Etiquettes of Burial
دفن میت کے آداب
The duas said at the burial itself, in the order the moment takes them.
At the graveside first: that Allah make this grave one of the gardens of Paradise and not one of the pits of the Fire. Then, as the body is lowered, the words "in the Name of Allah, in Allah, on the way of Allah, and following the way of the Messenger of Allah" — followed by the acknowledgement that this is what Allah and His Messenger promised, and that they spoke the truth.
The last of them is the supplication for the one now left in the earth: that his loneliness be kept company, his seclusion have mercy shown to it, and that he be raised with those he was loyal to — the Immaculate Imams (a), whom the dua names.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْهَا رَوْضَةُ مِنْ رِيَاضُ الْجَنَّةِ، وَلْا تَجْعَلْهَا حَفَرْةَ مِنْ حَفِرَ النَّار۔
Allaahum-maj ‘al-haa raw-zato min reyaa-zul jannate, wal taj‘alhaa ha-farta min hafe-ran-naar.
O Allah, (please) make this grave to be one of the gardens of Paradise, but do not make it to be one of the holes of the Fire.
اے معبود! تو اسے جنت کے باغوں میں ایک باغ بنا دے اور اسے جہنم کے گڑھوں میں سے ایک گڑھا نہ بنا۔
بِسْمِ اللهِ وَبِاللهِ وَفِىْ سَبِيْلِ اللهِ وَعَلٰى مِلَّةِ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ۔ اَللّٰهُمَّ اِيْمَانًا بِكَ وَتَصْدِيْقًا بِكِتَابِكَ هٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ وَصَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ۔ اَللّٰهُمَّ زِدْنَا اِيْمَانًا وَتَسْلِيْمًا۔
Bismillaa-he wa billaa-he wa fee sabee-lillaa-he wa ‘alaa millate rasoo-lil laahe.
Allaahumma eemaa-nan be-ka wa tasdee-qan be-ketaa-beka haazaa maa wa ‘ada-nal laaho wa rasoo-lohu wa sada-qal laaho wa rasoo-lohu.
Allaahumma zidnaa eemaa-nan wa taslee-man.
In the Name of Allah, in Allah, on the way of Allah, and following the principles of Allah’s Messengers. O Allah, (this is on the basis of the) belief in You and giving credence to Your Book. This is what Allah and His Messenger promised us, and Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. O Allah, (pleas) increase us faith and submission (to You).
ﷲ کے نام اور ﷲ کی ذات سے، ﷲ کی راہ میں اور رسول ﷲؐ کے دین پر۔ اے معبود! تجھ پر ایمان اور تیری کتاب کی تصدیق کرتے ہوئے، یہی چیز ہے جس کا ﷲ و رسولؐ نے ہم سے وعدہ کیا اور ﷲ اور اس کے رسولؐ نے سچ فرمایا۔ اے معبود! ہمارے ایمان و یقین میں اضافہ فرما۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allahumma swalle alaa muhammadiw wa aale muhammadin
Allah’s (s.w.t) choicest blessings be upon Mohammed and his holy progeny.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صِلْ وَحْدَتَهٗ وَانِسْ وَحْشَتَهٗ وَارْحَمْ غُرْبَتَهٗ وَاَسْكِنْ اِلَيْهِ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ رَحْمَةً يَسْتَغْنِىْ بِهَا عَنْ رَحْمَةِ مَنْ سِوَاكَ وَاحْشُرْهُ مَعَ مَنْ كَانَ يَتَوَلَّاهُ مِنَ الْاَئِمَّةِ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ۔
Allaahumma sil wahda-tahu waa-nis wah-shata-hu war-ham ghur-bata-hu wa as-kin ilaiy-he min rah-mate-ka rahma-tan yas-tagh-nee be-haa ‘an rahma-te man sewaa-ka wah-shur-ho ma‘a man kaana yata-wallaa-ho menal a-imma-tit taahe-reen.
O Allah, (please) maintain (communion) his loneliness, entertain his lonesomeness, have mercy upon his seclusion, put with him part of Your mercy due to which he will dispense with the mercy of anyone other than You, and resurrect him with those to whom he has been loyal; namely, the Immaculate Imams, peace be upon them.
اے معبود! اس کی تنہائی کا ساتھی رہ، خوف میں ہم دم بن اور اس کی بے کسی پر رحم فرما، اپنی رحمتوں سے خاص رحمت اس کے ساتھ کر دے، اس کے ذریعے اسے اپنے غیر کی رحمت سے بے نیاز کر دے، اس کو پاک ائمہؑ کے ساتھ محشور فرما جن سے وہ محبت رکھتا تھا۔
