Dua when you see the Dead
میت کو دکھنے پر دعا
A short supplication recited on seeing the dead or a passing funeral. The reciter affirms the truth of what Allah and His Messenger promised, asks for an increase in faith and submission, and praises Allah who has decreed death upon His servants. It is said as a remembrance of the certainty of death and the promise of the Hereafter.
اَللهُ اَكْبَرُ هٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ وَصَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ۔ اَللّٰهُمَّ زِدْنَا اِيْمَانًا وَتَسْلِيْمًا اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِىْ تَعَزَّزَ بِالْقُدْرَةِ وَقَهَرَ الْعِبَادَ بِالْمَوْتِ۔
Allaaho akbaro haazaa maa wa ‘ada-nal laaho wa rasoo-lohu wa sada-qal laaho wa rasoo-lohu.
Allaahumma zidnaa imaa-nan wa taslee-man.
Al-hamdo lillaa-hil lazee ta‘azza-za bil qudra-te wa qaha-ral ‘ibaa-da bil-mawt.
Allah is the Most Great. This is what Allah and His Messenger promised us, and Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. O Allah, (please) increase us faith and submission (to You). All praise be to Allah Who has been almighty due to His omnipotence and Who has overpowered the servants (of Him) by death.
ﷲ بزرگ تر ہے یہی وہ چیز ہے جس کا ﷲ و رسولؐ نے ہم سے وعدہ کیا ﷲ اور اس کے رسولؐ نے سچ فرمایا۔ اے معبود! ہمارے ایمان و تسلیم میں اضافہ کر، حمد ہے ﷲ کے لیے جو اپنی قدرت سے غالب ہوا اور موت کے ذریعے بندوں پر حاوی ہوا۔
بِسْمِ اللهِ وَبِاللهِ اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَاغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ۔
Bismillaa-he wa billaa-he allaahumma salle ‘alaa mohammadiw wa aale mohammadin wagh-fir lil momeneena wal momenaat.
In the Name of Allah (I begin) and in Allah (I put my trust). O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and forgive the believing men and women.
خدا کے نام سے خدا کی ذات سے اے معبود! رحمت فرما محمدؐ و آل محمدؑ پر اور مومنین اور مومنات کو بخش دے۔
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِىْ لَمْ يَجْعَلْنِىْ مِنَ السَّوَادِ الْمُخْتَرَمِ۔
Al-hamdo lillaa-hil lazee lam yaj‘al-nee menas sawaa-dil mukh-taram.
All praise be to Allah Who has not included me with the extinct beings.
حمد ہے ﷲ کے لیے جس نے مجھے ہلاک ہونے والے گروہ میں نہیں رکھا۔
