رسول ﷲؐ کا ارشاد ہے : جو شخص کسی جنازے کو دیکھے وہ یہ دعا پڑھے۔۔۔

اَللهُ اَكْبَرُ هٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ وَصَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ۔

اَللّٰهُمَّ زِدْنَا اِيْمَانًا وَتَسْلِيْمًا اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِىْ تَعَزَّزَ بِالْقُدْرَةِ وَقَهَرَ الْعِبَادَ بِالْمَوْتِ۔

Allaahu akbaru haazaa maa wa'adanaa allaahu warasooluhoo wasadaqa allaahu warasooluh.

Allaahumma zidnaa eemaanan watasleeman al-hamdu lillaahi allazee ta'azzaza bil-qudrati waqahara al-'ibaada bil-mawt.

Allah is the Most Great. This is what Allah and His Messenger promised us, and Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. O Allah, (please) increase us faith and submission (to You). All praise be to Allah Who has been almighty due to His omnipotence and Who has overpowered the servants (of Him) by death.

ﷲ بزرگ تر ہے یہی وہ چیز ہے جس کا ﷲ و رسولؐ نے ہم سے وعدہ کیا ﷲ اور اس کے رسولؐ نے سچ فرمایا۔ اے معبود! ہمارے ایمان و تسلیم میں اضافہ کر، حمد ہے ﷲ کے لیے جو اپنی قدرت سے غالب ہوا اور موت کے ذریعے بندوں پر حاوی ہوا۔

Imam Sadiq (a) is reported to have instructed the bearers of a coffin to say these words…

امام جعفر صادقؑ فرماتے ہیں : جنازہ اٹھاتے وقت یہ دعا پڑھی جائے۔۔۔

بِسْمِ اللهِ وَبِاللهِ اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَاغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ۔

Bismi allaahi wabillaahi allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa-aali muhammadin waghfir lil-mu'mineena wal-mu'minaat.

In the Name of Allah (I begin) and in Allah (I put my trust). O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and forgive the believing men and women.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِىْ لَمْ يَجْعَلْنِىْ مِنَ السَّوَادِ الْمُخْتَرَمِ۔

Al-hamdu lillaahi allazee lam yaj'alnee mina as-sawaadi al-mukhtaram.

All praise be to Allah Who has not included me with the extinct beings.

حمد ہے ﷲ کے لیے جس نے مجھے ہلاک ہونے والے گروہ میں نہیں رکھا۔

It is not traditional that women follow funerals. It is also discommended for those who follow a funeral to laugh or to utter nonsensical words.

عورتوں کے لیے جنازے کے ساتھ جانا سنت نہیں ہے، بعض علماء کا قول ہے کہ جنازے کو تیز رفتاری کے ساتھ لے جانا مکروہ ہے اور جو لوگ جنازے کے ساتھ ہوں ان کے لیے ہنسنا اور فضول باتیں کرنا بھی مکروہ ہے۔

In his book entitled Hilyah, Allamah Majlisi, may Allah have mercy upon him, quotes the Holy Prophet (s) as saying, “Whoever performs a prayer for a deceased, 70000 angels will pray for him and Almighty Allah will forgive him his past and coming sins. If he remains until the deceased is buried and soil completely covers his grave, then he will be granted a carat of reward for each step he has made. One carat is equal to the weight of Mount Uhud.” The Holy Prophet (s) is also reported to have said, “Any faithful believer who performs a prayer for a deceased person will be awarded Paradise incumbently unless he is hypocrite or impious to the parents.”

علامہ مجلسیؒ حلیۃ المتقین میں لکھتے ہیں : حضرت رسولؐ سے منقول ہے : جو شخص کسی کی نمازِ جنازہ پڑھتا ہے اس پر ۷۰۰۰۰ فرشتے نماز پڑھیں گے اور اس کے تمام سابقہ گناہ معاف ہو جائیں گے، اگر جنازے کے ہمراہ جائے اور اس کی تدفین تک وہاں رہے تو اس کے ہر قدم کے بدلے اسے ایک قیراط ثواب دیا جائے گا اور یہ قیراط کوہ احد کے برابر ہوتا ہے۔ ایک اور حدیث میں ارشاد فرماتے ہیں: جو بھی مومن کسی کی نمازِ جنازہ پڑھے گا تو جنت اس کے لیے واجب ہو جائے گی، بشرطیکہ وہ منافق یا والدین کا نافرمان نہ ہو۔
