu.
Allaahumma salle a'laa mohammadin wa ahle bayte-hil mazloo-meena afzala wa akmala wa arfa-a' wa ashrafa maa sallayta a'laa aha-din min ambeyaaa-e-ka wa be-rosole-ka wa asfeyaaa-e-ka.
Allaahumma salle a'laa ameeril momineena ab'deka wa khayre khalqe-ka ba'da nabiyye-ka wa akhee rasoole-ka wa wasiyye habeebe-kal lazin-tajabta-hu min khalqe-ka wad-daleele a'laa man ba-a's-tahu be-resaa-laate-ka wa dayyaa-nid deene be-a'dle-ka wa fasle qazaaa-e-ka bayna khalqe-ka was-salaamo a'laihe wa rahmatul laahe wa bara-kaato-hu.
Allaahumma salle a'lal a-immate min wulde-hil qawwaa-meena be-amreka min ba'de-hil motah-haree-nal lazee-nar tazaiyta-hum ansaa-ran le-deene-ka wa hafa-zatan le sirre-ka wa shohadaaa-a a'laa khalqe-ka wa aa'laa-man le-e'baade-ka salawaa-toka a'laiy-him ajma-ee'n.
Peace of Allah be upon Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, the trustee of Allah over His Revelations, Messages, and determined commandments, the core of the Divine Inspiration and Revelation, who sealed the previous Messages, paved the way to the coming blessings, who prevails over all that, the witness over the creatures, and the luminous torch. Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon him. O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household, the oppressed ones, with the best, most perfect, most exalted, and most honored blessings that You have ever showed on any of Your Prophets, Messengers, and Chosen servants. O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon the Commander of the Faithful, Your servant, the best of Your creatures after Your Prophet, the brother of Your Messenger, the Successor of Your most-beloved one, whom You have selected from among Your beings, the guide to those whom You sent with Your messages, the establisher of the true religion by means of Your justice, and the decisive judge among Your beings. Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon him. O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon the Imams from his offspring, (who are) the holders of Your commandments after him, and the immaculate ones whom You have accepted as supporters of Your religion, keepers of Your secret, witnesses over Your created beings, and signs (of example) for Your servants. May Your blessings be upon them all.
خدا کی طرف سے سلام ہو خدا کے رسول حضرت محمدؐ پر جو خدا کی وحی اور اس کے پیغاموں اور احکام ِدین کے امین ہیں وحی و آیات کے خزانہ دار ہیں نبیوں کے خاتم علوم ِآسمانی کے بیان کرنے والے اور تمام مادی و روحانی علوم کے محافظ ہیں مخلوق پر گواہ و شاہد روشنی پھیلانے والا چراغ ہیں سلام ہو آنحضرتؐ پر خدا کی رحمت ہو اور اس کی برکتیں۔ اے معبود! حضرت محمدؐ اور ان کے اہل بیتؑ پر رحمت نازل فرما جو مظلوم ہیں ان پر بہترین اس سے کامل تر بلند تراور بزرگ تر رحمت فرماجو تو نے اپنے نبیوں اپنے رسولوں اور اپنے پسند کئے ہوؤں میں سے کسی پر کی ہے۔ اے معبود! مومنوں کے سردار پر رحمت نازل فرما جو تیرے بندے اور تیرے نبیؐ کے بعد ساری مخلوق میں بہترین تیرے رسولؐ کے بھائی اور تیرے وصی کے حبیب ہیں کہ جن کو تو نے اپنی مخلوق کے درمیان سے چنا وہ رہنمائی کرتے ہیں اس ہستی کی طرف جسے تو نے اپنا پیغمبر بنایا وہ قیامت میں تیرے عدل سے جزا دینے والے اور تیری مخلوق میں انصاف کا فیصلہ کرنے والے ہیں سلام ہو امیر المؤمنین ؑپر اور خدا کی رحمت ہو اور اس کی برکتیں۔ اے معبود! ان ائمہ پر رحمت فرماجو ان کی اولاد سے ہیں کہ ان کے بعد تیرے امرِ دین کو قائم رکھنے والے ہیں وہ پاک وپاکیزہ ہیں جن کو تو نے اپنے دین کی نصرت کے لئے پسند فرمایا وہ تیرے اسرار کے محافظ تیری مخلوق پر گواہ وشاہد اور تیرے بندوں کے لئے نشانِ ہدایت ہیں تیری رحمتیں ہوں ان سب پر۔
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی اَمِیْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ عَلِیِّ بْنِ اَبِیْطَالِبٍ وَصِیِّ رَسُوْلِ اللہِ وَ خَلِیْفَتِهٖ وَالْقَآئِمِ بِاَمْرِهٖ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهٖ سَیِّدِ الْوَصِیِّیْنَ وَرَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی فَاطِمَۃَ بِنْتِ رَسُوْلِ اللہِ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ سَیِّدَۃِ نِسَآءِ الْعَالَمِیْنَ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَیْنِ سَیِّدَیْ شَبَابِ اَهْلِ الْجَنَّۃِ مِنَ الْخَلْقِ اَجْمَعِیْنَ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْاَئِمَّۃِ الرَّاشِدِیْنَ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْاَنْبِیَآءِ وَالْمُرْسَلِیْنَ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْاَئِمَّۃِ الْمُسْتَوْدِعِیْنَ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی خَآصَّۃِ اللہِ مِنْ خَلْقِهٖ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْمُتَوَسِّمِیْنَ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ الَّذِیْنَ قَامُوْا بِاَمْرِهٖ وَ وَازَرُوْا اَوْلِیَآءَ اللہِ وَ خَافُوْا بِخَوْفِهِمْ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَی الْمَلَآئِكَۃِ الْمُقَرَّبِیْنَ۔ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْنَا وَعَلٰی عِبَادِ اللہِ الصَّالِحِیْنَ۔
As-salaamo a'laa ameeril momeneena a'liy-yibne abee taale-bin wasiyye rasoolil laahe wa khalee-fate-hi wal qaaa-e-me be-amre-hi min baa'de-hi sayyedil wasiyyeen wa rahmatul laahe wa bara-kaato-hu.
As-salaamo a'laa faate-mata binte rasoolil laahe sallal laaho a'laihe wa aalehi sayye-date nesaaa-il aa'lameena.
As-salaamo a'lal hasane wal husaiy-ne sayyedaiy shabaabe ahlil jannate menal khalqe ajma-ee'na as-salaamo a'lal a-immatir raashe-deena as-salaamo a'lal ambeyaaa-e wal mursaleena as-salaamo a'lal a-immatil mustawde-ee'na.
As-salaamo a'laa khaaassa-til laahe min khalqe-hi as-salaamo a'lal motawasse-meena as-salaamo a'lal momenee-nal lazeena qaamoo be-amre-hi wa waa-zaroo awleyaaa-al laahe wa khaafoo be-khawfe-him.
As-salaamo a'lal malaaa-e-katil moqarra-beena.
As-salaamo a'laynaa wa a'laa e'baa-dil laahis saale-heena.
Peace be upon the Commander of the Faithful, Ali the son of Abu Talib, the successor of Allah’s Messenger, his representative, who managed his affairs after him, and the master of all Prophet’s successors. May Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon him, too. Peace be upon Fatima, the daughter of Allah’s Messenger, may Allah’s blessings be upon him, (she is) the leader of all the women of this world. Peace be upon Hasan and Husain, the chiefs of the youth of Paradise among all beings. Peace be upon the Guiding Imams. Peace be upon the Prophets and the Messengers. Peace be upon the Imams whom are entrusted (with the religion by Allah). Peace be upon the elite creatures of Allah. Peace be upon those who understand by tokens. Peace be upon the faithful believers who have carried out His orders, supported the saints of Allah, and have feared for their fear. Peace be upon the Favorite Angels. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah.
سلام ہو امیر المومنین علیؑ ابن ابی طالبؑ پر جو رسولؐ ِخدا کے وصی ان کے جانشین اور ان کے بعد ان کی ذمہ داریاں نبھانے والے اور اوصیاء کے سردار ہیں خدا کی رحمت ہو ان پر اور اس کی برکتیں سلام ہو جناب فاطمہؑ پر جو خدا کے رسولؐ کی دختر تمام جہانوں کی عورتوں کی سردار ہیں۔ سلام ہو حضرت حسنؑ و حسینؑ پر جو دونوں ساری مخلوق میں سے جوانانِ جنت کے سردار ہیں سلام ہو ہدایت دینے والے ائمہ ؑپر سلام ہو تمام نبیوں اور رسولوں پر سلام ہو ان ائمہؑ پر جن کو نبوت کی امانتیں دی گئیں۔ سلام ہو ان پر جو مخلوق میں سے خاصان ِخدا ہیں سلام ہوصاحبانِ عقل وخرد پر سلام ہو ان مومنوں پر جو حکم ِخدا پر کاربند ہوئے خدا کے اولیاء کے مددگار بنے اور ان کے خوف میں خوف زدہ ہیں سلام ہو مقربِ بارگاہ فرشتوں پر سلام ہوہم پر اور خدا کے نیک اور خوش کردار بندوں پر۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allahumma swalle alaa muhammadiw wa aale muhammadin
Allah’s (s.w.t) choicest blessings be upon Mohammed and his holy progeny.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔
