Too many are the supplications that have been reported from the Holy Prophet (s) and the Holy Imams (a), to be said at sunrise and sunset. Besides, verses from the Holy Qur’an and traditions of the Infallibles, peace be upon them, have urged on and awakened desires for the persistence on saying such supplications at these two times of the day. However, let us mention a few of these authenticated duas:
واضح رہے کہ رسول اللہؐ اورائمہ طاہرینؑ سے طلوع وغروبِ آفتاب کے وقت بہت سی دعائیں اور اذکار نقل ہوئے ہیں۔ نیز معتبر روایات میں ان دونوں وقتوں میں دعا کرنے کی بہت زیادہ رغبت دلائی گئی ہے اس مختصر کتاب میں ہم محض چند مستند دعاؤں کے ذکر پر اکتفا کرتے ہیں۔

مشائخِ حدیث نے معتبر سند کے ساتھ امام جعفر صادقؑ سے روایت کی ہے : ہر مسلمان کے لیے واجب ہے کہ وہ طلوعِ آفتاب اورغروبِ آفتاب سے پہلے دس مرتبہ یہ دعا پڑھے۔ بعض روایات میں آیا ہے: اگر یہ دعا وقت پر نہ پڑھ سکے تو اس کی قضا کرنا ضروری ہے ۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِيْ وَيُمِيْتُ، وَيُمِيْتُ وَيُحْيِيْ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوْتُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْٓءٍ قَدِيْرٌ۔
Laa ilaaha illaa allaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahoo lahu al-mulku walahu al-hamdu yuhyee wayumeetu, wayumeetu wayuhyee wahuwa hayyun laa yamootu biyadihi al-khayru wahuwa 'alaa kulli shay'in qadeer.
There is no God except Allah, the One, without any partner. To Him belongs the Kingdom and to Him is due all Praise. He gives life and death, and gives death and life; He is Living and never dies. In His hand is the good, and He has power over all things.

انہی حضرؑت کی معتبر روایات میں یہ بھی وارد ہوا ہے کہ طلوع وغروبِ آفتاب سے پہلے دس مرتبہ یہ دعا پڑھیں۔۔۔
اَعُوْذُ بِاللهِ السَّمِيْعِ الْعَلِيْمِ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِيْنِ وَاَعُوْذُ بِاللهِ اَنْ يَّحْضُرُوْنِ اِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ۔
A'oozu billaahi as-samee'i al-'aleemi min hamazaati ash-shayaateeni wa-a'oozu billaahi an yahdurooni inna allaaha huwa as-samee'u al-'aleem.
I seek the protection of Allah, the All-hearing and All-knowing, against the evil suggestions of the devils and I seek Allah’s protection lest they be present with me. Verily, Allah is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.
میں شیاطین کے وسوسوں سے سننے جاننے والے خدا کی پناہ کا طلب گار ہوں اورخدا کی پناہ چاہتا ہوں اس سے کہ وہ میرے قریب آئیں بے شک اﷲہی سننے اور جاننے والا ہے۔
Imam Sadiq (a) is also reported to have said: Nothing should divert you from saying the following dua 3 times each morning and evening…
حضرتؑ سے منقول ہے کہ تمہارے لیے کیا رکاوٹ ہے کہ صبح اور شام یہ دعا پڑھ لیا کرو۔۔۔

اَللّٰهُمَّ مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوْبِ وَالْاَبْصَارِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِيْ عَلٰى دِيْنِكَ وَلَا تُزِغْ قَلْبِيْ بَعْدَ اِذْ هَدَيْتَنِيْ وَهَبْ لِيْ مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ وَاَجِرْنِيْ مِنَ النَّارِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ امْدُدْ لِيْ فِيْ عُمُرِيْ وَاَوْسِعْ عَلَيَّ فِيْ رِزْقِيْ وَانْشُرْ عَلَيَّ رَحْمَتَكَ وَاِنْ كُنْتُ عِنْدَكَ فِيْ اُمِّ الْكِتَابِ شَقِيًّا فَاجْعَلْنِيْ سَعِيْدًا فَاِنَّكَ تَمْحُوْ مَا تَشَآءُ وَتُثْبِتُ وَعِنْدَكَ اُمُّ الْكِتَابِ۔
Allaahumma muqalliba al-quloobi wal-absaari thabbit qalbee 'alaa deenika walaa tuzigh qalbee ba'da iz hadaytanee wahab lee min ladunka rahmatan innaka anta al-wahhaabu wa-ajirnee mina an-naari birahmatik.
Allaahumma umdud lee fee 'umuree wa-awsi' 'alayya fee rizqee wanshur 'alayya rahmataka wa-in kuntu 'indaka fee ummi al-kitaabi shaqiyyan faj'alnee sa'eedan fa-innaka tamhoo maa tashaa'u watuthbitu wa'indaka ummu al-kitaab.
O Allah Who causes the changes of hearts and sights, (please) make firm my heart on the course of Your religion, cause not my heart to stray off after You have guided me, and bestow upon me mercy from Your Presence. Surely, You are the All-bestower. And save me from Hellfire out of Your mercy. O Allah, (please) extend my lifetime, expand my sustenance, cover me with Your mercy, and if I am listed in the Mother of the Book with the unhappy ones, please include me with the happy ones, for, surely, You efface what You will, and establish what You will, and with You is the Mother of the Book.
اے دلوں اور آنکھوں کے پلٹنے والے خدائے پاک میرے دل کو اپنے دین پر جما دے اس کے بعد میرے دل کو ٹیڑھا نہ کر جب تو نے مجھے ہدایت دی ہے۔ مجھ پر اپنی طرف سے رحمت نازل فرما اس میں شک نہیں کہ تو بڑا ہی عطا کرنے والا ہے اور اپنی رحمت سے مجھے آگ سے بچا اور محفوظ رکھ اے اﷲ!میری عمر طویل کر دے میرے رزق میں وسعت پیدا کر دے اور مجھ پر اپنی رحمت کا سایہ فرما دے اور اگر میں لوحِ محفوظ میں تیرے نزدیک بدبخت ہوں تو مجھے نیک بخت بنا دے یقینًا تو جو چاہے مٹاتا اور لکھتا ہے اور لوحِ محفوظ تیرے پاس ہے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa-aali muhammad.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آلؑ پر۔
Imam Sadiq (a) is also reported to have instructed to say the following dua each morning and evening…
حضرتؑ سے مروی ہے کہ صبح شام یہ دعا پڑھے۔۔۔

اَللّٰهُمَّ اَدْخِلْنِيْ فِيْ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ اَدْخَلْتَ فِيْهِ مُحَمَّدًا وَّآلَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَاَخْرِجْنِيْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَرٍّ اَخْرَجْتَ مِنْهُ مُحَمَّدًا وَّآلَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Al-hamdu lillaahi allazee yaf'alu maa yashaa'u walaa yaf'alu maa yashaa'u ghayruhu al-hamdu lillaahi kamaa yuhibbu allaahu an yuhmada al-hamdu lillaahi kamaa huwa ahluh.
Allaahumma adkhilnee fee kulli khayrin adkhalta feehi muhammadan wa-aala muhammadin wa-akhrijnee min kulli sharrin akhrajta minhu muhammadan wa-aala muhammadin sallaa allaahu 'alaa muhammadin wa-aali muhammad.
All praise be to Allah Who does whatever He wills and none else can ever do whatever one wills. All praise be to Allah as much as Allah desires to be praised. All praise be to Allah as much as He is worthy of praising. O Allah, include me with each (item of) goodness with which You have included Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, and take me out of each (item of) evil from which You have taken out Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad. May Allah bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
ساری تعریف اس اﷲکے لیے ہے کہ جو وہ چاہے کرتا ہے اور اس کے سوا کوئی نہیں جو چاہے کر پائے ساری تعریف اﷲکے لیے ہے کہ جیسی تعریف وہ پسندکرتا ہے اور ساری تعریف اﷲ کے لیے ہے جیسا کہ وہ اس کا اہل ہے اے معبود! مجھے ہر اس نیکی میں داخل فرما جس میں تو نے محمدؐو آل محمدؑ کو داخل فرمایا ہے اور مجھے ہر اس برائی سے بچا کہ جس سے تونے محمدؐ وآل محمدؑ کو محفوظ رکھا خدا کی رحمت ہومحمدؐ وآل محمدؑ پر۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔

Recite this Zikr 10 times each morning and evening…
ہر صبح و شام دس مرتبہ پڑھے۔۔۔
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ وَلَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُ۔
Subhaana allaahi wal-hamdu lillaahi walaa ilaaha illaa allaahu wallaahu akbar.
All glory be to Allah, all praise be to Allah, there is no god save Allah, and Allah is the Greatest.
پاک ہے اﷲاور حمد اﷲہی کے لئے ہے اور اﷲکے سوا کوئی معبودنہیں اور اﷲبزرگ تر ہے۔
Recite Dua-e-Ashraat every morning and evening.
ہر صبح و شام دُعاء عشرات پڑھے۔
Dua of Imam Ali (a) to be recited at the time of Sunset Allaahumma Innee Ata-qarra-bo
امام علیؑ غروبِ آفتاب کے وقت یہ دعا پڑھتے تھے اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَتَقَرَّبُ
