Al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya

صحیفہ سجادیہ

Al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya of Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn Zayn al-Abidin (a)

Al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya — the book of supplications of Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn, Zayn al-Abidin (a), the fourth Imam, and after the Qur'an and Nahj al-Balagha the most widely read text in the Shia tradition. It is often called the Psalms of the Household of the Prophet.

The Centre holds it complete: all 54 supplications in their traditional order, together with the seven addenda that are transmitted with them — 61 in all, each with the Arabic, a translation, and Urdu.

Their subjects are the ordinary shape of a life rather than a set of occasions. There are supplications for his parents, for his children, for his neighbours and friends, for the coming of Ramazan and for bidding it farewell, for the new moon, for rain, for when he fell ill, for when he was wronged, for when death was mentioned, and — the longest of them — for the Day of Arafah.

Read them in order, or find the one that fits the day.
