اُوْصِیْکُمَا بِتَقْوَی اللہِ وَاَنْ لَا تَبْغِیَا الدُّنْیَا وَاِنْ بَغَتْکُمَا وَلَا تَاْسَفَا عَلٰی شَیْءٍ مِنْہَا زُوِیَ عَنْکُمَا وَقُوْلَا بِالْحَقِّ وَاعْمَلَا لِلْاَجْرِ وَکُوْنَا لِلظَّالِمِ خَصْمًا وَلِلْمَظْلُوْمِ عَوْنًا اُوْصِیْکُمَا وَجَمِیْعَ وَلَدِیْ وَاَہْلِیْ وَمَنْ بَلَغَہٗ کِتَابِیْ بِتَقْوَی اللہِ وَنَظْمِ اَمْرِکُمْ، وَصَلَاحِ ذَاتِ بَیْنِکُمْ۔
فَاِنِّیْ سَمِعْتُ جَدَّکُمَا صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ یَقُوْلُ: صَلَاحُ ذَاتِ الْبَیْنِ اَفْضَلُ مِنْ عَامَّةِ الصَّلٰوةِ وَالصِّیَامِ۔
Ooseekumaa bitaqwaa allaahi wa-an laa tabghiyaa ad-dunyaa wa-in baghatkumaa walaa ta'safaa 'alaa shay'in minhaa zuwiya 'ankumaa waqoolaa bil-haqqi wa'malaa lil-ajri wakoonaa liz-zaalimi khasman walilmazloomi 'awnan ooseekumaa wajamee'a waladee wa-ahlee waman balaghahoo kitaabee bitaqwaa allaahi wanazmi amrikum, wasalaahi zaati baynikum.
Fa-innee sami'tu jaddakumaa sallaa allaahu 'alayhi wa-aalihee yaqoolu: salaahu zaati al-bayni afdalu min 'aammati as-salaati was-siyaam.
My advice to you is to be conscious of Allah. Do not yearn for the world, and do not be seduced by it. Do not resent anything you have missed in it. Proclaim the truth; work for the next world. Oppose the oppressor and support the oppressed. I advise you, and all my children, my relatives, and whosoever receives this message, to be conscious of Allah, to remove your differences, and to strengthen your ties. I heard your grandfather, peace be upon him, say: "Reconciliation of your differences is more worthy than all prayers and all fasting."
میں تم دونوں کو خدا سے ڈرتے رہنے کی وصیت کرتا ہوں اور دنیا کی طرف مائل نہ ہونا خواہ وہ تمہاری طرف مائل ہو اور دنیا کی جو چیز تم سے روک لی جائے اس پر افسوس نہ کرنا اور جو بھی کہنا حق کے لئے کہنا، اور جو کچھ کرنا ثواب کے لئے کرنا، اور ظالم کے دشمن اور مظلوم کے مددگار رہنا۔ میں تم دونوں کو، اپنی دوسری اولادوں کو، اپنے کنبے کے افراد کو اور جن لوگوں تک میرا یہ نوشتہ پہنچے، اُن سب کو وصیت کرتا ہوں کہ اللہ سے ڈرتے رہنا اور اپنے امور کو منظم رکھنا، اور باہمی تعلقات کو سلجھائے رکھنا، کیونکہ میں نے تمہارے نانا رسول اللہؐ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ: آپس کی کشیدگیوں کو مٹانا عام نماز روزے سے افضل ہے۔
وَاللہَ اللہَ فِی الْاَیْتَامِ، فَلَا تُغِبُّوْا اَفْوَاہَہُمْ وَلَا یَضِیْعُوْا بِحَضْرَتِکُمْ۔
وَاللہَ اللہَ فِیْ جِیْرَانِکُمْ، فَاِنَّہُمْ وَصِیَّةُ نَبِیِّکُمْ، مَازَالَ یُوْصِیْ بِہِمْ، حَتّٰی ظَنَنَّا اَنَّہٗ سَیُوَرِّثُہُمْ۔
وَاللہَ اللہَ فِی الْقُرْآنِ، لَا یَسْبِقُکُمْ بِالْعَمَلِ بِہٖ غَیْرُکُمْ، وَاللہَ اللہَ فِی الصَّلوٰةِ، فَاِنَّہَا عَمُوْدُ دِیْنِکُمْ۔
وَاللہَ اللہَ فِیْ بَیْتِ رَبِّکُمْ، لَا تُخْلُوْہُ مَا بَقِیْتُمْ فَاِنَّہٗ اِنْ تُرِکَ لَمْ تُنَاظَرُوْا۔
وَاللہَ اللہَ فِی الْجِہَادِ بِاَمْوَالِکُمْ وَاَنْفُسِکُمْ وَاَلْسِنَتِکُمْ فِیْ سَبِیْلِ اللہِ وَعَلَیْکُمْ بِالتَّوَاصُلِ وَالتَّبَاذُلِ، وَاِیَّاکُمْ وَالتَّدَابُرَ وَالتَّقَاطُعَ۔
Wallaaha allaaha fee al-aytaami, falaa tughibboo afwaahahum walaa yadee'oo bihadratikum.
Wallaaha allaaha fee jeeraanikum, fa-innahum wasiyyatu nabiyyikum, maazaala yoosee bihim, hattaa zanannaa annahoo sayuwarrithuhum.
Wallaaha allaaha fee al-qur'aani, laa yasbiqukum bil-'amali bihee ghayrukum, wallaaha allaaha fee as-salwaati, fa-innahaa 'amoodu deenikum.
Wallaaha allaaha fee bayti rabbikum, laa tukhloohu maa baqeetum fa-innahoo in turika lam tunaazaroo.
Wallaaha allaaha fee al-jihaadi bi-amwaalikum wa-anfusikum wa-alsinatikum fee sabeeli allaahi wa'alaykum bit-tawaasuli wat-tabaazuli, wa-iyyaakum wat-tadaabura wat-taqaatu'.
Fear Allah in matters concerning orphans. Attend to their nutrition and do not forget their interests in the middle of yours. Fear Allah in your relations with your neighbors. Your Prophet often recommended them to you, so much so that we thought he would give them a share in inheritance. Remain attached to the Qur’an. Nobody should surpass you in being intent on it, or more sincere in implementing it. Fear Allah in relation to your prayers. It is the pillar of your religion. Fear Allah in relation to His House; do not abandon it as long as you live. If it is abandoned, you will not be given respite. Persist in jihad in the cause of Allah, with your money, your souls, and your tongue. Maintain communication and exchange of opinion among yourselves. Beware of disunity and enmity.
دیکھو! یتیموں کے بارے میں اللہ سے ڈرتے رہنا، ان پر فاقے کی نوبت نہ آئے اور تمہارے ہوتے ہوئے وہ برباد نہ ہوں۔ اپنے ہمسایوں کے بارے میں خدا سے ڈرتے رہنا، کیونکہ ان کے بارے میں تمہارے نبیؐ نے برابر ہدایت کی ہے آپؐ ان کے بارے میں اس قدر تاکید فرماتے تھے کہ ہمیں یہ گمان ہونے لگا تھا کہ آپؐ انھیں بھی ورثہ دلائیں گے۔ اور قرآن کے بارے میں اللہ سے ڈرتے رہنا، کہیں ایسا نہ ہو کہ دوسرے اس پر عمل کرنے میں تم پر سبقت لے جائیں۔ نماز کے بارے میں اللہ سے ڈرنا کیونکہ وہ تمہارے دین کا ستون ہے، اور اپنے رب کے گھر کے بارے میں خدا سے ڈرتے رہنا، جیتے جی اسے خالی نہ چھوڑنا، کیونکہ اگر یہ خالی چھوڑ دیا گیا تو پھر (عذاب سے) مہلت نہ پاؤگے۔ اپنے اموال، جان اور زبان سے راہِ خدا میں جہاد کے سلسلے میں خدا سے ڈرتے رہنا۔ تم پر لازم ہے کہ ایک دوسرے سے میل ملاپ رکھنا اور ایک دوسرے کی اعانت کرنا، خبردار ایک دوسرے سے پیٹھ پھیرنے اور قطع تعلق سے پرہیز کرنا۔
لَا تَتْرُکُوا الْاَمْرَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ وَالنَّہْیَ عَنِ الْمُنْکَرِ، فَیُوَلَّیٰ عَلَیْکُمْ شِرَارُکُمْ، ثُمَّ تَدْعُوْنَ فَلَا یُسْتَجَابُ لَکُمْ۔
یَا بَنِیْ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ! لَا اُلْفِیَنَّکُمْ تَخُوْضُوْنَ دِمَآءَ الْمُسْلِمِیْنَ، خَوْضًا تَقُوْلُوْنَ: قُتِلَ اَمِیْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ اَلَا لَا تَقْتُلُنَّ بِیْ اِلَّا قَاتِلِیْ۔
اُنْظُرُوْا اِذَا اَنَا مُتُّ مِنْ ضَرْبَتِہٖ ہٰذِہٖ، فَاضْرِبُوْہُ ضَرْبَةً بِضَرْبَةٍ، وَلَا تُمَثِّلُوْا بِالرَّجُلِ، فَاِنِّیْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُوْلَ اللہِ (ص) یَقُوْلُ: اِیَّاکُمْ وَالْمُثْلَةَ وَلَوْ بِالْکَلْبِ الْعَقُوْرِ۔
Laa tatrukoo al-amra bil-ma'roofi wan-nahya 'ani al-munkari, fayuwallayaa 'alaykum shiraarukum, thumma tad'oona falaa yustajaabu lakum.
Yaa banee 'abdi al-muttalib!
Laa ulfiyannakum takhoodoona dimaa'a al-muslimeena, khawdan taqooloona: qutila ameeru al-mu'mineena alaa laa taqtulunna bee illaa qaatilee.
Unzuroo izaa anaa muttu min darbatihee haazihee, fadriboohu darbatan bidarbatin, walaa tumaththiloo bir-rajuli, fa-innee sami'tu rasoola allaahi (s) yaqoolu: iyyaakum wal-muthlata walaw bil-kalbi al-'aqoor.
Do not desist from promoting good deeds and cautioning against bad ones. Should you do that, the worst among you would be your leaders, and you will call upon Allah without response. O Children of Abdul Muttalib! Do not shed the blood of Muslims under the banner: The Imam has been assassinated! Only the assassin should be condemned to death. If I die of this stab of his, kill him with one similar stroke. Do not mutilate him! I have heard the Prophet, peace be upon him, say: "Mutilate not even a rabid dog."
دیکھو! امر بالمعروف اور نہی عن المنکر کو ترک نہ کرنا، ورنہ بد کردار تم پر مسلّط ہو جائیں گے اور پھر اگر تم دعا مانگو گے تو وہ قبول نہ ہوگی۔ اے عبد المطلب کے بیٹو! ایسا نہ ہو کہ تم، امیر المومنین قتل ہو گئے، امیر المومنین قتل ہو گئے کے نعرے لگاتے ہوئے مسلمانوں کے خون سے ہولی کھیلنے لگو۔ دیکھو! میرے بدلے میں صرف میرا قاتل ہی قتل کیا جائے۔ دیکھو! اگر میں اس ضرب سے مرجاؤں، تو تم اس ایک ضرب کے بدلے میں اسے ایک ہی ضرب لگانا، اور اس شخص کے ہاتھ پیر نہ کاٹنا، کیونکہ میں نے رسول اللہؐ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ: خبردار کسی کے ہاتھ پیر نہ کاٹنا، خواہ وہ کاٹنے والا کتّا ہی کیوں نہ ہو۔
